Summary

Pastor Jerry Flowers Jr. challenges believers to move out of spiritual laziness and 'bed sores' caused by disappointment, urging them to trust God's timing and development even when a situation appears dead.

Key points
  • Maturity is the ability to outgrow what used to fit - it is not defined by age but by spiritual wisdom and character development.
  • The enemy often uses the 'Why bother?' narrative to convince believers that prayer and faithfulness are a waste of time during seasons of delay.
  • God often delays an answer as a healer because He intends to show up as a resurrector, introducing a deeper dimension of His nature.
  • Spiritual growth requires learning how to steward disappointment and long-suffering without leaving God or seeking worldly counterfeits.
  • Public testimonies are often unnecessary when the miracle is evident; sometimes God wants us to stop talking and simply 'walk' in the new life He provided.

Reflection questions
  1. Which phase of the process are you currently in: Request, Delay, Develop, Eviction, or Fulfillment?
  2. Are you struggling with 'spiritual entitlement' or jealousy because someone else received their miracle before you?
  3. What are some 'umbilical cords' to your past or to 'Egypt' that God might be trying to cut so you can fully enter your promise?
  4. How has your diet of 'social feeds' and viral content affected your ability to discern sound biblical doctrine?

0:02Let's make some noise for Jesus family.
0:07We could do better than that. Can we
0:08give God some [music] praise in the
0:10house?
0:12A victorious God.
0:16Matter of fact, hold up.
0:18Let's try it this way.
0:21If you ever find yourself in New River,
0:23North Carolina,
0:25there is a Marine Corps air station
0:29where the Marines are training, aviation
0:31training, and they have these huge
0:33aircrafts,
0:34and they're really, really loud. But
0:37outside the military base, it says,
0:39"Pardon the noise, for it's the sound of
0:42freedom."
0:44>> [cheering]
0:46>> So, before you complain about how loud
0:48it is, we're preparing for warfare,
0:52and pardon the noise, it's the sound of
0:55freedom. Do we have any free sons in the
0:58house and free daughters in the house,
1:01free worshipers in the house, and
1:04who the son has set free is free indeed.
1:10Let everything that have breath give God
1:14praise
1:17for freedom.
1:20For freedom.
1:21>> [music]
1:23>> Freedom.
1:24Would you high-five two people around
1:26you and tell them, "I'm glad to see you
1:28in the house."
1:33Glad to see you
1:36in the house
1:38of the Lord
1:40once again. You may take your seats.
1:45I'm so honored to be back
1:47here [snorts] in South Florida.
1:51Yes.
1:54I believe the last time I was here was
1:562023.
1:58And
1:59uh I had two children at that time. Now
2:01we have three.
2:04Pray for us.
2:06Um but I think it would just be
2:09ministerial malpractice to stand before
2:12you all and not give honor to where
2:16honor is due. Can I just
2:18just get us to thank God for the
2:21leadership of this house.
2:24Bishop Hernandez and his beautiful wife.
2:27You could do better than that. 35 years
2:30of faithfulness.
2:33I honor you.
2:36I honor you and uh
2:38you've been in my prayers. My wife and I
2:40love you. Next time Mrs. Flowers got she
2:42has to be here.
2:44There's just a different level of oil
2:45when Mrs. Flowers is in the house.
2:49Um I I really want to get to work.
2:52This is the only disclaimer
2:55that you get.
2:57This
2:58is a resurrection word.
3:01It is a call out of spiritual laziness.
3:07A call out of casual Christianity.
3:10This is going to be a spicy word. I hope
3:13you like spiritual jalapenos.
3:16This is going to be spicy. I did not
3:18come all the way from Houston, Texas to
3:21talk to your cute.
3:23Enough with us being Christians who are
3:26saved but petty.
3:28You could slay a whole workout in the
3:30gym, bro, but can't slay a demon. You
3:33could slay a whole dress. You can't slay
3:35a bad attitude. Enough with that.
3:39Enough with that. I'm not sorry. My
3:40generation requires real.
3:43I am summoned to awaken a people up out
3:46of a spiritual coma.
3:49Hear me on today. This is not the time
3:52for you down in the dust of your
3:55disappointment.
3:56This is not the time for you to feel
3:58sorry for yourself. This is not the time
4:01for you to operate with casual
4:03Christianity because what's happening
4:05especially in Western Hemisphere in
4:07America is we have gotten so spiritually
4:10lazy that just because something goes
4:13viral, we think it's biblical.
4:22So you the way the Holy Spirit gave it
4:23to me, some of us have gotten so
4:25spiritually lazy that we're formulating
4:27spiritual bed sores,
4:30pressure ulcers because you haven't
4:32moved. You're not growing and it takes
4:35for a caregiver to come in the room and
4:37push you and I've been praying, "Lord,
4:40would you anoint me as a spiritual
4:42caregiver to push my brothers and
4:44sisters out of laziness, to push them
4:47out of being bitter, to push them out of
4:49entitlement, [singing] to push them out
4:51of being offended." Somebody say,
4:53"Move."
4:55No, that's not good enough. You got to
4:57say it like you've been at a red light
4:58for 3 minutes,
5:00it just turned green and the car in
5:02front of you is just sitting there.
5:03Somebody shout, "Move."
5:06That's what we want God to do in our
5:07nation. That's what we want God to do in
5:10this moment. That's what we want God to
5:12do in our marriages. That's what we want
5:14God to do in the earth. Get us to be a
5:17moved people.
5:21This is not your deathbed.
5:31This is not where you die.
5:36Hear me.
5:38Revelation
5:40was never designed to be given to you on
5:42your deathbed.
5:46It was designed to be given to you when
5:49you still can apply it.
5:55So, I want us to pray.
5:57Then we're going to get to work on
5:59today.
6:01Father God, thank you for this moment.
6:04Thank you for this hour.
6:07We're so thankful, oh Lord, that you
6:09woke us up to see a new day, a day that
6:11we never saw before, and a day that we
6:13will never see again. Simply for the
6:15gift of life, we say thank you.
6:19Father God, we're praying that this
6:21won't be a flash fire word.
6:25Light us on fire for just a few moments
6:27while we're in church and we go right
6:29back to the same bondage. But God, we're
6:32asking that in this moment, we will be
6:36able to say it was on this Sunday that
6:38everything changed.
6:41We're praying, oh God, that you fall
6:43fresh
6:44on our service. And just like I prayed
6:46in private, I also declare it in public.
6:49All of the study means absolutely
6:51nothing if you aren't magnified, if you
6:53aren't glorified. I'm asking that you
6:55anoint me in this hour as your oracle,
6:57the PA system, the soundtrack of heaven.
7:00Don't let them see Jerry, let them see
7:02Jesus.
7:05Pray that you do it in Jesus' precious
7:07name. And everybody who agrees their
7:08prayer, would you shout all over the
7:10room "Amen."
7:12Amen.
7:14If you would, would you turn your Bibles
7:15to the Gospel of Mark,
7:18chapter 5.
7:20We're going to launch our reading
7:22at verse 35.
7:24Mark chapter 5,
7:26starting our reading at verse 35. Now,
7:30usually when somebody begins to preach
7:33from Mark chapter 5, especially verses
7:3535 and downward, we speak about the
7:38woman with the issue of blood.
7:40That's not what I want to talk to you
7:42about.
7:43There is another particular biblical
7:45character in this text that often gets
7:49overlooked and his name is Jairus.
7:52He's a synagogue leader and he's the one
7:55who came to Jesus and asked him, "Will
7:59you come lay your hands on my daughter?
8:01Because if you do, I know she will be
8:03made well." And as they're on their way
8:06to Jairus' house, there is a woman with
8:09the issue of blood who gets a drive-by
8:11miracle. She just happens to place
8:14herself in the right vicinity because
8:16you do know atmospheres matter.
8:20So, Jesus is having this conversation
8:23with this woman who just got healed and
8:26this is where we're picking up in our
8:28foundational reading. If you're ready,
8:30shout, "I'm ready."
8:32Mark chapter 5 verse 35, it says, "While
8:34Jesus was still speaking,
8:38some people came from the house of
8:40Jairus, the synagogue leader,
8:43'YOUR DAUGHTER
8:44IS DEAD.
8:46WHY bother the teacher anymore?'
8:52Overhearing what they said, Jesus told
8:54him, 'Do not be afraid, just believe.'
8:59He did not let anyone follow him except
9:02Peter, James, and John, the brother of
9:05James. First side bar, be careful who
9:08you allow to follow you when you're
9:09expecting God to do the miraculous.
9:14When they came to the house of the
9:15synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion
9:19with people crying and wailing loudly.
9:21He went in and said to them, 'Why all
9:24this commotion and wailing? The child is
9:27not dead,
9:29but asleep.'
9:32But they laughed at him. Second side
9:34bar, be careful of labels that other
9:36people try to give you.
9:38Because of their opinion you because of
9:41their opinion you could end up signing a
9:42death certificate on something that God
9:45already plans to raise up.
9:48After he put them all out, he took the
9:51child's father
9:52and mother and the disciples who are
9:54with him and went in where the child
9:57was. He took her by the hand and said to
10:00her, "Talitha koum." Which means little
10:03girl, I say to you get up.
10:07Immediately, the girl stood up and began
10:10to walk around. She was 12 years old.
10:14When I was reading this, I wondered why
10:16the author made it so intentional to
10:19remind us that she is 12 years old. And
10:21it was so powerful powerful to me
10:23because I remember that there was just a
10:25woman of blood who had an issue for 12
10:28years. So, the same time this girl was
10:31being born is the same time this woman
10:34got the diagnosis that she's bleeding
10:36and God heals both of them on the same
10:38day. This is why you should never get
10:40jealous of when God does it for them.
10:44Okay, keep reading the text.
10:47She was 12 years old. At this, they were
10:49completely astonished. He gave strict
10:53orders
10:55not to let anyone know about this and he
10:58told them to give her something to eat.
11:02Our clause of concern, our verse of
11:05emphasis, where we're going to park and
11:07unpack and exegete for the next few
11:09moments lives and takes residence in
11:12verse 41 of our foundational text where
11:15the scripture tells us that Jesus walked
11:18in the room.
11:20He touched her by grabbing her by the
11:22hand and said "Talitha koum." Which
11:26means little girl, I say to you
11:29get up.
11:31Could you help me introduce the title of
11:33this sermonic presentation. Find at
11:35least two people around you and tell
11:37them, I said, get up.
11:41I said, get up. On the side of you,
11:43behind you. You don't even recognize
11:45you're being prophetic right now,
11:47because the Holy Spirit's been telling
11:49that to somebody for the last four or
11:50five months. Get up. Get up out of that
11:53resentment. Get up out of that doubt.
11:56Get up out of that bed with that person
11:57that you're not married to. Get up.
12:00Get up out of overthinking. All
12:02overthinking is is a misuse of your
12:05creative self. Look how creative you
12:07are, thinking horror stories that will
12:09never happen. [laughter] GET UP OUT of
12:10worry. Worry is a down payment on a
12:12problem you MAY NEVER HAVE. SOMEBODY
12:14SHOUT, GET UP.
12:17GET UP OUT THE SAME PROBLEM, THE same
12:19struggle, year after year. Can we talk,
12:22family?
12:23Like, I'm cool with taking tests. I'm
12:25just not cool with taking the same test.
12:29I'm cool with taking tests. I'm just not
12:31cool with taking the same test from the
12:33same teacher.
12:35I'm cool with taking tests. I'm just not
12:37cool with taking the same test from the
12:39same teacher in the same classroom.
12:42Can I keep going? I'm cool with taking
12:44tests. I'm just not cool with taking the
12:46same test from the same teacher in the
12:49same classroom over the same subject. I
12:52got one more. I'm cool with taking
12:54tests. I'm just not cool with taking the
12:56same test from the same teacher in the
12:59same class over the same subject and
13:01keep making the same grade. After a
13:04while, you should want to pass. There's
13:07a reason why the fifth grade chair and
13:09the pre-K chair are different sizes,
13:12BECAUSE AFTER A WHILE, YOUR BUTT should
13:14not BE ABLE TO FIT IN THE same place. We
13:17need spiritual mature Christians.
13:23And please don't misconstrue you know
13:25I'm saying. Maturity has nothing to do
13:27with age.
13:29Cuz you could be an 82-year-old fool.
13:33And you could be 28 and have more wisdom
13:35than the 82-year-old. I didn't say
13:37experience, I said wisdom.
13:42Because maturity
13:44if I was a note taker, I'd write this
13:45down. Maturity is your ability to
13:48outgrow what used to fit.
13:54It's your ability to outgrow what used
13:57to fit.
13:58So you're telling me you've been saved
13:59since 1999.
14:02And you haven't outgrown cursing people
14:04out yet?
14:07You've been saved since 2022
14:10and you haven't outgrown being petty?
14:18Get up.
14:20Get up.
14:23Church family, if you look a little
14:25closer at this text,
14:28you will see that it's not just about
14:31this little girl who was pronounced
14:33dead.
14:34It's really about faith under fire.
14:39Can you believe
14:41even after you got a bad report?
14:45See, it's one thing to have professing
14:47faith.
14:49It's another thing to have faith that
14:51has endurance.
14:55It's one thing to say, "I'm a part of
14:57the Faith Center."
15:00It's another thing that when people
15:02encounter your life, they see you are a
15:04faith center.
15:06Y'all missed it.
15:10Jairus comes to Jesus
15:14desperate for his daughter's healing.
15:15And watch this, he gets bad news
15:19as he's standing right next to the
15:21healer.
15:25And he's watching somebody else get
15:29healing who didn't get there first.
15:34It's about faith under fire because
15:35remember Jesus turned and looked at
15:37Jairus and said, "Don't be afraid. Just
15:42believe."
15:44Just
15:45believe. And while he is standing next
15:48to Jesus,
15:49he hears these words that shatter the
15:51soul.
15:53Your daughter
15:55IS DEAD.
15:57WHY BOTHER THE teacher any longer? Why
16:01bother the teacher? Why bother? Why
16:04bother? That was standing out to me in
16:06sermon prep because I recognized that
16:09the statement why bother is a hymn that
16:13Satan wants us to do it with him when
16:15disappointment arrives in your life.
16:19Why bother?
16:20Why bother with prayer? It's not
16:22changing nothing.
16:23Why bother? All this fasting and
16:26believing God, I don't see any change in
16:28my life. Why bother?
16:29Why bother forgiving them when they're
16:31not even sorry? Why bother?
16:34WHY BOTHER TRUSTING God that he will
16:36send me a kingdom man when I have
16:38counterfeits readily available? Why
16:40bother?
16:42Why bother?
16:44Confess your faults one to another. I
16:45did that. Why bother with doing that
16:47again? They used my flaws as ammunition.
16:51They used my flaws as sermon content and
16:54podcast material. So, the next time I
16:56open up it's going to be at my autopsy.
16:58I'm not saying nothing else to anybody.
17:02Can we talk?
17:03Make it personal. I prayed for God to
17:06heal my grandfather. I wanted him to see
17:08me graduate from high school. I was
17:10praying and believing that next week
17:12later he died.
17:14Two years later we found my grandmother
17:16unconscious and I was believing and
17:18praying that God would heal her so that
17:21at least I would have a grandparent to
17:23see me graduate. She died too. So you
17:26think the next time I feel or I face
17:28something that's discouraging I'm going
17:30to pray? Why bother? We have to talk
17:32about this family. Because since we keep
17:36on giving these inspirational sermons is
17:38causing for us to be Christians who have
17:40no depth.
17:41You can't endure anything. You walk away
17:43from the faith if somebody talks about
17:45you. I bet the apostles are like, "Man,
17:47I got stoned. I got beat. I got
17:50abandoned on islands." And we have
17:52people who walk away from Jesus because
17:54of a layoff.
17:57Can you handle the disappointment?
17:59Disappointment has caused for there to
18:02be many agnostics and atheists.
18:05And because we care more about your
18:07pocketbook than souls.
18:11We're giving sugar-coated sermons that
18:14go viral. Then when you hear a sermon
18:16that has salt in it, it tastes like
18:18judgment.
18:22All these sugar-coated sermons are doing
18:25is giving Christians spiritual cavities.
18:29To where you like sweets.
18:31But you don't know how to handle Watch
18:33this. You don't hear sermons much about
18:35this. When the Holy Spirit is producing
18:37this fruit, long-suffering.
18:40See? See, we talk about patience. We
18:43talk about joy. But you do know
18:45long-suffering
18:48is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Maybe God
18:50is not punishing you, he's training you.
18:53You quit too easy.
18:57Okay.
18:59Why bother?
19:01Your daughter
19:03is dead.
19:04If I was in note-taking I'd write this
19:05down.
19:07The enemy doesn't have to attack your
19:08faith
19:10if he can convince you it's a waste of
19:12time.
19:17Your daughter
19:19is dead.
19:21I want you to feel the gravity of that.
19:24Put yourself
19:26in Jairus' shoes for a moment.
19:29And all of the thoughts
19:31that had to begin crashing in his mind
19:34like waves on a beachfront. If I would
19:37have came to Jesus sooner.
19:40When I first heard her cough.
19:43WHEN SHE FIRST STARTED SNEEZING. IF I
19:45WOULD HAVE CAME TO JESUS THEN, maybe my
19:47daughter would be alive.
19:49Or or maybe if I would have got a
19:51chariot.
19:53And we could have rushed through the
19:55marketplace. Maybe we could have got to
19:57my daughter. Or or or maybe it's this
20:00woman's fault.
20:02I came to Jesus first and she interrupt
20:06the whole process. And remember, he's a
20:08synagogue leader. So he knows the law.
20:11This woman's not even supposed to be out
20:13in public anyway.
20:15Because the Old Testament lets us know
20:17that this woman is considered
20:19ceremonially unclean.
20:22This is so good. Watch this.
20:24So the Old Testament lets us know that
20:27if the unclean thing touches the clean
20:30thing, the clean thing becomes unclean.
20:34But Jesus, the master physician,
20:36switches it around to where if the
20:38unclean thing touches the clean thing,
20:41the clean thing makes the unclean clean
20:43because he's a master physician.
20:49I got to Jairus I got to Jesus first.
20:52Here's the question, family. What's your
20:55posture when somebody gets the blessing
20:56before you?
21:01I told you spicy.
21:04And God makes you watch.
21:12Gets the blessing
21:14before you.
21:16It reminds me
21:18of this parable that Jesus gave in
21:20Matthew chapter 20.
21:22The parable of the workers in the
21:23vineyard.
21:25They've been working all day. There were
21:27people who worked from 9:00 to 5:00 and
21:29they got a denarius. And there were
21:31people who were working from 4:00 to
21:335:00 and they got a denarius, too. I
21:36want you to see their their their
21:37posture when this happens. In Matthew
21:39chapter 20, verse 10, it says, "Now,
21:42when those hired first came, they
21:46thought they would receive more."
21:48Somebody say entitlement.
21:50But each of them also received a
21:54denarius. And on receiving it, they
21:58grumbled at the master of the house.
22:02I understand many of us are like, "God,
22:05I trust you."
22:07But what about when your heart is
22:08screaming, "That's not fair."
22:15How are they walking through blessings
22:18and I keep going through fiery furnaces?
22:20How long do you want me cooked? I'm no
22:23longer original, Jesus. I'm extra
22:25crispy.
22:28How many more storms do I have to go
22:30through? How many more trials do I have
22:33to face? And they're walking through.
22:35When are you going to hear my prayer?
22:37God, that's not fair.
22:41If I could just be transparent, when we
22:43were believing and asking God for a
22:45building, I'm like, "God, I'm studying.
22:48I'm loving my wife. I'm striving to
22:51disciple your people and we can't find a
22:54building for your people, but this other
22:57dude down the street
22:59is not even preaching the Bible.
23:02He gets up there and tells jokes and
23:04inspiration, didn't quote one scripture,
23:07and they just opened their third campus.
23:09God, that's not fair.
23:14Sisters, let me talk to you.
23:16My sister been saved for 2 weeks
23:20and she's already been discovered by a
23:23godly man.
23:24I've been saved for 5 years. I've been
23:27celibate. I'm on the praise team. I'm
23:30worshiping. Lord, if I just be honest,
23:33if I have to be somebody else's
23:35bridesmaid, somebody going to have to
23:36catch these hands.
23:40SHE JUST GOT OFF A STRIPPER POLE.
23:46Is this too real?
23:49That's not fair. Oh, let me tell you
23:51this as a pastor. Just just pastor hat
23:53for a second. You could be doubting
23:56God's timing over somebody who just
23:58settled.
24:00Just because they said I do does not
24:03mean they just got blessed. And you're
24:05like, God, when you going to do it for
24:07me? And if God would talk back to you,
24:09he would say, They look overlooked every
24:11red flag. They didn't get counsel. They
24:14lust drove them. I'm trying to protect
24:16you. Everything that's valuable I
24:18covered. Diamonds are deep. Pearls are
24:21deep. Everything that's valuable I
24:24covered. So, can you trust me while I
24:26hide you? Because you can't just have an
24:28average man. You can't just have a dude
24:30that loves football and doesn't love
24:31Jesus. You can't just have any old type
24:34of man. I need a man who can cover you.
24:36Don't you let culture lie to you. The
24:38highest security for a woman is not how
24:41much you can provide for her. It's how
24:42much you can cover. You can cover her in
24:45the spirit. Cover her in prayer. I'M NOT
24:48TALKING ABOUT FIGHTING WITH YOUR FISTS.
24:49Do you know HOW TO FIGHT WITH YOUR
24:51FAITH? Does heaven listen to you?
25:02>> Sitting up here doubting God's timing
25:03because they just settled.
25:05You listen, don't you relationship goal
25:08anybody.
25:10You don't know what is behind that
25:13curtain.
25:15I'm telling you from counseling.
25:19That's a whole 'nother sermon, Bishop.
25:22When God going to do God didn't do that?
25:26They going to need counseling right
25:27after the honeymoon.
25:30And then they leave the church when I
25:31see when I say, "Man, it's hard to get
25:34God to bless what devil sent, huh?"
25:37It's hard when you want God to step in
25:39when you didn't care about Okay, I'm
25:40sorry.
25:43No, y'all got to have me back for that
25:45one. Mhm.
25:52Y'all stop.
25:53>> [cheering]
25:54>> Cuz I feel it. I'm like, "No."
26:01Jairus,
26:04your daughter
26:05is dead.
26:07Jesus looks at him,
26:10says,
26:11"Don't be afraid.
26:15Just believe." See,
26:17this so good because I think often we
26:19forget
26:21nothing shocks God.
26:25So, watch this.
26:27Jesus already knew
26:30before Jairus ever came to him,
26:34"I'm not going to get to your daughter's
26:36house to be a healer.
26:41You want me to be a healer,
26:44but I know I'm going to come to your
26:46house to be a resurrector."
26:49Wait. Wait. Wait.
26:51So, because I know I'm doing and you
26:54don't,
26:56I could take my time and allow a woman
26:59who has the issue of blood touch me and
27:01turn around and say, "Who touched me?"
27:04If I'm Jairus, I'm saying, "Lord, I
27:07don't care who touched you. I came to
27:10you first. Let's expedite this journey
27:12and go check on my baby girl."
27:16But Jesus
27:18knows all things.
27:21So, anytime you find yourself in a
27:23situation where it seems like God is
27:27taking his time, could it be because
27:30you're coming to him because you want
27:32him to be one thing, but he's taking his
27:35time with it because he wants to
27:36introduce I'm everything.
27:38I'm multifaceted. Now, it makes so much
27:42sense why when Moses asked the Lord,
27:45"Whom shall I say sent me?" God said,
27:47"You tell them I am."
27:51If I was Moses, I'd have been like, "You
27:53are what?"
27:56I am
27:57that I am.
27:59Because you can't compact or
28:01compartmentalize
28:03who I am to a am because you don't know
28:06what am you going to need me to be.
28:09Cuz on Monday, I may be your mind
28:12regulator. On Tuesday, I may be I am
28:15your protector. On Wednesday, I may be I
28:17am your way maker. On Thursday, I may be
28:20I am your peace. On Friday, I may be I
28:23am YOUR DEFENDER. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT AM
28:25YOU GOING to need me to be. Just know
28:28that I am. Can we pause right here and
28:30thank God that he is the I am that I am.
28:36I feel this in my spirit, y'all. You
28:39don't know what you need me to be
28:40tomorrow. Just know I'm everything
28:42today tomorrow yesterday and
28:44forevermore. I am.
28:50I want to show you another dimension of
28:53who I am. See, family, you'll never know
28:55him.
28:56You'll never know him as Jehovah Shalom,
29:00the God of your peace, unless you're
29:02faced with a situation where there's
29:04chaos all around you.
29:06But you still have peace within you. I'm
29:10talking about the peace where you'll be
29:11tripping over the fact you ain't
29:13tripping.
29:17I should be upset about what they said.
29:19I ain't even tripping.
29:20I should be mad at what they did. I'm
29:22not even tripping. I guess this is what
29:24the peace that surpasses
29:27all my understanding feels like. You'll
29:30never know him.
29:32You'll never know him as El Roi, the God
29:34who sees, until you find yourself in a
29:37situation where you feel overlooked and
29:39forgotten about. You'll never know HIM
29:42AS JEHOVAH JIREH, YOUR PROVIDER, until
29:44you find yourself in a situation where
29:47you can't provide for yourself, but
29:49someway and somehow God comes through
29:51clutch. You'll never know him. You'll
29:54never know HIM AS THE FOURTH MAN IN THE
29:55FIRE IF HE DOESN'T ALLOW YOU TO GO
29:57THROUGH a fiery furnace. YOU'LL NEVER
29:59KNOW HIM. YOU'LL NEVER KNOW him as
30:01Jehovah Rapha, your healer, until your
30:03mind needed healing, your children
30:05needed healing, your marriage needed
30:07healing, and the Lord healed you. YOU'LL
30:08NEVER KNOW HIM. You'll never know him as
30:11the God who shuts the mouth of the lions
30:14until he allows you to spend the night
30:16with beast.
30:21You'll never know him as a comforter
30:23until you face something uncomfortable.
30:28Gosh, I'm trying to get us to get this.
30:29It's the encounters with God
30:33that shows us he's multifaceted.
30:38This is so good, family.
30:41So, I want you to consider
30:43there's a chart that I made. I want us I
30:45want us to consider the steps of a
30:48delay.
30:49We have a delay due to introduction,
30:52a delay for instruction,
30:55and a delay for disobedience.
30:59One more time. A delay, please write
31:01this down. A delay
31:03for introduction,
31:05a delay for instruction,
31:08and a delay due to disobedience.
31:11The delay for introduction, this is the
31:13text all day.
31:15I'm delaying this to introduce I'm not
31:18just a healer, Jabez.
31:21I'm also a resurrector. Same thing with
31:23Mary and Martha. I'm not coming to heal
31:26Lazarus from his sickness.
31:28I'm going to let him die. I'm
31:29introducing another dimension of who I
31:32am.
31:33Then you have a delay for instruction.
31:36David, you're going to get anointed king
31:39over the Israel while Israel still has a
31:42king because now I need to give you
31:44instructions on how to dodge Saul's
31:47spears and not throw them back.
31:54I need you to get character.
31:56And then the last delay, we don't like
31:57to talk about that one. The delay due to
31:59disobedience.
32:01Because we always want to say God's
32:03timing and God's timing. Uh boo-boo,
32:05some of this stuff is delayed because of
32:06you.
32:07Like you're rebelling your way into
32:09seasons. God's grace will keep you.
32:13Do you have Bible? Yes, I do. Children
32:15of Israel all day. It was supposed to
32:17take them about 11 days to get over to
32:19Canaan. It end up taking 40 years.
32:24If you can identify
32:26which delay you're experiencing,
32:29it will adjust the way you pray.
32:31So, now here's the critical point.
32:34Here's the critical point.
32:35Remember,
32:36Jesus already knew.
32:40Jairus,
32:41she going to die.
32:44But what you came to me to be as a
32:45healer, I'm going to be a resurrector.
32:48So, steward this disappointment
32:52as we're going to your house.
32:55See, the whole sermon is about to shift.
32:59Can God trust you to steward
33:03disappointment?
33:05Two things, write this down.
33:07Do you know how to steward
33:10disappointment
33:12that God allows without leaving him?
33:20That's the first one. Second one, do you
33:22know how to steward disappointment
33:25without the pain leading you to waste
33:28time?
33:31Mess your whole relationship up. The
33:33only reason y'all dating
33:35is because you've been disappointed.
33:39That's it.
33:41That's it.
33:43Can you steward it?
33:45See,
33:46this is what's causing many people to
33:49leave the faith because we think
33:51following Jesus makes us immune from
33:53trouble.
33:56I don't know where we got this from.
33:58I small group with men. Yeah, I was
34:00doing all that praying and I was coming,
34:02but then my life got worse, so I
34:03stopped.
34:07I You didn't notice that the devil
34:09wasn't bothering you when you were going
34:11his way?
34:12Because in your Christian journey, if
34:15you never encounter a devil or
34:17resistance, y'all might be going the
34:19same way.
34:23It's not until you start trying to seek
34:26the Lord.
34:32Do you
34:33know how to steward
34:36disappointment?
34:38And we can't act like
34:40this is not biblical.
34:42Because it had to be disappointing
34:45when God gave the instruction to Abraham
34:48sacrifice your son as he was testing
34:50him. We can't act like this is not
34:52biblical because it had to be
34:54disappointing for the disciples to
34:56follow Jesus for 3 years and see him
34:59bloody mutilated and disfigured on the
35:01cross. We can't act like this is not
35:03biblical for Joseph to not do anything
35:06wrong, but then his brothers throw him
35:09in a pit and sell him into slavery, and
35:11then Potiphar's wife got mad because he
35:13wouldn't give her some, and now he finds
35:15himself in prison. Do you know how to
35:18steward disappointment?
35:22That's where the Lord produces this
35:24fruit long-suffering.
35:29And if there's anything my generation
35:30does not know how to do is suffer.
35:39Cuz what goes viral is your season.
35:42It's your time.
35:44It's your moment. What doesn't is not
35:47your season.
35:48It's not your time. God's handing out
35:50new cars. No, he's handing out crosses.
35:54See? See how quiet it's getting right
35:56here?
35:57When I was talking about you need a
35:58different type of man, YES, YOU BETTER
36:00PREACH.
36:04WHEN I talk about no, maybe you don't
36:06have the character to handle a godly man
36:07right now. It's quiet.
36:10It gets quiet. Because kings regulate
36:14the chaos, provide order. So, if you
36:17like disorder, a kingdom man is going to
36:19make you feel like you're suffocating.
36:22See how quiet it gets right there?
36:25Everybody shouts
36:27Until you start
36:30speaking about
36:32the Lord produces this fruit
36:35of long-suffering.
36:39Why aren't we telling more people
36:42that sometimes following Jesus comes
36:45with heartbreak?
36:48Like, can we be real?
36:50Giving up your way
36:52for his way is not always easy.
36:56You know why many of us have delayed
36:58disobedience? Because you know if you
37:00obey God
37:02and he turns the page, there's somebody
37:05who won't be in the next chapter.
37:07So, you delay with your surrender
37:11because you know if I obey God, I can't
37:13run to their arms anymore.
37:18Disappointment. Why aren't we telling
37:21people that sometimes it hurts when you
37:23stand 10 toes down and you're sold out
37:26and your family starts talking about
37:28you? Your family starts badmouthing you
37:31and then you wonder what's wrong with my
37:33family? Could it be God has anointed you
37:35to be the chain-breaker and you're never
37:37going to get support from people who are
37:39passing down toxicity. Stop expecting
37:42your mama to support when she was the
37:44one that's toxic. You're the one that's
37:45going to break it. Can you steward the
37:48disappointment?
37:54We need stronger Christians in America.
37:57We will leave the church because WE
37:59DON'T LIKE A SERMON AND OUR BROTHERS AND
38:01SISTERS in other parts of the world are
38:03being martyred FOR CHRIST. THEY HAVE
38:05TORN PAGES OF THE BIBLE AND THEY'RE
38:07READING it and holding on to the text. I
38:10was reading a story ABOUT MARTYRS FOR
38:12CHRIST WHERE THIS SON WAS GETTING KILLED
38:14AND THE FATHER WAS RIGHT THERE AND THEY
38:16SAID, "DENOUNCE JESUS." HE SAID, "NO."
38:18HE CHOPPED OFF THE BOY'S FOOT. "DENOUNCE
38:20JESUS." He said, "No." He chopped off
38:22his son's hand. And the little boy is
38:24looking at his father and said, "Daddy,
38:25don't denounce Jesus. I'm about TO SEE
38:27HIM. DADDY, DON'T DENOUNCE JESUS." And
38:30we don't like if it rains. We won't come
38:32to church if we feel like, "You know
38:34what? This is going to mess with my
38:36sleep." And other parts in the world,
38:37they're suffering for Christ.
38:42>> [screaming]
38:43>> There's a weakness we have here in
38:45America. I'm like, WE CAN'T HANDLE real
38:47persecution. You think PERSECUTION IS
38:49SOMEBODY UNFOLLOWING YOU.
39:01Simply put,
39:03pain
39:05is inevitable.
39:07Misery
39:08is optional.
39:13And because there are often times
39:16where God will use the disappointment to
39:19train us,
39:21we will label everything hard the devil.
39:28It's supposed to rain. The devil don't
39:30want me to get to church.
39:34We're in spring.
39:36And y'all live in South Florida.
39:41So, we can't even discern where we're
39:44facing real warfare.
39:48Ephesians chapter 6 verse 12 tells us
39:50this.
39:51For we do not wrestle
39:54against flesh and blood. I love a
39:56Bible-believing church.
39:58But against principalities,
40:00against powers, against the rulers of
40:03the darkness of this age, against
40:06spiritual hosts of wickedness in the
40:09heavenly places. I tried to get my
40:11church to understand this. I said,
40:12"Okay listen.
40:13In the word principality, the root word
40:15is principal.
40:17I want you to think of a school.
40:19A principal's job is to have teachers
40:23who teach students.
40:27Don't miss this.
40:29A principal's job is to have teachers,
40:33music, shows, have teachers to teach
40:37students, us, their curriculum.
40:41If you are aware, there principalities
40:44all over the United States.
40:47On the West Coast, there's a
40:48principality of perversion. The porn
40:51industry is there. Hollywood is there.
40:54In Louisiana, there's a principality of
40:56sorcery and witchcraft. In the Midwest,
41:00Chicago, there's a principle of rage and
41:03murder. In Texas, there's a principle of
41:06religion. We are a lot of Pharisees.
41:08We're called the Texas Bible Belt. We
41:11know the Bible, but we don't live it.
41:16And when you understand that the enemy
41:19has a principle in certain places, then
41:22you can do exactly what Bishop has been
41:23trying to get you to do. Take the
41:25kingdom to the streets, so that
41:28principle can't reign here because the
41:31kingdom is in full effect here. But when
41:33you have Christians who can't handle
41:35disappointment, you won't be kingdom
41:37because you thinking about yourself WHEN
41:39YOU HAVE SOMEBODY right next to you who
41:40is struggling, but you thinking about
41:42your situation.
41:44>> [crying]
41:47>> So, I want us to notice this process.
41:50Request,
41:52delay,
41:54develop,
41:55eviction,
41:57fulfillment.
41:58Okay?
41:59Can I get all of us to say it? Request,
42:02delay,
42:03develop,
42:05eviction,
42:07fulfillment.
42:08I'll leave this up here real quick. This
42:10This problem. Most of us want, request,
42:13and then fulfillment.
42:17Am I right?
42:19I prayed and it didn't happen.
42:21Fulfillment.
42:23Request, delay. Woman with the issue of
42:26blood touches.
42:28Okay?
42:29Develop.
42:30Don't be afraid, Jairus.
42:32Just believe. Let me build up your
42:34faith.
42:36Eviction. Jesus gets to Jairus' house.
42:39They crying, wailing. He says, "She's
42:42not dead.
42:43She sleep." They laugh at him.
42:46Jesus kicks all of them out. I love that
42:49version of Jesus because I'm like, "Man,
42:51you won't pay rent here. You you
42:53>> [clears throat]
42:54>> Mama, you kicked out. Big Mama, you
42:56kicked out. But you know how the Lord
42:57is. If you invite me in, I'm not coming
42:59in as a house guest. I'm coming in as a
43:02landlord. I'm taking over all of this. I
43:05want every room. I don't care about the
43:06potpourri that you put in the living
43:08room. Let me go way back in that attic
43:10where you're still dealing with that
43:11trauma from childhood. Let's talk about
43:13that. I can care less your bathroom.
43:15Ooh, it looks so nice. Can I go in your
43:16kitchen though where you're still
43:18consuming lust? Let me talk about that.
43:24Request,
43:26delay,
43:27develop,
43:29eviction,
43:30fulfillment. Here's the question.
43:33Which phase are you at?
43:37Most people die at the develop phase
43:40because they blame the devil
43:44for when God is developing you.
43:46What you call trouble is really
43:48training.
43:51But the devil is like, "I'm not even
43:52bothering them. Why do they keep
43:53rebuking me?"
43:57This they attitude.
43:59I haven't touched them since 2005.
44:03Y'all laughing, but I'm serious. Yes,
44:05Lord.
44:06I want us to see this
44:08and then I'll be done.
44:11When he walks in,
44:13he touches her,
44:15takes her by the hand, Talitha koum.
44:19Little girl, I say to you,
44:22get up.
44:23Okay. Okay.
44:27After she gets up,
44:30he says, "Okay,
44:32give her something to eat."
44:34Hear me.
44:36Be careful where you feed after the
44:38miracle.
44:41Please hear me, y'all. Please.
44:44Right now, it is dangerous to have
44:48buffet Christianity.
44:53Everybody's not preaching sound
44:54doctrine.
44:57I know I'm new school, but I was raised
44:59old school.
45:00My mama taught me, you don't eat at
45:03everybody's house.
45:08And you know what else she told me? Even
45:10if you hungry, if they offer it, say no.
45:15But I wanted the Twinkie. No.
45:20Anybody else's mama was like that?
45:23You don't know what they put in it.
45:28Trying to get a generation to understand
45:30this.
45:30We have dirty hands
45:34cooking sermons.
45:39And we think
45:41because it went viral.
45:47Dirty hands.
45:51If you knew, I'm telling you, one of the
45:53biggest disappointments of 2023
45:57was I met the people that I grew up
45:59watching.
46:05>> The voices
46:07of pioneers that were going through the
46:09corridors of my home and TBN, I met
46:11them.
46:15And I was grieved
46:20THAT IT'S A SHOW.
46:24They know what to say.
46:27They don't love Jesus.
46:30They don't love people.
46:32They love crowds.
46:36And it hurts
46:38because
46:39I got closer to Christ from your
46:41ministry.
46:45But when I meet you, you're a
46:46businessman.
46:51The fear of God has gone away from our
46:54churches.
46:57Told my wife, the only person I look up
46:59to is Jesus.
47:03That's it.
47:05I met them all. I don't look up to none
47:06of them.
47:09I never wanted to do what I do.
47:12I'm leery of those who want to preach.
47:17Like, don't you know you going to stand
47:18before the Lord?
47:21And we have a higher level.
47:27I'd rather
47:28get on somebody's nerves.
47:32Irritate them.
47:34Die, go to heaven.
47:37And see them there.
47:40Versus me telling you what you want to
47:42hear.
47:44And I stand before the Lord
47:46and I have blood on my hands.
47:50Bishop, I don't even know if you
47:51remember this. Last time I was here in
47:532023, we went out to lunch. And you
47:55said, "I made this decision.
47:57I'm not going to go to church and go to
47:58hell."
48:03Said, "If I'm going to go to hell, I'm
48:04going to do my own thing.
48:06But I'm not going to fake it."
48:15I don't ever want to hear
48:17"Depart from me.
48:21I never knew you."
48:25And I'm telling you,
48:29be careful
48:31where you feed.
48:34Consider that even your social media is
48:36called a social feed.
48:41Want to know your diet? What's your
48:42algorithm?
48:46Show you your diet.
48:49Jesus says something
48:52after all of this that doesn't make any
48:53sense to me.
48:57He says, "Feed her."
49:00And then he gave strict orders.
49:03That's what your Bible says, strict
49:06orders
49:07not to tell anyone.
49:11I think, y'all. I'm like logical. Like
49:14Okay.
49:15Don't tell nobody.
49:20You just were in the marketplace.
49:22And there was so many people touching
49:24you.
49:26That when you said, "Who touched me?"
49:27the disciples said, "Everybody's
49:29touching you." He said, "No, this touch
49:30was different."
49:32So there was a crowd.
49:34You got to Jairus' house.
49:37And you said,
49:39"She's not dead.
49:41She sleep."
49:43They laughed and you kicked them all
49:45out.
49:46But then you told the parents,
49:49"Don't tell nobody."
49:52And then I got the revelation.
49:55What I'm about to do
49:57is going to be so miraculous,
50:00you not going to have to tell anybody
50:02anything.
50:03They just going to see it walking.
50:06The very thing that they said was dead,
50:09they're just going to see it walking.
50:11The marriage that they said was dead,
50:13they're just going to see y'all booking
50:15vacation packages. The ministry that
50:18they said was dead, they just going TO
50:19SEE IT WALKING. SOME OF US TALK TOO
50:22MUCH. Start walking.
50:26You don't need to tell anybody.
50:29They're going to see the same thing that
50:31everybody SAID WAS DEAD IS NOW ALIVE.
50:34THAT'S THE testimony I want.
50:37So I don't have to tell people I've been
50:39praying. I don't have to tell people
50:40I've been fasting. You just going to see
50:42it walking.
50:45Can I get somebody to say this, you talk
50:47too much.
50:55There is
50:57a specific prayer I want to pray.
51:02If it's not you,
51:03it might be.
51:05So you might want to
51:07agree with just a deposit of faith.
51:10If anybody
51:12is facing a disappointment right now,
51:14could you just stand wherever you are?
51:17A disappointment.
51:18A child disappointment, marital
51:21disappointment.
51:26I should look around the room, it's
51:27almost everybody.
51:32If you haven't yet, keep living.
51:35Or you may know the cheat code.
51:39But I want to pray a specific prayer for
51:40you.
51:45Cuz we have people renouncing the faith
51:48at a high volume. And when I ask
51:51atheists or agnostics or even people who
51:53no longer call themselves Christian,
51:55they usually say this.
51:57I asked God too, but he
52:01I thought that God would
52:04If God is so good, why does he allow all
52:06this evil in the world?
52:10So, what's evil, man? All the evil, bro.
52:12Murder and rape and How could a good God
52:15see all of this evil and not stop it? I
52:17don't believe in that God.
52:21I said, "Who murders?
52:23Who rapes?
52:25Is it not man?
52:28So, really what you're saying is why
52:30hasn't God killed all of us?
52:33We tried that with Noah.
52:37Few texts later,
52:39we're right back wicked.
52:42We tried it with Sodom and Gomorrah.
52:45Destroyed a whole town.
52:48Then Lot's
52:49daughters got him drunk
52:52and were having sex with their father.
52:54What is that? Sodom and Gomorrah type
52:56behavior. So, just because I killed
52:59that, doesn't mean I stopped the sinful
53:02nature.
53:05You disappointed at the wrong one.
53:11My prayer
53:14is that in this small moment,
53:17hear my words, the Lord could trust you
53:21to steward disappointment.
53:26Not complain.
53:29Steward it.
53:33I'm trusting you, Jairus.
53:35You're disappointed just for a moment,
53:38but I'm about to do the miraculous. But
53:41don't leave me while you're disappointed
53:42right now.
53:44Stay close.
53:47With heads bowed, eyes closed.
53:50Father God, you told us in this life
53:53we will have trouble. Not we might,
53:56but we will.
53:59But you told us to be of good cheer
54:02because you have overcome the world.
54:06Father, many of us
54:09I don't know everybody's story.
54:11I don't know the betrayal.
54:13I don't know the pain.
54:15I don't know the trauma.
54:17But I do know what bitterness will do to
54:19the heart.
54:21I do know what unforgiveness will do to
54:23our prayer life.
54:26I do know what holding a record of wrong
54:28against our spouse, our children what
54:30that do to our thought life.
54:34Because all bitterness does is
54:35contaminate the container.
54:38Father, I'm asking right now that you
54:41shift the perspective of your sons and
54:43of your daughters to trust you
54:46even when we don't understand. You
54:48already told us that your ways are not
54:50our ways. Help us to remember that you
54:53know what you're doing. Many times, God,
54:55our control issues is our obsession to
54:58control tomorrow. But God, you're a
55:01better God than we ever could be. Help
55:03us to stop trying to lift God weight and
55:05control outcomes and control impact and
55:08control reach and control results.
55:11That's your job. Forgive us for trying
55:13to be sovereign.
55:16I'm asking God that you soften the heart
55:20of those
55:22who have been so upset, maybe even with
55:25you.
55:27Help us to remember the same way you
55:30checked Job for four chapters.
55:34Where were we
55:36when you told the sun
55:39to shine in the stars,
55:41you stretch out the heavens like a
55:43curtain. You know every star in the sky
55:46by name. You know every hair follicle on
55:48our head by number. God, you know us.
55:51Help us
55:52to stop being so entitled,
55:56but to lay down our will. We're asking,
55:58oh God, that you give us
56:00a different perspective
56:02of when you say no.
56:05So much preaching about your yes.
56:09Help us to trust your no.
56:13So that we can know that your yes, that
56:16your wait, and that your no are all
56:19submerged in the same amount of love.
56:25Help us to forgive those
56:27that hurt us.
56:29How can we be Christ-like if we don't
56:30have a Judas?
56:33Help us to learn whenever a Judas shows
56:36up,
56:37something in us has to die.
56:42Kill it.
56:45And you don't cut us to hurt us.
56:48You cut us to keep us.
56:51The same way our OBGYN asked me, "Mr.
56:54Flowers,
56:55do you want to cut the umbilical cord?"
56:58I had to cut it to keep my child.
57:02Cut every umbilical cord that is nursing
57:05us
57:06with Egypt,
57:09so that we can walk into our promise.
57:12Jesus' name we pray. And everybody says,
57:15"Amen."
57:17God bless you.
57:20Come on. Can we thank God for Pastor
57:22Jerry?
