0:00attention to Genesis chapter 3. Genesis
0:03chapter 3.
0:07If you have your Bible, you can follow
0:09along. If not, they will put it on the
0:11screen.
0:14In the book of Genesis chapter 3,
0:17beginning at verse 8 to10, it reads,
0:22"And they heard the sound of the Lord
0:25God walking in the garden in the cool of
0:28the day,
0:30and the man and his wife
0:33hid themselves from the presence of the
0:36Lord God among the trees of the garden.
0:41But the Lord God called to the man and
0:43said to him,
0:46"Where are you?"
0:48And he said, "I heard the sound of you
0:52in the garden,
0:54and I was afraid
0:56because I was naked,
0:59and I hid myself.
1:03I heard the sound of you in the garden
1:08and I was afraid
1:11because I was naked
1:14and I hid myself. Father,
1:18this is where you get to use us as
1:22instruments.
1:25There are people in this room and people
1:27are watching around the world
1:30who are waiting
1:34to hear something
1:37that would connect with their spirit
1:40that would confirm
1:43some things that they've been praying
1:44about.
1:48that hopefully that this message today
1:50will bring hope to a father,
1:54to a young man who will one day become a
1:59father,
2:01that this message will somehow motivate
2:04him
2:06to be the best version of himself. So
2:09use me today. I pray in Jesus name.
2:14Amen. Could you give the Lord a hand of
2:16praise one more time?
2:20And please be seated in the presence of
2:22the Lord. The text we just read today,
2:24Genesis chapter 3,
2:28verses 8 to9,
2:30I'd like to use as a subject this
2:33morning.
2:35Man of destiny,
2:38come home.
2:40Man of destiny,
2:42come home.
2:46>> There was a man who met the love of his
2:50life one day.
2:52They dated,
2:55they fell in love
2:58and eventually got married.
3:01He believed that he had found the love
3:04of his life, a woman worthy of carrying
3:08his name and building a future together.
3:13And after a few years,
3:16they were blessed with a beautiful
3:18daughter. Now, as she grew, one of the
3:23highlights of his day was coming home
3:26every day from work, hearing her laugh.
3:33Every evening
3:35she would wait for him, and the moment
3:39he walked through the door, they would
3:42play what some of us are very familiar
3:45with, hide and seek.
3:49Sometimes
3:51he would hide in the closet. Sometimes
3:55he would hide behind a door. Sometimes
3:58he would run through the house allowing
4:00her to chase him from room to room.
4:04And there were other times
4:07they
4:08uh would bond in such a way that this
4:13hide and seek became a daily routine.
4:18Those moments for the daughter and
4:21father built trust. Those moments built
4:26memories, built a bond between them.
4:30And that was a happy home, happy
4:34relationship with a father and daughter.
4:39But as you know,
4:41life happened.
4:43Things happen in life.
4:47Married problems surfaced, arguments
4:51increased, disappointments accumulated,
4:55stress became too much to bear. And
4:57eventually after 10 years of marriage,
5:01the relationship with her father and
5:05their mother ended
5:08completely ended. Suddenly
5:11the routine of hide and seek stopped.
5:16The laughter stopped. The daily presence
5:19of a father in the home stopped. This
5:24little girl who once chased her father
5:27through the house now only to hear his
5:31voice
5:34on the phone. And one day she asked
5:38her dad a question that pierced the
5:41heart of her father. And the question
5:44was,
5:45"Dad,
5:47when are you coming home?"
5:50Sadly, this story is repeated every
5:54single day in our communities across
5:57this nation.
6:00Different races, different cultures,
6:03different income levels, different
6:06backgrounds.
6:08Yet this same question remains today.
6:13Dad,
6:14when are you coming home?
6:18You see, some children ask it verbally
6:22while others are asking the question
6:24emotionally. Others ask it silently
6:28through hurt, through anger, rebellion,
6:32or even through insecurity.
6:36You see the father in this story didn't
6:39begin as a bad man. He was a good
6:43father. He be began his life as a loving
6:48husband, a responsible father, a
6:51provider, and even a protector. But
6:54somewhere along the way, life knocked
6:58him out of his position. I want to
7:01repeat that. Somewhere along the line,
7:04somewhere along the way, life knocked
7:09this father out of position. And that is
7:13exactly what happened to Adam in Genesis
7:19chapter 3.
7:21I want you to know that Adam was present
7:25until he wasn't.
7:29Let me say it again. Adam was present
7:33until he wasn't. I believe with all of
7:37my heart that most men were once present
7:43until
7:45they weren't. And so the Bible tells us
7:48that Adam enjoyed REGULAR FELLOWSHIP
7:51WITH GOD JUST LIKE THIS little girl.
7:54Every day God would meet him in the
7:56garden. There was communion. There was a
7:59purpose for his life.
8:02Adam and God had a relationship. There
8:05was a alignment.
8:07Adam was in sync with God's will for his
8:11life. Adam knew who he was because he
8:14knew whose he was.
8:18>> But after sin entered his life,
8:21everything changed. The same man who
8:24once walked with God was now hiding from
8:28God. The same man who was assigned to
8:31lead was now avoiding his
8:34responsibility. The same man who had a
8:36purpose was now filled with fear. Now
8:42notice something important here.
8:45God asked Adam, "Where are you? Where
8:51are you?" God wasn't asking Adam about
8:54his location.
8:56God knew exactly where Adam was. God was
9:00asking Adam about, watch this, his
9:02condition.
9:05Adam, where are you spiritually?
9:08Adam, where are you mentally?
9:13And I have to pause here for a moment
9:15and talk to men for you to understand.
9:18Until you answer the question, where are
9:20you spiritually and mentally, you're
9:23going to constantly live your life in a
9:27360 degree attitude,
9:32only to find yourself back at the same
9:34place over and over again with no
9:39progress.
9:42Adam, where are you spiritually? Where
9:45are you mentally? Adam, you see, you
9:49need to answer this question
9:52when it comes to your position in God.
9:56And I believe that God is still asking
9:58that question to all of the men today.
10:02Man of destiny, where are you? Father,
10:06where are you? Husband, where are you?
10:08Leader, where are you?
10:12Not because God doesn't know where you
10:14are. He knows exactly where you are as a
10:17man, but because sometimes you lose
10:21sight of who you are.
10:25Now, this is the big picture. Now, this
10:26is the big one. Now,
10:28sometimes we men lose sight of who we
10:34are.
10:35We're looking for affirmation from
10:37women.
10:39We're looking for direction from
10:41society.
10:43And only God can clearly give you
10:47direction.
10:49>> Until you come IN ALIGNMENT WITH GOD,
10:51YOU'RE GOING TO always miss the mark.
10:55Always.
10:57>> You want to know the greatest crisis
11:00facing our men today? The grace greatest
11:04crisis facing men today is not a lack of
11:07talent. No, it's not a lack of
11:10intelligence. It's not a lack of
11:13opportunity.
11:15The greatest crisis facing men today is
11:19being disconnected from God's purpose
11:22for their lives.
11:24>> That's it.
11:26So when a man loses connection with
11:28God's purpose, he begins hiding himself
11:33behind things,
11:35hiding behind his success, hiding behind
11:39his money, hiding behind his work,
11:41hiding behind addictions, hiding behind
11:44pride, hiding behind, here's the big
11:47one anger
11:50>> hiding behind disappointment.
11:54But regardless
11:56of what you are hiding behind,
12:00I want to tell you, you're still hiding.
12:04You're still hiding.
12:06And whenever a man hides from God, he's
12:09also hiding from his responsibility, the
12:13responsibilities that God has assigned
12:15him to do. So I firmly believe that God
12:18is still saying to men today, men of
12:22destiny,
12:23come home.
12:25God is not necessar necessarily asking
12:28you to go to a particular address. He's
12:31actually asking you to come home to your
12:34purpose. Come home to your purpose.
12:39Come home to your assignment. Come home
12:42to your relationship with him. come home
12:46to the man that he has created you to
12:49be. The truth is, brothers, you're not
12:53where you're supposed to be.
12:56You're full of talent. You're full of
12:59purpose.
13:01You have yet to become the best version
13:04of yourself. And you've allowed your
13:06past traumas. You've allowed your
13:08present situation. You have allowed what
13:11you're going through to dictate the kind
13:15of man that you ought to be.
13:18I understand that society is coming at
13:21you. I understand that you're fighting
13:23wars at the workplace. I understand that
13:27you're fighting in the marketplace. And
13:29sadly, many of you have come home to
13:33fight battles, too.
13:36But regardless of the battles you're
13:38fighting, God is calling you to come
13:41home to him. Come home to your purpose.
13:44And therefore, I want to challenge every
13:46man to do three things at this stage in
13:51your life. Please don't forget these
13:54three things. Number one, never hide
13:58from God.
14:00>> Never hide from God. Genesis 3:10 tells
14:03us, watch this. Adam said, "I WAS AFRAID
14:07AND I hid myself,
14:10hiding from God, like many of you today.
14:14I messed up too much. I've done all
14:17these things. My reputation,
14:21I can't deal with this anymore." You're
14:24willing to give up regardless of your
14:26struggles. So, you're afraid. So, you're
14:28hiding from God. You're hiding from God
14:30with your purpose. Fear caused Adam to
14:34hide. Many men do the same thing today.
14:38When trouble comes, they withdraw. When
14:41they fail, they disappear. When life
14:44becomes difficult, they abandon their
14:46responsibilities.
14:50>> Because you see, we don't talk that
14:52much. We don't seek counsel. We don't
14:54seek advice. We don't seek therapists.
14:59We hide behind our manhood
15:03and there's a lot coming at you. I must
15:05admit there's a lot coming at you. But
15:09fear will cause you to hide from God.
15:12Pride will cause you to hide from God.
15:15You see, when trouble hits your life, it
15:17is an opportunity to BECOME THE BEST
15:20VERSION OF YOURSELF AND NOT THE WORST.
15:25When you're under pressure,
15:27>> whether it's coming from the
15:28marketplace, whether it's coming from
15:30family, relatives, whether it's coming
15:32from the girl you're dating, whether
15:34it's coming from the woman you're
15:36married to, whether it's coming from
15:38your children, every time you are faced
15:41with a challenge as a man, it is an
15:45opportunity not to show the worst of
15:47you. It is an OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW THE
15:49BEST of you.
15:55Use every difficult op uh situations
16:00as an opportunity
16:02to be the best dad, to be the best
16:05boyfriend, to be the best husband, to be
16:08the best coworker, to be the best boss.
16:12Use it. Don't get angry. Don't get
16:15bitter. Don't use your fist. Don't use
16:18your hands. Don't use your words.
16:21>> Amen. Don't use being cold, insensitive
16:26to vent to say who you are. God never
16:32called men to run from pressure.
16:36>> Listen to me carefully. God never called
16:40men to run from pressure.
16:46>> Half these women don't understand the
16:48pressure you're under.
16:51They don't. Now, they going to be mad at
16:54me right now, you know, and they're not
16:55going to say, "Amen." But I'm going to
16:57tell the truth. Half of these ladies
16:59have no clue
17:04of the pressure you're under.
17:08But you cannot run from pressure.
17:12God never called you to run away from
17:15pressure.
17:17When the heat is too hot to bear, you
17:20stand firm and you don't run from God.
17:23You stand up to the failure. You stand
17:25up to the mistake. You stand up to the
17:28attack AND BE THE BEST VERSION OF
17:30YOURSELF. AND GOD'S GOING TO HONOR YOU
17:32FOR DOING THAT.
17:37SO, he never called you to run away from
17:39pressure. He called men to lead through
17:45pressure.
17:47>> He called us to lead through pressure.
17:50Leadership isn't proven when everything
17:53is easy. I learned that as a pastor.
17:57My leadership was never easy when
18:01everything was going well. It was when
18:03what when I was under pressure.
18:06LEADERSHIP IS PROVEN WHEN LIFE becomes
18:10difficult. A godly man remains faithful
18:14when he's frustrated. A godly man
18:18remains responsible when he is hurting.
18:22And a godly man remains committed when
18:25he's disappointed.
18:27>> And let me just interject this in
18:31to the ladies.
18:33When you hurt, you cry, you scream, you
18:36kick, you yell. Oh, you let it known
18:41when you're hurting
18:46cuz you're emotional.
18:49Let me talk to those of you who are
18:50dating and especially those of you are
18:53married.
18:57Instead of trying to
19:00spend time on how much money he can give
19:03you
19:07and how he can give you a house, car,
19:09set you up for life.
19:13You want to get the best out of a man.
19:17Try to learn to discover when he's
19:21hurting silently
19:23and tap into that.
19:27and be his comfort.
19:36>> When you can be a man's comfort when
19:38he's hurting,
19:42not your mouth,
19:46it's not your attitude.
19:48IT'S HAVING THE ABILITY TO WATCH YOUR
19:51man knowing he hasn't said a word, but
19:54you know baby's hurting,
19:57>> baby's under pressure.
20:00And letting God give you the wisdom to
20:03go up to him,
20:06>> and you'll be shocked. Sometimes it's
20:09just a hug.
20:11>> Sometimes it's just a tap on the
20:13shoulder.
20:15>> I got you.
20:18All right. See, y'all y'all y'all not
20:20receiving that now.
20:26>> You see, a godly man remains committed
20:30when he's disappointed. David declared
20:32in Psalm 46:1, "God is our refuge and
20:36strength, a very present help when in
20:39time of trouble." So I want to encourage
20:42all the men not to run from God but
20:45instead to run to God.
20:48Number two, start rebuilding from ground
20:52zero.
20:54Start rebuilding your life from ground
20:57zero. One of the enemy's greatest lies
21:02is this. You've messed up too much to
21:06recover.
21:09But through the scripture,
21:11we see otherwise. God specializes in
21:15rebuilding broken people. Don't forget
21:18that Noah rebuilt after the flood.
21:21Joseph rebuilt after betrayal. David
21:24rebuilt after after after
21:28denial or after failure, I should say.
21:31Peter rebuilt after denial. The prodigal
21:34son rebuilt his life after rebellion.
21:38And so I want you to understand that God
21:41is a God of second chances, brothers,
21:44and sometimes third and sometimes
21:47fourth.
21:48>> Isaiah 61:4
21:50tells us, "They shall rebuild." Now
21:53listen, this is very important. Now I
21:55want all the men to listen to this. This
21:56is scripture. Now the Bible says they
21:59shall rebuild the ancient ruins
22:03and they shall raise up the former what?
22:09Devastations.
22:11Notice God doesn't always remove the
22:14ruins from your life. MAN, I WISH I
22:16COULD TELL YOU TODAY THAT GOD WILL JUST
22:18REMOVE ALL OF THE PROBLEMS AND ALL OF
22:21THE NEGATIVE situations away from you.
22:23No. I wish I could tell you that he
22:25gives you the strength, however, to
22:28rebuild your life with the ruins that
22:31were meant to destroy you.
22:33>> Yes, sir.
22:34>> So, I don't care how life has rubbed you
22:38the wrong way and I don't care how
22:40you've got a bad past or maybe you had
22:43bad relationships in the past and maybe
22:45you messed it up. Maybe you can admit
22:47that you did wrong.
22:50BUT COULD IT BE THAT GOD IS SAYING TO
22:52YOU TODAY, man of destiny, come home.
22:55Let me use the ruins of your life
22:59to make the best of your life.
23:03Are you hearing me today?
23:07Number three,
23:10this is very important. God calls those
23:14he equips.
23:17Many men disqualify themselves. They say
23:20things like, "I'm not good enough. I'm
23:24not smart enough. I've made too many
23:27mistakes. I'm too old." Or, "I'm too
23:30broken." Yet, God has never called for
23:34perfect people, perfect men.
23:39However, he calls for willing people,
23:42willing men.
23:45So stop making excuses
23:47because you've made a mistake.
23:50Stop it.
23:52Sitting in this room today and those of
23:54you are streaming, many of you men,
23:56you've made a mistake.
23:59You've made mistakes.
24:02And society is going to constantly shove
24:05it down your throat every single day to
24:07remind you. We live in a society that
24:10finds pleasure in rubbing things in your
24:14face.
24:15But we all make mistakes. Moses
24:19had excuses. Gideon had insecurity
24:23issues. Jeremiah felt inadequate. Peter
24:27was impulsive.
24:29Paul had a painful past. Yet God used
24:34every one of them.
24:36>> Yes, he did.
24:37>> Every one of them. Romans 11:29, these
24:40are the words of Paul. He said, 'For the
24:43gifts and the calling of God are what?
24:47Irrevocable. Do you not know some of you
24:50guys? As much as you are you are not
24:53doing what God has called you to do, as
24:55much much as you're messing up your
24:57life, as much as when you look at
24:59yourself in the mirror, you're not
25:01pleased with what you are doing. And
25:04then and I your girlfriend is fussing at
25:06you, your wife is fussing at you, your
25:08kids think you're the worst man in the
25:10world. Society has rejected you. As much
25:13as you're going through that horrible
25:15season of your life, I want you to
25:17understand the gift of God is still in
25:20you.
25:23>> It's still in you.
25:26YOU'RE STILL ANOINTED. YOU'RE STILL
25:28CALLED. YOU'RE STILL EMPOWERED. YOU'RE
25:30STILL BLESSED. YOU'RE STILL A MAN OF
25:33DESTINY.
25:35God is just waiting.
25:37>> Waiting for you to be like the prodigal
25:40son to come to yourself
25:44>> to acknowledge that you HAVE SINNED TO
25:47ACKNOWLEDGE that you've walked away from
25:49him to turn back to him. So if God keeps
25:54speaking to you through sermons like
25:56this, through convictions, through
25:59dreams, through circumstances,
26:02it's because he hasn't given up on you.
26:09>> Now, this is the best part of the
26:10message as I try to close this out. He
26:13hasn't given up on you.
26:17Oh, your children probably. Cuz you know
26:20what? Yes, let's face it. You've been a
26:22horrible dad
26:24and your kids gave up on you.
26:27The child's mother gave up on you.
26:31Family gave up on you. The system has
26:34given up on you.
26:37But when it comes to God, listen to me
26:39brothers. Pay attention here.
26:42God has not given up on you.
26:49You still have a chance.
26:52You still have a chance to turn your
26:54life over to him
26:57and watch him prove to your critics
27:02that he's a god of a second chance,
27:05third chance, fourth chance. He's still
27:08calling your name for you to come back
27:11to him. He's still saying, "Come home.
27:16Come home to your purpose. Come home to
27:19your faith. Come home to your
27:21assignment.
27:22Come home to your destiny. The destiny
27:25that I prepared for you.
27:27So I believe there are many men
27:29listening to me today. You're hearing
27:32two voices.
27:34Two voices.
27:36One sounds like the little girl in the
27:39story I previously mentioned asking,
27:42"Dad,
27:43when are you coming home?"
27:48The other voice sounds like God asking
27:52you like he asked Adam,
27:55"Where are you?
27:59Dad, when are you coming home?"
28:02God,
28:04man of destiny,
28:07where are you?
28:09You're out of position.
28:13You're out of place.
28:16Don't play hide and seek with me. That's
28:18for your children.
28:22I know where you are.
28:24And if you make your bed in hell,
28:28I'll find you.
28:31I'll find you.
28:34You see, the beautiful thing about these
28:36two questions is
28:39they still require an answer.
28:44The God who called Adam out of hiding
28:48is calling you today and he's saying to
28:51you,
28:52"Come home."
28:55The God who restores Peter is calling
28:58you today. The God who rebuilt David is
29:01calling you today. The God who sent
29:03Jesus to redeem fallen humanity is
29:06calling you today. So, fathers,
29:09husbands sons
29:11godfathers, men of God,
29:15come home.
29:18Come home to your purpose.
29:21Come home to your responsibility.
29:24Come home to your faith.
29:27Come home to your family.
29:30Come home
29:33to the person that God has called you to
29:36be.
29:38I close with this.
29:44How many more years
29:47are you going to run from woman to
29:50woman,
29:52job to job?
29:55How many more years
29:58are you going to play hide and seek with
30:00God?
30:02How many more years?
30:07How many more years?
30:11The last thing you want
30:14is for your connection with God to end.
30:18>> That little girl
30:21was only communicating with her father.
30:24Listen to me.
30:26through the phone because he was no
30:27longer at home
30:30and she was desperate for him to come
30:32home. He had a chance to go home because
30:38either he and this ex-wife could
30:40reconcile or he could still be there for
30:44the child.
30:46That's the story.
30:49But in reality, listen to me. The day
30:52you die,
30:56you no longer will have a direct
30:59connection with God.
31:03>> For God to ask you after death, he will
31:06not ask you after death. I promise you
31:09to come home.
31:12You can only come home
31:14when you're alive.
31:18Amen.
31:20>> And so with every head bowed,
31:24every eyes closed so you don't get
31:26distracted. I want to close with a
31:28prayer.
31:31And I'm going to ask every man
31:34in this room.
31:38You sat there
31:41and you heard pastor preached
31:45and you know God was speaking directly
31:48to you
31:50and you know you've been hiding
31:54and I believe that God tailored this
31:57message as the greatest Father's Day
31:59gift for you
32:02and you know
32:05that you've left home not physical home,
32:09but you've left the presence of God.
32:13And you know this day is for you. And if
32:15you'll say, "Pastor,
32:18I'm going to answer to God today.
32:21I'm coming home." If that's you, I'm
32:24going to ask you to do something that
32:26may at first make you feel shy or timid
32:30or scared, but please, would you do it?
32:35pastor standing here ready to receive
32:37you. If you're going to make that
32:40decision to come home to God today, I'd
32:43love to pray with you. I want you to
32:44move from your seat. No one looking
32:45around.
32:47I want the men to feel safe. I want you
32:50to move from your seat, brothers, and I
32:53want you to come right down here and
32:54stand before me. And I want to pray with
32:56you. Come on now.
32:59No hesitation.
33:01No hesitation.
33:03Come on down. No hesitation. I'll wait
33:06for you. No, nobody should be clapping
33:09because you have no idea if anybody's
33:11moving.
33:14Thank you. Thank you for your applause.
33:16But but but I want this moment to really
33:19be sacred. Come on. Come on, guys. Come
33:21on. Come on home.
33:25Man of destiny,
33:27come home.
33:30Come home.
33:36Come on. Come on.
33:39Come on. We'll wait for you, sir. We'll
33:42wait for you. We'll wait for you. If you
33:44still feel God is pulling at you and
33:46you're still seated,
33:49I challenge you. Be bold.
33:52Be bold.
33:54Come on. Come on home to Jesus.
33:59Now gentlemen,
34:01I commend you today for taking this bold
34:05step. It's not easy in front of all
34:08these people, in front of the world. I
34:11know it's not easy.
34:13But what I will say to you before I pray
34:15with you is this. Listen to me.
34:18You can keep blaming people
34:22for where you are. Yes,
34:27maybe they hurt you. Maybe they did you
34:29wrong. I get it. Maybe you never had a
34:32father.
34:34I I I I I'm not belittling your issues,
34:38but you can keep blaming people and
34:40let's see how far that going to get you.
34:43You have a moment in the history of your
34:46life right now
34:48to say, "God,
34:50I will not die until I become the man
34:56you've ordained me to be.
35:00You see, when you make that commitment
35:04and you start the process, your life
35:07will change

36:56He himself at one point in his life lost
36:59his identity
37:02and in a system where he has a biracial
37:06um you know kind of relationship. mother

37:12raised by a stepfather
37:15that this man was able to not be bitter
37:20against society.
37:22This man was UP AGAINST A WHOLE LOT OF
37:25STUFF AND BECAME THE PRESIDENT OF THE
37:29UNITED States twice
37:32of America. IT GETS BETTER BECAUSE A MAN
37:37WITH A PAST LIKE THAT WITH THE STRUGGLES
37:40AND THE ISSUE STAYED IN THE WHITE HOUSE
37:42FOR EIGHT YEARS. NO scandal
37:50>> and HE STOOD UP ON Thursday
37:54and he said he's not immune
37:57to the feelings.
38:00And I sat there
38:03and I looked at him
38:05and I said, "Now that's a man
38:09who have allowed God
38:12>> to bring the best version of himself
