Summary

Bishop Henry Fernandez outlines seven practical habits for operating with Kingdom excellence, challenging believers to live as transformed ambassadors whose integrity and conduct in the marketplace serve as their greatest sermon.

Key points
  • Kingdom excellence is a spiritual calling that requires believers to perform every task from the heart as service to God, not for human recognition.
  • Integrity is the hallmark of a Kingdom citizen; your life is your sermon and your behavior is your pulpit, especially when handling pressure or authority.
  • The story of Daniel and the three Hebrew boys demonstrates that standing by godly principles, even in a hostile or pagan culture, leads to divine protection and ultimate promotion.
  • Humility is essential for handling both success and failure, as pride often leads to destruction and prevents believers from being trusted with greater influence.

This week, identify one area at your workplace or home where you have been cutting corners or showing frustration. Commit to performing those tasks with a spirit of excellence and a positive attitude, consciously doing them as a gift to the Lord.

Reflection questions
  1. If your coworkers or family members only knew about God through your behavior, what would they believe about Him?
  2. In what areas of your life are you tempted to compromise your integrity for the sake of fitting in or getting ahead?
  3. How do you typically respond to authority figures you disagree with, and how does that reflect your status as a Kingdom ambassador?
  4. Are there 'small' things you are currently mishandling that might be preventing God from trusting you with 'much'?

0:00Father, I pray for the word that you
0:04will speak through me to your people.
0:07We know that you're a covenant keeping
0:09God.
0:11And because you keep your covenant to a
0:13thousand generation,
0:16it is our design, our passion this
0:18morning to hear from you.
0:21So Lord, we ask that you will remind us
0:24of your covenant
0:26and give us the strength
0:29that even in a culture that's pushing us
0:32away from it,
0:34that we'll have the tenacity to want to
0:37stick to it.
0:40>> That we will become the true
0:43representation of what kingdom culture
0:46looks like.
0:48bless your people in this room and those
0:53watching around the world and we give
0:55you all the praise, the honor and glory.
0:59And all the people make a loud shout
1:02unto the Lord. Come on, let give him a
1:04praise.
1:07Amen. And you may be seated in the
1:11presence of God.
1:16It is not my intent to be before you
1:18long this morning. So, let's get right
1:21into the message.
1:25We've been dealing with this series and
1:28it is called Kingdom Culture.
1:32I've got my t-shirt that I'm wearing. I
1:36we ordered some more and I and I was
1:38told this morning they ran out again.
1:41>> And and and that's good.
1:45Um, I choose to do this for the whole
1:47month of October because I really want
1:49to drive home the point about who we
1:53are.
1:55>> We're different. Remember when I started
1:57the series last week, I talked about how
2:00we are a pecular people.
2:04Royal priesthood.
2:06We're set apart.
2:09And I hope all of us will understand
2:11this that we are living based on a
2:15different set of standards
2:18>> according to the word of God. So today
2:22in keeping with the series I want to
2:25talk about kingdom excellence.
2:28Kingdom excellence. Seven practices for
2:31workers and leaders.
2:34Because of who we are as Christians. We
2:37need to understand
2:39that God will place us at the workplace
2:42or a place of business. He'll allow you
2:45to become a manager or some leader in
2:48society.
2:50He's also expecting you to operate in
2:53excellence.
2:55Here's the foundation scripture.
2:56Colossians 3 23 and 24. Please pay close
3:02attention to this. The Apostle Paul
3:05says, "Whatever you do, do it from your
3:08heart for the Lord and not for people."
3:12>> That's right.
3:13>> See, this is the culture of those of us
3:16who call ourselves Christians,
3:20>> born again,
3:22transformed,
3:23that we're different from the darkness.
3:26We cannot operate like the darkness. So
3:29Paul says whatever you do, whatever
3:32means whatever. You don't get to pick
3:34and choose when you will operate and
3:38with what you will operate.
3:41He says when you do it, you got to do it
3:44from your heart. So you cannot as a
3:47kingdom citizen
3:50do things that is not based on the
3:53heart.
3:55You can't raise your children just
3:58because you feel,
4:00you know, I don't really want to be
4:01their mama. I don't really want to be
4:03their daddy, but because I have to.
4:07Can't. You can't be in the marriage and
4:11say "Well
4:13I don't want to be here.
4:16I want to help them out. I want to do
4:18nothing for them.
4:22I whatever I do, I ain't going to do
4:24from the heart.
4:26So if I'm going to cook, I'm just going
4:28to throw a little bit something.
4:29Whatever comes out comes out.
4:33Whatever ends up on the plate ends up on
4:35the plate.
4:38>> You know,
4:40whatever I make, I just bring home. She
4:42better be glad.
4:45>> Can't do that.
4:46>> You're a teacher. You go in the
4:48classroom. I don't care if they study or
4:51not,
4:53I'm getting paid.
4:56>> Kingdom citizens don't go to their jobs
5:00and say, "I really don't care about this
5:02company.
5:05I'm just here to get my check."
5:08He says, "Whatever you do, do it from
5:10your heart." Watch this.
5:13For the Lord and not for people.
5:21do it for the Lord and not for people.
5:24You know that you will receive an
5:26inheritance as a reward. In other words,
5:29when you do it unto God, you've got to
5:32believe that God will reward you, not
5:34people.
5:37>> When you just do things for people,
5:38people have no reward for you. Amen.
5:42>> So when you do it from your heart, you
5:44do it with a spirit of excellence cuz
5:46you serve the Lord Christ. This is what
5:49he's saying. You serve the Lord Christ.
5:52So the apostle uh Paul reminds us that
5:56every task we perform, every task
6:00whether it's in the office, the
6:02classroom or the marketplace should be
6:05done as service to the Lord and not
6:09merely to impress people. Yeah.
6:12>> If you call yourself a Christian, you
6:14got to understand that going to your job
6:17or running that business or being a
6:19manager, a supervisor,
6:21it's a higher spiritual calling.
6:25>> You have to see that
6:28it it's a spiritual calling that's on
6:30your life. Our true reward comes from
6:33God, not from earthly recognition.
6:38cuz I'm you're going to be disappointed
6:40if everything you're doing you want
6:42people to recognize you
6:45>> as followers of Jesus Christ. We must
6:49carry kingdom culture in every
6:52environment we step into.
6:56Every environment we step into, we have
6:58got to carry this kingdom culture
7:00because church is not just a Sunday
7:03experience. It's a lifestyle, watch
7:06this, of excellence, integrity, and
7:10godly influence wherever we go.
7:16>> It's it's it's a lifestyle of excellence
7:20and integrity.
7:21Notice I didn't say perfection.
7:25I did not say perfection.
7:28God's not looking to us to be perfect
7:3224/7 because that's not true.
7:36It's your daily commitment to living out
7:40scripture that gets you to perfection.
7:43>> Amen.
7:44>> But to say, "Well, I'm perfect today.
7:46I'm great. You know, everything I've
7:47done has always been well and God's with
7:50me and so forth." No. He's asking you,
7:53"Can you do it with excellence?" You're
7:56dating that young lady. You're dating
7:58that young man. Can you do it in
8:00excellence?
8:02>> You're married to that person. Can you
8:04just be excellent in your marriage?
8:09You're parenting those children. Can you
8:11just be excellent parents
8:14to your family? Can you be the one? Just
8:17I know your family, everybody's half
8:19crazy, but can you be the one? just just
8:22just the sane one.
8:26Can you just be that one person that
8:29does things with excellence at the
8:32workplace? Can you be that one person
8:34that can say, you know, I've done
8:37everything on the job with excellence? 1
8:40Corinthians chapter 10:31. So, whatever
8:43you eat or drink or whatever you do, he
8:46says, do it all for the glory of God. do
8:50it all for the glory of God. The true
8:52church is not defined by walls. It's not
8:55defined by the pews or the programs we
8:58have in church services. It is defined
9:01by the people by the people of God
9:06living out the word of God daily.
9:10You want you really want to impress this
9:12world?
9:14We're not going to impress this world by
9:15fancy preaching and and and
9:19well organized church services
9:24cuz we we are master at that.
9:28>> We're good at performing.
9:31>> Yes, sir.
9:33>> We're good at performing.
9:36>> But beyond the stage, when you get off
9:38the stage,
9:42>> when you leave church,
9:44and you're not in your Sunday best. Yes,
9:47sir. Yes, sir.
9:50>> How do you live out there?
9:53>> What is your co-workers saying about
9:54you? What is your conduct
9:58in the marketplace when you're in
10:01traffic?
10:02[Music]
10:07>> Talk to me here now.
10:09When somebody does something to offend
10:12you, how is your conduct?
10:15>> Are you operating in the spirit of
10:19excellence?
10:20God desire not mere attendance or
10:23appearance of holiness but a lifestyle
10:26that reflects transformation through
10:29scripture.
10:32It's not about looking because I grew up
10:34I grew up all my life thinking oh
10:37holiness was an a image
10:42you know you don't wear certain things
10:43you don't you know and you just you know
10:46you know come on now those of you come
10:48from the old Pentecostal church holiness
10:50looks like this
10:55>> praise the Lord hallelujah
10:58>> it was a it was a form of godliness
11:03Come to find out that ain't got nothing
11:04to do with holiness. Cuz I've discovered
11:06some of them same people.
11:10>> They will curse you out in a heartbeat.
11:14They gossip. They lie.
11:18>> And that's what the world is watching.
11:20Romans 12:2 says, "Do not be conformed."
11:23Watch this. Do not be conformed. Do not
11:26be conformed to the patterns of this
11:28world, but be what? transformed by the
11:31renewing of your mind because our light
11:34has to shine.
11:38>> The greatest way to evangelize to the
11:41world, it's not what we say, it's how we
11:45live our lives.
11:49>> That's why the word of God tells us that
11:51our light must shine. Matthew 5:16, let
11:55your light shine. Let your It didn't say
11:58let your light shine in the church.
12:02>> It says let your light shine before
12:04people so they can see the good things
12:09you do and praise your father who is in
12:13heaven. Cuz somebody's watching you.
12:16>> Your co-workers are watching you. Your
12:18family members are watching you. Your
12:20neighbors are watching you. People who
12:22gather here each week, they are watching
12:24you. Acts 1:8 says this was the birthing
12:27of the church. Now this was on the day
12:29of Pentecost when bam the Holy Spirit
12:32came with power and the the church was
12:35birthed. Paul says but you will receive
12:38power when the Holy Spirit comes upon
12:41you and you will be what my weakness is.
12:46My weakness is
12:48when you go out there in the
12:50marketplace, you become the witness for
12:53Jesus Christ. You become the witness for
12:56his church. And everything you do will
13:00either bring reproach on his church
13:05or it will glorify
13:08his church. Think about that.
13:12That is why 2 Corinthians 5:12 tells us
13:16we are through Christ or excuse me, we
13:19are therefore Christ's ambassadors. We
13:22are Christ's ambassadors. You're an
13:24ambassador. You know what an ambassador
13:26is? Is someone that is sent from a
13:28kingdom from a nation to a foreign
13:32nation.
13:34We are a part of the kingdom of God and
13:37we're operating in this foreign world
13:41and society.
13:43And God says, "I've created you. I've
13:45called you to be an ambassador. Your job
13:48is to go to the nation. Go he therefore
13:52and teach all nations baptizing them in
13:55the name of the Father, the Son, and the
13:57Holy Spirit." Because your your life is
14:01your sermon and your behavior is your
14:03pulpit.
14:09>> Your life is your sermon and your
14:12behavior is your pulpit. The way you
14:14respond, watch this, to pressure and the
14:18way you handle authority
14:20and the way you treat others preach
14:23louder than the words you speak.
14:28So, how do you handle yourself when
14:31you're under pressure on the job? When
14:33that report is due, when the employees
14:36are driving you crazy or your boss is
14:38driving you crazy, how do you conduct
14:41yourself? How do you handle authority?
14:45Even if you disagree with authority, how
14:47do you handle authority?
14:50How do you handle authority?
14:53Are you so puffed up to yourself? Are
14:56you so arrogant
14:58that you are going to to go out there in
15:01the marketplace as a kingdom citizen and
15:04be the most rebellious person on the
15:07job?
15:10How do you handle your parents? You're a
15:12teenager.
15:14You may not agree with your parents, but
15:17they are your parents.
15:19That's their house.
15:22>> Amen.
15:23>> You don't pay any bills.
15:26And I know this generation, you don't
15:28want to hear that now because it's this
15:31entitlement
15:34>> like your parents have to do for you.
15:38So your parents can't talk to you.
15:43>> I wish I could have done that to my mama
15:46and daddy.
15:49>> The way kids are talking back to parents
15:51today.
15:52>> Come on now. Don't act like you ain't
15:53from the old school.
15:57We don't want to submit to authority
15:59anymore.
16:01We think I can do whatever I want to do.
16:03I can talk to my parents. I want to talk
16:05to them and so forth. No, you're a
16:07kingdom citizen.
16:10You are called to the spirit of
16:12excellence and integrity.
16:15God has entrusted each of us with a
16:19spare of influence, whether great or
16:22small. And that space, ladies and
16:25gentlemen, is an opportunity to reflect
16:28the excellence of his kingdom.
16:31>> Yes, sir.
16:33>> Wherever he has placed you, it is your
16:36duty. It is your responsibility
16:39to let your light shine so that people
16:41can see. Oh man, I'm telling you, you
16:44see that man? He's a godly man.
16:47>> Yes, sir.
16:48>> She's a godly woman. Come on.
16:51>> She said, "You may be married to an
16:53unbeliever. You may be married to an
16:55unbeliever. Listen to me. Read the
16:58Bible. You're not going to win that
17:00unsaved spouse by arguing with them,
17:05cursing them out, and using your
17:08feelings to attack them.
17:12>> You can't win him like that. You can't
17:14win her like that."
17:15>> Wow.
17:16>> It is your conduct.
17:19It's your behavior.
17:21>> Come on now.
17:23>> Cuz it happens to all of us. You know,
17:26we get attacked or we feel people, you
17:29know, push our buttons, which we're not
17:31supposed to have no buttons, you know,
17:33as Christians. They push it. You can't
17:36be doing that. It happens. You're in
17:39traffic. All kinds of stuff. It happened
17:41to me. That's a long time ago. Long time
17:44ago.
17:46I say long time ago. I'm trying to get
17:49delivered every week, you know. Long
17:52time ago, man. I mean, this guy cut me
17:55off
17:57and with an attitude like, what you
17:59going to do about it?
18:01And seriously, instantly,
18:04you know, something got up in me and I
18:08find me speeding up to go. Seriously,
18:14I I'm I'm going to fix this today.
18:18And instantly, it's like the Holy Spirit
18:21says, "You know better than that."
18:25Got off the gas.
18:29Cuz you got to let it go.
18:32>> Got to let it go.
18:35Some of you, watch this. You're
18:37struggling
18:39to let go. Come on.
18:42Come on.
18:44>> And because you always have to interject
18:47your feelings,
18:49>> that's what's killing you.
18:55>> Sometimes you got to swallow your pride.
18:57Let them think they won.
19:00[Music]
19:02>> Oh my good. Who am I preaching to? Let
19:06them think they won.
19:08[Applause]
19:12You see, Daniel, the life of Daniel is a
19:16powerful example of this. Though he
19:18lived in a pagan society,
19:21>> he stood out not because of his title,
19:26>> but because of his excellent integrity.
19:31>> If you weren't at Bible study Wednesday,
19:33my goodness, you missed it. When I tell
19:35you, you missed it.
19:38We were able to study chapter one of
19:40Daniel and chapter 3. And from chapter
19:431, watch this. Daniel, Shedrach, Meek,
19:46and Abednego, which by the way, that was
19:48not their original name.
19:51>> They were brought from Judah
19:54into Babylon,
19:58>> a pagan environment. Yes,
20:01>> the system changed their name, but they
20:05kept their godly principle.
20:11>> The king said, "I tell you what, I'm
20:13going to order that everybody will eat
20:17my kind of food." Here's the problem
20:20with the wine and the food that the king
20:23offered them. Those meals were offered
20:26up to idols.
20:30and Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and
20:32Abednego. They're coming from an
20:33environment where thou shalt not have
20:36any other gods.
20:41>> And these boys were placed in an
20:43environment, but I was so glad
20:46that they decided, Daniel said, I tell
20:49you what, we're not going to eat that
20:50food. They went to the king and reported
20:53them and said, you know, we noticed, we
20:55notice that these boys didn't eat, you
20:58know, and so forth. And he said, "I tell
21:00you what we're going to do. Can we just
21:02cut a deal here?" Because you see, the
21:04enemy and the system of the world will
21:06always try to cut a deal with you guys.
21:11>> And Daniel said, "No, let me cut a deal
21:12with you.
21:14>> Here's the deal. We ain't going to eat
21:16the food." I love it.
21:17>> That's it.
21:18>> Their lives were threatened, but we
21:21ain't going to eat the food. But I tell
21:22you what, you all eat all that food that
21:25is offered up to idols,
21:27>> you eat it. We going to eat the food we
21:29used to. We just going to stick to
21:31vegetables. And I tell you what, can we
21:32do this for 10 days? And then after 10
21:35days, I want the king to watch those of
21:38us who just at vegetables. And then I
21:41want the king to look at those of you
21:43who eat everything. You know, some
21:44people just eat everything.
21:4810 days went by, the king came and
21:50looked at them and was like, "Wow,
21:54>> you look better than the people."
21:56>> Okay. Who at everything?
21:59>> Come on now.
22:00>> Because there's a way that seems right.
22:02Oh, clubbing is
22:05>> what?
22:07Clubbing is nice.
22:11>> Drinking, smoking, and
22:14>> cussing and living all that kind. Yes,
22:17it feels good.
22:19But if you keep your ground
22:23>> and don't do all that stuff, eventually
22:25one, haven't you see years later how
22:27some people look?
22:31>> Come on now.
22:33>> Look at your neighbor and say, "I'm
22:34sticking with God.
22:38Whatever you all do, I'm sticking with
22:39God. Cuz at the end of the day, I'm
22:42still going to come out looking much
22:44better if I stay with God." Somebody
22:46ought to give God a praise right about
22:49now.
22:52[Applause]
22:53>> So Daniel said, "I'm speaking with God."
22:56The king in chapter three now decided,
22:59"Okay, here's what we're going to do.
23:01It's worship time. It's worship time. We
23:05going to put a certain music
23:07>> and everybody got to bow down. Everybody
23:09got to worship."
23:11And the three Hebrew boys were there.
23:15And as I demonstrated it, go read Daniel
23:18chapter 3, man. Because it's a fast
23:20forward to chapter six, but I have to
23:22give you the background because some of
23:24you, I know you ain't going to read it.
23:25You don't read the Bible, period.
23:31You don't even read your Bible. Period.
23:34Right? So chapter three, the Bible says
23:37the king ordered everybody, you got to
23:40worship,
23:42>> me and the music that I put before you
23:45all.
23:46>> The Bible says when they started playing
23:49the instruments, everybody was supposed
23:51to bow down and worship
23:54and they started worshiping.
23:56But Shedra, Mishka, Abend go was over
23:59there and they wouldn't worship because
24:01that they're forbidden to do that. It's
24:04not easy to stand up in a culture
24:09>> that will dog you out
24:12>> if you refuse to compromise.
24:16>> Now watch this. There were a group of
24:19people who are worshiping. Now worship
24:23means you're supposed to focus on God.
24:26And according to the scripture, they
24:28were worshiping.
24:31But for some reason,
24:34how did they have time
24:37to identify that Shedrach, Mach, and
24:40Abednego over there is not worshiping?
24:43There's always snitchers around. I'm
24:46telling you, y'all don't believe me.
24:48Y'all don't believe me. Always somebody
24:51who's going to report you.
24:54>> I mean, they all supposed to worship.
24:56>> How did they figure out
24:59>> that they weren't?
25:01And the king came and arguing with them.
25:04I thought you were supposed to do all of
25:06this and why didn't you not worship and
25:08and they said, "Look, sorry. We're not
25:10going to bow.
25:12>> We're not going to bow." King got angry
25:14cuz he's got in his ego cuz listen to
25:16me. Yes, some leaders are arrogant.
25:21>> King Nebuchadnezzar who is the king
25:25wealthy
25:26in high esteem position.
25:30Why would you get so angry because
25:32somebody said they're not going to bow
25:33your ego, especially those of you are in
25:36leadership? Please be careful that you
25:39don't allow your ego to destroy you.
25:42[Applause]
25:44>> This king
25:47felt threatened over three boys
25:51>> lower than him in rank.
25:54And because they did not bow, he said,
25:57"Turn up the flame." Seven times.
26:00>> Seven times.
26:01>> Seven time. He was willing to throw them
26:03into the fiery furnace
26:05>> and he ordered them. And notice, watch
26:08this.
26:10You need to go back and watch Wednesday,
26:11man. It's so good. It's so good.
26:14Wednesday, man. The Bible says you got a
26:17couple of soldiers now taking the boys
26:20Shedrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the
26:22furnace. Watch this. Go read your Bible,
26:24man.
26:26They tied up these three boys and were
26:29carrying the soldiers carrying them into
26:33the fiery furnace. And the Bible says
26:36the soldiers who were carrying them, the
26:40heat was so hot that they the soldiers,
26:43not the boys, they the soldiers start
26:46frying, burning, they died. and Daniel,
26:51excuse me, Shadrach, Meshach, and
26:53Abednego in the fire was not hurt. That
26:57lets me know the people who are setting
27:00traps for you. The people who are trying
27:04to lead you down the path, you give them
27:07time. The same fire that they're trying
27:11to put you in, that's the fire that
27:14God's going to use to destroy them.
27:19Are you hearing me in this house today?
27:23[Applause]
27:26>> And the king looked, he said, "Wait a
27:28minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute.
27:29Wait a minute. I I thought you all
27:32through three boys in there." But watch
27:36what the king said. He said, "I looked,
27:38but the fourth one looks like the son of
27:42God." Oh, somebody ought to give God
27:45praise. When you stick with God, even
27:49your enemies will know that God is with
27:52you.
27:55>> Are you hearing me?
27:57>> So, you need to understand this, ladies
27:59and gentlemen, that kingdom culture
28:01calls for seven practices. And I'll
28:04leave you with this. Here are the seven
28:06practical ways to demonstrate kingdom
28:09excellence as workers and leaders.
28:12Because like Daniel chapter 3, Bible
28:16says Daniel was so distinguished or he
28:20so distinguished himself among the
28:23administrators and the set traps by his
28:28exceptional
28:30qualities.
28:32My goodness that the king planned to set
28:37him above the whole kingdom.
28:40He got promoted. The man who stood up
28:44and said, "We're not going to do it."
28:46King Nebuchadnezzar turned out now and
28:48made a decree by their tenacity and
28:52their boldness, everybody's going to
28:55start worshiping these boys gods.
28:59>> And then he promoted, watch this, he
29:02promoted Daniel.
29:05But for every promotion, you're going to
29:08get some resistance.
29:11For every promotion, there are people
29:13going to try to set traps for you.
29:17>> Daniel, according to this scripture,
29:19verse four, at this time the
29:21administrators try to find grounds for
29:24charges against Daniel. They're looking
29:28to find fault with him. They're looking
29:32to see, is he a man of excellence and
29:35integrity?
29:37But they could not find any corruption
29:40in him. A good friend of mine, the late
29:44Bishop Harold Ray, told me this. I never
29:46forget it. Please write this down. I
29:48need you to write it down, please. It is
29:50going to save your life. Listen to me.
29:52If if if there's anything in the sermon
29:54you need to write down today, this is
29:56it. It has helped me over the years. And
29:59this is what Bishop Ray told me. He
30:01says, "Don't let the lie be spoken of
30:05you. be true.
30:11>> Let me say it again. Don't let the lie
30:14be spoken of you be true. In other
30:17words, don't say they lying
30:21>> when is true.
30:26>> See, Daniel was able to stand up and
30:30defend himself. Why? because he knew he
30:34stood in integrity and there was no
30:36corruption in his life. So number one
30:39the very first practice of a kingdom
30:42citizen operating in the the the kingdom
30:46excellence number one be pountual and
30:50present
30:52>> as a leader and a co-orker or a worker
30:55show up on the job on time and be fully
30:58engaged.
31:01>> You're set apart. You're different.
31:02You're not like the world. You can't
31:04become like them. So, be on the job. If
31:08they say to be there 9:00, you cannot be
31:11there 9:15. And then when they speak to
31:14you, well, the devil is trying to work
31:16against me today. And I bind this spirit
31:18of intimidation here. No, you are late.
31:30You know you're wrong.
31:32>> Come on now. Don't we do that? Well, the
31:34the the devil is working against me and
31:36he's trying to fight against me and so
31:38forth. And when they look at your time
31:40card for five days a week, you are late
31:43four days out of the week. How is that
31:46the devil?
31:52>> Be on time. time
31:54>> and when you don't get the promotion
31:56because the company said, "We've been
31:59watching you over the last year."
32:02>> Well, you don't go to work on time. So,
32:04okay. So, now you're mad they didn't
32:06give you the supervisor's position
32:07because supervisor means that you have
32:10to be there to manage your staff.
32:14>> Be on time
32:16>> and be present. Don't put in time that
32:19you know you did not work for.
32:28Don't cook the books.
32:32>> You're a kingdom citizen.
32:35>> You're held to a different standard.
32:37Like Daniel, they tried to find
32:39everything against him. But the
32:42scripture says there was none.
32:45Don't let the lie be spoken of you. Be
32:48true. Proverbs 22:29 says, "Do you see
32:52someone skilled in their work? They will
32:56serve before kings. They will not serve
33:00before officers lower in lower
33:03rankings."
33:05So in other words, when you do the right
33:07thing, God will see to it that you get
33:09promoted. Number two, honor authority
33:11even when it's imperfect.
33:17Somehow we're in a society today where
33:19we're no longer honoring leadership.
33:23We say what we want to say. We do what
33:25we want to do. But our job is to respect
33:28leadership even when you disagree with
33:30leadership.
33:33>> Just like the Bible says, honor your
33:35mother and your father so your days may
33:39be long.
33:41>> I didn't just I didn't agree with a lot
33:43of stuff my parents did.
33:45Trust me.
33:49Especially my mom. I told her this
33:51before she died. I said, "You are a
33:52terrorist."
33:55With no disrespect, don't don't think I
33:57disrespected her. We were just talking
33:59one day. Say, "You're a terrorist, man.
34:01Why you say that?" I said, "Man, you all
34:04know how you treated us." Cuz you know
34:06what? She didn't know any better. That's
34:07how they grew up. They beat us for
34:09everything. You just sneeze. Bible s
34:16man. She whip us for everything.
34:19She was a non nonsense woman. Oh, but
34:22you better respect her.
34:25You better respect her. Well, in the
34:27society now where there's no honor. You
34:30cannot go to that workplace and cuss
34:32your boss out.
34:35Well, Henry, you don't understand. He
34:37did me wrong. She didn't No.
34:40operate in kingdom excellence.
34:44You don't need to if your boss did you
34:47wrong. Trust me, this is this is what I
34:49live by.
34:51Anybody who lies on you are done wrong.
34:54I promise you.
34:56>> You hold your peace, God will fix them.
35:02I promise you.
35:05Don't you take matters into your hands
35:08>> and disrespect people. Don't disrespect
35:11your spouse.
35:14Operate in excellence. You may disagree
35:16with your spouse, but that doesn't give
35:19you a license as a kingdom citizen
35:23to disrespect your spouse.
35:26Doesn't give you a license to disrespect
35:28the people that God placed over you.
35:31Honor is the kingdom value, not a
35:34personality preference. Romans 13:1
35:37says, "Let every person, watch this, let
35:40every person be subject to the governing
35:43authorities."
35:46That's your job.
35:48I'm not saying somebody's abusing their
35:50power or anything like that, but as
35:53kingdom citizens, we ought to be known
35:56to operate in excellence. that when we
35:58go out there,
36:00right, I may disagree with you, but you
36:03know what? I'm going to respect you. I'm
36:05going to honor you. Number three, manage
36:07resources with integrity. For those of
36:10you are working for someone, a company,
36:13you got to treat the company's time,
36:15money, and property as sacred trust.
36:21>> You You have to operate in excellence.
36:23If you're a cashier, if you are the the
36:26CEO or excuse me, the CFO and you're
36:28handling money, is integrity involved in
36:32that?
36:35>> Because if you're stealing $50,
36:38you will steal 50 million.
36:40>> That is very true.
36:44And what reput reputation would you have
36:47as a kingdom citizen if an if an ungodly
36:50boss or supervisor
36:53is monitoring things and notice that
36:55you're doing some inappropriate things?
36:58How does that help your testimony
37:02knowing that you go to church, you serve
37:04God, and you'd be the first to say, you
37:06know, you love God or whatever it is,
37:08but the evidence shows you're stealing.
37:13What are you taking from your job that
37:15you know you did not get permission to
37:17take?
37:22>> Well, Henry, you just don't understand.
37:24Ain't nothing wrong with me taking the
37:26stapler. Ain't nothing wrong for me
37:27taking
37:34>> it's stealing.
37:38And it's very dangerous when you can try
37:41to argue with me about, oh, it's just a
37:45little stapler. Oh, it's just a little
37:48this. It's a little for you to be
37:49arguing with me. I question
37:54>> your integrity.
37:58>> Cuz what if you were the owner?
38:00>> That's right.
38:02>> And you have those losses.
38:06>> Think about it. If you're taking care of
38:08seniors, you're their caregiver. Are you
38:11stealing from their accounts?
38:18>> Say, I know you didn't come to church to
38:19hear all of this. You know, you know, we
38:21just want to come tell the Lord, thank
38:24you.
38:26Thank you. And you go crazy and why
38:29you'll steal it.
38:42I could just see the devil just standing
38:44at the gates of heaven and why you ready
38:47thinking you're going to get in? He
38:49like, "Tell the Lord, thank you. I
38:52remember the day when you rejoicing, but
38:54you were stealing. You ain't getting up
38:55in there today."
39:01Come on, man. We got to do better.
39:05>> We got to do better.
39:09>> Can God trust you
39:12>> when nobody's looking?
39:17>> When nobody's looking.
39:20>> When you got more money back from you're
39:22supposed, you know, go to the bank, they
39:24gave you $100 more.
39:29Do you have the moral integrity
39:33to say I got $100 back? Or you will say
39:38the Lord works in
39:42serious ways.
39:54Luke 16:10 says, "Whoever can be trusted
39:59with little
40:02can also be trusted with much." So when
40:05you're unfaithful with little, you're
40:08preventing the door of opportunity to be
40:11trusted with much.
40:15As simple as it is, the Holy Spirit is
40:18talking to you and he's telling you,
40:19"Hey, you know that's not right.
40:22Don't steal that.
40:25Don't take that.
40:28Don't don't don't don't lie on your tax
40:30return.
40:34Don't do that.
40:36Because again, we don't want to hear
40:37this in church.
40:40We don't want to live as people with
40:42excellence
40:44because church has become this hype
40:47thing.
40:49When God is saying the only way you can
40:51be an effective ambassador out there is
40:54like Daniel, they can't find no fault
40:56with you.
40:59>> Number four, build unity and avoid
41:02toxicity
41:05>> on the job as a leader, as a worker.
41:08Encourage collaboration, not
41:11competition.
41:14Yes.
41:15>> Work with your departments.
41:18Work with your families.
41:20Couples. Don't compete against each
41:23other.
41:25>> Why would you be insecured over your
41:27over what your husband does?
41:29>> Why would you be insecure over your
41:31wife?
41:33>> Aren't you one?
41:37>> What if they make more money than you?
41:40Does it matter?
41:42Aren't you guys one?
41:46>> Think about that.
41:48But to compete
41:52to compete on the job, I want to outdo
41:55this person and so forth. No, that's not
41:58according to the word of God. Then don't
42:00let gossip,
42:02jealousy, and division become a part of
42:04your norm. Ephesians 4:3 says, "Make
42:08every effort to keep the unity of the
42:10spirit through the bond of peace." Watch
42:12those Christians who promote division.
42:19>> Watch people in your family who get
42:22pleasure out of divide in the family.
42:25>> That cannot be of God.
42:28>> Watch people at the workplace where it's
42:31constantly divide and conquer.
42:34It's not God. That's not the spirit of
42:36excellence. Number five, pursue
42:38excellence, watch this, not perfection.
42:41Excellence means doing your best with
42:44what you have. God rewards diligence,
42:48not flashiness.
42:51>> I wish many of us would look so pretty
42:55and good on the inside as we look on the
42:58outside.
43:06Ecclesiastes 9:10 says, "Whatever your
43:08hands finds to do, do it with all your
43:12might." Number six, stay humble in
43:16success and failure.
43:18>> Oh, and this is a big one.
43:21>> Big big big one.
43:23I told the 9:00 service and I'll say it
43:27to you
43:29and and some of you may not embrace it.
43:32You may not like Bishop after this.
43:38But please hear me when I tell you this.
43:40I don't mean any harm. I don't.
43:44It's really to preserve
43:47your faith.
43:50Some of you
43:54though you are asking for it,
43:58it's best you don't receive it.
44:03>> Say it again. Say it again.
44:06>> Though you're asking for the promotion,
44:09>> though you're asking God for the
44:11blessing,
44:13>> it's best you don't get it. You know
44:14why?
44:16>> Pride.
44:21You don't know how to stay humble.
44:24>> You don't know how to stay humble.
44:30Especially
44:32in times of success.
44:37Some of you, if they gave you the
44:38promotion, you would not only destroy
44:41people, but you destroy yourself. Why?
44:43>> You're full of yourself.
44:47>> Jesus. and you can't handle power.
44:54>> That's it. Some of you right now, God,
44:57I've been praying. I'm asking you, I
45:00need me my spouse. Don't let 2025
45:05in and I don't find me my wife. Find me
45:08my husband.
45:13Here's
45:17the problem with that.
45:19>> It's best you stay single.
45:25>> That's it.
45:27>> You know why?
45:28>> You're a danger to somebody
45:31>> else.
45:31>> Yeah. Yeah.
45:32>> Cuz you haven't gotten all together.
45:34>> Tell it, Bishop.
45:36>> And though you want the success, watch
45:38this, of what marriage looks like,
45:41>> Jesus. You're not prepared for it
45:47>> because you're not humble enough
45:51for a woman to look you in the eye and
45:54say, "You need to get your act
45:55together."
45:56>> Wow.
45:58>> Cuz you're full of ego.
46:00>> Ain't no woman going to talk to me like
46:02that.
46:06I'm a man.
46:08Ain't no woman going to tell me what to
46:10do. cuz you're full of yourself. You
46:13don't even understand.
46:15>> A good woman
46:17>> will always speak into you even when you
46:19don't want to hear it.
46:24>> You take a woman's advice as a threat
46:27when she's trying to save you.
46:30>> Jesus.
46:32Jesus. Wow.
46:36[Applause]
46:38>> And no wonder some of us men can't go
46:40any further
46:42>> full of ego.
46:44>> We're not humble
46:46to say it's okay. She's right.
46:51>> This time
46:55I had to throw that. She ain't right all
46:56the time.
46:59I had to throw that in there.
47:00>> Right. But stay humble
47:03>> in success. When you get that house, how
47:06humble you are.
47:08>> Did it get to your head now? You can't
47:09talk to certain people.
47:13>> You get that degree and you get that
47:14promotion on the job and all of a sudden
47:16now you act like you're better than
47:18everybody else,
47:20>> right? You get a bit little bit of
47:23money. And some of you have no business
47:25acting boastful
47:28>> cuz just because you got $999 in the
47:31bank, that ain't no reason for you to
47:35act like you have arrived.
47:41>> Stay humble
47:44when you're successful.
47:47>> What if God would give you a company
47:48that's worth $10 million today? Watch
47:52this. Before you celebrate, what if God
47:55would just hand you a $10 million cash
47:59flow company right now?
48:02>> Watch this. First thing,
48:05how do you see yourself?
48:08Do you see yourself better than people?
48:11That you are now King Nebuchadnezzar
48:14and everybody now must kiss you.
48:17>> Right?
48:20>> Think about that. How much of that $10
48:22million would you give back to charity?
48:25>> Jesus.
48:30>> See, how much of that are you willing to
48:32give back?
48:34>> Are you humble enough to go back to some
48:36of your struggling family members?
48:40people who change your
48:44>> pampers
48:46>> that now that you have it, are you
48:48willing to make life a little bit easier
48:50for them?
48:52>> See, I'm talking about attitude
48:54>> and humility. What about those times of
48:57failure? Amen.
48:58>> Are you humble enough that when you
49:00fail, when you lose the house, lose the
49:01car, lose the job, are you humbly enough
49:04to admit where you're wrong,
49:06>> the mistakes you've made, and don't be
49:09arrogant about it. Blame everybody else
49:11for where you are in life.
49:14Say, Lord, you know, this is just
49:16another season,
49:18>> and you're going to walk me through.
49:21One of the thing that is killing the
49:23body of Christ is our arrogance.
49:29Let me prove what the scripture says to
49:31you. Look at what Proverbs 16:18 says,
49:35and I promise you, I'm going to close up
49:36just one more point. It says, "Pride
49:39goes before destruction.
49:44A hearty spirit before a fall."
49:50>> Pride.
49:53>> Be careful.
49:56Careful man.
49:58You know you didn't come from no
50:02gold spoon family.
50:04You fought your way to the top.
50:09You know God has placed you and made you
50:11seated in heavenly places. Now
50:15look at the car you drive.
50:18Look where you live. Now
50:21>> you were able to go and acquire that
50:23degree and spent a lot of money for it.
50:25Now you got a job. Look, stay humble.
50:32>> Stay humble cuz one event in life
50:37>> can take it all from you.
50:40>> Just one.
50:43Finally, number seven, witness with
50:47wisdom and grace.
50:50Share your faith through your lifestyle,
50:53not what just you preach. Don't force
50:56your beliefs on people.
50:58Let your actions open the door for
51:01conversations.
51:03First Peter 3:15 says, "Always be
51:05prepared to give an answer,
51:08but do this with gentleness and respect.
51:14always
51:17in the lunchroom.
51:19You're going to walk in and they're
51:21going to dog out church. They're going
51:22to dog out oh, they're going to see on
51:25social media all kinds of stuff about
51:27churches and so forth. They're going to
51:29dog it out. Don't fall into the trap
51:34where you're going to go and you're
51:36going to insert unscriptural things in
51:39it.
51:41your salt and light.
51:43And what Peter is saying, be prepared to
51:46give an answer,
51:47but be gentle with it.
51:50Somebody tell you what, I don't believe
51:52in God. I hate all these Christians.
51:54They Okay, you don't have to turn back
51:57and say to them, well, if you hate
51:58Christian, you going to hell. You know
51:59that, right? You don't have to do that.
52:03I'm so sorry that you believe that.
52:06I believe in God and I just believe you
52:09have not come into the light yet cuz I
52:12was once like you.
52:14I didn't surrender the same day. It took
52:17me a while and I'm just praying for you
52:20man that God will touch you. Then
52:23Colossians 4:5 and 6 says, watch this
52:26and I love this. It says, "Be wise in
52:31the way you act towards outsiders.
52:35Let your conversation,
52:38let your conversation
52:40be always be full of grace. So, here's
52:43what I want to ask the kingdom citizen.
52:45I'm going to pray with you.
52:47What kind of conversations have you been
52:49in lately? Those of you are streaming.
52:53That's right.
52:55>> What's your conversations like at home
53:00on the job,
53:03place of business? When you meet people
53:05in the marketplace, what are you
53:06talking?
53:09Are are you magnifying garbage and lies?
53:14Are you lifting up the name of Jesus?
53:16That's what I want to know. Bow your
53:17heads with me.
53:19I want to pray for you and then let you
53:21go. Just hang in there with us.
53:24Here's what I'm going to ask you to do,
53:25my friend.
53:27If you know
53:29you need to be a better
53:32believer in the marketplace, as a
53:35worker,
53:37as a supervisor, manager, and you felt
53:40that God sent this message
53:43for you today,
53:45I'm just going to ask you to stand
53:46wherever you are. you don't need to come
53:49just to stand.
53:51You know, maybe the Holy Spirit spoke to
53:52you right?
53:55When he spoke to you, he's not to
53:57chastise you, to embarrass you. He's
54:00just he sees something in you and he
54:03wants you to be different cuz he's
54:06counting on you, man. He wants all of us
54:09to live the life
54:11so that it'll become the greatest
54:12testimony to the world that, hey, there
54:15really is a God. I I've watched our
54:18conduct.
54:20>> I watched his behavior.
54:23Those of you are streaming, maybe put in
54:25the chat, if you know this message was
54:27for you. I want to pray with you before
54:29they come out and close the service. As
54:32you're standing, would you stretch your
54:33hands?
54:36Now, I'm going to pray for you, but I
54:38ask you
54:40this week, spend some time praying to
54:42God in your own way and ask him to help
54:45you. Listen to me. I'm I'm telling you,
54:47it is not easy trying to do it God's
54:51way, but it's the best way.
54:55So, every day, you've got to ask him to
54:57give you the strength so that you can
55:00operate in kingdom excellence that
55:03whatever you do, you do it from your
55:06heart. Maybe God is sending you home
55:09right now and he's saying, "Treat that
55:12woman better.
55:15Treat that man better. Maybe he's saying
55:18to you, treat your parents better.
55:21Treat your children better. When you go
55:23to that job tomorrow,
55:26be a different person at that workplace.
55:30Be a different person.
55:33And if you follow his in his
55:34instructions, I promise you, you'll be a
55:38better person. Father, as they lift
55:40their hands, thank you
55:42for their commitment in surrendering
55:45everything to you
55:49that they want to operate in kingdom
55:51excellence.
55:53Thank you for this series. Thank you
55:55that you are purging us. You're washing
55:57us. You are you are changing us cuz
56:01that's what you want.
56:04You want us to be transformed from the
56:07inside out.
56:10So I pray as ambassadors when we leave
56:12this place today, Holy Spirit,
56:17take us to the marketplace
56:20[Music]
56:21as living sanctuary
56:24for you. May you bless the marriages,
56:29bless the families,
56:32bless the place of business. Bless them
56:34as they go to their workplace today.
56:36Bless this church that Father, we'll
56:39become known for a group of people who
56:43strive to live according to kingdom
56:47culture where we'll become the salt and
56:50light of the world. We give you praise,
56:52honor, and we give you glory for it in
56:56Jesus' name. Amen. Come on, let's
56:58celebrate and give the Lord a hand of
57:00praise.
57:02Hallelujah.
