Summary

Bishop Henry Fernandez challenges believers to evaluate whether the light of Christ or the darkness of the world is more visible in their lives, emphasizing that true faith is demonstrated through character and daily spiritual transformation.

Key points
  • •Believers must recognize they have been rescued from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of light, which necessitates a change in behavior and values.
  • •Kingdom culture is defined not by image management or religious appearance, but by the consistent development of godly character (love, humility, and respect).
  • •Transformation is a lifelong journey that requires 'dying daily' to fleshly desires and emotional reactions, especially when faced with conflict or mistreatment.
  • •One cannot transform a culture by becoming a reflection of that culture's flaws; believers must remain noticeably different from the surrounding world.
  • •Spiritual maturity is demonstrated by acknowledging faults and seeking God for transformation rather than pretending to be perfect or focusing on others' sins.

Life application

This week, when you encounter someone who disagrees with you or mistreats you, pause and ask yourself if your response reflects the kingdom of light or the culture around you. Commit to responding with a 'soft answer' or silence rather than retaliating, allowing the Holy Spirit to govern your emotions.

Reflection questions
  1. When people observe your attitude and conversations at work or home, do they see the influence of Jesus or a reflection of the current culture?
  2. In what areas of your life are you currently trying to 'manage your image' rather than 'developing your character'?
  3. How can you more effectively 'die daily' to the impulse to clap back at those who wrong you?
  4. Are you focusing more on identifying the darkness in others than on the transformation needed in your own heart?

0:00Paul's writing in
0:02Colossians chapter 1.
0:06>> We're going to talk this morning about
0:08what's more visible,
0:11>> the light or the darkness.
0:15>> When you look at your life, what is more
0:17visible?
0:19>> Are you an agent of change?
0:22>> A person demonstrating
0:25the light,
0:26>> or are you a part of the darkness?
0:30So Paul said, "Then the way you live
0:33>> will always honor and please the Lord
0:36and your lives will produce every kind
0:40of good work or good fruit. All the
0:43while, you will grow as you learn to
0:47know God better and better.
0:51We also pray that you will be
0:53strengthened with all his glorious power
0:58so that you will have all the endurance
1:01and the patience you need. I wonder why
1:05he wrote that.
1:07Cuz to be the light,
1:11you're going to have to have a lot of
1:13patience. Man,
1:16>> it's not easy to be nice
1:23>> in a dirty, cruel
1:26>> world.
1:30And then he says, "Always thanking the
1:32father, he has enabled you to share in
1:36the inheritance that belongs to his
1:38people who live in the light.
1:43For he has rescued us
1:46>> from the kingdom of darkness
1:49and transferred us into the kingdom of
1:52his dear son. Father bless this word now
1:55we pray in Jesus name. Amen. Come on
1:58give the Lord a hand of praise and you
2:00may be seated for a moment. So
2:05we cannot ignore what is happening
2:08around us.
2:10We cannot I don't believe that anyone
2:13who's reasonable and honest in their
2:16assessment of what is happening
2:19globally, nationally, and within our
2:21communities can conclude that everything
2:26is okay.
2:28Because the truth is we're not okay.
2:32We are witnessing a troubling decline in
2:36some of our most basic principles
2:39necessary for a healthy and productive
2:43society.
2:44The same is true for the church. The
2:47church is witnessing a troubling decline
2:50in some of the most basic principles
2:54necessary for it to shine its light.
2:58principles such as human dignity,
3:02mutual respect,
3:04>> personal uh responsibility, compassion,
3:08integrity, and our responsibility to
3:11care for one another and the world that
3:14God has entrusted to us. And what
3:18concerns me even more is that some of
3:22the very people who profess to be
3:25followers of Jesus Christ are
3:27contributing to the darkness
3:30>> rather than demonstrating
3:32>> the light.
3:35I want you to understand something here
3:37today that you cannot listen to this
3:39carefully. You cannot claim to represent
3:42the light of Jesus Christ while
3:45consistently allowing your life to be
3:49governed by the principles that
3:51contradict his teachings.
3:55>> And uh that's why I want to challenge
3:58every one of us here today with the
4:00question, what's more visible?
4:04>> Is it the light or is it the darkness? I
4:08want you to know that many of us are
4:11fighting daily to grow, to mature, and
4:14become a greater reflection of the best
4:17version of who God has called us to be
4:20as defined by his word. If you are daily
4:25dying to your fleshly desires
4:29and continuing to press forward in your
4:33faith, striving to become a greater
4:36reflection of God's will for your life,
4:40encourage you to continue to do so. As
4:44you surrender your flesh and allow his
4:47word to transform you, his light will
4:50shine more brightly through you,
4:53empowering you to become a beacon of
4:56hope, love, and the truth
5:00to people around you. When people
5:03observe your attitude, when they listen
5:06to your conversations, examine your
5:09decisions and experience how you treat
5:12others, what do they see?
5:16What do they see? Do they see
5:19the influence of Jesus Christ or do they
5:22see another reflection of the very
5:25culture we have been called to
5:28influence?
5:30So, let me share with you three
5:32important things you need to think about
5:34as believers as you leave this place, as
5:37you log off, as you go into the market
5:39place. Three things you need to
5:41consider, especially if you're a person
5:42of faith. There are two kingdoms,
5:46but two different ways of living.
5:49That's it. There are only two kingdoms
5:51on the earth. Kingdom of darkness,
5:53kingdom of light.
5:55Paul said in in Colossians 1:12-13,
6:01he made it clear. He explains that God
6:04has qualified us to share in the
6:07inheritance of his holy people in the
6:10kingdom of light. Here's what he said in
6:15verse 13. For he has rescued us. He has
6:19rescued us from dominion or the dominion
6:23of the darkness and has brought us into
6:25the kingdom of his son he loves. So for
6:30those of us who are transformed because
6:32the Bible says if any man be in Christ
6:34he's what? A new creature. If we're
6:36being transformed then our light has to
6:40be different from the world. The Bible
6:43makes it very clear that there are two
6:45opposing spiritual kingdoms. There's the
6:48kingdom of light which is governed by
6:50the principles, character and authority
6:53of God. And there is the kingdom of
6:55darkness which operates in the opposite
6:59to the truth and the the instructions of
7:02God's word. So please understand
7:05something here that the distinction
7:08between these two kingdoms is not
7:11determined by watch this someone's
7:15social status.
7:17political affiliation, race,
7:21economic position
7:23or even their religious appearance.
7:27The distinction is revealed by what
7:31govern their lives. And as followers of
7:34Jesus Christ, we have made a commitment
7:39to follow God's word to influence how we
7:42think, speak, behave, and respond to
7:46life's circumstances. We cannot behave
7:50just like the world.
7:52>> We're different. And this is where the
7:55challenge begins for many of us because
7:57every single day we're confronted with
8:00the decisions that require us to choose
8:04between following biblical principles or
8:07surrendering to the pressures of
8:09society.
8:10>> Please note I said biblical principles.
8:14There's a huge difference between
8:15biblical principles and the values
8:19embraced by society. We must decide
8:22whether our attitudes will be governed
8:25by scripture or by our emotions.
8:29Whether our conversations will reflect
8:32God's character or the negativity
8:35surrounding us. Whether our
8:38relationships will be influenced by
8:41love.
8:43Whether our relationships
8:45will be influenced by love. Let me say
8:47it again. whether our relationships
8:51>> will be influenced by love, respect, and
8:55forgiveness.
8:57>> Come on now.
9:00>> What's what's driving our relationship?
9:03The person you're dating, the person
9:04you're married to, your business
9:06relationship, your relationship at work,
9:10even in the community,
9:13what's governing your relationship? What
9:16kind of an attitude do you have? And I'm
9:18just speaking from Henry's point of
9:20view. I am so disappointed and turned
9:24off by the way I see people who call
9:28themselves people of faith
9:31>> behaving.
9:34>> The coldness,
9:37>> the coldness.
9:40I literally this week heard a preacher,
9:43a famous preacher,
9:45I mean he has thousands of people
9:48following him and listening to him. I
9:50heard a preacher this week was asked by
9:53a reporter,
9:55"Would you support the live streaming
9:59of the shooting of this person who
10:03committed crimes?"
10:06And this preacher looked at the reporter
10:09and said, "Absolutely
10:13>> and backed it up with Bible."
10:20>> Where have we gone cold?
10:25>> Where have we gone cold?
10:27So whether our relationships
10:30will be influenced by love or respect or
10:32forgiveness or bitterness, will it be
10:35bitterness, prejudice or resentment?
10:39Whether our personal decisions will be a
10:42reflection of kingdom culture or simply
10:44following whatever is popular and
10:46acceptable in society.
10:49Got to be careful. And especially we as
10:51spiritual leaders, God's going to hold
10:53us accountable of the type of messages
10:55we're preaching.
10:59Here is something I want you to
11:01remember. You cannot transform a culture
11:05by becoming the reflection of everything
11:08that is wrong with that culture.
11:11[applause]
11:15>> And if we're going to represent God's
11:17kingdom effectively, there must be
11:20something noticeably different about the
11:23way we live. Number two, your actions
11:27reveal which principles are influencing
11:31your life.
11:32There's a saying that says when people
11:35show you who they are,
11:37>> believe them. James 3:13 says, "Who is
11:41wise and understanding among you? Let
11:44them show show it by their good life,
11:49by deeds done in humility that comes
11:53from wisdom." That is amazing.
11:56I'm really in love with this scripture
11:58because it says, "Your commitment to
12:01godly wisdom is not established simply
12:04by what you say.
12:07It must be demonstrated
12:10>> by how you live.
12:12>> We are living in an age where people
12:15have become extremely skilled at
12:18projecting an image.
12:22>> Very good at that. Through social media,
12:25public appearances, religious
12:27expressions, and carefully selected
12:30words, individuals can create an
12:34impression of themselves that may not
12:36accurately reflect their character
12:43>> and character matters.
12:46>> But here's what I want you to
12:48understand. The kingdom culture is not
12:50about managing your image. Yes.
12:53>> No, it's about developing your
12:55character.
12:56>> And there's a difference. You can dress
12:59like a Christian, talk like a Christian,
13:02post scriptures like a Christian, and
13:04still fail to demonstrate the basic
13:06character of Jesus Christ.
13:09>> [applause]
13:12>> So I'm talking about character traits
13:16like love, unity, humility, being a
13:20person who speaks to people with
13:22respect,
13:24>> having an inviting appearance,
13:27not an abuser,
13:30>> not a pretender,
13:33>> one who is more interested in building
13:35unity
13:37rather than advancing in their own
13:39agenda.
13:40>> Yes, sir.
13:42>> And our country is in a crisis.
13:48>> Because we I'm not talking about the the
13:50darkness of the world now. And people
13:52who have no faith, don't believe in any
13:54God. But let me talk to our people, our
13:57people of faith who call ourselves
13:59Christians. We cannot allow ourselves to
14:02lose love, to lose unity, humility. We
14:06have to make sure we we we we speak and
14:08treat people with respect.
14:12[applause]
14:12>> We cannot lose that.
14:16We cannot become abusers. Lord,
14:20>> we're now into the month of domestic
14:22violence.
14:24You cannot be a man or a woman of faith
14:28>> and you come to church and you pretend
14:30and you look like you're a Jesus Christ,
14:32but you're abusing your spouse at home.
14:36>> [applause]
14:38>> It's not about an image.
14:41>> Your character matters.
14:44How you speak to one another.
14:47>> And none of us, one of the things we go
14:49back to the Bible, not one of us was
14:51given the opportunity to dominate
14:54another human,
15:00>> right? And we we have situations now
15:02where we're pretty pritting things up.
15:04Men are abusing women and women are
15:06abusing physically. I'm talking now, not
15:08just verbally, but physically abusing
15:11their spouse, the person they're dating
15:12with, the person they're married to, and
15:14physically abusing. And we're trying to
15:17sugarcoat it with all these nice terms
15:19and and talking about, well, you know,
15:21he or she is dealing with some trauma
15:24from the past. You have no
15:26responsibility and right to put your
15:28hand on another human being. Period.
15:32[applause]
15:34>> And we don't come we don't come to
15:36church and try to just put a band-aid
15:38over it and cover it up.
15:43>> That's why we must become more
15:45intentional about examining our actions.
15:49How do we treat people who disagree with
15:51us?
15:52>> Don't let even me I I told you I'm
15:54trying to get you out of here by 12. I
15:57if I if I had time
16:03I'm not listening to none of y'all cuz
16:04by 12:00 you ready to get out of here.
16:11>> How do we treat people who disagree with
16:14us?
16:16>> How do we respond when someone
16:18disappoints us? How do we conduct
16:20ourselves when we are angry?
16:24>> Are you honest in your business
16:26dealings?
16:29Do you demonstrate compassion toward
16:31people who are struggling?
16:34>> Are you willing to forgive or do you
16:36allow bitterness to control your
16:38decisions?
16:40>> Because these are the everyday
16:41situations where the light of Jesus
16:44Christ should become more visible.
16:48The greatest evidence of a kingdom
16:50culture is not how loudly you profess or
16:54you profess your faith, but it's how
16:56consistent you practice it.
17:00>> So, let me add something else here. We
17:03must be extremely careful not to become
17:05so consumed, watch this, with
17:08identifying the darkness in other
17:10people's lives
17:12>> that we fail to recognize the area in
17:15our own lives that need that same
17:18transformation.
17:21[applause]
17:24>> And it's amazing. We have people walking
17:25around today and pointing out false in
17:28people,
17:30>> but when you look at their lives,
17:33>> the things that they're saying,
17:35>> they're not a good representation of
17:37what they're trying to portray.
17:39>> So, finally, I leave you with this.
17:42Number three, keep your light refueled
17:45through daily transformation.
17:48There's a chapter in the New Testament,
17:50Titus. We don't read it a lot, but
17:52chapter 2, 11, and 12, Paul teaches that
17:55God's grace brings salvation and trains
17:58us to reject ungodliness
18:02and the passions of the world and to
18:06live self-controlled, upright, and godly
18:10lives. Notice what he said here. God's
18:14grace doesn't simply offer us salvation.
18:17Amen.
18:18>> We forget that when we surrender our
18:20lives to Jesus Christ, that's the
18:21beginning of the journey.
18:23>> We have to die daily. We have to ask God
18:26daily to help us. IT'S NOT EASY TO go to
18:29the workplace and see an evil boss
18:31TRYING TO DO YOU WRONG and you and you
18:34know YOU WANT TO CLAP BACK.
18:42[applause]
18:43>> Come on now.
18:47It's not easy TO SEE SOMEBODY WHO'VE
18:50DONE YOU WRONG
18:53AND YOU'RE FIGHTING EVERY DAY. SHOULD I
18:56SAY something
18:58>> or should I let the Lord fight the
18:59battle?
19:01>> And how many of you KNOW IT IS HARD to
19:04sit there and let the Lord
19:07>> fight the battle?
19:12So what Paul teaches us here, he teaches
19:15us how to live and he's saying here that
19:20we who have become followers of Jesus
19:23Christ must be transformed. It is the
19:26beginning of a lifelong journey of
19:29spiritual development once you give your
19:31life over to Jesus Christ. So let me be
19:33very clear with this. Please don't think
19:36for one moment that you and I are going
19:39to live on the earth never to make a
19:42mistake.
19:44>> It's not possible. Don't you believe
19:45these Christians
19:48who walk around
19:51making you think that they're righteous
19:53above you?
19:56>> They're holy. They haven't committed any
19:58sin.
20:00It is impossible for you to live without
20:03mistake, disappointing someone, or
20:05acting in a manner that contradicts the
20:07very principles
20:09we profess to believe. That's why we die
20:12daily.
20:14>> That's why we die daily from the
20:16temptation of cursing people out, of
20:18fighting.
20:20>> I almost got into a fight this week.
20:26I had to I had to remember I am
20:28transformed.
20:34>> Some of you looking at me like I can't
20:35believe he's willing to fight. See, this
20:38is where we get so deep and spiritual.
20:41>> We are human.
20:43>> We are human beings and sometime we're
20:45tested
20:47>> when we see stuff. When we see stuff,
20:50man, we do all kinds of stuff. No matter
20:52where you're from in the world, maybe
20:54you're from upstate, maybe you're from
20:56South Florida, maybe from the Caribbean.
20:58From the Caribbean, when we see
20:59foolishness, we just look, we just like
21:05I can't even say it well. We just
21:10[applause]
21:11while some of us blankety blankety blank
21:16cuz it's in us.
21:18>> THAT'S HOW WE'RE CREATED. REMEMBER JESUS
21:20WHEN JESUS, you know, got angry, he came
21:23in that Jesus showed us. That's why the
21:25Bible says, "Be angry." There's nothing
21:28wrong with being angry.
21:31Your spouse did something that you told
21:33them not to do. BE ANGRY. EXPRESS YOUR
21:35ANGER. I TOLD YOU NOT to do that. It
21:38hurts.
21:40>> Come on. Be angry.
21:42Don't be all this spiritually
21:46like God may somebody do something
21:49wrong. Oh, bless the Lord. Praise the
21:51Lord. No. No. Be angry. But don't sin.
21:57[applause]
21:59>> Don't go to fighting.
22:02Don't use words that is not becoming
22:06>> like a Christian
22:09>> because you have the Holy Spirit in you
22:11>> to do that. So we human beings
22:15none of us can ever and I know some of
22:18you going to really really just disagree
22:21with me. None of us will ever reach 100%
22:25perfection.
22:27[applause]
22:30Uh
22:32so if you encounter someone who believes
22:36that they are spiritually superior to
22:38everybody else and have never violated
22:42God's principle, be extremely careful
22:45with that person
22:48because genuine spiritual maturity is
22:51not demonstrated by pretending you are
22:54perfect.
22:56It is by acknowledging when you're
22:59wrong. You go to the father
23:02>> and you say that's not becoming of a
23:05believer. So wash me like David. Wash
23:08me.
23:10Wash my heart. Create in me a clean
23:13heart. That is why I believe that every
23:17follow of Jesus Christ must make a daily
23:20commitment to keep the light refueled in
23:25them. I want to encourage you this
23:28morning. I want to leave you with these
23:33three things. Number one,
23:37don't allow the culture around you to
23:42become more influential
23:44than the word of God within you.
23:48>> Be the light. [applause]
23:50Be the light.
23:53Even with what you see in society today,
23:56many of us are going to go to the polls
23:58tomorrow.
24:01And God knows for me, I am frustrated
24:06with government. I'm frustrated with
24:08what's going on.
24:10But I have to tell you, I'm not
24:12listening to some of these Christians.
24:15Because can I be honest with you? One of
24:17the reasons why we are where we are is
24:21because of some of us.
24:23[applause]
24:27>> We refuse to walk in the light.
24:30>> We go by our feelings.
24:33And some of us, we can be bought.
24:40[applause]
24:43>> Many of us we can be bought.
24:48throw anything out at us
24:50>> and we'll sell out our faith. Don't
24:52allow the culture around you to become
24:55more influential than the word of God.
24:58Number two, don't just profess the
25:01kingdom culture.
25:03Demonstrate it through your attitude,
25:06your character, and your action.
25:10What is your attitude?
25:12When people see you at home, when people
25:15see you in the community, when people
25:17see you in the marketplace, when they
25:19see you on the streets, what about your
25:22workplace, your place of business, when
25:25you come to church, what kind of
25:26attitude do you have?
25:29What's your character like? And this
25:31word character doesn't mean perfection.
25:35Because if the truth be told, none of us
25:38have the right to brag about I am better
25:41than you. I've done things better in
25:44life. All of us are excons.
25:54>> See, look at some of you like I'm no ex.
25:56I never done. All of us have done some.
25:59All have sinned
26:04and fell short of God's glory. We miss
26:06the mark.
26:09But every day we fight to be better, a
26:12better version of ourselves. Watch this.
26:14It's not. You see, some of us think we
26:16we doing we're doing this just for God.
26:20>> Being a person of character
26:25>> shapes your future.
26:27>> Watch this. Because if you fight every
26:30day because forgetting those things that
26:32are behind Paul says regardless of your
26:34past when you strive to be a better
26:38person then the person that you're
26:41you're dating
26:43stands a good chance
26:45of having somebody in their lives who
26:48will not be a collateral.
26:52>> Somebody who would make their lives
26:54better.
26:56When you strive to have good character,
26:58the person you marry, you now have a
27:01union, the institution that God created,
27:04you now can be in a union where two
27:06people are striving to be the best
27:08version of themselves. So yes, will
27:11there be tensions? Will there be
27:12problems? Absolutely. But both of you
27:14are working together
27:16>> to be the best person that you can. But
27:18when you lack character,
27:22>> you put that marriage,
27:24>> that family
27:26in jeopardy,
27:29>> but now you risk your future.
27:32>> When you lack character on the job,
27:35>> when you lack character at your place of
27:37business, then you set yourself up for
27:40failure.
27:41Because what's going to happen is when
27:43God entrusts you with that position or
27:46that business and you lack the
27:48character, what's going to happen? What
27:51could have been in the future?
27:53You forfeited it because you're not
27:56being a true version of yourself. And
28:00number three, and this is where I close.
28:03I'm sorry I went over seven minutes, but
28:06don't allow your light
28:10to grow dim.
28:12>> Keep it refueled
28:15through God's word and daily spiritual
28:19transformation.
28:21Don't allow your light to go dim. Oh,
28:23you're going to be tested,
28:25>> but you now have a choice to shine or
28:30become a part of the darkness.
28:33Sometimes you have to learn not to
28:36respond.
28:39>> A soft answer.
28:44>> I This is what have saved me so many
28:47times.
28:49There are times you want to respond.
28:54There are times you want to tell your
28:56side of the story.
29:00But sometimes you got to learn to shut
29:02your mouth.
29:05[applause]
29:09>> Sometimes you got to look like the fool.
29:12>> Sometimes you got to allow people to
29:14drag your name in the mud.
29:18>> Why? Because you know this battle,
29:21whatever battle you're fighting, it is
29:23not yours.
29:26It's the Lord. Let the Lord fight your
29:29battle and let your light shine
29:33when people lie on you. When your ex
29:37just literally lie on you trying to take
29:39everything from you, trying to destroy
29:42you. And you listen, you can go street
29:44on them.
29:45>> Come on now.
29:47>> We can go street on them.
29:50But if you really want to have a
29:53glorious victory,
29:56>> let the Lord lead you. And listen to me.
29:59And I swear this is it now. I'm going to
30:01I'm going to be finished with it now.
30:03Yeah, I go swearing again. Okay, but I I
30:06go swearing again. But listen, let me
30:08tell you something. The greatest way to
30:11win a battle
30:17>> [applause]
30:19>> THE GREATEST WAY TO FIGHT A BATTLE,
30:22watch this, is to stand in the middle of
30:26the fire
30:29>> and just worship.
30:32[applause]
30:33Lord, I don't know why I'm going through
30:35this. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY'RE ATTACKING
30:38ME. I DON'T KNOW WHY I FEEL THE WAY I
30:40FEEL. BUT GOD, THE ANGEL OF THE LORD,
30:43ENCAMPETH AROUND ABOUT THEM THAT FEAR
30:46THE LORD. WHEN SHADRACH, MACH, AND
30:49ABEDNEO WAS THROWN in the fire, they saw
30:53A FOURTH MAN IN THE FIRE. GOD was with
30:58them in the fire. And I'm HERE TODAY TO
31:01TELL YOU THAT GOD IS IN THE FIRE WITH
31:04YOU. LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE.
31:07COME ON, STAND ON YOUR FEET and give God
31:09some praise this morning.
31:13Don't dim your light.
31:16>> Please don't dim your light.
31:20>> Take the licking,
31:23but keep on ticking.
31:27>> I don't CARE WHAT THEY DO TO YOU.
31:30>> They knock you down, get back up.
31:36THE RIGHTEOUS MAY FALL MANY TIMES,
31:39>> but we getting back up.
31:41>> I don't count the amount of times I get
31:43hit anymore. I used to.
31:45>> I don't count how many times I get hit.
31:48>> I count how many times I get back up.
31:51[applause]
31:54>> Because you cannot keep a good man
31:57>> and a good woman down
32:00>> if God be for you. Oh, I don't know who
32:04I'm talking. IF GOD BE FOR YOU,
32:09tell me who
32:11can be against you. Hold hands with your
32:13neighbor. [cheering]
32:14I want to pray to let you go. Those of
32:16you are streaming, I got to pray this
32:18blessing over your life. You go out
32:21there and you shine.
32:24>> Many of you are going through some stuff
32:26right now, but you shine. Don't dim your
32:29light.
32:31make sure you don't become a part of the
32:33clutter and the dysfunction out there.
32:36>> So, Father, as we join hands this
32:39morning,
32:39>> Lord, I thank you
32:42for this church. I thank you for the
32:44many people are streaming each and every
32:46week that you're teaching us how to die
32:50daily to our feelings, our emotions.
32:54You're teaching us how to be people of
32:56light.
32:59It's not easy to
33:01be the light
33:03because we war against the spirit and
33:06the flesh,
33:07but give us the will to always lean to
33:11the Holy Spirit to guide us.
33:14There's a season for everything. There's
33:16a time you will tell us to defend
33:18ourselves,
33:20and then there's a time you will tell us
33:22to stand still and watch the salvation
33:25of our God.
33:26And so I believe many people all over
33:29the world and in this room, you gave us
33:32enough information today
33:34to fight our Goliaths tomorrow.
33:39>> That we can shine in the midst of
33:41confusion. We can shine in the midst of
33:44attack.
33:45I pray that you would touch [music] each
33:47and every person this morning and let
33:50this church rise up in this season to
33:54become that light. And for those who
33:57don't know you as Lord and Savior, have
33:59not surrendered their lives to you, as
34:01we give them the invitation to do so
34:02this morning, I pray that they will
34:06embrace this marvelous light that will
34:10transform them from the inside out.
34:14We thank you this morning for the
34:16sermon, for the worship, for everything
34:20that has been said and done. Thank you
34:22for an incredible week and we give you
34:25praise. Now, for those of you quickly
34:27still hold hands
34:29if you believe this is the day you need
34:31to totally surrender to God. You can't
34:34fix your life. You know you need him.
34:37It's your choice now.
34:40It's up to you.
34:42He's not forcing himself on you. He
34:44doesn't have to.
34:46>> He controlled the day you were born.
34:48>> And trust me, he has your date of death
34:50on the calendar.
34:53>> And you can't hide from him.
34:55>> That's right.
34:56>> So, it's up to you. In fact, I will
34:59encourage you to surrender to him so
35:02that he can shine his light through you
35:04for you to become the best version of
35:07who he has called you to be.
35:09And it's very simple. There's no magic
35:12to this. You have to acknowledge that
35:14you need him in your life.
35:17You have to confess that. And then after
35:20doing that, you need to get into your
35:22word.
35:24Cuz everything else is trying to
35:25influence your mind. At least let his
35:27word influence you. Go to church. Be
35:30among people who are positive, want to
35:34grow. Keep going to church. Study, read,
35:38pray. you uh every day and live every
35:42day expecting God to use whether it is
35:45church attendance, whether it's the
35:47people you talk to to help you grow in
35:50the faith. Now, if you're ready to
35:52surrender to God, please pray the
35:54sinner's prayer with me. Say, "Lord
35:56Jesus,
35:56>> Lord Jesus,
35:57>> I am a sinner.
35:58>> I'm a s
35:59>> I repent of my sins.
36:02>> I embrace the free gift of salvation.
36:04>> I embrace the free gift of salvation. I
36:06confess with my mouth.
36:08>> I confess with my mouth.
36:09>> I believe in my heart.
36:10>> I believe in my heart
36:11>> that I'm born again.
36:12>> I'm born again.
36:13>> In Jesus name.
36:15>> Amen. Come on, let's give the Lord a
36:17hand of praise.
