Summary
Focusing on the disciples' experience during the storm at sea, this sermon challenges believers to move beyond limited labels of God and embrace the deeper revelations of His power found within life's difficulties. It celebrates the church's mission of changing the world by sending out disciples while reminding us that God is always ready to break our boxes and show off His glory.
Key points
- •The storm in Mark 4 was not meant to destroy the disciples but to move them from a limited understanding of Jesus to an overwhelming awe of His true identity as Creator.
- •Humans naturally use mental shortcuts and labels to categorize people and God, but spiritual growth requires tearing off those labels to experience God's full complexity.
- •Shared suffering is a pathway to deeper intimacy with Christ; as Paul wrote in Philippians, true joy is found in knowing Him more, even in the midst of chains.
- •Storms and impossible situations are opportunities for God to 'show off' His glory and power, revealing facets of His character that cannot be discovered in comfortable seasons.
- •A 'sending church' focuses on deployment and missions, trusting that the same God moving in nations like Brazil and Portugal is actively working in South Florida.

Life application
This week, identify one area where you have put God in a box or limited your expectations of Him. Intentionally invite Him into your current 'storm' not just for relief, but for a deeper revelation of who He is.
Reflection questions
- In what ways have you labeled or categorized God based on your past experiences rather than His infinite nature?
- How does reframing your current struggles as 'opportunities for God to show off' change your perspective on your situation?
- What are the 'details' of God's character you might be missing because you are taking a mental shortcut in your daily walk?
- Like the disciples in the boat, have you ever been more afraid of God's power than the circumstances surrounding you? What did that teach you?

22:50two people, high five and tell them God's got
22:56you. His mercies are there for you. God bless
23:02you. You may be seated. I'd like to welcome
23:08all of our guests here tonight and our Pentecostals
23:14church family. And isn't it great just to come
23:20together on this Sunday night and worship together?
23:26Love it. Such unity here. We're grateful to have all of you joining us here,
23:31whether you're on-site or online. And if you're new here, we'd love to connect with
23:35you because we want you to know that you are important and that you do
23:40matter here at the Pentecostals. There are connect cards that are available from the ushers
23:44that you could fill out and you could complete that. And then we could... You
23:49turn that in at the guest reception in the lobby. We have a gift that
23:55we'd like to present to you because we want you to know that you really
24:01are important to us. Amen. Can you believe it's June? That is amazing. And before
24:07the summer gets away from you and you book all your summer travel plans, asking
24:13you to mark your calendars for July 29th through Friday, July 31st for What a
24:19Mess Vacation Bible School 2026. Amen. We believe this is going to be one of
24:24the best things that your children will do this summer to help build their faith
24:29in God. Registration is now open. You can use the QR code that you see
24:34on the screen. Also, please be watching your email because you're going to be receiving
24:38an email with more details about what's coming up. There's going to be classes and
24:43activities and games for children ages 4 to 12. This is a great opportunity for
24:48you to invite your friends and family, friends And co-workers, your neighbors, this great opportunity
24:53to minister to people in your community. So that's Vacation Bible Study. Also, we have
24:59our midweek service, Life University here, and our students and our youth classes and children's
25:05classes taking place this Wednesday night at 7 o'clock. Well, this is the first Sunday
25:11of the month, and so that means this is dedicated as Mission Sunday here at
25:16the Pentecostals. And aren't you thankful that we are a missions-minded church from Cooper City
25:22and Coral Springs changing the world? How many want to be a world changer? Amen.
25:27And so as is our custom, we give some reports of some of the missionaries
25:33that we support, of the nearly 100 missionaries that we support on a monthly basis
25:38through your generosity. In Greece, at the Ignite Youth Conference, there are 171 in attendance
25:44and five first-time guests. Six were filled with the Holy Ghost, two baptized in the
25:49name of Jesus Christ. We thank God for that. Amen. In Benin, Midwest Africa, a
25:55doctor visited one of our churches who was lame in his leg. He got healed
26:00in that service by the power of the Holy Ghost. We rejoice and thank God
26:05for that. And also in Cuba, 13 people received the gift of the Holy Ghost
26:10in two different churches. We thank God for that. Amen. And some of
26:16you may not know this, but two weeks ago on Pentecost Sunday in Coral Springs,
26:20we had four receive the Holy Ghost that Sunday morning. But that night, we had
26:24our first salt and light worship night at the beach. We baptized two in the
26:29ocean in Jesus' name, and four received the gift of the Holy Ghost in Deerfield
26:33Beach. We want to thank the Lord for that. Amen, amen. So part of our
26:38missions here is our giving. We're going to receive our tithes and offerings here in
26:42just a couple of moments. and I'll take care of a little business before we
26:47actually give, but just to say here that we want to thank everybody who so
26:52faithfully give to support all the things that happen here week in and week out.
26:57You can give tonight at coopercitychurch.org or you can text POCC to 77977. And after
27:02we pray here in a few moments, our ushers will give you the opportunity to
27:07worship the Lord with your giving. Also, while we worship, our kids choir is going
27:12to be singing and leading us in worship while we give tonight. And while we're
27:18praying also, we just want to ask everybody that you would please remember our kids
27:23campers that are going to be leaving tomorrow for kids camp because now we're entering
27:29into the camp season. Amen. Well, three weeks ago, three weeks ago, our esteemed team
27:34here from Cooper City and Coral Springs came We embarked on a great trip to
27:39the nation of Brazil. We were on a mission and that was to link up
27:44with the Coopers and their mission in Brazil. So tonight we want to share some
27:49memories and just do a review of our time in Brazil. There was a time
27:54of great prayers. Actually went into the city and tore down some idols
27:59and altars that have
28:04been built up we
28:10prayed warfare there's ministry
28:16of the word several
28:21of our team members
28:27here did some teaching
28:32on that trip and
28:38we did some work
28:44on the church property
28:49just a great opportunity
28:55to be engaged and
29:00involved in missions in
29:06brazil if you please
29:12take a look at
29:17the screen just for
29:23a quick quick recap
29:28of our trip to

29:54It's

30:35it

30:46everything
30:50that
30:54was
30:57this
31:01mission
31:05strip. And they
31:11gave me the amazing opportunity to come up here and just share with you all
31:16a bit of a recap of what it was like to go out to Brazil.
31:21Now, when I was thinking about how to summarize this trip, What came to mind,
31:26oddly enough, was soldiers on a deployment. Now I know there's not an exact correlation,
31:31right? There's a big difference, obviously. But in my 13 years in the military, I've
31:36always heard military members talking about, oh, I want to go back on deployment. And
31:41for me, that just never really made sense. Like, why would you want to go
31:46back to such a place that's so dangerous, right? So what I did is I
31:50asked Chad GBT, or my best friend as my wife calls it, And Chad actually
31:56came up with seven different reasons why veterans crave going black on deployment. I
32:02found four of these reasons relatable to this missions trip. The first being a
32:08sense of purpose and simplicity. On deployment, soldiers and military members, they find mission
32:14clarity. They know what they have to do every morning. They got to get
32:19up, do PT, prepare for their mission and roll for that day, and then
32:25they bed down. Right? Now on the mission field, it's a little bit different, right?
32:31We woke up, we ate breakfast, we taught classes, we attended small groups or home
32:36groups as they call it there in Brazil. Then we came back at the end
32:41of the day for fellowship. Every day had a purpose. A second thing is brotherhood
32:46and camaraderie. Veterans often say this is what they miss the most. On this trip,
32:51we ate together, prayed together, we built relationships that are going to last far beyond
32:56just this trip. The third thing is intensity. In a combat zone,
33:01every day matters because it might be the last day. On the mission field, intensity
33:07is a little different. It was seeing a woman receiving the Holy Ghost for the
33:13first time in her own home. It was tearing down the sacrifices and the altars
33:19that were created, as Brother Lewis mentioned, right? Praying over that area, anointing it with
33:24oil, going into unfamiliar streets, praying over those streets, and praying that God have His
33:30will in that area, in that city. The fourth thing, unfinished business.
33:36Sometimes people want to go back because they feel there's still more to do. Since
33:41returning home, I found myself asking, could we have prayed more? Did we help enough?
33:47What will happen to those families? How much work is still left to be done?
33:52And what stuck with me most about Brazil was the openness of the people. Before
33:58going, I expected a nation drifting away from God. Instead, I saw people who still
34:03recognize that Jesus is their peace. in their comfort and their willingness to
34:09hear about Him. Our last night there, we were at a restaurant and the pianist,
34:14towards the end, played a worship song. I don't know if it was intentional or
34:19maybe he wanted to sneak one in there. Whatever the reason was, we were Pentecostal
34:24and obviously we decided to sing along. Right? One song became two, then three. Next
34:30thing we knew it, the entire restaurant was clapping and cheering. One table even stopped
34:35us and asked us, "Hey, are you from an evangelical church?" We connected them
34:41to Sister Cooper in hopes that they may attend service. Now I can see a
34:46little bit about how service members would sometimes want to go back. It's not necessarily
34:52because they miss the hardship. It's because they miss the purpose. They miss the camaraderie.
34:58They miss seeing everyday matter. They miss being a part of something bigger than themselves.
35:04And that's exactly what this mission gave all of us. Many of us already want
35:09to go back. Some already have. Riley and Tafari are there now. What it shows
35:15me Is that the mission doesn't end simply because we flew on
35:21the plane and came back home. Brazil may have been our assignment for
35:27a week, but South Florida is our assignment every day. And I'll leave
35:32you with this. Continue praying for Brazil, the Coopers. But also pray that
35:38God will help us see the mission field that exists right here, outside
35:44of these doors. The same God moving in Brazil is the same God
35:50who wants to move here right home. Alright? Deus te abençoe and God
35:56bless. Alright, amen, amen. That was good. I couldn't have said
36:02that any better. As a matter of fact, I'm gonna steal a little bit from
36:07you and your friend, AI, and I'm gonna stay in that same vein. So I'd
36:12like to announce the next deployment of POCC and Coral Springs
36:17Campus missions trip. If we can, next slide. So our adult
36:23missions trip for fall coming up to Guatemala is locked in.

37:59Company isn't dismissed. Amen. We say from Cooper City changing the world, I want
38:05to just remind you, you just heard from our team that went to Brazil
38:11three weeks ago. On Monday of this week, on Monday of this week, we
38:17had Sister Miriam and Ciso go and land in the country of Guatemala. She's
38:22our forerunner for Guatemala. She's on the AIM program there. We had last night,
38:28arrived early this morning. There's two people on this team that are not here tonight
38:34because they went back already and they're going to be working there for a couple
38:40of months in Brazil. We thank God for that. Praise God. Tomorrow we're deploying a
38:45team of over 30 young people to Belize. That's a great day. Can you say
38:51amen to that? Amen. And then in a few weeks,
38:56we're also sending a team to Italy and they're going to be ministering in Italy.
39:02So when we say from Cooper City changing the world, we, I said this earlier,
39:07I don't know of a church that gets to impact the world as much as
39:12we do. I don't know. There may be other churches, but this church is invested
39:17in the harvest and invested. But not only do we want to change the next
39:21generations in the youth on the field, but we also want to change the next
39:25generations of camps. We have some kids that are headed to camp. They're probably in
39:29the choir right now, but we're going to pray. I'm going to ask you to
39:34stand. We're going to pray, and the kids are going to be singing. Thank you,
39:38Sister Vanessa and your team for helping us with the kids' choir. Sister Nunez. Thank
39:42you for what you're about to hear. I'm gonna ask all of my Brazil team
39:46to come and we're gonna pray for our team that's going to Guatemala to Belize.
39:50Would you all come down and pray? And we're gonna ask the Lord's blessing. Brother
39:54Lewis is gonna lead us in prayer. We're also gonna pray for the offering and
39:58they're gonna take the offering up as the kids are singing right now. But God
40:03has a plan and a purpose. I thank God that he allows us to have
40:07a part in the harvest. Can somebody say amen to that? Amen. Aren't you glad
40:12that he allows us to do these things? Amen. And if you've never been on
40:18a missions trip, well, you might need to get your passport because there's more coming.
40:24And I thank God. And I'll just announce it already for those Yamers that are
40:30here. Next year, next year, Youth on Missions 2027 is Jamaica. Yeah, man.
40:36I got some love from Jamaica tonight. I got some job from Jamaica tonight. So
40:41you're going to be hearing more about that. But today we're sending them off to
40:46Belize as they head to the airport early tomorrow morning. Y'all, if you're not having
40:51fun living for God, you're not doing it right. If you're not having fun living
40:57for God. You're not doing it right. We're going to deploy these. Pastor Lewis, pray,
41:02and we're going to let these kids sing. Jesus, point your hands this direction. Father,
41:07we thank you for your anointing that is here, and you have used us and
41:12prepared us for trips previously, and now we pray for this group. In the name
41:16of Jesus, we pray for the Hidalgos and the team. that are headed on this
41:21trip, the Youth on Mission trip to Belize in the name of Jesus. We pray

41:49of Jesus Christ, thy kingdom come and thy will be done. in their lives as

50:15Everybody amen. Well, it's been a missions day today and And I think it's
50:21going to be a continued missions night tonight. We've already talked about all of the
50:26deployments that have happened, those that are going to be happening. But there's one more
50:31deployment that we want to bring to you, and he's going to bring the word
50:36tonight. And we are so thankful and blessed for the Calvo family. And I thank
50:41God for Mother Faber, Sister Diana, their two children. Amen. Amen. And for those
50:47of you that don't know, Brother and Sister Calvo are embarking
50:52on a one-year missions trip to Portugal. To Portugal. So we
50:58continue to change the world together. I said it earlier today,
51:04we go by going, we go by sending, we go by
51:09giving, we go by praying, we go by supporting. But this
51:15church is a going church. I want to be involved in
51:20going. Not just the seating capacity, but the power of a great church
51:26is the sending capacity. And this church is a sending church. You saw the Coopers
51:32that are down in Brazil. They used to be sitting in these pews right here,
51:36and now they're serving in Brazil. We've got Brother Hannah. We've got missionaries in different
51:41places of the world that were here. I thank God for the Fulmers that are
51:45traveling right now. Their kids are here. Thank God for what they're doing. And Sweden.
51:50I just tell you, God's got great things. Pastor was just preaching earlier this year
51:54in hell. Sinki Helsinki. Sorry. I forgot to get the whole word in there. I
52:00was in Estonia preaching in Helsinki Finland and Estonia Folks that's just in the last
52:06few months. We're not talking in ten years. We're talking in the last few weeks
52:11and months and That God's allowed us to do so many amazing things. Amen. Brother
52:17Faber has been traveling. When you don't see him here, he's been traveling and raising
52:21support from California to the East Coast, all over. He texts me, Pastor, if it's
52:26okay, I'm preaching in California. If it's okay, I'm preaching in Virginia. I'm preaching here.
52:31I'm preaching there. And I thank God for the doors he's opening and how that
52:36God is going to do great things to this family in the country of Portugal.
52:40Today they baptized four. Today in Portugal in one church, we had four or
52:46five, was it? It was four baptized in the church in Portugal this morning.
52:52I'm telling you, God is doing great things around the world. Are you going
52:58to help him preach? Would you welcome our great evangelist, missionary, Brother Faber Calvo
53:03in Jesus' name. Hallelujah. Why don't you give that hand clap to the Lord
53:09a little louder. He is good and His mercy endureth forever.
53:15And we are in His sanctuary and what we do in the
53:20sanctuary of God is we give Him praise. We give Him glory
53:26because He is good. Somebody say amen to that. Hallelujah. Open your
53:32Bibles to Mark chapter 4. Mark chapter 4. We're gonna read verses
53:3735 to 41. I want to thank Pastor Hannibal. Pastor Volan
53:43for just always believing in us, always supporting us, always
53:48praying for us and just thankful for leadership that is
53:54apostolic, leadership that is a Christian leadership, Pentecostal leadership and
53:59I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful to be in the
54:05house. God grateful to be with POCC, POCS. I was out for
54:11five weeks and honestly I miss church. I miss home. I know once
54:16we get to Portugal I'm gonna miss home a lot. So it's just
54:22good to be back home and we're excited. We are very close to
54:28hitting our budget for AIM. We are about seven partners and missions away.
54:34So so we're very close so help us pray. We need a lot of prayer
54:38I mentioned this before but I'll mention it again just if you have a praying
54:43spirit and we have a burden for What God is doing in Portugal? Pray for
54:47us as soon as we said yes to the Lord Things start happening and and
54:51I think is also at the same time God being good But my wife has
54:56struggled a little bit with her illness and and some other things have come up
55:00but I We've seen the hand of God as well. We've seen his mercy
55:06and we've seen his answers and he's been good tonight My title is
55:12and tell your neighbor living for a deeper revelation Living for a deeper
55:18revelation Mark chapter 4 verses 35 to 41 I'm gonna try to read
55:24this in the KJV Honestly, I struggle a little bit in the KJV,
55:30but here we go and the same day when the
55:35evening was come he saith unto them let us pass over unto the other
55:41side and when they had sent away the multitude they took him even as
55:47he was in the ship there was also with him other little ships there
55:53arose a storm what kind of storm a great storm it says storm of
55:59wind and the waves beat into the ship so that it was now full
56:05and he was in the hinder part of the ship asleep on a
56:10pillow and they that's good huh anybody took a nap this afternoon hallelujah
56:16thank god for naps on sunday you wake up and you think it's
56:22thursday jesus was resting asleep on a pillow and they awake him and
56:27said unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? Don't you care
56:33that we're about to die here? And he arose and rebuked the wind
56:39and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and
56:44there was great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so
56:50fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?
56:54Here's more
56:58My Speed,
57:03the ES
57:07version speaks.
57:11Put your
57:15Bibles aside. Living for a
57:21deeper revelation. Ask God to speak to you today. Jesus, we come before you. We
57:26come, Lord, understanding that your presence is in this place. We've worshipped. We've praised your
57:32name, Lord. We've felt your presence in this place, Lord. As we come, Lord, to
57:37share your word, I ask, Lord, that you only speak what you want to say,
57:42Lord, and let our hearts be open to your word, and let our minds be
57:47open to what you have to say. Oh, would you reveal yourself to us one
57:53more time? Would you speak to us, and would you transform our thoughts, Lord, and
57:58our deeper beings, God, today, as we praise your name and as we exalt your
58:03power here tonight? Lord, I thank you for your spirit in this place. I know
58:09that you are here and you are bringing a word
58:14Lord and you're speaking faith into somebody's life tonight and
58:20I thank you because your word is alive today Jesus
58:26in Jesus name you may be seated do you ever
58:32just walk or drive down a known street and really
58:37look around like really detailly in detail look we usually don't if
58:43we know a street when you drive here to the church or when you drive
58:49to work you're usually not paying attention to the details of the streets you're not
58:55really looking at the houses you're not really looking at the trees you just know
59:00that they just are there our brains create icons for the places that we often
59:05pass by when you pass by a place like that uh you you don't you
59:10see the trees but you really have the icon of a tree you don't really
59:15see the detail of the tree if you pass a house the same thing you're
59:21not looking at the color so much or the windows but your brain is kind
59:26of doing a shortcut because our brains like shortcuts Our minds want simplicity and predictability
59:31and safety. We like what we know and we know what we like. And
59:37when it comes to people, Our minds create shortcuts as well. We put labels
59:43and categories so we do not have to think too much about them or really
59:49deduce how they are or who they are as a person. As we age, we
59:55do this more and more. We connect the people that we're meeting with people who
60:00we've met in the past. We tend to use past experiences with others to package
60:06and label things. That we are getting acquainted with a new person so our brain
60:12just likes to categorize people and to reduce the complexity of a personality to
60:18make quick judgments watch out for that we use prior interactions and expectations they
60:24often turn into single behaviors and to fix identities and we just with just
60:30a few details of a person we could put them in a box and
60:36Labeling also helps us simplify our mind on journey that helps us
60:42keep control. Who likes to keep control here? Ooh. we like
60:48to feel safe and protected hallelujah but labels may reflect real patterns
60:54but fail to capture the full complexity of a person if we
60:59put labels on people right as we know them if we put
61:05people in boxes it often leads to misjudgment and rational stagnation bias
61:10and dehumanization and just like us Just how we try to do that to other
61:16people when we meet somebody at a networking event or that new person came into
61:22your job. The disciples were doing that a little bit. They were labeling, they were
61:27boxing in who Jesus was. It's interesting when you look at the disciples and they
61:32ask one another, one another they were murmuring the bible says they were just kind
61:38of whispering in the back who is this in that passage that we just read
61:44it's a very interesting question because they had already spent time with him
61:50Before this, before Mark chapter 4, Jesus had began his public ministry in
61:56Galilee and then he called his disciples. They had been called by Jesus.
62:01Before this, this event that we just read, Jesus had taught already with
62:07authority. He rebuked already unclean spirits. He had healed Peter's mother-in-law. and had healed
62:13many others. He had forgiven sins, he had healed the paralytic, and he had healed
62:19the man with the withered hand. There was extraordinary things happening, and Jesus had already
62:25been doing that. He had appointed the 12th. But in Mark chapter 4, we see
62:31that something different happened. This is not just something I, regular it wasn't something
62:37casual hallelujah this question that they ask who then is this that even the
62:43wind and the sea obey him arises after they already after they already had
62:48a significant exposure to jesus somebody say significant exposure They
62:54were not reacting like first-time observers. They had already seen enough to know that
63:00he was an extraordinary man. But they were not fully known. They did not
63:06really understand who he was. This is why the scene in the storm is
63:11so important. It marks that in this place, while they were at sea, there
63:17is a deeper revelation that they needed to understand. There was something that they
63:23did didn't know oh and Jesus was ready to reveal himself to them Jesus had
63:29already revealed himself they were already traveling with him he was a great teacher
63:35rabbi and awesome things happened they had seen miracles and wonders hallelujah but they
63:41never never imagine that the one who was walking with them could calm the storm
63:46the disciples if you read it again they did not know him at that
63:52moment they failed to recognize who was that person who was that rabbi he
63:58became a total stranger to them they did not know how to identify him they
64:04could not imagine that he had that much power hallelujah they were filled with fear
64:10somebody say with fear Fear and awe. Oh, it's important. What matters here
64:16is that the fear after the miracle is actually deeper than the fear that
64:21they had during the storm. Mark here shows us a movement from fear of
64:27circumstances to overwhelming awe and fear before Jesus himself. This is not just panic.
64:33but the shock of realizing that they are in the boat with someone whose authority
64:39is beyond every normal human category there was no box hallelujah and he had not
64:44changed he was just taking the nap maybe that power nap they thought hey that
64:50power nap really changed him oh but the disciples had put jesus they put a
64:56label on jesus they put a box Him they put him in a box and
65:01they only knew what they knew they had only seen what they had seen they
65:07only knew that Jesus had some sort of power but the night in the middle
65:12of the storm Jesus wanted to reveal himself even more deeply to them he wanted
65:18to break the limits he wanted to break the mold he wanted to rip off
65:23the labels he wanted to demonstrate his power to them what he did
65:29is not just some sort of just cutesy demonstration but he reveals his
65:35identity as the Creator when he stops the wind when he calms the
65:41sea it wasn't just a miracle but he was showing that Jesus that
65:47I am he was showing I am that I I am and I
65:52am the Creator and I can stop and talk and at the sound
65:58of my voice nature has to listen he was showing them that in
66:04him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily oh he's not just
66:10any rabbi he is God himself
66:16It's so interesting to know they had already put him in a box. And we
66:20do that all the time. We just want to kind of move with whatever we
66:24got, whatever norm, whatever thing. And we just want to, we go to church on
66:28Sundays. That's what we always do. And we go on Wednesdays and we start putting
66:32God in a box. Hallelujah. And then storms come to our lives and we call
66:36Jesus to get water out the boat instead of calling him for him to perform
66:41a miracle because we don't know better because we have a limited view of God.
66:47Hallelujah. But let me remind you and encourage you tonight that the storm is not
66:52meant to destroy you. Whatever difficulty that you're going through if you
66:57have Jesus with you oh I assure you that he
67:03just wants to reveal himself to you in a deeper
67:09way somebody gave him praise for that God likes to
67:15show off tell somebody God wants to show off he
67:21doesn't care about I know that sounds like a negative term when
67:27we talk about showing off. It's not very, it's not very Christian like. But God
67:33is very particular and very straightforward when it comes to speaking about the glory and
67:38who deserves it. He's not shy away from speaking. Here's what Isaiah 42 verse 8
67:44says. I am the Lord God. That is my name. And here it goes.
67:50And my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven
67:55images. Oh, hallelujah. When we go through storms and difficulties, when you are a
68:01child of god we're not just living to suffer we're not just struggling just because
68:07but there is something when we have our hands our lives in the hands of
68:12jesus he just wants to reveal himself in a deeper way oh he wants to
68:18show off his power he wants to show off what he can do a couple
68:24people are believing with me tonight so when difficulties and
68:29storms come in our lives life doesn't surprise god our storms don't surprise god
68:35he is not thrown off because of a situation that we're struggling with oh
68:41he knows oh and if we trust him and if we call on him
68:47during our storms of life his voice oh you will hear his voice strike
68:53through every wind and every wave and call and cause peace that passes all
68:59understanding. Somebody know what I'm talking about tonight? Can anybody say that they've
69:05experienced, oh, a power of God that brought calm to the storm? Is
69:10any witnesses here that have seen the hand of God? Jesus said you're
69:16going to have tribulation. You're going to have trouble in this world.
69:22So, you know, we can't, that's why we don't preach that everything's going to be
69:27great and you're always going to have a bigger house and a bigger car and
69:32a better, and just the prosperity thing. We don't really believe that there are going
69:37to be some difficulties. There are going to be some hardships. Open up in Philippians
69:43chapter 3, verse 10. Paul is writing to the church of Philippi, and this is
69:48Paul writing from not a resort. He's not riding from the cabins.
69:54He's not in a cruise in the Caribbean while he's riding this. He's not in
69:59Cancun or Punta Cana. He's not out there. He's on a private beach in Key
70:05West. He wasn't, no, he wasn't there. A retreat, he was not there as well.
70:10Guess where he was? He was in prison. He was holding together in
70:16his house. And he was in chains, the Bible says. And he writes
70:22to Philippians, what is... There's some SFBI students here. I taught Philippians a
70:27couple of, a few months ago. What is, what is called the letter
70:33of Philippians? Can anybody tell me? I got everybody. All right. Good. I
70:38know the answer. The letter of Philippians is the letter, it's considered widely
70:44considered As the letter of joy. he writes the letter of joy now
70:50think about this philippi or the the philippians were struggling they were having a hard
70:55time there were there was already persecution happening and then he was in prison it's
71:00just from bad to worse and then he decides to pen the letter to philippians
71:05as the letter of joy there's joy at least spoken about 16 times in this
71:10four chapter letter which is very important and what is paul telling us there understanding
71:15that You know he is what they're going through and where he's at Paul wrote
71:21Philippians not from a place of comfort but from a place where he was under
71:27Roman guard in chains. He was not free to leave. He was awaiting his sentence
71:33and Paul was giving you and I a very clear example that in difficulty In
71:38trial and in struggle, sickness and in the midst of pain, I am going to
71:44trust and depend on God and He will have His way in my life.
71:51My joy does not depend on the things that happen in my life, but the
71:56joy of the Lord is my strength and when I seek his face and what
72:01he's trying to do in me is he's trying to reveal himself in a deeper
72:07way. This is an important characteristic. Christianity we cannot say that this is gonna be
72:12all rainbows and butterflies no if you live for God long enough you're gonna have
72:17some hardships oh but in those hardships and in those difficulties you're gonna understand and
72:22you're gonna see and you're gonna know God way more than what you used to
72:27know him before and whatever limit you had put God on whatever box you
72:33put God on he's gonna break that box and he's
72:38gonna show himself as the God Almighty hallelujah I
72:44don't know what you're going through brother and sister. I don't know if you're struggling.
72:49I don't know if you're having a hard time I don't know what it is
72:53that you're struggling with but let's learn from Paul. Verse 10 I told you to
72:58open Philippians 3:10 He talks about all the things that he had before and how
73:02that nothing that means nothing to him because what's more important to Paul here is
73:07that I may know him power of his resurrection here it goes here goes
73:13the part that we skip or we read quickly and may share his
73:18sufferings oh may share somebody say share his sufferings becoming like him in
73:24his death Oh, well, Paul, Paul, what he wanted to do. And as he wrote
73:30Philippians, he let them know, I don't care about whatever titles I had or whatever
73:35money I had. When I got to know Jesus, all I needed to know is
73:40that I need to know him more. Oh, more than I knew him yesterday. I
73:45need to know him more today. Oh, and no matter how hard life gets, he's
73:50going to show himself. Hallelujah to us. Paul understood the trials and
73:56difficulties, even when they were painful. they became a deeper
74:02revelation of God, a deeper communion with God. It became a more intimate
74:07knowledge of the Lord, a clearer revelation of his will, a greater closeness
74:13to God. Let me tell you, brother and sister, friend, if you're visiting
74:19today, I have never known God so deeply as when I go through
74:25the difficulties of life. Because it takes the storms to know God
74:31more. It takes the sickness to know that he is my healer. It
74:37takes financial trouble to understand that he supplies my every need. It takes
74:42pain to understand that he heals me. me and he is my healer it takes
74:48moments of tension to understand that we have a God of peace in the middle
74:53of the storm in the middle of the storm there is a deeper revelation of
74:58who he is the king the almighty and no matter how long you live for
75:03the Lord there is going to be a lot more for you to learn about
75:08him for you to know about him you just have to understand and hold on
75:13in that difficulty he just wants to show me something he just wants
75:19to glorify himself in my infirmity he just wants to show that he
75:25is a healer in my life he wants to show his power he
75:31wants to show off whatever you're going through brother and sister i'm going
75:36to end quick Stay strong. Remain in prayer. Remain singing songs for the Lord. Stay
75:42in the word. Hallelujah. Because what God wants from this difficulty is just simply show
75:48off his glory. He just wants to break the mold. Whatever label you've put on
75:53him. Whatever roof you've put on him. he wants to break that and he wants
75:58to change and transform oh the idea that you have of him he wants to
76:04reveal his power in your life as i mentioned and i think i've mentioned it
76:09before but i'll say it again once we said yes lord we want to try
76:14this thing and go to portugal and and god i don't know what's going to
76:19happen but we're going to believe hallelujah i think god is so merciful that he
76:24gives you trials
76:30I think God is so merciful that he makes us go through some
76:35pain sometimes. And sometimes he wants to put us in situations where you
76:41and I have no control over. No control over. you try and you do this
76:47and that and you try with your intellect and you try with your hands to
76:51come up with an answer and be in a place and you say God but
76:56I'm serving you God but I'm doing this for you and I'm off I'm giving
77:00offering I'm do I'm praying in the morning the morning i'm reading your word why
77:05am i going through this hard time why am i losing control of my life
77:09it feels like the winds and the waves of life sometimes hit our ship so
77:14hard that we just start thinking that we're not going to make it through we
77:19start thinking oh but god is just he's just on a different level his thoughts
77:23are higher than our thoughts Hallelujah. So he's just preparing for preparing us to show
77:29his glory. And as we go through this, this whole Portugal thing. Oh, hallelujah.
77:35I can't say it's been easy. But I also can't
77:41say that God forsake me. But every moment in the middle of difficulty and
77:47tears, in the middle where you don't see the light at the end of
77:52the tunnel, there all of a sudden his mercy and his power lifts me
77:58up. And then I see him like I've never seen him before. Then
78:04I see him provide like I've never seen him provide. Then I see him heal
78:09like I've never seen him heal because he wants to reveal himself to me more.
78:14And the more I see, the more I want. God you're not going through a
78:20situation brother and sister just because if you love the Lord if you're serving God
78:26the hardships and the stuff that you lose control over you're not just going through
78:31it just because but God just wants you say you know I'm gonna show my
78:36daughter what a healer does I'm gonna show my son what a provider of a
78:41God I am and I'm going to blow his mind
78:50Have you ever received an answer from God where he blew your mind? Anybody here?
78:55And then you're like, how could I have ever doubted? How could I have ever
79:00thought that he couldn't do it? How could I forget that he said in his
79:05word that he was never going to forsake me? That he was never going to
79:10leave me? Oh, how can I forget? And that's when you run to the altar.
79:15Oh, and throw your hands in the air and say, oh God. You had
79:21this all along and you just wanted to show and reveal
79:26your power in my life. Thank you. We put boxes, labels
79:32on God because we just want to do a shortcut. We
79:37have a limited, right now, you and I, I have a
79:43limited perspective of God. We can read his word and see
79:48what God has done, but we have a limited perspective of
79:54what God has done in our lives. And That limitation and that
79:59thought puts us in a place where if we put him in a box, we
80:05just try to figure God out. Anybody try to figure God out? Somebody said this.
80:10God is pretty smart. And you can't outsmart him. You can't figure him out. But
80:16the T.S. Tenney used to say this. When you think you got God figured out,
80:21he's going to switch it on you. When you think you got God figured out,
80:27he's going to switch it on you. Man, has he done that to me?
80:33but hallelujah i came to tell somebody hallelujah jesus is not confined to your
80:39last experience he's not limited by the current storm that you're struggling with right
80:45now he's not limited by that hallelujah when you put somebody in a box
80:51you stop allowing for growth hallelujah for movement for revelation ah when you put
80:57god in in a box you limit your expectation of what he can do
81:03in the storm that you're facing every time we go through difficulties in life
81:09that becomes that becomes an opportunity to know the Lord more for him to
81:15reveal himself in our lives you may stand to expand the limits what limit
81:21have you put on God What impossibility are you going through right now that you
81:26feel like, you know what, God did it for them, but I don't know if
81:31he can do it for me. Oh, what thing have you been struggling with and
81:35suffering with so long that you're starting to lose faith? faith that God can do
81:40it. I've come to encourage you in Jesus' name right now and tell you
81:46that his power is limitless and all he's trying to do is mold you
81:52and show you he is God and there is nothing impossible for him. He
81:57wants to expand your limits. We'll end with this. You know this verse. Romans
82:038, 28. You know this. And we know that all things what? Work
82:09together for good. All things. Not all good things. Not only good
82:15things. All things. Sickness sometimes. Financial difficulty. Marital issues. So many things.
82:20But all those things, if we love God, are going to work
82:26out at the end. And what we're going to learn in the
82:32process is that we're going to learn that he is even mightier than we thought
82:37the time before. Hallelujah. We're going to understand this. You know what? I've loved the
82:42Lord. going through this and I've understood that in this storm and in the darkness
82:48of my life He has been with me all the time and if He has
82:53been with me and if He is for me, oh who can be against me?
82:59Oh, there's no storm that is bigger than our God. Every wind has to stop
83:05and every wave has to be calm at the power of His voice.
83:13I don't know what storm you're going through, brother or sister. I don't know what
83:18you're going through. There's too many people here to know. But those winds sometimes make
83:24you think that you won't be able to make it through. Has anybody been in
83:30that place before? The sea makes you think that your boat is going to split
83:36in two and that you're going to lose everything. But fear not. And let me
83:42encourage you to not faint. Let me encourage you not to give up. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
83:49but to stay in the Lord, but to seek Him because all He wants to
83:53do, if you love God, if you live for God, all He wants to do
83:58is to show you a little bit more of who He is and the kind
84:03of power that He has. And it doesn't matter if you live a thousand years.
84:08Oh, every day and every season of your life, you can experience God even more.
84:13Hallelujah. I've been in this for almost 40 years. Hallelujah. And the God that I
84:18knew when I was a teenager and the God that I knew in my 20s.
84:23Hallelujah. It was awesome. Oh, but in my 30s, he's blown my mind. He's made
84:28me all think, you know what? There is no limit to our Lord. He can
84:33do anything. He can do everything. And there is nothing impossible for the Lord. So
84:38I'm going to ask you to come here to the front. If you're
84:44struggling, if you're having a hard time, if you have some sickness, some
84:50difficulty, if you were in a situation where you lost all control, where
84:55you say, "You know what? Only God can get me out of here."
85:01Where only God can do something because I'm done. I'm at the end
85:07of myself. And I can't, I don't have an answer. I don't
85:13have a way to go but I feel like this storm is about, it's hitting
85:19me so hard that I won't make it. Hallelujah. There is faith in the building
85:24tonight. Hallelujah. And all that God wants you to do tonight is fill you with
85:30some faith to believe that He, all He wants to do in your life is
85:36just show off His power. I know that there are impossible situations here. I will
85:41tell you that I'm under a little bit of an impossible situation.
85:48But when we come together We come understanding that oh the God that we've seen
85:53before and and the the roof that we put on him in the box that
85:59we put him in Hallelujah, it's just temporary. He's gonna blow through that and he's
86:04gonna show us his power It is here that you're going to see the power
86:09of God as never before it is a difficulty It is here that you're gonna
86:15know him more it is here that you're gonna experience expand the limits of your
86:20understanding. Ah you're gonna have, oh you may have confusion and a lot of
86:26difficulty or sickness. Ah but there's a side of God that you have not
86:31seen yet. There is a side of God that you and I have not
86:37seen yet. Hallelujah. And He wants to expand our limits. He wants to glorify
86:43Himself. in our problems and our difficulties. Why don't you raise your
86:48hand and speak to him right now. Maybe you put a limit on God.
86:54Why don't you repent and say, God, I'm sorry. I put a label on
87:00you. I thought you can only do X, Y, Z. Oh, but I want
87:06to see more. Oh, the situation I'm in, God. It doesn't make any sense. And
87:11I feel like it's difficult for me to get out of it. But in Jesus'
87:16name, by the power of the Holy Ghost, Lord, I'm going to see you reveal
87:21your power in a deeper way. I'm going to see you different. And you're going
87:26to blow my mind. Hallelujah, there are miracles here tonight I'm gonna ask the
87:32intercessors to start praying for the people at the front the ministers to
87:37start touching and to start putting their hands on somebody who needs a
87:43breakthrough who needs a miracle from the Lord Oh He wants to reveal
87:49himself as a miracle worker as a mighty God as a powerful powerful
87:54God Hallelujah, it's
87:59Sunday night. Why don't you
88:05raise your volume right now?
88:11Oh Why don't you raise
88:17your volume? Why don't you
88:23start praying or interceding in
88:28tongues? Hallelujah, why don't you
88:34start speaking? Oh miracles in
88:40this place I can't get
