0:20spoke on I think it was on

0:28about your mom you know how your mom was
0:31transitioning and the moment you land in
0:34Fort Lauderdale you got the news that
0:36she
0:37passed so he's here this morning so when
0:40I got backstage and he they told me that
0:43his mom actually passed um I came and I
0:47said look if you don't want to do this
0:49you don't have to
0:52and and say that again they bir me to do
0:56this they birth you to do this

1:11sure they they're hearing

1:51this because we got to notice what we're
1:52dealing with take a deep breath

2:02every individual is dealing through the
2:05pant and finding a pace
2:09yes I was in the pant yesterday and he
2:13calmed me down back to my Pace I had to
2:18remember boy the race is not given like
2:22what is m is crazy the you got to find
2:27your pace yes and I'mma give it back to

2:33letting boy I don't your

2:51today I I was on YouTube and I saw just
2:57a clip of of your presentation when you
3:01were doing the NFL um thing and uh your
3:05story of
3:08overcoming
3:09difficulties and uh this morning I think
3:13there are thousands of people watching
3:15via online people in this building and I
3:18wanted to really use you this
3:21morning as a way to empower God's people
3:27that no matter what you go through no
3:30matter what life hits you with that you
3:33can triumph over it little did I know
3:36when I when I DM you and you
3:40responded you personally responded to me
3:43I always
3:44do I mean I was shocked I was expecting
3:48your assistant or somebody I'll be
3:50shocked when people actually DM me and
3:53I'm going to respond okay well I
3:55appreciate that man and to know the day
3:58I brought you in
4:00is the day you're going through your
4:02second situation so I want to set this
4:05up this way to let people know that life
4:07presents
4:08challenges often intertwined with
4:12tragedy setbacks failures and
4:15disappointments even those identifying
4:19themselves as Christians confront the
4:21harsh realities of life you see it is
4:25crucial and it's the crucial question
4:28really is whether we will spend our
4:32lives questioning why certain things
4:34occur or will we view those challenges
4:38as opportunities to uncover the mighty
4:41power of God you can use the challenges
4:45to get frustrated and think that why you
4:49or you can say God now here's an
4:51opportunity uh to prove yourself to us
4:54now let me go back to Tommy let's go

5:00fell life was good for you right uh
5:04first thing I want you to talk to these
5:06guys out
5:08here um you get into Fame and
5:15money is that all there is to
5:19life not at
5:21all
5:24no not at all I I was always
5:27uncomfortable I I was rais in pumpo

5:34beach from Texas to pumpo beach I spent
5:37most of my real time my granny and my
5:40grandfather built 6th Avenue elely High
5:43School all that's my family that we
5:46Apollo park that's I was raised there
5:50and I was going back and my daddy with
5:52all I got five sisters so my dad would
5:54always make me stay with all my
5:56cousins it is the pumpo was a rough
5:59place

6:39and success but I think you quickly
6:42realize money and fame is not the answer
6:44to everything no not at not at all I was

6:48uncomfortable and I never felt good
6:50enough for what I
6:52had and I didn't know how to like to tap
6:58in and impostor syndrome mhm M where you
7:02just don't know like how do I get out I
7:05got all this money I got all this so
7:07when I say pumpo I come from the
7:10porch I'm a porch
7:12person and when you can't feed the whole
7:15porch you can't come back to the
7:18porch so they ask the people how do
7:21players go broke cuz most black folk got
7:24to take care of everybody when they make
7:28it
7:31wow I've always been a porch person I'm
7:34responsible to showing back up on the
7:37porch How I Live the porch don't care
7:39how famous you
7:40are the porch want you to come back I
7:43I'm Tommy to the world but I'm TJ on the
7:48porch wow there's way we we all have to
7:52the word on I never cared about what man
7:55said I cared about what my mom and my
7:57daddy said

8:02your daddy was a pastor the baddest man
8:04in the
8:06land and your mommy was an evangelist
8:09mad is evangelist in I'm telling you
8:11well what kind of an impact now your mom
8:14just passed right and I know it's cuz I
8:16I see it in your eyes when I got into
8:18the Green Room I'm pushing I I I I know
8:20you're pushing I I I I can see because
8:23you know I told you it was about four
8:26years ago December 31st in the midst of
8:30Co I got a call early in the morning my
8:33sister says mom is gone I'll never
8:37forget it you know I I never forget it
8:40and when I got up there to the house and
8:42to actually see my mom you know the body
8:45just you know laid out there it was just
8:48crazy that's your mother MH so for you I
8:54mean what kind of the impact they made
8:56on you man and and to know that you're
9:00you're inner audience today less than 24
9:04hours of hearing of the passing of your
9:05mom what kind of tribute man would you
9:08give to
9:13them
9:15just I thank them I I I come from some
9:21real life
9:23folk that trust God no matter what it
9:27looks like no matter what it's going
9:29through no matter I come from some
9:31people that's why I I said I had to I
9:34had to be here my mother already told me
9:37she was leaving she appears to me I I'm
9:39a dreamer I saw my mama in a green dress
9:42and she told me boy let's get out of
9:44here like I already knew and my daddy
9:46was the baddest man he passed three
9:49years ago and my mother was sad every
9:51day without him I thank them people for
9:54making me every day I said that the
9:56Michelangelo of the statue they made me
10:00they breathe into me and my mother I I
10:03would wake up with OE dripping down my
10:05face cuz my mama would scar me in the
10:08middle I come from and then my mother
10:10said I was I was my mother said I was
10:13born with uh
10:15jaice and she said the doctor said he
10:17won't make it till tomorrow and she said
10:19yes he will and she said I held you up
10:21to God and I told God that he will serve
10:23him to the day he died so my mama always
10:26told me but this ain't even your life
10:29wow wow I done gave you to God when you
10:32first came out so what you deal with
10:36what God got it my father looked me
10:40straight on his deathbed my father said
10:42I ain't never been a man that can speak
10:44like you talk like you walk like you
10:46move like you he said I'm not just
10:48talking to tell you my dad a real
10:51boy that boy say something different in
10:54your stomach don't no matter what comes
10:58no matter what happens happens you keep
11:00moving you keep
11:04speaking I like your eyes man you got
11:09real Soul question you with with your
11:12mom whether every time you were doing
11:14something wrong messing
11:16up and all of a sudden the words of your
11:20mama just hit
11:22you but my mama the coldest
11:27man yeah my m caught me outside smoking
11:30weed and drinking
11:33wine I had lost a wife I had I was I'm I
11:36was going through and my mama comes and
11:39she she comes out and she say boy that
11:42ain't going to work she was telling you
11:44the weed it ain't going to work the weed
11:46ain't going to work nothing you can't do
11:50both you going to have to pick what you
11:53want to
11:54do if you want God to use you she a
11:57serious woman man it's worth I'm telling
12:00you I said I'm about to
12:06preach that's why I had to
12:08come I know the power of God is moving
12:11and pulling and
12:14like but ain't no better man I trust
12:17your eyes man like you all right bro I'm
12:22tell you for real boy I know people man
12:25I know them so listen listen walkers
12:29back to when you're in the prime of your
12:31life and this is a story that touched me

12:37listen there are guys in this room today

12:41streaming and um ladies sometimes think
12:44they are the only ones who go through
12:46pain the the only ones who go through uh
12:50trauma but you're in the prime of your
12:52life walk us through
12:55to just before you got the news that
12:58your wife
12:59ped I I really want you to minister to
13:01these people about that because what
13:04start with life is good and then what
13:08yeah so I'm I'm I'm the first to the
13:12University of Oklahoma I went to
13:14University of
13:16Oklahoma University of Oklahoma I
13:18believe it was discovered in
13:20[Music]
13:221779 I was the first freshman to ever
13:25start in the University of Oklahoma I
13:28was the first to be on Sports
13:29Illustrated I was the first in the
13:32NFL to ever be paid 10 million in my
13:36position 10 million a
13:38season I was the
13:41first the first take
13:44hits the first don't know I didn't know
13:47I didn't understand what I I just
13:50thought
13:52that nothing bad could happen to me I'm
13:55my parents are blessed they blessing me
13:57like the the back end of my life has
14:00been
14:02crazy I won I won up front to people
14:06look like I'm winning all day winning
14:08winning winning winning no I've been
14:11getting
14:11hit from every side
14:15hit people don't know that I not only
14:18lost a wife at the top of my career the
14:22career I had to walk away from football
14:24cuz the coach say Tommy you your mind is
14:28bigger in
14:30football I had coaches that would not
14:32take me back I coach I could play he say
14:35no boy you got kids to
14:38raise and Tommy your soul got to teach
14:40God like I had coaches cover me that
14:43won't let me I got locked out of the
14:47NFL God let me do eight season that was
14:51it and then you're
14:54serving seven years eight years serving
14:57to something
14:59seven I I did eight years enough not to
15:02be a slave in
15:05it
15:06wow kept my
15:09mind through the
15:12process but not only did I lose a wife I
15:15lost a
15:16daughter 4 months walked in the room
15:20gone
15:21seds I lost a wife to a brain anism
15:26suddenly I want to tell you that sudden
15:28things
15:30happen sudden things happen
15:33happen sudden things happen that's why
15:37I'm talking about the pant and the
15:40pace the
15:42pant oh man that's the news you heard
15:45but the pace is finding back get back in
15:49the
15:51pace and
15:53listen the race is not
15:57given come on
15:59but to the ones that end yes
16:04sir your race is your
16:09race to don't look at nobody
16:14else that ain't your
16:16business you stay in what God has given
16:20this is the you stay this is yours well
16:24they got this and they and God they
16:26doing a find your
16:33pace find
16:35it and I don't know who I'm talking to
16:38but the world is in a
16:44pant looking around talking about his
16:47stuff her stuff boy that ain't realer
16:49than what you got right take care of

17:01I stood over my wife and I watched
17:05the all the sounds on the
17:08machine and when she took her last
17:11breath I promised God that I will make
17:13sure people that are living won't play
17:23dead if you're in the land of the Living
17:25God got something for you if you're in
17:27the land of the Living God got something
17:30for you he got healing he got power if
17:34you're in the land of the

17:43you got to when I tell you we all need
17:46one another I'm am not about to preach I
17:49call myself a
17:50Reacher cuz folk only understand me if
17:53they've been down before I don't talk at

17:58them but when I'm looking over my wife I
18:03really made a real decision to say
18:07God I stare at people sometimes and just
18:09wash their chest like I really know do
18:13y'all know y'all really doing
18:16this and do you know you only got so
18:18much time to do it and did you say
18:22everything you supposed to say did you
18:24love on somebody the way you supposed to
18:26love did you say sorry sorry for what
18:29you said that
18:31like boy this ain't no
18:34game I don't do Show Business NFL that's
18:37the last person going to use
18:39me I'm tell you for real I don't show I
18:42don't do show business I don't play with
18:44people I don't play with folk I don't
18:46play with nobody but I want
18:49anybody anybody to know boy if God put
18:53life in you you better be

19:32people living person reminding and even
19:36in my own
19:39self there's days that I don't I I I I
19:42used to judge like depression ain't real
19:45anxiety a no I really went through all
19:47of it you went through all of it all of
19:50it I'm still in it but you know guys but
19:53but but here's the thing though uh
19:57Tommy a lot of men cover that
20:01up we hide our
20:04emotions they're going through
20:08trauma and we hide
20:11it how important it is for us to just be
20:15men and like you said just be open to
20:20hey stuff
20:23happens I learned the difference between
20:25a human
20:26doing and a human human
20:32being the human doing plays football he
20:34do but the human being got to be all
20:38that that's the daddy that's the it
20:40wears a lot that's the wife at that's
20:42the going out a human being is the real
20:46person real
20:48deal it's the baby it's the it's the
20:50child I just want everybody in here
20:53never lose your
20:55child the child in you don't don't ever
20:58let nobody steal your laugh don't ever
21:01let nobody steal your joy don't ever let

26:52endure endure and I believe that's what
26:55every human is doing trying trying to do
26:59but I want to encourage them to endure
27:00to the

27:06it is today that you struck everybody
27:08got an

29:05handle them crazy they they they they
29:08you just always somebody always
29:11playing somebody always play like when I

29:18like I love raising my children I love I
29:22love being at home in today's time like
29:32I'm so scared of
29:34folk I'm telling you since since Co I
29:37don't know if y'all something
29:40happened I kind of got used to not being
29:42around
29:44people I know I got to annoy I I know I
29:47like to but I kind of like I just want
29:50to be I I co that thing made me know put

29:59important I love driving my son to
30:03basketball practice and picking my
30:05daughter the simple

30:35like if I don't got you I don't have

31:49for a short time I had the baby I walked
31:51in the room four
31:54months flipped the over cold
31:58what is that s sudden infant death

32:05was getting a breast
32:10reduction went off I was married for 41
32:17days she was getting a breast
32:21reduction popped up off the table and
32:26sudden
32:30I had a nanny that's from Fort laale I
32:33thought I was rich enough to like I had
32:34a nanny that was for real my nanny used
32:36to take her name as Miss B Brenda
32:38cheetah she from pump she from for
32:42there died on the
32:46highway a a drunk man came up one way
32:49and exploded a car
32:54suddenly I thought I could buy my way
32:56out like that now miss miss
32:59beone Mama
33:02gone yeah I have no other choice but to
33:06trust the Lord
33:11Brother trust well well we we going to
33:15wrap this up tmy and then we going to
33:18pray I I sense God is doing something
33:21here I really sense this your book you
33:24have some of the books available here
33:26today I believe and they they'll be in
33:29the lobby I I want to
33:31encourage I'm not biased here please
33:34ladies just forgive me
33:37here but I don't know how many books
33:39he's brought but I want every man listen
33:43to
33:44me if you don't even have any money find
33:46a woman and borrow it
33:50from trust me when we are broke women

34:03me but I want every man in this house to
34:08get to his
34:10table and get a copy of his
34:12book he's not here by

34:50him he didn't go through praise and
34:52worship announcements
34:55offering Jesus Tommy would just sit with
34:58ordinary

35:07him and they will always do Church
35:11differently because the people in the
35:13synagogue used to have issues with them
35:14hey why you hanging out with them
35:17folks why you doing things
35:20differently maybe there were men in the
35:23synagogue who were saying we're not used
35:26to this
35:29you you hanging with them boys you you
35:31you talking to them and he had to
35:33correct them one day says I was not
35:36sent to those who are already in the
35:39house I was sent to those who are
35:42lost or hopeless yes sir and
35:47Men you have no idea when your day will
35:50come where you'll be hit with
35:55circumstances this Gody
35:57I God permitted him to live
36:00it so he can write it write the vision
36:04make it plain make it plain he can write
36:07it so you can prepare
36:10yourself for when the opportunity comes

36:15tested to deal with your girlfriend deal
36:18with your wife deal with your children

43:45got if a man wants to really keep his

44:13make sure God got a good woman there for

45:57as he was very candid and very
46:00open about the process you have taken
46:03him
46:04through and he was bold enough to write
46:08about it and put it in the book so that
46:13the rest of us men can read it and find
46:17examples in it I pray
46:21that the life of Tommy and the spirit
46:24that you've placed in him would jump off
46:26the pages of that
46:28book and somehow touch areas of Our
46:31Lives that will make us into the man
46:34that you've called us to be we pray for
46:37these men today most
46:40importantly that they will walk into
46:42your
46:43righteousness that they live to please
46:46you that whatever shortfalls or
46:50shortcomings they may have had that
46:53they'll understand that God once they've
46:55repented
46:56and turn their lives over to you God you
46:58will change them you will transform them
47:01may you bless them and help them to
47:03start this incredible
47:05journey of surrendering to you thank you
47:08for the women out there who are praying
47:10for
47:11us may you bless them cuz God without
47:16them God we would not be where we are
47:18today scriptures even taught us that
47:21even on the Resurrection Day of Jesus
47:24Christ it was women yes who went to see
47:28about our
47:29Master women are always seen about the
47:32Master's
47:34business thank you for those wives who
47:36are covering their husbands in prayer
47:39and being of support for them thank you
47:41for those girlfriends who believe in
47:44their boyfriend knowing that he is the
47:46man that you've ordained for them thank
47:49you for those mothers and aunties and
47:52those sisters who are praying for that
47:55man that you will give them the strength
47:57that that man will have the strength God
48:00to become all that you've called him to
48:02be I pray a special blessing upon them
48:05and father for anybody who don't know
48:06you as Lord and Savior I pray today
48:09would be the day of salvation where
48:12they'll
48:13surrender totally surrender to you even
48:15those who are streaming I give you
48:17praise for it now if you've not yet
48:19receive the Lord as your personal Savior
48:22and you really want to make the
48:23confession today I want you to repeat
48:25the sinner's prayer after me the Bible
48:27says you confess with your mouth and you
48:29believe in your heart and you shall be
48:31born again after if you prayed that
48:34prayer please I ask you go to church
48:38find a church in your local area you're
48:40welcome to come to the Faith Center if
48:42you're in this area but find a church
48:46that teaches the Bible a church that
48:48will love a church that will be forgiven
48:50a church that opens this door for
48:52everybody to come
48:54in and then read your Bible pray every
48:58day and continue to walk in this Faith
