11:37With the spirit that we feel in this
11:38place, I ask you one question as we
11:40prepare for prayer. What do you have
11:42need of?
11:44What do you have need of? The men of God
11:47are going to come and prepare themselves
11:48and we're going to make our way forward.
11:49This is the kickoff to May of Miracles.
11:51Step forward now.
11:54Don't wait till the second or third week
11:56or see if Brother Klein dances going to
11:57preach good cuz I'm telling you he's
11:59going to.

12:03If you have a need or if you have a
12:05family member, I encourage you to step

12:18fervent prayer of a righteous man
12:20availeth much.
12:21What we do here isn't just routine, but
12:24it says bring your needs to the altar
12:25and let the men of God pray for you,
12:27laying on you with oil and laying their
12:30hands upon you. Let's go before the Lord
12:31in prayer and if you're not praying for
12:33someone or coming here, could you just
12:35stretch your hands out to everyone
12:36praying here at this altar? God, we come
12:38before you faith believing, God.
12:40We're so thankful for every opportunity
12:42we have to come into your presence and
12:44the spirit that we feel right now.
12:46We pray right now for every person, God,
12:48those with uncertainty, with needs in
12:50health and finance and provision in
12:51their family. We pray, Lord, that you
12:53cover those right now, that you
12:54encourage us, that your spirit would
12:56flow through this place.
12:58Lord, be with each and every need, God,
12:59and turn our needs at this altar on this
13:01first day of May of miracles, turn them
13:03into testimonies for your glory. Clap

26:52us right now in this place is thinking
26:54of someone, whether it's a family
26:56member, a friend, a co-worker that needs
26:58you, that's in desperation. It might be
27:00ourself. If that's you, put your

56:40If I get a little
56:42out there
56:42I can pull it back. All is good.
56:44But what if I
56:45get distracted?
56:48What if I get weary?
56:50What if I get tired?
56:53What if my kids are
56:54so hard
56:55that I don't
56:56have time
56:57and I'm close to the edge and
57:00just a little another danger.
57:02When I could just as God.
57:05over here.
57:07A long way from the ragged edge of
57:09heaven and hell.
57:12If I fall
57:13I fall in.

57:18in His grace. I fall in His mercy.
57:21I fall in the tender loving arms of the

57:33to live on the danger zone between

57:36I I like to call the
57:37buffer zone the hedge.
57:40This is how you
57:43A little buffer between me and the
57:44hostility of worldliness.
57:47The hostility of the evils of this
57:49world.
57:50Is it heaven or hell? Maybe not, but
57:52here's where I'm trying to live right
57:53here on this line.
57:55Because I'm not trying to tell God,
57:57I want your maximum, but I'll offer you
57:59my
58:03I'm not trying to sow
58:04minimum requirements and get maximum
58:08I'm all in.
58:09I'm in this thing to win this thing.
58:12If I get to heaven and found out I did a
58:13few more things that I needed to do to
58:15get there, I doubt I'd want to be
58:16disappointed.
58:19The old The old church called it
58:21The old church called it living on the
58:22fence.
58:24One foot in the world, one foot in the
58:26church. The most miserable people you'll
58:27ever meet.
58:32Maybe you're changing
58:36I found out that it's not hard to live
58:38for God when you live for God harder.
58:41The secret to this thing is all your
58:43heart, all your mind, all your soul, all
58:45your strength.
58:47Just get in
58:48and say, "I'm all in. Whatever it takes.
58:50Whatever I don't It doesn't even matter
58:51to me."
58:53Well, it would sure be refreshing,
58:54pastor, instead of me becoming and you
58:56saying, to do to be saved?
58:58What do I have to do to be a member of
58:59the church? What do I have to do to be
59:01in leadership? What do I have to do to
59:03sing in the choir?" What if somebody
59:05came and said, "What else you got?
59:08I've done everything you told me to do.
59:09You got some more stuff what would make
59:10me stronger in the Lord?
59:13What would help me?
59:15You know, there's a lot of things I do
59:16in this marriage relationship, 41 years
59:19going now that I don't remember agreeing
59:21to.
59:24As I recall, remember brother, it was
59:26like sickness and health, richer and
59:27poorer, forsaking all others.
59:32Did I miss one?
59:34I think that's about it.
59:36I'll tell you, we're way past that.
59:41I've learned that if if my wife looks
59:42over at me and says, "You want some ice
59:43cream?" That has nothing to do with me.
59:47That means she wants ice cream, but I'm
59:49supposed to say I want ice cream, so I
59:51stop to get ice cream, and she just
59:52happens to get both. Cuz I was there
59:54getting it.
59:57God to teach you this stuff.
60:01A couple years ago I needed some new
60:02glasses. I went on the internet, saw a
60:04pair I liked, sent in my prescription,
60:06bought them, put them on, I was happy. I
60:07was ready to get them glasses.
60:09I bought them on the internet. She said,
60:10"They don't look good."
60:12She went and got me other glasses.
60:15I didn't think they looked good.
60:17They were so big I felt like Buck
60:18Rogers.
60:20Guess which glasses I was wearing? The
60:21ones she bought.
60:25April 16th I turned 61 years old.
60:29I am a grown man.
60:31I travel all over the world.
60:33I'm in a hotel in some faraway place by
60:35myself. She ain't even there.
60:37Just having a ball.
60:39And I
60:40I'm in church, so I'm having a good
60:42time.
60:44And she texts back that
60:45tie you're supposed to wear, the blue
60:46one.
60:49HELP!
60:51SHE'S NOT EVEN THERE.
60:54THE PHONE CALL'S OVER.
60:56GUESS WHAT I DO.
60:58GO OVER, TAKE THE TIE OFF, put the other
61:00tie on, and go to church.
61:02Not because
61:05she was going to divorce me if I didn't
61:07wear the right tie to church.
61:11But there is a law that is greater than
61:14the legal written laws,
61:16and it's called the law of love.
61:19Because the truth of the matter is I
61:20love my wife.
61:22I want her to be happy.
61:24And if the blue tie makes her [laughter]
61:25happy, she went to the effort of picking
61:27it out and putting it in there. If she
61:29wants me to wear it, it's a small
61:31inconvenience for me to take this one
61:32off and put that one on, and now she's
61:34happy.
61:36I don't even want ice cream, but she's
61:38wanting me to want ice cream, so yes,
61:40let's stop and get some ice cream.
61:42There's been a few times I didn't even
61:44order anything. She didn't care.
61:48It's because of love that possesses, I'm
61:50not in this thing to offer you the most
61:52minimum requirements I can get by with.
61:54If it pleases you, I'm willing to do it.
62:00Well, I hope y'all are ready. I was I
62:02was pastoring years ago in Lynchburg,
62:04Virginia. In Lynchburg, we have what
62:05they call rednecks.
62:07And I was preaching on the Pentecost
62:08Sunday about the power of the Holy
62:09Ghost.
62:10And one of them fellows comes to the
62:12altar, and he walks up to the altar,
62:13looks up at me, and says, "I'm here to
62:14get that ghost."
62:18Fortunately for old Glenn, I
62:20spoke a little redneck.
62:22I said, "All right, Bubba, throw them
62:23hands up. Here it comes." Pow.
62:25He got the ghost.
62:28Got so fired up for God.
62:30He started wanting to travel with me
62:31everywhere, drive me around everywhere,
62:33so I let him.
62:34We're riding along one day, old Glenn,
62:36long blonde hair, red bandana, wore it
62:38everywhere, wore it to church, wore it
62:39every place he went. He's all
62:41teary-eyed. He's so fired up for God,
62:43"Pastor,
62:45if there's anything at all you see in my
62:46life you think would help me, if there's
62:48anything get me closer to the Lord, I
62:50just love the Lord so much. I said, "You
62:52mean that, Glenn?" He said, "Yeah." I
62:53said, "You need to lose that bandana."
62:58He looked at me like I had asked for his
62:59firstborn child, Brother Slowcheck.
63:02"But pastor, I wear this everywhere.
63:04This is my" I said, "I know.
63:06You need TO GET IT GONE."
63:10NOW, Y'ALL DO UNDERSTAND.
63:12THERE AIN'T NO verses in the Bible about
63:14no wearing red bandana. [laughter]
63:16You can't even extract it out of the
63:18Greek or Hebrew.
63:20I mean, bend it. It's not [laughter]
63:21there. It doesn't exist.
63:23THERE'S NO BIBLE principle for such a
63:25thing.
63:26But he didn't ask me
63:28to give him a Bible verse or tell him
63:30something that he's violating. HE SAID,
63:31"PASTOR, WHAT DO YOU THINK
63:34WOULD HELP ME GET STRONGER IN THE LORD?"
63:36AND I KNEW THAT THAT RED bandana
63:40connected him to his previous lifestyle.
63:42AND I KNEW HE WAS TRYING TO LIVE FOR
63:44GOD. AND SO I SAID, "YOU NEED TO BREAK
63:46YOUR IDENTITY with the world and take ON
63:49A NEW IDENTITY WITH the church."
63:52And I couldn't GIVE HIM A HEAVEN OR HELL
63:54BIBLE VERSE, BUT HE SAID, "I just want
63:56to be closer to Jesus."
63:59You know, WHEN I COME UP BACK IN THE OLD
64:01CHURCH, we had what we called personal
64:02convictions.
64:03There was an old fellow in the church uh
64:05when I was coming up, he wouldn't touch
64:07dice. He wouldn't play Monopoly. He
64:08wouldn't play Yahtzee. He wouldn't play
64:09nothing with dice.
64:11It was the most crazy thing I'd ever
64:12heard in my life. I said, "What in the
64:13world does dice got to do with
64:14anything?"
64:16So finally I got the courage up to ask
64:18him, "What's the deal with the dice?
64:20IS IT HEAVEN OR HELL?"
64:23He said, "Son, let me explain to you."
64:25He said, "I come up on the streets in
64:27the back alleys. When I was a young man,
64:29we'd throw dice up against the curb and
64:31we'd gamble with that dice and it's how
64:33I made my money as a young man." He
64:35said, "Then as I got later in life, that
64:36habit took me to Las Vegas." And he
64:39said, "There on the tables I would play
64:41and then it became the alcohol and then
64:42it become uh uh adulterous affairs and
64:45it became everything that goes with it
64:46and he said when I get dice in my hand
64:48it's not just the dice it reminds me it
64:51takes me back to a lifestyle. I can
64:53smell the alcohol. I can hear the music.
64:56It just he said I can't do it I can't
64:57and you know what? He probably doesn't
64:59need to.
65:00It doesn't have that effect on me. I was
65:03never part of that. You know there comes
65:05a place in time where you got to decide
65:06you got to work out your salvation and
65:08say hey I can't do that. I can't be part
65:11of that. That affects me different than
65:12it affects you. I've got to I've got TO
65:14DRAW I I'M I'M LIVING OVER HERE. I GOT
65:16TO HAVE A LITTLE HEDGE.
65:18CUZ I'M NOT JUST TRYING TO BARELY BE
65:20SAVED HERE.
65:22I'M NOT TRYING TO JUST BARELY GET IN.
65:24I'm not just trying to barely MAKE IT. I
65:26AM TRYING TO MAKE HEAVEN MY HOME AND I'M
65:29TRYING TO BE AN influence that others
65:30can lean on and be a voice AND
65:34IF MY PHONE RINGS AT 2:00 IN THE MORNING
65:36AND IT'S ONE OF MY LOVED ONES IN
65:37TROUBLE, I WANT TO HAVE ALREADY PRAYED
65:39THAT DAY AND THE DAY before and the day
65:40before and the day before. I want TO BE
65:42ABLE TO GO RIGHT into prayer. YOU DON'T
65:43YOU DON'T WANT TO LEARN TO PRAY WHEN YOU
65:45NEED TO PRAY.
65:47We'll get on some of that this week.
65:49So I don't know you because he was
65:50probably sitting with his legs hanging
65:53out over the edge of the
65:55window sill and
65:57especially if he was a young teenager
65:58you like to live dangerously AND
66:00HE'S ALL GOOD I GOT IT. BE CAREFUL YOU
66:03COULD FALL FROM [screaming] THERE.
66:05SAID THE PASTOR.
66:07OH I GOT IT.
66:09I'M GOOD.
66:11I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING.
66:13VIOLATING PROVERBS 3:5 lean not to your
66:16OWN UNDERSTANDING.
66:19I'M OKAY RIGHT WHERE I AM. I KNOW WHAT
66:22I'M DOING AND YOU'RE FINE AS LONG AS YOU
66:24ARE PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION.
66:27But let life gut punch you.
66:31Let something hit you that knocks you
66:33out of your intellect for a minute.
66:37Get a little WEARY ALONG THE WAY.
66:39GET A LITTLE TIRED. AND THE NEXT THING
66:42YOU KNOW, BECAUSE you had positioned
66:43yourself IN SUCH A FASHION,
66:46when it hits you, when you get a little
66:48push,
66:50he fell in the direction he was
66:53leaning.
66:55You know, we always look when these
66:56hurricanes come through Florida,
66:58we got to check out where all the trees
66:59are,
67:00how they're leaning. Why? Because we
67:02know that the likelihood is, if this
67:04tree falls, it's going to fall in the
67:06direction of its lean.
67:08TAKES A MIGHTY STRONG WIND TO PUSH A
67:10tree down against its lean.
67:14I don't want to be an easy mark for the
67:15devil.
67:17I I don't WANT TO FALL OUT OVER JUST
67:19THINGS THAT DON'T REALLY MATTER.
67:21I don't want to be the collateral DAMAGE
67:22OF SOMEBODY ELSE HAVING a bad day.
67:26I remember one time somebody said,
67:27"Well, I COULDN'T SEE TONIGHT. I SAW
67:29SISTER SO-AND-SO IN THE CHOIR, AND SHE
67:31WAS SINGING IN THE CHOIR, AND I SAW HER
67:33LAST WEEK DOWN AT THE PIGGLY Wiggly
67:34smoking a cigarette."
67:37So, I COULDN'T WORSHIP THE WHOLE
67:39SERVICE.
67:40WELL, WHOEVER SHE WAS, SHE SHOULDN'T
67:42have been smoking a cigarette down by
67:43the Piggly Wiggly.
67:44And if she was, she shouldn't be in the
67:46choir. She'll be getting her heart right
67:48with God. But sometimes it takes A
67:49LITTLE WHILE TO WORK ALL THAT OUT. BUT
67:51YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU can't worship God
67:55because there's somebody THAT'S HAVING A
67:57STRUGGLE, that's going through a bad
67:58day, THAT'S HAVING SOME DIFFICULTIES?
68:01GOD'S BEEN TOO GOOD TO ME
68:04for your mess to keep me from
68:05worshipping God.
68:07GOD BROUGHT ME OUT OF THE MIRE CLAY. He
68:09delivered ME WHEN I CALLED OUT, WHEN I
68:11WAS DESPERATE. HE PICKED ME UP. GOD'S
68:13BEEN GOOD TO ME, NO MATTER HOW YOU'RE
68:15LIVING, what you're doing. There should
68:17not be hypocrisy, but you know, IF
68:18YOU'RE GOING TO FIND A HYPOCRITE, WHERE
68:20YOU GOING TO LOOK FOR ONE?
68:23I mean, really.
68:24It's just where they are. That's like
68:25saying, "I can't GO TO THE HOSPITAL cuz
68:26there's sick people over there."
68:29Can't worry about what's happening TO
68:30THE GUY DOWN THE HALL. I NEED HELP HERE.
68:33FOLKS, I LOVE YOU, BUT I REFUSE to be an
68:36easy collateral damage because somebody
68:38else is having a bad day. LET ME TELL
68:40YOU WHAT I LEARNED AS A PASTOR.
68:42I'VE WATCHED SOMEBODY GET OFFENDED WHEN
68:44THEY FIND OUT ABOUT one person's
68:45situation. Uh they get all mad, they
68:47quit, they leave, they run off. People
68:49don't backslide these days, they just go
68:51to a different church.
68:56Okay, I paused on purpose to let that
68:58one sink in a little bit.

69:02DOING RIGHT GETS CONFRONTED. NEXT THING
69:05YOU KNOW, IN THE MIDDLE OF A RED-HOT
69:06SUNDAY NIGHT REVIVAL, YOU SEE THEM OVER
69:08THERE IN THE ALTAR and they're praying
69:09through AND GETTING RIGHT WITH GOD. THEY
69:11GO ON AND LIVE FOR GOD AND NOW YOU'RE
69:13LOST BECAUSE THEY WERE GOING through a
69:14bad season.
69:18I What
69:19I ain't doing it.
69:21You don't WANT TO WORSHIP, I'M
69:22WORSHIPING. YOU DON'T WANT TO PRAY, I'M
69:23PRAYING. YOU DON'T WANT TO FAST, I'M
69:25FASTING. As for me, you decide for you,
69:28it's a free country. IF YOU WANT TO LIVE
69:29ON THE EDGE, GOOD LUCK. HOPE IT WORKS

71:15DON'T FALL OUT INTO THE WORLD. WHY IS IT
71:16WHEN PEOPLE FALL OUT with the church,
71:18they fall into the world?
71:21Because they were leaning out before
71:23they had a fall out.
71:25IT WAS ALREADY IN THEIR MIND BEFORE IT
71:27EVER BECOME REALITY.
71:29Sitting there readjusting himself, and
71:31he slowly just
71:40There is a momentum in your life right
71:42now
71:43that has been created by your habits,
71:46your tendencies, your daily rhythms,
71:49the things you do habitually. We call
71:51them They're really BIBLICAL
71:53STRONGHOLDS. STRONGHOLD IS A HOUSE BUILT
71:55OF THOUGHTS. A STRONGHOLD IS A
71:57SYSTEMATIC WAY OF LIFE. A stronghold is
71:59a pattern of life and a pattern of
72:01thinking.
72:03But a hedge So is a hedge.
72:07WE DON'T CALL THEM STRONGHOLDS WHEN
72:08THEY'RE PROBABLY WE CALL THEM A HEDGE.
72:10MY PATTERNS, MY HABITS, my rhythms of
72:13life can create something that creates
72:16momentum in my LIFE THAT IF I GET
72:18DISTRACTED OR DRIFT OFF ALONG THE WAY,
72:20IF I GET A LITTLE TIRED IN THE MIDDLE OF
72:22THE JOURNEY, THE MOMENTUM WILL CARRY ME
72:24IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
72:27Couple of years ago,
72:29uh I had a chiropractor that offered to
72:30work on me for free.
72:33And that's my love language.
72:35>> [snorts]
72:36>> I didn't even know if I needed any
72:37chiropractic, but I thought, "Well, it's
72:39free. I'll go get some."
72:41I go in there, he adjusts my hip, tells
72:43me this leg's a little shorter than that
72:44leg, and that's why I got back problems,
72:46all this stuff. So,
72:47I said, "All right, great." I go back A
72:48COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, BROTHER, AND
72:50HE DOES THE SAME EXACT ADJUSTMENT. I
72:52SAID, "ALL RIGHT, MAYBE I NEED A LITTLE
72:53EXTRA WORK." COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, SAME
72:55ADJUSTMENT, SAME ADJUSTMENT, SAME
72:56ADJUSTMENT. FINALLY, I TOLD HIM, I SAID,
72:57"DOCTOR, IT'S NOT WORKING."
73:00HE SAID, "YOU DON'T NEED TO UNDERSTAND
73:01THE WAY THIS WORKS." I SAID, "Evidently
73:02not. I'm just glad it's free."
73:07He said,
73:08"Your body HAS WHAT'S CALLED MUSCLE
73:09MEMORY."
73:11>> [snorts]
73:12>> HE SAID, "IF I JUST KEEP PUTTING IT BACK
73:13WHERE IT BELONGS,
73:15your muscles will catch on.
73:17Your brain waves and your synapses
73:19your synaptic pathways, your neural
73:21pathways, will kick in, AND IT'LL START
73:23TAKING CARE OF ITSELF. IF I JUST PUT IT
73:25BACK IN PLACE ENOUGH TIMES, AFTER A
73:27WHILE, YOUR BODY will catch on this is
73:29where it belongs, AND IT'LL HANDLE IT
73:31ITSELF."
73:34YOU GOT TO LIVE FOR GOD IN SUCH A WAY
73:36TILL YOUR BODY CATCHES ON.
73:38TILL YOUR BRAIN CATCHES ON. TILL YOUR
73:40EMOTIONS CATCH IN AND EVERYTHING STARTS
73:42LINING UP. SO, IF I WAKE UP ONE MORNING
73:45IN A DAZE, IN A BLUR, IN A SPIRITUAL
73:47COMA, AND I DON'T I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT
73:49TO DO WITH MY LIFE, MY PATTERNS, MY
73:51MUSCLE MEMORY GETS ME UP ON SUNDAY
73:54MORNING. MY MUSCLE MEMORY GETS ME IN THE
73:56CAR. I'M HURTING. I DON'T FEEL GOD. I'M
74:00NOT EXCITED ABOUT ANYTHING. BUT, MUSCLE
74:02MEMORY GETS ME TO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD.
74:04I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER DRIVING HERE. I
74:07DON'T FEEL LIKE WORSHIPING. I DON'T FEEL
74:08LIKE PRAYING. I don't feel like doing
74:10anything. AND YOU PLOP YOURSELF DOWN IN
74:12THE SEAT, AND HERE COME THE MUSICIANS.
74:14LET'S ALL STAND AND SING UNTO THE LORD.
74:16AND THEN THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW, BEFORE
74:18YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
74:20WHY? IT'S MUSCLE MEMORY.
74:23THIS IS JUST WHAT I DO. YOU DON'T WANT
74:25TO WAIT TO WORSHIP TILL YOU HAVE TO
74:27WORSHIP. YOU DON'T WANT TO LEARN TO PRAY
74:29WHEN YOU NEED TO PRAY. YOU WANT TO
74:30CREATE SOME MUSCLE MEMORY THAT WHEN YOU
74:33ARE IN THE MIDST OF A CATASTROPHE or a
74:34crisis OR TEMPTATION IS ABOUT TO SNATCH
74:37YOUR SOUL, SOMETHING KICKS IN AND YOU
74:40JUST AUTOMATICALLY INTUITIVELY FALL IN
74:43THE DIRECTION OF YOUR LEAN.
74:47WOO! [screaming]
74:48SO, GO AHEAD AND CLAP YOUR HANDS TO THE
74:50LORD. I FEEL

75:18mad at somebody else.
75:20WHAT IS THE AUTOMATIC RESPONSE YOU HAVE
75:22WHEN THERE'S A FAILURE, A
75:23DISAPPOINTMENT?
75:25That's your lean.
75:27You run to the world, you're going to
75:28cry another TEAR IN YOUR BEER?
75:33WHY is it that when people get
75:35discouraged or have a bad situation or
75:37they GET IN SOME WAY DISILLUSIONED, THE
75:39FIRST THING THEY DO IS RUN TO THE WORLD
75:40because they've been leaning THAT WAY
75:41LONG BEFORE THEY WENT THAT WAY.
75:45ALL IT TOOK WAS a
75:47When you're out here on the edge, you
75:48all better pray.
75:50When you're out here on the edge, it
75:52wouldn't take much.
75:54It wouldn't take much from here
75:56to push me over.
75:58But if I'm back here, they're going to
76:00have to do more than push me down.
76:01They're going to have to drag me.

76:13heaven and hell. No, I'm trying to get
76:15everything I can. I'M GIVING ALL MY
76:18HEART, SOUL, MIND, BODY, AND STRENGTH.
76:20THERE'S NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN MY
76:21SOUL. THERE'S NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT
76:24THAN MY ETERNITY. There's nothing more
76:26important than to get closer TO JESUS.
76:28I'M NOT JUST TRYING TO GET TO HEAVEN.
76:30I'M TRYING TO live a fulfilled,
76:33FRUITFUL, ABUNDANT LIFE ON MY WAY.

76:42WHEN I WAS TRAINING MY BOYS AND SHOWING
76:45them how to change a car tire, they'd be
76:47trying to loosen them lug nuts, PASTOR.
76:49THEY'RE JUST HAVING A STRUGGLE. I SAID,
76:50"COME ON, SON, LEAN into it." I mean,
76:53just put a little extra weight on it.
76:55Put a little OOMPH IN IT. COME ON, WE'RE
76:57NOT ABOUT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN THIS
76:59REVIVAL. I'M LOOKING FOR SOMEBODY
77:00HUNGRY. WHO'S OVER NO, I'M NOT GOING TO
77:03TELL YOU YOU'RE GOING TO HELL IF you
77:04don't come to church tonight, but I
77:05think you ought to be here and get
77:06strong in the Lord. I'm not telling you
77:07you're going to hell if you don't FAST
77:08AND PRAY, BUT I'M TELLING YOU YOU'RE
77:10GOING TO GET STRONG IN THE LORD. I'M
77:12TELLING you if you're not living THE
77:13LIFE, YOU'RE GOING TO BE OUT THERE ON
77:15THE EDGE, YOU'RE GOING TO BE EASY. It's
77:17going to You're not GOING TO HAVE ENOUGH
77:18STRENGTH. IF YOU FAIL IN THE DAY OF
77:20ADVERSITY, it's because your STRENGTH
77:21WAS SMALL. WHY NOT HAVE ENOUGH STRENGTH
77:24THAT CAN CARRY ME THROUGH THE valley and
77:26through THE DARKNESS AND OVER THE
77:28MOUNTAIN. AND IF SOMEBODY ELSE FALLS, I
77:30CAN REACH OVER AND PICK THEM UP. SAY,
77:32"COME ON, WE GOT YOU. LET'S GO. I'M
77:34STRONG ENOUGH."
77:37I WANT TO LIVE IN THE ABUNDANCE, NOT IN
77:38THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS, ASKING GOD FOR
77:41HIS MAXIMUM BENEFITS.
77:46LOT'S destiny was determined
77:49when he pitched his tent towards Sodom.
77:52Wasn't in Sodom.
77:54He just arranged his tent that way.
77:56And when I When my sons were growing up,
77:58I was always trying to use everything to
78:00train and prepare them for life and
78:02ministry. And
78:03we used to to by when I lived in St.
78:05Louis, we drive by everywhere we went,
78:06we drove by this exit said Kansas City.
78:09And uh
78:10I'd say, "Hey son, SEE THAT EXIT KANSAS
78:12CITY?
78:13YOU KNOW WHY WE'RE NOT GETTING OFF THAT
78:14EXIT?"
78:16"WHY, DAD?" "CUZ WE'RE NOT GOING TO
78:18KANSAS CITY."
78:19My mentoring is real deep.
78:23Fact of the matter is,
78:25you could get off that EXIT
78:28AND YOU'RE NOT anywhere near KANSAS
78:29CITY.
78:31KANSAS CITY'S 200 MI FROM ST. LOUIS.
78:34BUT I WAS TEACHING THEM, WHY START DOWN
78:37A ROAD
78:39IF YOU'RE NOT interested in getting to
78:41the destination it leads to?
78:44Be careful where you say amen, you may
78:46not like how I'm going to use this.
78:48I got next to a fellow on an airplane a
78:50while back. I got upgraded first class,
78:52I sitting up there next to a fellow, for
78:54whatever reason he wanted to talk.
78:56And we got to talking, and found out he
78:57is a deacon in his church, he found out
78:59I'm a minister.
79:00I uh when he found out I was a
79:02Pentecostal church minister, I guess he
79:03knew about us and how conservative we
79:05live and everything, and he proceeded to
79:07help me understand the way that, you
79:09know, he didn't think a lot of things
79:11mattered all this way and that way. And
79:12his big argument was that he keeps a
79:14bottle of bourbon in his cabinet, and
79:16he's had bourbon for 20 30 years, and
79:19you know, he's not an alcoholic, he's
79:21not burning He just don't think there's
79:22anything wrong with it.
79:24I said, "I hear you."
79:26I said, "You told ME YOU HAVE FOUR
79:27SONS." "YEAH, I HAVE FOUR SONS."
79:30I said, "You're a man of scripture and
79:33faith. You do know the Bible teaches a
79:35principle that wine is a mocker.
79:40It means it'll make you think you got it
79:43until you realize you don't."
79:46HE SAID, "OH, YEAH, YEAH." I said, "SO,
79:48YOU WOULD AGREE WITH ME
79:50THAT AT THE VERY LEAST
79:52AND AT THE VERY LEAST FOR SOME PEOPLE
79:55there is a danger
79:56that you think you're just going to have
79:58a little here and there
79:59and it's very easily taken too far. He
80:02said "Sure."
80:04I said, "Sounds like you've been able to
80:05steward that." He said, "I have."
80:07I said, "If you consider THE FACT THAT
80:08ONE OF YOUR FOUR SONS MAY NOT be like
80:10you?"
80:12And they get grown UP AND THEY HAVE
80:14PRESSURES AND THEY HAVE ISSUES AND THEY
80:15HAVE PROBLEMS?
80:18AND THEY NEED A LITTLE COMFORTING AND
80:19THEY SAY, "WELL, YOU KNOW, DAD ALWAYS
80:20KEPT SOME BOURBON. MAYBE I'LL GET ME
80:21SOME BOURBON."
80:23And maybe
80:25unlike you, THEY DON'T HAVE THE SAME
80:28DISCIPLINE or their genetics are
80:30different. AND THE THING THE BIBLE IS
80:32WARNING ABOUT THAT WINE HAS THIS HOOK IN
80:35IT THAT CAN TAKE YOU WAY SIN ALWAYS
80:37TAKES YOU FURTHER THAN YOU MEANT to go.
80:39IT ALWAYS KEEPS YOU LONGER THAN you
80:41meant TO STAY. IT ALWAYS COSTS YOU MORE
80:43THAN YOU THOUGHT YOU'D PAY. I ONLY MEANT
80:45TO GO THIS FAR, BUT IT COOKED AND TOOK
80:48YOU MUCH FURTHER. YOU START OUT SOCIAL
80:50DRINKING, PRETTY SOON YOU'RE HOME BY
80:52YOURSELF.
80:55HE SAID, "SURE." I SAID, "IS it worth
80:57the risk
80:59to even bring it into your home? IS IT
81:01WORTH THE RISK TO EVEN EXPOSE?" THAT'S
81:03WHAT THE WHOLE BIBLE WAS TRYING TO SAY
81:05TO US. IT'S NOT WORTH THE RISK. IT'S A
81:08SLIPPERY SLOPE. BECAUSE WE WERE HAVING A
81:11SINCERE CONVERSATION, HE SAID, "I'LL BE
81:13HONEST, I'VE NEVER CONSIDERED THAT." He
81:15said, "That is A VERY GOOD POINT. YOU'RE
81:17MAKING ME RETHINK my position."
81:21THAT'S WHAT I'M TRYING TO DO WITH YOU
81:22TODAY. I'M TRYING TO GET you to think
81:24about it.

81:27DO IT ONE TIME OR TWO TIMES AND GET AWAY
81:29WITH IT AND IT DOESN'T DESTROY

81:32LIKE CANCER? It'll just KEEP SPREADING
81:34AND SPREADING AND SPREADING AND
81:35SPREADING UNTIL THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW,
81:37YOU'RE SAYING, "I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS
81:38HAPPENED. I NEVER MEANT TO GET HERE.
81:40THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED TO BE. I
81:42WASN'T TRYING TO GET IN THIS CONDITION."
81:44NO, YOU JUST STARTED ALLOWING LITTLE
81:46THINGS THAT LITTLE BY LITTLE BY LITTLE
81:48BY LITTLE TOOK YOU A LOT FURTHER THAN
81:51YOU EVER MEANT it to go.
81:54Oh God, help us here today, I pray.
81:57I I I'll tell you this and then I'll
81:59close.
82:01When my son got dating age, it's many
82:03years ago. He's 30 33 now, but as a
82:06matter of fact, he just graduated
82:07yesterday with his doctorate. We're very
82:09proud of that.
82:12But he got to that dating age and so uh
82:15I decided to have the talk.
82:20He's sitting across the table from me.
82:21We His name is Zach. We call him
82:22Zachopedia.
82:24Because he's so smart, you know.
82:26And uh I'm explaining to him he had a
82:28girlfriend at the time had her own
82:29apartment. I'm laying out him all the
82:31boundaries and all the things. I said I
82:33I said, "Let me make it clear to you. If
82:34her apartment catches on fire,
82:37one of you runs in to get stuff, the
82:40other one waits outside.
82:43You're never in there alone together."
82:46My intellectual son,
82:49with all common sense, looks at me and
82:51says, "Dad, don't worry.
82:55I have no intention of falling into that
82:58sin."
83:00I said, "Son, if I thought you had
83:02intentions, we'd be having a different
83:04conversation.
83:06This conversation is for the thing you
83:08have absolutely no intention of doing,
83:11but if you don't SET SOME BOUNDARIES
83:13THAT WILL PROTECT YOURSELF from
83:14yourself, you'll be sitting over there
83:16looking AT ME SAYING, 'DAD, I DON'T KNOW
83:17WHAT HAPPENED.'
83:19I never meant for this. I never intended
83:22this.' No, you just allowed THINGS THAT
83:24SEEMED LIKE THEY DIDN'T MATTER into your
83:26life,
83:29AND THEY TOOK YOU TO PLACES YOU NEVER
83:30MEANT to go.
83:32So Lot's got his tent out on the
83:34hillside. HE'S NOT IN SODOM, but every
83:37night before he goes to bed, the last
83:38things he sees are the lights of Sodom.
83:41Every morning when he goes out, the
83:42first thing he sees is the busy streets
83:44of Sodom. He's not in Sodom, but it's
83:47all that HE HAS TO SEE DAY IN and day
83:49out and day in and day out. It's this
83:51continual exposure.
83:53Till finally, I guess he had to go down
83:55AND GET SOME SUPPLIES. GOES INTO SODOM,
83:57PICKS SOME stuff up down at the CORNER
83:58GROCER. HE'S BACK OUT ON THE HILLSIDE
84:00for maybe weeks, maybe months. Back down
84:02to the city, pick up some more things.
84:04Pretty soon, he's decided his favorite
84:06grocer down on the corner. HE SAID,
84:07"HEY, MR. LOT, HOW ARE YOU TODAY? Doing
84:09good. Save me any of them melons?"
84:11"MATTER OF FACT, I SET A FEW BACK FOR
84:12YOU. HERE, WHAT DO YOU THINK of these?"
84:14And now they know each other. And few
84:16more weeks or months, whatever. ONE DAY,
84:17HE SAID, "MR. LOT, LITTLE QUESTION FOR
84:19YOU. I KNOW YOU LIVE OUT ON THE
84:21HILLSIDE. I see YOUR TENT AND ALL, BUT
84:23BUT LOOK DOWN THIS STREET RIGHT THERE.
84:24YOU SEE THAT LAST BUILDING ON THE
84:25CORNER? THE THIRD YOU SEE THAT RIGHT
84:27THERE? THAT I OWN THAT. AND THOSE FOLKS
84:29JUST MOVED OUT. IF YOU'D BE INTERESTED,
84:31I could work you a real good deal, and
84:33you could enjoy the convenience of the
84:35city."
84:37Well, why not? I'm being blessed. Are
84:39you?
84:41Are you being blessed for an advantage?
84:44For a convenience?
84:46For a better living condition?
84:48In a place God's about to judge?
84:52IN A PLACE THAT'S ABOUT TO BE DESTROYED?
84:55Wouldn't you be better sleeping on the
84:56floor out in the tent
84:58than in a comfy bed in the third story
85:00building that's about to be destroyed?
85:03Next thing you know, he's in Sodom, and
85:05that was the whole problem. It was that
85:07God was about to destroy Sodom, and his
85:10minor little lifestyle changes
85:13positioned him in a place of God's
85:16judgment.
85:18God, help us today.
85:21Leaning.
85:22I don't question where you stand, or
85:24especially our organ player. I love that
85:26organ music. If our musicians can come,
85:28and our organ player especially can
85:30come.
85:31I'm not questioning where you stand.
85:33You obviously have faith in Jesus. You
85:36obviously love the Lord. You wouldn't be
85:38here in church if you didn't have some
85:39desire to be a Christian, live for God.
85:43Now, I will tell you, as I've observed
85:44you coming in and going out, I can see a
85:45lot of you are either new or just trying
85:48to get your way going.
85:50That's good.
85:52Lean in.
85:54DON'T TRY TO DON'T TRY TO JUST be a
85:55casual Christian. Be an all-in
85:57Christian.
85:58Get Get more than you need to barely
86:01survive.
86:02WE OVERINDULGE IN EVERY AREA OF LIFE.
86:05WHY NOT IN GOD?
86:09WHY NOT GET MORE THAN IS ABSOLUTELY
86:11NECESSARY? WHY NOT DO MORE? YOU'LL BE
86:13STRONGER AND you'll be happier
86:16if you'll live that way.
86:19I'm not questioning where you stand,
86:21but I am asking you,
86:23which way are you leaning?
86:25Where are your habits? Where are your
86:26thoughts? Where are your rhythms? What
86:29things do you do by habits? What things
86:31have you allowed to creep in into your
86:33life that have become a way of life, a
86:35stronghold, a systematic way of
86:37thinking, a house built of thoughts, or
86:39a hedge, a systematic way of thinking, a
86:42house built of thoughts?
86:44It's the same thing. It's just one
86:45protects me and the other one
86:48can destroy me. If my habits are habits
86:50that take me to the house of God, that
86:52keep me coming back, that keep me
86:53praying, they'll carry me when I'm not
86:55thinking right, when I'm going My my
86:57When my stepfather died, he passed away
86:59so abruptly, so unexpectedly, a massive
87:01heart attack. My mother went into such a
87:03trauma. I said, "Mom, just get to
87:05church." She said, "I can't go to
87:06church. I can't pray. I don't feel
87:07nothing. I can't worship." I said,
87:09"Don't do anything. Just go sit."
87:11That's a crazy thing for a preacher to
87:13tell somebody. Just go sit.
87:15But you know why I told her that? Cuz I
87:17know my mama.
87:18And I knew if I could just get her in
87:20the house, no matter how traumatized she
87:22was, no matter how much grief she felt,
87:24no matter how hurting she was, she
87:26couldn't understand why this happened,
87:27why God allowed it to happen. She
87:28couldn't figure none of it out. And And
87:30she was So it was paralyzing her
87:32worship. She's sitting there on the
87:33ledge, but all her life she's been
87:35leaning in. And I think she might fall,
87:37but if she falls, she's got to fall in.
87:40And I said, "Mama, just get there." Cuz
87:42I knew if she could just get in the
87:43presence of the Lord, when they started
87:45one of them songs, she might be sitting
87:47there saying, "I don't feel nothing. I
87:48don't know nothing. I can't I can't
87:49experience nothing." But when the song
87:51started,
87:53because it's just all I've ever done.
87:55This is all I know. This is just who I
87:57am. I got MUSCLE MEMORY. MUSCLE MEMORY
87:59will bring you to an altar. Muscle
88:01memory will take you to that church.
88:02Muscle memory will keep you going back
88:04to the scripture.
88:06>> [snorts]

88:08Give me a little mood music.
88:10One time I my wife and I were going
88:12through a very very very very very very
88:13very very very very very very very very
88:15very very very difficult situation.
88:18And uh
88:19I looked over at my wife. She was
88:21sitting on the sofa on the end of the
88:23sofa by the end table. And she had her
88:24Bible open in her lap. But I noticed I
88:26kept coming back and forth and she
88:27wasn't reading it. She was just sitting
88:28there with it open.
88:30And finally, being the loving, kind,
88:31understanding husband that I am,
88:33I said, "Baby, if you're not going to
88:34read the Bible, why don't you just lay
88:35it on the end table?"
88:37She says, "WE NEED GOD.
88:40AND I WANT HIM TO SEE ME WITH MY BIBLE."
88:45AND THEN AGAIN, BEING the kind,
88:46understanding, and thoughtful husband
88:47that I am, I said, "He knows if you're
88:49reading it or not."
88:53When I walked away, the Lord spoke to
88:54me.
88:55Leave her alone.
88:58She may not know the answer to what
89:00you're in,
89:02but she knows it's in there somewhere.

89:10I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE WORD IS THAT'S

89:15WHOLE BIBLE, CUZ I KNOW WHAT I NEED IS
89:17THERE SOMEWHERE. And so, I want the Lord
89:19to at least see I don't know what to
89:22believe. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO HAVE FAITH
89:24FOR. I DON'T [music] HAVE AN ANSWER. BUT
89:26I WANT YOU TO LOOK DOWN AND SEE ME WITH
89:28MY BIBLE, BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO KNOW I
89:31DO have faith that it's IN HERE
89:32SOMEWHERE, AND YOU'LL LEAD ME TO it
89:34eventually.
89:37What do we develop SUCH AN ATTITUDE THAT
89:39SAYS, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON OR
89:40WHY I'M HERE, but I want THE LORD TO SEE
89:42MY WORSHIP."
89:44I WANT THE LORD to see me in the altar
89:47BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I DON'T KNOW WHAT
89:48THE ANSWER IS or what to do next, I just
89:50KNOW IT'S HERE SOMEWHERE AND IF THE LORD
89:52SEES me reaching for him, he's going to
89:55reach for me. Would you stand with me
89:57all ACROSS THE [music] HOUSE?

90:00>> MY older brother has been career
90:02military his whole life. He recently
90:04retired.
90:05He heard me talking this language a
90:07little bit. He said, "You know, bro, in
90:08the military we said we'll be milling
90:10around doing whatever." He said, "The
90:11captain or the sergeant OR SOMEBODY
90:13YELL, [music] 'FALL IN!'"
90:15AND HE SAID, "WELL, WE GOT TO GET ONLINE
90:16for instructions, for assignments."
90:21It occurred to me, pastor, that every
90:22altar calls a fall in moment.
90:25Every revival's a fall in moment.
90:28If you're falling, you'd be far better
90:29off to fall in than to fall out.
90:32FALL TO THE ALTAR. FALL TO THE GRACE.
90:34SO, YOU MIGHT BE A LITTLE EMBARRASSED.
90:35SO, YOU MIGHT BE A LITTLE ASHAMED OF
90:36SOME THINGS YOU'VE DONE. SO, YOU MAY NOT
90:38BE HAPPY THAT WE KNOW A LITTLE BUSINESS
90:39THAT YOU DID IN YOUR LIFE. Aren't you
90:41better off to deal with the little
90:42indignity you might feel, little
90:43embarrassment of the way you behaved
90:45than to fall out into the addictions of
90:47this world? At least there's some grace
90:49here. There's some mercy here. THERE'S
90:51SOME LOVE HERE. THERE'S SOME HELP HERE.
90:53Go ahead and fall into the everlasting
90:55arms of the Lord.

91:15going to worship. The atmosphere's about
91:16TO LIGHT UP. AMEN. WOULDN'T it be better
91:19even if you ARE TROUBLED ON EVERY SIDE,
91:21BUT YOU'RE NOT distressed cuz you're
91:23leaning on Jesus. I'm perplexed, but I'm
91:25not in despair. Why? I'm leaning on
91:27Jesus. I'm persecuted, BUT NOT FORSAKEN.
91:29WHY? I'M LEANING ON JESUS. I'M CAST DOWN
91:32BUT I'M NOT DESTROYED. WHY? I'M LEANING
91:34ON JESUS. I'M FALLING BUT I'M FALLING IN
91:37TO THE EVERLASTING ARMS. SOMEBODY HANDS
91:39UP, HEART LIFTED, VOICE RAISED. THAT'S
91:42HOW YOU LEAN. COME ON, PUT A LITTLE
91:44WEIGHT INTO IT. LEAN INTO YOUR WORSHIP.
91:46LEAN INTO YOUR PRAYER. LEAN INTO YOUR
91:49WALK WITH GOD. LEAN INTO YOUR
91:51FAITHFULNESS. Lean into your anointing.
