Summary
In this Bible Study, the speaker explores how righteousness is the foundation for 'guaranteed peace' and joy in the believer's life. By hungering for God and leaning on His righteousness rather than our own, we find a quiet resting place that protects our hearts and minds from the chronic stress and anxiety of the world.
Key points
- •Righteousness is the product of justification (being born again) and results in peace and joy.
- •Peace is not just a feeling; it is the condition of broken pieces being rejoined into wholeness.
- •The peace of God acts as an 'umpire' (Colossians 3:15), governing our hearts and making the 'calls' on what is right and wrong.
- •God is not a respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of hunger; those who hunger and thirst for righteousness are guaranteed to be filled.
- •Isaiah 32:17 reveals that the 'work' or product of righteousness is quietness and assurance forever.

Life application
This week, when you feel the waves of anxiety or stress (which typically last 15-20 minutes), consciously 'lean' your mind on the Lord and ask His peace to act as an umpire over your thoughts. Trust that His righteousness has already made you innocent in His sight, and choose to rest in that identity rather than your past mistakes.
Reflection questions
- How does viewing peace as 'rejoined broken pieces' change how you think about your past?
- In what areas of your life do you need God's peace to act as an 'umpire' and make the final call?
- The speaker noted that joy is sequential to peace and righteousness; how have you seen this order play out in your own life?
- What 'spiritual munchies' are distracting you from a true, deep hunger for God's righteousness?

0:00about tonight. Matthew chapter 5 verse
0:006.
0:00Matthew 5 and 6 says, "Blessed are those
0:03who hunger and thirst for righteousness
0:06for they shall be filled."
0:09So, if you hunger and thirst for
0:11righteousness, Jesus said you're going
0:12to be what?
0:14Filled. It's a guarantee.
0:17Isaiah chapter 32 verses 17 and [music]
0:1918.
0:22What I'm going to talk about tonight
0:24is [music] really really important for
0:28every person, for all of us.
0:31And um
0:33in order to be able to make it through
0:35in these last days, this is something we
0:37got to have. It's something there for
0:40us. We just need to walk in it. Isaiah
0:4332 [music] and 17. I want you to take
0:45note of what Isaiah says
0:48in verse 17, "The work of righteousness"
0:51Everybody say, "The work of
0:52righteousness"
0:55"will be peace."
0:57"And the effect of righteousness
1:01quietness and assurance forever."
1:06So, the work I'll tell you this later,
1:07but the work the word work there means
1:09product.
1:11So, the product of righteousness is
1:13peace.
1:15And the effect of righteousness is a
1:17quietness. It's an assurance
1:20that Isaiah [music] said is forever.
1:23And God says, "My people" Everybody say,
1:25"My people." That's me.
1:28"My people will dwell in a peaceful
1:30habitation,
1:32in secure dwellings,
1:35>> [music]
1:35>> and in quiet
1:37resting places."
1:40Reminds me of Psalms 91.
1:43"He that dwelleth [music] in the secret
1:45place of the most high
1:47shall abide under the shadow of the
1:50almighty." How many want to dwell in
1:52that secret quiet resting place?
1:58So, tonight I want to talk to you about
2:00guaranteed
2:03peace.
2:04This is a guarantee.
2:06Don't you like guarantees?
2:09Well, this is a guarantee right here.
2:11Father we
2:13love you, and your presence [music]
2:14is evident here tonight.
2:17And we open our hearts,
2:19our minds to your word. That you would
2:22speak to us.
2:24For those who are dealing with stress,
2:27anxiety,
2:29fear,
2:30>> [music]
2:30>> anger,
2:31the whole gamut of emotions.
2:34I pray that we would receive some
2:36revelation
2:38of a place in you that we can walk, that
2:41in spite of what we face, knowing that
2:44we can still have your guaranteed
2:46[music]
2:48peace. In Jesus' name, everybody say
2:50amen.
2:52God bless you. May be seated.
2:57Some
2:58statistics that I recently read from the
3:01American Psychological Association
3:04said that chronic stress, anger,
3:07and anxiety are significantly impacting
3:11the physical health in the United States
3:15with approximately, check this out,
3:17approximately 75%
3:20to 83%
3:22of Americans reporting at least one
3:25physical symptom of stress
3:282025 2026.
3:32And
3:33those
3:34emotions of anxiety and fear and anger
3:38and the stress we live in
3:40in our bodies, I don't have time to go
3:42into this tonight, but they trigger what
3:44is known as a fight or flight response.
3:48And when that happens in your body,
3:52there is a flood of adrenaline that is
3:55released as well as cortisol, which
3:58leads to some physical um
4:01consequences.
4:03Cardiovascular strain is one
4:06where heart rate and your blood pressure
4:08immediately increase.
4:10Uh it affects your muscle system
4:13and your musculoskeletal
4:15pain. Try to say that fast.
4:18Which is constant muscle tension, often
4:21resulting in frequent headaches,
4:23clenching of the jaw, chronic back pain,
4:26also digestive issues, as well as sleep
4:28deprivation
4:30because of stress and these emotions.
4:34Which I want to tell you that God does
4:36not intend for you to live in that in
4:39that way or that kind of a life.
4:43According to Forbes magazine,
4:45there's an article that states that the
4:47top five things that, and I quote,
4:50"People desperately desire but can't
4:53seem to attain." And included in there
4:56with happiness and money and freedom was
4:59also joy
5:01and
5:03peace.
5:05So, tonight we're taking a look at how
5:08to get to peace
5:11that everybody wants to have access to.
5:14And you do have access to it.
5:17And it is not something you just have to
5:20ask for. You just walk in the spirit and
5:23walk in the dimension. Now, this first
5:25step to wholeness that I'm talking about
5:27tonight starts whenever we are
5:30justified. When we are born again How
5:32many's thankful to be born again of the
5:34water and the spirit? Would you say
5:35amen?
5:36That we can repent of our sins and be
5:38baptized in Jesus' name for the
5:41forgiveness of those sins and receive
5:42the gift of the Holy Ghost. And that
5:45process of being born again is what we
5:47call justification.
5:49Everybody say justification.
5:52And so, that's the first step to
5:53wholeness. It's justification
5:56and to righteousness because
5:58justification is the process being born
6:01again and of the water and of the
6:03spirit. That's the process. The product
6:05of that is righteousness because when we
6:08are born again of the water and the
6:10spirit, we are justified.
6:12We are now seen as righteous or innocent
6:15in the sight of God.
6:17Because Paul said this, that when we're
6:19baptized into Christ, we put on Christ.
6:23Therefore, his righteousness becomes our
6:27righteousness. And so, because of that,
6:29righteousness is the product of being
6:32justified. I'm thankful for that.
6:34Now, Jesus said in Matthew chapter 5
6:37verse 6, "Blessed are those who hunger
6:39and thirst for righteousness, for they
6:41shall be
6:44shall be filled."
6:46Everybody say spiritual hunger.
6:49Now, that word hunger means to crave
6:53ardently or to be famished, to seek with
6:57eager desire. He's not Jesus wasn't
6:59talking about just having the munchies,
7:02spiritual munchies if you will, like uh
7:04Anybody ever open a box of Pringle or a
7:06can of Pringles? Like Pringles?
7:09Can anybody ever just eat one?
7:12I thought about bringing a can up here
7:13tonight, but I didn't.
7:15>> [clears throat]
7:15>> Because you can never stop at one.
7:16Usually, about four going in my mouth at
7:18the same time.
7:20But we're not talking about the
7:21munchies. We're talking about a hunger
7:25for his righteousness. So that we walk
7:29in his righteousness.
7:31And I want to tell you that if you want
7:33to get the attention of God, be hungry
7:36and thirsting after him, because you
7:38definitely will get his attention.
7:40And because of that, let me tell you,
7:43God is not a respecter of persons.
7:45That's what Romans 2 tells us.
7:47He said there there is no respecter of
7:49persons with God. The New King James
7:51says there's no partiality with God. I
7:54heard uh Chester Wright from Maryland
7:56say this. He said, "God is not a
7:58respecter of persons. He is a respecter
8:01of hunger."
8:04That's what captures his attention.
8:07That's what gets you and I in a position
8:10for the things that he wants to give to
8:11you and I. And so when we hunger after
8:14him and we thirst after him, we're going
8:17to walk into dimensions and areas that
8:20he has designed for you and I.
8:23John Jesus said in John chapter 6, he
8:26said they said to Jesus, "Lord, give us
8:29this bread." In verse 34,
8:31and Jesus said, "I am the bread of life.
8:34He who comes to me shall never hunger,
8:37and he who believes in me shall never
8:38thirst." So Jesus is what we are
8:42hungering and thirsting for.
8:44And so we want to seek after that. It
8:46reminds me of what David said in the
8:4863rd Psalm, "Oh God, you are thou art my
8:53God, and early will I seek thee. My soul
8:56thirsts for you. My flesh longs for you
8:59in a dry and thirsty land where there is
9:01no water." The amplified says, "My inner
9:04self thirsts for you. My flesh longs for
9:08you." He said in Psalms 42, most of us
9:11could quote it, "As the deer pants for
9:14the water brooks, so pants my soul for
9:17you, oh God. My soul thirsts for God,
9:20for the living God. When shall I come
9:22and appear before God?" We're I'm
9:24talking about here tonight working up a
9:27good couple years ago I did a
9:30series on working up a good appetite.
9:33And that's what I'm talking about right
9:35here is hungering and thirsting after
9:38his righteousness.
9:41Because again,
9:43he's not a respecter of persons.
9:45He's a respecter of hunger.
9:47That's what captures, it garners his
9:50attention.
9:52And he commands us, Matthew chapter 6
9:55verse 33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of
9:59God and his
10:03righteousness." Everybody say
10:04righteousness.
10:06And all these things shall be added to
10:09you.
10:10He says, "Seek first the kingdom and his
10:12righteousness, and all these things
10:14shall be added unto you." Notice, there
10:17is an outcome
10:19of this seeking after his righteousness.
10:23Cuz you go down to the very next verse,
10:25verse 34, he says, "Therefore," or in
10:29other words, "Because of what I just
10:31told you, seek first the kingdom of God.
10:35Seek his righteousness. These things
10:38shall be added unto you." In other
10:39words, what I've been telling you about
10:41that I'm going to give you and take care
10:43of you, if you seek my righteousness, he
10:46says in verse 34, "Therefore, because of
10:49what I said, do not worry about
10:52tomorrow. For tomorrow will worry about
10:54its own things. Sufficient for the day
10:57is its own trouble." The Amplified says,
11:00"Do not worry or be anxious about
11:03tomorrow." And I love the Message Bible
11:05in Matthew chapter 6 verse 34, when
11:08Jesus says, "Give your entire attention
11:11to what God is doing right now, and
11:15don't get worked up about what are may
11:17not happen tomorrow. God will help you
11:20deal with whatever hard things come up
11:23when the time comes." I'm telling all of
11:25us tonight, I'm reminding all of us
11:28tonight, we do not have to worry, we do
11:31not have to fear, we just walk after him
11:34and his righteousness. If anything comes
11:36your way that's difficult, when the time
11:38comes, he will help you deal with that
11:41situation.
11:43And how many has found that to be true
11:44in your own life? Would you say amen?
11:47Amen.
11:49And so, hungering and thirsting after
11:52righteousness gives us something that's
11:55guaranteed.
11:57It results in something that's
11:59guaranteed, and it is this.
12:02It is a guarantee of his
12:05peace.
12:09John chapter 14, Jesus said, "Peace I
12:11leave
12:12with you. My peace I give to you. Not as
12:17the world gives do I give to you." He
12:19said, "Let not your heart be troubled
12:21and neither let it be afraid." He said,
12:24"I've got peace for you." That word
12:26peace means quietness.
12:29It means rest. Matter of fact, my wife
12:33who she's now a certified life coach and
12:36a continuing down that vein and in our
12:39last uh small group season she talked
12:43about rest. Uh she's got two candlestick
12:46items at least going on right now and
12:48that is helping women who are dealing
12:50with perimenopause, menopause,
12:51postmenopause. I'm not going to ask
12:53anybody to raise any hands on that, but
12:55we pretty much know what we're talking
12:56about there.
12:58But also she was talking about rest
13:01because as we get older we understand
13:03I'm not just talking about sleep.
13:05Thank God for sleep. But I'm not just
13:07talking about that. I'm talking about a
13:09place
13:10in God where you are able to rest.
13:15You are quiet. That's what peace means
13:18literally here, quietness.
13:20In matter of fact, in the Old Testament
13:21the equivalent word for this is shalom,
13:24which means wholeness. Everybody say
13:26wholeness.
13:28Peace means brother have a
13:30wholeness.
13:32It means soundness.
13:35Now,
13:36the root word for peace here is a Greek
13:39word that means to join.
13:42So, this is important because the
13:45implication is it implies that where
13:48there is a preexisting
13:51brokenness.
13:53But whenever there is peace, there is a
13:55joining together, which is peace means
13:59it's the condition of having broken
14:02pieces rejoined together. And that
14:06wholeness is the product of restoration
14:09that we find in the scripture. When we
14:12are at peace with him, there is a
14:15wholeness that we have because he has
14:18put our life back together and we walk
14:21and we live in this peace that only
14:23comes from him. And this wholeness or
14:26peace that I'm talking about tonight is
14:29a result or a work of righteousness
14:33that's been
14:35taken place in your life or being made
14:37at peace with your past. It means you
14:39have been healed and in the sight of
14:41God, you are declared innocent and
14:44because of that, you walk in his peace
14:48he has for you.
14:52We need to thank God for that.
14:55We need to thank you for that.
14:58And I'm here tonight to tell somebody's
15:01plural that God has a place in him, a
15:05dimension of peace that he is calling
15:08you and he wants you to walk in and live
15:12in and be active in, so you don't have
15:14to be stressed. You don't have to be
15:16angry. You don't have to be anxious
15:19because he has peace FOR YOU.
15:21AND FOR ME.
15:25Isaiah 26 says, You will keep him in
15:30perfect peace. Everybody say perfect
15:32peace.
15:33Whose mind is stayed on you because he
15:36trusts in you.
15:39Now he's his mind stayed at word
15:42um
15:43to stay on means to lean on.
15:47And so he said that
15:50you will he will keep you. I'm going to
15:52keep you and you can see that I'll give
15:54you that definition. It means to guard
15:57in a good sense. It means to protect.
15:58So, whenever our minds are stayed up on
16:01him, there we're leaning upon him,
16:04that's because our trust is in him. When
16:06my trust is in him and I lean upon him,
16:09my mind is stayed upon him, he said,
16:11"I'm going to protect you in my perfect
16:14peace."
16:18And I trust him because
16:21this is the key here in the relationship
16:23that we have and that is because I love
16:26him and I know that he loves me.
16:30You've heard me, matter of fact, several
16:31scriptures tonight that I'll be talking
16:33about that you will have heard before,
16:35but in 1 John, when John it's the same
16:37chapter where he says, "Perfect love
16:40cast out
16:42fear. Perfect love, mature love, cast
16:45out fear." And then in the same chapter,
16:47that's where John says that God is
16:50love.
16:52And then John says in that same chapter,
16:54I think it's 1 or 2.
16:561 John chapter 1 or 2, I can't remember.
16:59Anyway,
17:00he says, "Herein is our love made
17:05perfect." Perfect doesn't mean without
17:07flaws, it means mature. Herein is our
17:11love made perfect that we may have
17:14boldness, brother Murray. Now, this is a
17:15head scratcher for a lot because when he
17:18says that we may have boldness in the
17:20day of judgment.
17:23Let that sink in.
17:24Boldness when?
17:27In the day of what?
17:29Judgment.
17:31Man,
17:32there's there's a lot of people don't
17:34have much boldness about judgment day.
17:36We're scared of that day.
17:38When the fact is
17:40that your heavenly father does not want
17:43you fearing that day.
17:45And he said, "Herein our love is
17:47perfected now
17:49that we'll have boldness in the day of
17:51judgment."
17:53That word judgment comes from a word
17:56it's pronounced krisis,
17:58which is where we get the word
18:00take a guess.
18:01Crisis.
18:04And so, I make the
18:07I make the suggestion that God allows us
18:10to go through crisis situations. I don't
18:12believe he makes it happen, but he
18:15allows it because as he helps us to get
18:18through that, we learn we can truly
18:20trust him. How many's found that to be
18:22true in your own life?
18:24I can trust him. And I can trust him
18:27because he's brought me through my own
18:29crisis situations. He's brought me
18:32through my own situations of stress. And
18:35during those times, it's like Paul said,
18:37"That I might know him in the power of
18:40his resurrection and even the fellowship
18:42of his suffering." Being made uh
18:45conformable unto his death. Paul was
18:46saying that I don't want to just know
18:48him in the power of a resurrection, but
18:50I want to know him. The word know him
18:52means
18:53uh
18:54it means to commune. It means to be have
18:56an intimate connection. It means to be a
18:59partner. Greek word's koinonia. That I
19:01may know him in the fellowship koinonia
19:04of his suffering. It's when we go
19:06through difficult times that we discover
19:09our relationship with him in ways that
19:12we would never know him if we hadn't
19:13gone through those times. And it's in
19:16those times that that my relationship IS
19:19ESTABLISHED THAT I TRUST HIM BECAUSE I
19:21know that he loves me and he will take
19:24care of me. And it is the Father's good
19:27pleasure to give us the kingdom.
19:30We can trust him.
19:32And when I can trust him, then I lean
19:35upon him. And Isaiah said, "When you do
19:38that, I'm going to guard, protect, keep
19:41you in my perfect peace.
19:45That's awesome.
19:49Paul's talking to the church in the book
19:50of Rome.
19:52Paul's talking to the church in Rome in
19:53the book of Romans.
19:56Romans chapter 3.
19:58And now when Paul
20:01makes this statement, he's actually
20:04quoting Isaiah in Isaiah 59. Romans 3,
20:08Paul says,
20:10"And the way of peace they have not
20:12known.
20:13There's no fear of God before their
20:15eyes."
20:17Amplify says there's they have no
20:18experience in the way of peace. They
20:20know nothing about peace.
20:23He's quoting Isaiah 59,
20:25which is where uh
20:28you'll recognize these verses here
20:29shortly. In Isaiah 59 verses 7 and 8,
20:33their feet run to evil, they make haste
20:35to shed innocent blood, their thoughts
20:37are on thoughts of iniquity, wasting
20:40destruction are in their path. The way
20:42of peace they have not known. And there
20:46is no justice in their ways. They made
20:49themselves crooked paths. Whoever takes
20:51that way shall not know peace. He is
20:54describing a day that's very much like
20:57the day we're living in right now.
21:01And so, what's God's response to that?
21:05Verse 16, he saw there was no man and
21:09wondered there was no intercessor. And
21:11therefore his arm brought salvation and
21:13his righteousness it sustained him. God
21:17was looking for an intercessor during
21:19those days when they were running feet
21:23uh that they were uh made haste to shed
21:25innocent blood, feet that run to evil,
21:27thoughts and uh their thoughts are
21:29thoughts of iniquity. They were wasting
21:31and destruction was in their path. They
21:33didn't know the way of peace.
21:35And so God, I wonder verse 16, I wonder
21:37why there's no intercessor. We need
21:40somebody that will intercede. I'm going
21:41to tell you folks, we need to be
21:42involved in intercessory prayer here in
21:45these last days because God has a work
21:47that he just wants to do, but it's going
21:49to come through those who pray.
21:52And because of that,
21:53therefore his arm brought salvation unto
21:55him, and his righteousness is
21:58sustaining, but I want you to take note
21:59of verse 17. Because in verse 17, he
22:03says, "For he put on righteousness as a
22:07breastplate
22:09and an helmet of salvation upon his
22:11head." Does this sound familiar to
22:13anybody?
22:14A breastplate of righteousness and a
22:16helmet of salvation. He was putting on
22:19the armor. When you and I put on the
22:22armor of God, that's the exact armor
22:24that God is putting on in Isaiah chapter
22:2659.
22:28It is his righteousness. It's his
22:30breastplate of righteousness that we you
22:32and I put on. You see, but the thing is,
22:35his righteousness is the scripture tells
22:38us in um
22:41well, in Isaiah 61, he's covered me with
22:44the robe of righteousness. But
22:46righteousness, yes, it's a robe for or a
22:49covering, but also it is a breastplate.
22:51It is a protection.
22:53God's protection for you is his
22:56righteousness that when we put on his
22:58armor, it is a covering of
23:00righteousness, which is exactly why Paul
23:03says in Ephesians chapter 6, "Stand
23:05therefore, having your loins girt about
23:07with truth, and having on the" Say it
23:10with me. "The
23:13breastplate of righteousness."
23:17Now, a breastplate,
23:19it covers
23:20uh the chest cavity and the vital organs
23:24in your chest. It protects you.
23:27And that is the word picture that Paul
23:30uses when he's talking about putting on
23:32this breastplate of righteousness
23:34because that is what protects us.
23:38Now, I want you to note that this
23:40covering of righteousness is what leads
23:43us to the peace, which is my point that
23:46I'm talking to us all here tonight in
23:48the Philippians 4. This is after Paul
23:51has talked about
23:52"Think on these things. Whatsoever is
23:54true, whatsoever is lovely." It's in
23:55that chapter. He says in verse 7, "And
23:58the peace of God, which passes all
24:00understanding, shall keep your
24:04hearts and
24:06minds through Christ Jesus." Number one,
24:10this peace comes from what?
24:13God.
24:15The peace of God, which passes all
24:18understanding, shall keep your hearts
24:20and minds. His peace, listen, this is
24:23why this peace
24:24peace, p i e c e, is so important.
24:29Because it's the peace of God that
24:31protects your heart
24:33and it protects your mind.
24:36And if I'm not walking in his peace and
24:39I'm not living in his peace, then I'm
24:42not protected.
24:44Because that, with the sausage, is what
24:46protects our hearts,
24:48protects our minds through Christ Jesus.
24:52And God has designed this and it's for
24:54you.
24:55And it is for me.
24:58That you don't have to give in to
24:59temptation.
25:02Because his peace protects us. This is
25:04why Paul said in Colossians chapter 3,
25:06verse 15, "Let the peace of God"
25:08Everybody say, "The peace of God
25:11rule in your hearts."
25:14That word rule there means to govern.
25:17It means to arbitrate, to control, but
25:20it also means to be an umpire.
25:23The peace of God is to be an umpire in
25:25our life.
25:27The peace of God says, "That's That's
25:29fair. That's foul. That's safe. You're
25:32out. That's wrong. That's right." That's
25:34This is why we're to be led by the
25:36spirit of God because it is his peace
25:39that makes the calls calls the balls and
25:41strikes in our life.
25:44And when I am walking in his peace, I'm
25:46not going to give in to temptation
25:48because his peace is ruling in my heart.
25:52It's his peace, the peace of God, that
25:54is governing my heart. The amplified
25:57says, "Let the peace, the soul harmony
25:59which comes from Christ, rule or act as
26:02umpire continually in your hearts,
26:04deciding and settling with all finality
26:07all questions that arise in your minds
26:09in that peaceful state."
26:12Does that make sense to everybody?
26:14So,
26:16if it's peace
26:17that guards my heart
26:20and keeps my mind, then why does it seem
26:24to be so elusive?
26:27Why does it seem to be so hard? I'll
26:30tell you, peace is a result of
26:33righteousness.
26:35It's a result of righteousness.
26:38And
26:41this wholeness is a result or work of
26:45righteousness
26:47or being made at peace with your past.
26:52Being healed.
26:55Being declared
26:57innocent.
27:00Cuz so many people deal with shame
27:03of the past.
27:05And I want to remind you here tonight
27:07that things that you've done in your
27:08past do not define you.
27:11Those were events that happened, but
27:13they're not your identity.
27:15Because [snorts] when you and I were
27:16born again, I'm going to say it again,
27:18when you and I were born again of the
27:19water and of the spirit,
27:21we're justified in the sight of God.
27:24Therefore, we are now righteous, which
27:27means now in his sight we are innocent.
27:30And because of that, I have his
27:32righteousness. And because his
27:34righteousness has become my
27:36righteousness, I can walk and live in
27:39the peace that it has for me, and you
27:42can too for what it has for you.
27:45Can we just close our eyes and lift your
27:46hands and just
27:48close your eyes and tell him, "Lord, I
27:50want to walk in that peace.
27:52And I thank you for your righteousness
27:54that I can walk in every day.
27:57I thank you, Lord, for the righteousness
27:59that comes from you. My own
28:01righteousness is as filthy rags, your
28:04scripture says, but it is your
28:06righteousness because I've been
28:08justified by being buried in your name,
28:11and I My sins have been washed away, and
28:13I received your spirit, born again of
28:16the water and the spirit, and now I am
28:18righteous. And Lord, I want to walk in
28:20the peace
28:22that you have for my life."
28:28Amen.
28:30Which takes me
28:31back to Isaiah 32. We ready to begin?
28:33Does this make sense to everybody?
28:35So, the result of righteousness is what?
28:39Peace.
28:40Isaiah 32.
28:43And the work of righteousness shall be
28:47peace.
28:49And the effect of righteousness
28:52quietness and assurance forever.
28:55Now, that word work there
28:58means
29:00by the implication there, it's a
29:02product.
29:04It's a thing.
29:05It's an action.
29:07And so,
29:09Isaiah says that the product of
29:12righteousness
29:13shall be
29:16peace.
29:19And the effect of righteousness
29:23is would be
29:25assurance,
29:27confidence,
29:29hope,
29:31security.
29:34So, Isaiah said that the work of
29:37righteousness, God's righteousness, is
29:39going to be peace.
29:41The product of it in your life when you
29:43are in righteousness,
29:46you'll be walking in peace.
29:48The effect of that
29:50is going to be quietness.
29:53It's going to be tranquility.
29:55You will be at peace.
29:58And I'm going to say in spite of what's
30:00going on,
30:01in spite of the stress, in spite of
30:03chaos, you can still have peace. And
30:06after Isaiah says that in verse 17,
30:10he goes on to say in verse 18, "And my
30:13people will dwell in a peaceful
30:16habitation."
30:18He says, "In secure dwellings and in
30:21quiet resting places."
30:24So Kim
30:26this scripture here, we were talking
30:28about this the other day. God wants us
30:30in that quiet place, that resting place
30:33that
30:34uh you like to talk about those the
30:35different kinds of rest. These resting
30:38places, resting place means a repose.
30:41It means uh figuratively speaking, it's
30:44an abode. It's a place where you dwell,
30:47you abide there. It's an abode.
30:49Uh repose,
30:51peaceful.
30:53It's a place of quiet.
30:55It's a place where you are at ease.
30:58It literally means to lull, l o l l, or
31:02to be peaceful or to be at ease. You're
31:04just chilling
31:06like a villain.
31:08Whatever that means.
31:11The Amplified says, "The effect of
31:13righteousness will be peace internal and
31:15external,
31:16and the result of righteousness will be
31:18quietness and confident trust forever."
31:22God, I want to have that.
31:24I want to walk in that. Confident trust.
31:29Peace.
31:31"My people shall dwell in peaceable
31:33habitation, safe dwellings, and in quiet
31:36resting places."
31:39So, that old song that we sing, "Peace,
31:41peace,
31:43wonderful
31:44peace." You remember that oldie?
31:47Coming down
31:49from the Father
31:51above.
31:53Sweep over
31:56my spirit
31:58forever,
32:01I pray.
32:03In fathomless
32:06billows
32:08of love.
32:11What's a fathomless billow?
32:14A fathom is a measurement, if I'm not
32:16mistaken, of the depths of the ocean.
32:19Fathomless means there's no bottom to
32:21it.
32:22It's just on and on It just keeps coming
32:25over you in waving. Just coming in
32:27waves.
32:29Anxiety, by the By the way, prove It's
32:31science of it is it comes in waves,
32:33usually last 15 to 20 minutes.
32:36A lot of people deal with anxiety.
32:38But, that song that we just sang there,
32:41God's peace comes in waves.
32:45To know the love of God, what's the
32:47heights and the depths.
32:50You can't measure the love of God and
32:53his peace that he wants us to live in on
32:56a daily basis
32:58because he loves us so much.
33:01He You You weren't designed
33:05You weren't created
33:07When he
33:08When he made you and I, his intention
33:10was not that we live stressed.
33:13That's a result of sin. That's a result
33:16of the decision that Adam made in the
33:18garden when he ate of the fruit.
33:21But God says, "You don't have to walk
33:22and live in that. You don't have to be
33:23there.
33:25I've got peace for you."
33:31I feel his peace here right now.
33:37Most of you probably heard me use this
33:38talk this verse before, but I I had to
33:40reiterate it because it directly ties in
33:43with Isaiah
33:4632 that we were reading, "The work of
33:48righteousness shall be peace, and the
33:50effect of righteousness quietness and
33:51assurance." In Romans 14:17, most of us
33:54could quote it by heart. I've said it to
33:55you before, I'm going to say it again,
33:57"The kingdom of God is not meat and
33:58drink. It's not ritual tradition, but it
34:00is righteousness
34:02and
34:04peace
34:05and joy
34:08in the Holy Ghost."
34:10Righteousness and peace and joy. You're
34:13right, Sister Kim, the letters did get
34:14kind of
34:16There really are letters there on the
34:17right side. It's just
34:19faded out with the screen, but you can
34:21see
34:22that righteousness and peace and joy
34:26and I'm going to say say it again, words
34:28matter
34:29because the word and is a conjunction.
34:31It's a connector.
34:33In the Greek, the word and is kai, k a
34:36i. It translates to mean so then.
34:40So,
34:41Romans 14:17 could read, "Righteousness
34:44so then peace, so then joy." So, they're
34:48sequential.
34:50So, I can't have joy unless I have
34:53peace.
34:55And I can't have peace unless
34:58righteousness.
35:01Which is exactly what Isaiah said in
35:04Isaiah 32.
35:07Righteousness
35:08so then peace. So then joy.
35:15There is a place in him.
35:18Him meaning
35:20our Lord.
35:22That you and I can live and rest. In
35:25Psalms 30 in Psalms 37
35:28starts off by saying, I'm not going to
35:31go there just quoting it. Fret not
35:33thyself because of evildoers.
35:37If you go down and read in that Psalm
35:39verse seven, I did give you this one or
35:41you'll see it on the screen. Rest in the
35:43Lord and wait patiently for him.
35:46Do not fret because of him who prospers
35:49in his way, because of the man who
35:51brings wicked schemes to pass.
35:53He tells us here
35:56the psalmist, rest. Which means to to
36:00quiet yourself, to keep silence, be
36:02still.
36:04Calm down.
36:06Relax.
36:09Quiet.
36:12That's what it means in the Hebrew. It
36:14means to keep silence. It means to be
36:16still.
36:19The amplified says, be still and rest.
36:21Wait for him. Patiently lean yourself
36:24upon him. Message Bible says, quiet down
36:27before God. New Living Translation says,
36:29be still in the presence of the Lord and
36:32wait patiently. New English Translation
36:34says, wait patiently. Wait confidently
36:37for him. Wait. Everybody say, wait.
36:40You know when I read that, I think of
36:41Isaiah chapter number 40. But they that
36:44wait upon the Lord shall renew their
36:46strength. They shall mount up with wings
36:48as eagles. They shall run and not be
36:49weary. They shall walk and not faint.
36:52Wait there means to collect or collect
36:55together. It means to bind together. It
36:58means to linger. You're waiting.
37:01Wait upon the Lord. You're resting in
37:04him.
37:05And it's interesting, Pastor Hattabaugh,
37:07because he says, "They shall renew their
37:09strength."
37:11That word renew literally means in the
37:13Hebrew to sprout again.
37:18He says, "They shall mount up
37:21with wings." Mount up means to restore.
37:24It means to recover.
37:26It also means a shooting forth up of
37:29vegetation.
37:31In other words, he's saying they would
37:32put on fresh feathers like the molting
37:35eagle.
37:37And that happens when they wait upon the
37:39Lord.
37:41Resting in him.
37:43His peace becomes my peace. His
37:46righteousness, my righteousness.
37:54Rest. Sabbath rest. That's what the Holy
37:58Ghost is about.
37:59Isaiah said,
38:01"For stammering lips and unknown tongue
38:03we speak to this people, for this is the
38:05what?"
38:07The rest.
38:08The rest.
38:10And the refreshing.
38:13That's our Sabbath. Our Sabbath is the
38:15Holy Ghost.
38:16It's the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It's
38:19our Sabbath rest. It means tranquility.
38:23It means an intermission. It's a break.
38:26It's a time out. It's rest.
38:29That I I'm talking to somebody here
38:31tonight. God wants you to walk in that.
38:34He does not want you stressing out,
38:36angry, frustrated, ticked off at every
38:39little thing, the traffic,
38:42uh insurance, gas prices, whatever the
38:45case may be. He's saying, "Trust in me.
38:47I got this.
38:49I got you.
38:50I'll take care of you.
38:52I love you.
38:54You don't have to work all those things
38:56out on your own.
39:00Amen.
39:02And when I have peace
39:05according to Paul Romans 14
39:08then I can have the joy which one writer
39:09said the joy of the Lord is our what?
39:12Our strength. Brother Ryan, musicians.
39:16Joy. Talk about joy.
39:21I know somebody named Joy.
39:23But I'm not talking about her.
39:25I'm talking about the scriptures.
39:27Now
39:29joy comes from having God's peace made
39:32available to mankind on the earth which
39:35is what we see in the book of Luke
39:36chapter number two.
39:38When the angel says
39:40I bring you great a good tidings of
39:42great joy verse 11 of Luke two unto you
39:46is born this day in the city of David a
39:48savior. And he goes on to say verses 12
39:50and 13 about the babe wrapped in
39:52swaddling clothes. And in verse 14
39:56the angel and the multitude of the
39:58heavenly host were praising God saying
39:59glory to God in the highest and on earth
40:01peace
40:03goodwill toward men. You see here both
40:07peace and joy comes because Jesus Christ
40:11was born on the earth.
40:14You and I can have peace and joy
40:16because that's been made available to
40:18you and I.
40:21But that's only possible which are two
40:23of the five things I told you Forbes
40:25magazine said that not Christians people
40:27in our nation they are seeking after
40:30peace and joy.
40:33And it's only possible after I have
40:35hope.
40:36Which is what Paul said in Romans 15 and
40:38verse 13.
40:40Now the God of hope fill you with all
40:43joy and peace and believing that you may
40:46abound in hope through the power of the
40:50Holy Ghost. We have hope. It's his hope
40:55that fills us. And it's that hope that
40:57fills us with joy and peace
41:00because we have received that through
41:03the power of the Holy Ghost.
41:07So, hope is only possible after I've
41:09been made righteous or declared
41:10innocent.
41:12And only after we have dealt with our
41:15past
41:16can we have hope for a future in our
41:19lives.
41:21Paul said in Galatians 5:5
41:24where we through the Spirit wait for the
41:26hope of righteousness by faith.
41:29Hope. Reminds me of that old song I have
41:31hope
41:35when trouble comes my way.
41:37Hope, let's all stand.
41:40See, I want to tell you something.
41:42Righteousness peace joy
41:45these are not human emotions I'm talking
41:47about here tonight.
41:52These are spiritual blessings from God
41:56that's produced by him alone.
41:59And I in my own efforts and you in your
42:02own efforts, we cannot feel any of these
42:05things through our own efforts. Religion
42:07can't do it.
42:10It's a product of not our flesh. It's a
42:14work of the spirit of God in our lives.
42:17He is the the source
42:20of peace
42:21and joy.
42:24And it starts with righteousness.
42:27And the guarantee is
42:30if you hunger and thirst after his
42:31righteousness, you're going to be
42:33filled.
42:35Filled with what?
42:37His peace.
42:39His joy.
42:44God, you're so good to us.
42:47Rather, let me say it to you, Father,
42:49you're so good to us.
42:53That you love us
42:55in spite of our humanity,
43:00in spite of our [music]
43:03failings and shortcomings,
43:06our immaturities,
43:09insecurities. [music]
43:12And you see through all of that,
43:15and you tell us,
43:16"I want to give you my peace.
43:21I want to give you my joy
43:24that will be your strength." Thank you
43:26for the joy of the Lord.
43:28Joy is not happiness. No, it is joy.
43:32It's joy that comes from you. It is your
43:35joy, the joy of the Lord. It's my
43:37strength. Thank you.
43:39Thank you for the peace of God that
43:40passes understanding.
43:43That Paul says that when we think on
43:45these things, whatsoever's true,
43:47whatsoever's lovely, whatsoever's a good
43:49report,
43:51and you Paul said that the God of peace
43:53would be with us.
43:55We not only get your peace, we get the
43:57God of the peace. It's you in our lives.
44:00Thank you, Jesus.
44:03Thank you, Jesus.
44:06Thank you, Father.
44:09He love
44:15I love you, Father.
44:17Thank you for loving us. Some of us feel
44:19unlovable many times, but thank you,
44:22Lord. It has nothing to do with our
44:23feelings. Your very nature is love, and
44:26you love us just simply because that's
44:28who you are, and you love us in our
44:30present [music] condition,
44:32and it never changes because you're the
44:34same yesterday, today, and forever.
44:37We're so thankful tonight, Lord. We're
44:39so thankful that you have given us a way
44:43that we could walk in your
44:45righteousness.
44:47And to understand that many times we're
44:50just scratching the surface and there's
44:52so many
44:53There's so many
44:55areas of depth that we could plunge
44:58ourselves into
45:00to experience you
45:02in spite of what's going on all around
45:05us.
45:08Just close your eyes and just lift your
45:10hands again and say, "Lord, I love you.
45:12I receive your peace.
45:15I receive your peace, Lord.
45:18I receive your peace. If you need to
45:21repent for something, go ahead and
45:23repent. Say, "Lord, I'm sorry.
45:25Sorry for my attitude. Sorry for things
45:27I've said, things I've done.
45:29Sorry for sins of commission, things
45:31that I committed. Sorry for the sins of
45:33omission, things that I haven't done
45:35that I know I should do, Lord. Tonight I
45:37repent of that. I want to walk in your
45:40holiness.
45:42I want your righteousness, Lord. It's
45:43[music] that you've given to me. I want
45:45to walk in that.
45:47I want to be righteous in your sight. I
45:48open this altar for every person here
45:50tonight. Could we come together right
45:52now? Come on. This doesn't [music] mean
45:54you're saying you're not righteous. That
45:56That does mean we're saying, "Lord, I
45:57want to walk in that peace."
46:00Guaranteed peace. It's not a question.
46:04It's a promise. There's so many things
46:06that you promised us. Just like you
46:08said, "Draw nigh unto me and I'll draw
46:10nigh unto you, Lord.
46:13Hunger and thirst after my
46:14righteousness, and I'm going to fill
46:16you."
46:17It's righteousness, peace, and joy in
46:20the Holy Ghost. The product, the work of
46:23righteousness is your peace in our
46:25lives. It's a guarantee, Lord. It's just
46:28right here in your word. We just have to
46:30walk in it.
46:31And so often we get caught up in in jobs
46:34and
46:37pressure, financial pressure, health
46:39situations,
46:41but we can place all of that at your
46:43feet in the name of Jesus. We need you,
46:46Jesus. We want to walk in your peace
46:48tonight, Lord. We want to take the
46:50plunge into those fathomless billows of
46:53your peace and your love. In the name of
46:56Jesus Christ. Come on, somebody.
46:58Somebody online, just lift your hands
47:01and say, "Lord, I I need access to that
47:03[music] peace.
47:04I want to walk into the dimension of
47:06peace.
47:08I want to take the the the faith that
47:10you have given me, Lord, and walk in
47:12your righteousness.
47:14Your righteousness.
47:16There's nothing I do that makes me
47:18righteous [music and singing]
47:19except my obedience to your word. But
47:22Lord, then your righteousness becomes my
47:24righteousness. [music and singing]
47:26In the name of Jesus Christ.
47:35Oh, in the name of Jesus Christ. Lord, I
47:37speak peace to storms in people's lives.
47:41I speak peace, Lord, to stress
47:44that is attacking [music] people's
47:45[singing] minds.
47:47I speak peace to people's minds.
47:51Right now in the name of Jesus Christ.
47:56>> [music]
47:58>> Oh, in the name of Jesus.
48:01While you're praying, tell him, "Lord, I
48:02thank you for loving [singing] me.
48:05I receive it tonight, Lord. I don't have
48:07to question it.
48:09I don't have to ask if it's for me. It
48:11is directly in your word.
48:13We walk by faith and not by sight. We
48:15don't walk by our senses. We walk by
48:17what your word says. [singing]
48:19And your word says if I hunger and
48:22thirst after you
48:23and your righteousness, that I would be
48:25filled. [singing]
48:26You said all these things shall be added
48:29unto us.
48:31>> [music]
48:32>> Peace shall be added to us.
48:35The joy of the Lord shall be added to

50:03but just minister to them.
50:07I want you to be a conduit, a pipeline.
50:08The peace that you've received, [music]
50:10would you minister that to somebody
50:11else?
50:13If you need a fresh anointing,
50:15pour into somebody else.
50:17Let God flow through you to minister to
50:19somebody right [music] now. Somebody in
50:20here who's stressed.
50:22Somebody in here who's dealing with some
50:24stuff.
50:27Somebody in here who's dealing [music]
50:28with some bad news.
50:31Minister to them what you've received.
50:34Freely I've received, freely give.
50:43>> [singing]
50:44>> Oh, yes. That's it.
