0:00that we feel through this new generation
0:05singers. Amen.

0:12>> Amen.
0:14>> You know, this church is all about
0:17moving forward.
0:20Amen. It's about young people arising
0:24and taking their place and elders
0:26arising and taking their place. Amen.
0:32>> Because there's a work that needs to be
0:34accomplished in our world today.
0:37Amen. for a few minutes if you want to
0:39stand with me and read in the word of
0:40God. We're going to read out of Acts the
0:42first chapter
0:44[Music]
0:46and we're going to read the 13th and the
0:4814th verses.
0:50It says, "And when they had entered,
0:52they went up into the upper room where
0:55there were stained Peter, James, John,
0:58Andrew Philillip Thomas Bartholomew
1:02Matthew, James, the son of Alphus,
1:05Simon the Zeilot,
1:08Judas, and the son of James." And they
1:11all continued with one accord in prayer
1:13and supplication with the women and
1:17Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his
1:20brothers. Amen. For a few minutes,
1:24maybe this is too uh fancy of a title,
1:30but it's the one mind and one accord
1:34experience.
1:37>> The one mind and the one accord
1:39experience. Now, if you want me to
1:41simplify, that's called unity.
1:47>> Unity. And God wants that in our lives.
1:50Amen. Unity.
1:52>> You may be seated here uh this morning.
1:55Now this or this evening uh this in Acts
1:58one uh uh we are looking at Jesus in the
2:04first of the chapter was telling them
2:07all the things that he wanted out of
2:09them before he ascended into heaven. And
2:13one of the things that he told them was
2:16I want you to go to an upper room.
2:20There's an upper room. And so we're
2:22reading here in the 13th and 14th verse
2:24about the disciples that were in this
2:28upper room. The Bible tells us uh that
2:30there was about 120 people in that upper
2:34room.
2:36It didn't seem like a lot probably to
2:38those that were standing around uh or
2:41were in there praying, but uh uh because
2:44the Bible tells us that the Lord had
2:46appeared unto about 500 after he was
2:50resurrected. And but there was 120 that
2:54listened to uh the voice of the Lord and
2:58went to the place that God intended for
3:01them to go. and he gave them some
3:05promises.
3:07>> He talked to them about some things that
3:10were going to happen. And it says in the
3:12eighth verse of that chapter, but you
3:15shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
3:18is to come upon you and you shall be
3:20witness to me in Jerusalem and Judea and
3:23Samaria and to the end of the earth. God
3:28promised them power.
3:34>> Now, it may not be like the power that
3:37people think about in the days that we
3:40lived in, but it was power to live
3:43right, to live in righteousness. It was
3:46power uh to be able to do the work of
3:49God uh in our earth. uh because when we
3:53find them in our text, we find them
3:56together uh praying uh before God and
4:00touching, reaching out after God so that
4:04they would be able uh to be in one
4:08accord in unity. The problem in our our
4:11society today is the fact that
4:14everybody's against everybody. And if
4:17you don't know where that's coming from,
4:23if you haven't figured out why we're in
4:26the state that we're in, if you haven't
4:28really thought about that, I I'm going
4:31to tell you that it comes uh from the
4:33enemy of mankind.
4:37>> Confusion,
4:38uh disunityity, all of that comes uh
4:42from the one that would like to see
4:43every one of us destroyed.
4:48all of mankind.
4:51And so he s he sws seeds of discord
4:57in our thoughts and our minds and in our
5:01the things that we do. And so there's
5:04all this fighting and it's not getting
5:06any better. I promise you. It's because
5:10uh the world that we live in has uh
5:14their ears attuned to the wrong things.
5:20>> The things that will bring disunityity
5:23instead of people being in one mind and
5:26one accord. See, if God had his way in
5:30this earth and in our city, in our
5:33state, in our country, in our world, if
5:36he had his way, uh everybody would love
5:39everybody.
5:44>> Everybody would care about each other if
5:47he had his way.
5:51The only way for
5:54mankind to be able uh to let God have
5:59his way is they have to be in one mind
6:03and one accord with him.
6:11Because
6:13if you line up behind him and follow
6:16him, then you're going to do the things
6:19that he wants to be accomplished in the
6:22world. I know the propaganda is that God
6:26is just trying to keep people from
6:28having fun.
6:32that he doesn't really, you know, he
6:33just wants everybody to line up in a
6:35certain way and do certain things and so
6:39that uh, you know, like he's an
6:42authoritarian or a dictator. But God is
6:45not that way. What he is trying to do is
6:48bring mankind to a place where there is
6:52what they really want and that is the
6:55love and the the care and the concern
6:59for each other and the world and people
7:02are getting along and people not
7:04fighting.
7:08That's all God wants.
7:13How many in here have children? You got
7:15children? Just raise your hand. Come on.
7:16You got children. Okay.
7:22You know what children are like, don't
7:24you?
7:29when they're younger
7:31or in their teenage years.
7:34Nobody likes anybody. And I'm talking
7:37about the siblings
7:41because they don't understand
7:44the whole process. It's all about them.
7:46It's their immaturity. It's about their
7:48life and what they want
7:51out of life. And so that they just don't
7:54understand the the value that comes from
7:58being in a unified
8:02way with each other. Now, most of the
8:05time, not all the time, but most of the
8:07time, when some of them get older, they
8:09start liking one another a little
8:11better.
8:14Yeah. And that's a good thing.
8:20It doesn't always happen, but that's the
8:22reason uh uh that we hope they grow up
8:25someday. And you know, the whole time
8:29that we're raising those children, we're
8:32trying to help them to get along. We're
8:33trying to bring unity in the family.
8:35Let's have a good time. It's just like
8:38when we used to go on vacation with my
8:40dad and mother.
8:44Uh, three of us sat in the front and two
8:48of us sat two of them sat in the back.
8:50Now, I'm going to tell you how it
8:51worked. It was me, my dad, and my middle
8:56sister. We sat in the front. And
8:59Christine,
9:02my baby sister, and my mother sat in the
9:04back. You know why we did that? So
9:06there'd be some unity.
9:10Yeah. There'd be some unity. there be
9:12some one mind in and one accord. I'm I'm
9:16not saying Christine, you know, now that
9:18she's not around to defend herself, I'm
9:21not saying that she was the problem.
9:28But there was a reason she was sitting
9:30back with the mother with my mother
9:35because that's just humanity. That's who
9:38we are. That's why we need God's spirit
9:43in our life. So that's what it says here
9:46in in Acts 1 and8 that you're going to
9:49receive the power when the Holy Ghost it
9:52comes upon you. When that spirit of God
9:55is in you because it's the spirit of God
9:58that brings a unifying factor in the
10:01lives of people. the spirit of God.
10:08>> Even in the church, even when we are
10:13choose to be with each other, even in a
10:16church, it's easy for people not to be
10:20likeminded because of the fact that I
10:23want to do this, I feel that. I have all
10:26these, you know, things that that uh is
10:29really self-centered. That's what it's
10:30all about. But God and his spirit, if we
10:33will get in unity with him, if we will
10:38pray and we will seek his face and and
10:41know what his word says and follow those
10:44things, then the things that we really
10:47want in life,
10:50>> the things that are really of value to
10:53us,
10:56we will have the power will come into
11:00our lives.
11:03You know,
11:06it says in I don't mean to get into
11:09being in marriage counseling tonight,
11:11but it says in 1 Peter
11:143 and 7, it says this, "Husbands,
11:16likewise dwell with them with
11:19understanding, giving honor to the wife
11:21and to the weaker vessel, and as being
11:23heirs together of the grace of life,
11:25that your prayers may not be hindered."
11:29Now this is written in a time where men
11:32were the dominant one.
11:36That's why Peter spoke to the men
11:40because they were the one that dominated
11:42in that era of human history.
11:46I don't think that's the way it is
11:48today.
11:51You ever sat with a group of men
11:55and listen to the things they had to
11:56say?
11:58Man, a lot of times it has it's the
12:01opposite. Now,
12:05amen. I'm just telling you the truth. If
12:08you want to understand,
12:11it's the opposite. But but the what the
12:14Lord is trying to say through Peter here
12:17in his letter was uh that if you are
12:20going to have your prayers heard, if
12:24you're not going to be hindered, what
12:27you need to do uh amen, is be in contact
12:32with God so that you will be considerate
12:35to somebody else.
12:39that you will not try to dominate
12:41somebody, that you will not try to be a
12:44dictator of some sort or another, but
12:47that you will love people. Uh, you know,
12:50when we talk about authority in the
12:53church, uh, people get all of, you know,
12:55I don't know, their stomachs get all
12:57upset, they get to worrying about that
12:59because they think, well, authority
13:01means like, you know, somebody that's
13:03over a country that's just making
13:05everybody do what they want them to do.
13:06No, no, no, no. The authority uh in the
13:09kingdom of God is about serving people.
13:17>> That's really what's supposed to happen
13:18in a family that the parents are are to
13:21serve their children. Yes, they're in
13:24authority. Yes, they can tell them what
13:27to do, but it's for their best interest.
13:30It's because they care about them. It's
13:32because they want them to go down the
13:34right path. And so it is uh God wants in
13:39the world people that are leaders uh to
13:43lead because they care about somebody.
13:52>> Not lead to get their way.
14:00lead because they care about people.
14:04In fact, I will tell you if you really
14:07want to be an influential person,
14:12you want to be real influential, you
14:14want you want the people to look up to
14:16you and you want people to follow you,
14:19and if you do, you probably shouldn't.
14:21But anyway,
14:24I'm going to tell you the secret. You
14:26know what the secret is? Serve people.
14:30serve them,
14:33help them in their time of need, be with
14:36them.
14:40And that's what God intended for
14:42mankind. So what he's trying to tell us
14:45here in the word of God is that if you
14:49will be considerate to those uh that may
14:53be under you in some fashion or another
14:57in your authority. pray. Be be good to
15:00them so that your contact with God will
15:03be the contact that you want where he
15:06hears and he listens and he accomplishes
15:11the things in your life that you need in
15:14your life.
15:20He says in the eth verse of that
15:22chapter, he says, "Finally, all of you
15:23be of one mind, having compassion for
15:27one another, love as brothers, be
15:30tenderhearted, be courteous."
15:36Peter was trying to tell people
15:40that this is how
15:42you get that one mind and one accord
15:46experience.
15:51Whether it's in your family,
15:54whether it's in your group at work,
15:57whether it is in a church body as we
16:00have here,
16:04these are the things that bring about
16:07that kind of experience in our lives.
16:16You know, there is not anything that
16:19can't be accomplished
16:22by a group of people that decide to work
16:25together.
16:30In fact, on the evil side, the Tower of
16:34Babel, we read in in the Old Testament
16:38that they the Lord said they can do
16:41whatever they want to
16:44because they all decided that but the
16:46problem was they had the wrong thing in
16:49mind and that was to thwart God bringing
16:52another flood. They wanted to get this
16:54tower so high that a flood would never
16:58kill them all again.
17:01That was their purpose, the wrong
17:03purpose. But but the Lord said and so
17:09the Bible tells us in that instance God
17:12said because they can
17:16accomplish something if they all work
17:18together. God sent different languages
17:21and all of a sudden they didn't
17:23understand each other.
17:26And so if you don't understand each
17:27other, you can't work together. And if
17:29you can't work together, you can't get
17:31accomplished what it is you want to
17:33accomplish.
17:36But the same is true on on the good
17:39side. If people that love God,
17:43people that want
17:45to have that one mind and one accord
17:48experience, that unity, if they will
17:50decide, we're going to work together
17:52here and we're going to accomplish the
17:55things that God wants us to accomplish.
17:58And I'm underlining that
18:03phrase
18:05because the reason that there was a one
18:10accord that happened on the day of
18:12Pentecost was because people got in one
18:15accord with
18:17the Lord.
18:24And because all of them had the same
18:26goal in mind is to receive the promise
18:29of the father that Jesus told them about
18:32because they were all together and
18:34seeking the face of God. The spirit of
18:36the Holy Ghost, the spirit of God,
18:40if don't let that spook you out. The
18:43spirit of the Holy Ghost or the Holy
18:45Spirit of God came and filled those
18:48people in that room, that 120 people. He
18:53filled them with the spirit of God. And
18:56if you read on into Acts, you see the
19:00great things that were accomplished by
19:03that. First 120, then 3,000, then 5,000
19:07men. It it just kept going until all of
19:12the known world at that time had
19:15received the knowledge of the spirit of
19:18God could be in their lives.
19:28And so all through the Bible, when we
19:32look at the scriptures in the New
19:34Testament, especially where the writers
19:37Paul and Peter and James and all of
19:39those that were writing letters uh to
19:43the different churches that were started
19:46uh in uh the known world,
19:50they were pleading with them because at
19:53first that great unity that was there
19:56kind of started splintering because
19:59people got far away from the center of
20:03the activity and sometimes people's
20:06ideas about what they wanted or didn't
20:09want want or uh began to be expressed.
20:13And so they were trying to tell them,
20:15hey, if you want what we got in the
20:18beginning,
20:24you got to get back to that one mind,
20:29that one accord with the Lord.
20:32The Bible says uh they were in the
20:36second chapter of Acts, it says they
20:38were in one accord when the Holy Ghost
20:42was poured out. If you want God to work
20:46in your life, you're going to have to
20:49get to the place where you're in one
20:52accord with the spirit of God and his
20:55will for your life.
21:01Oh, good things happen when you're in
21:03one accord.
21:05Things that will shape your life. Things
21:07that will cause you to go in in a good
21:11direction that will end up really
21:15bringing you to a place of what all of
21:17us want, and that is to one day live
21:20with God
21:22forever and ever. That's really what
21:23mankind wants. You know, it's funny when
21:27I listen to people talk about uh the
21:31what they say is the afterlife. I call
21:34it eternity.
21:38It's all about going to this wonderful
21:41place where there's a white light,
21:47but there's a path.
21:50See, God had a
21:53GPS system way before we ever got it.
21:58>> And he wrote in his word the things that
22:02will lead us down that path.
22:06And so if we want that where we are
22:10going to live with the Lord for
22:13eternity, we're going to have to get in
22:16one accord
22:18so that we can have the experience of
22:21being in and a part of what God is
22:27trying to do in our lives.
22:37It's easy
22:39for us to lose track of that thought.
22:43So many things are coming at us
22:44nowadays.
22:49In the olden days,
22:53I love saying that. Amen.
22:59You pretty much had to
23:02find out your information in a book
23:04somewhere.
23:09If you didn't like to read, you're in
23:11trouble.
23:13But now we have things coming at us from
23:16all different directions, media, and I
23:19mean, it's just too much to even
23:21mention. It comes at us. information.
23:24Like somebody said one time, it's like
23:26trying to drink out of fire hydrant
23:30just coming.
23:32This thinks this, that one thinks that.
23:35And and of course, the internet has just
23:38unbelievably
23:39exploded that information.
23:43And so it's easy to get off track
23:46and think, well, yeah, I'm going to go
23:48this direction. I'm going to do this.
23:49I'm gonna go over here. I'm going to
23:50believe that or or I'm going to discount
23:53that. Whatever it is that's happening to
23:56us,
23:58it's easy for us to go that way.
24:04>> But I promise you, if we determine in
24:07our lives to allow God's spirit to have
24:11influence in our life, he will give us
24:14the power to overcome
24:18every distraction that will come into
24:21our lives.
24:26and bring us back to that one mind and
24:30one accord experience of being one with
24:33him.
24:38I've lived a while for the Lord.
24:43The Lord gave me the Holy Ghost when I
24:44was eight years old.
24:49A lot of ups,
24:51a lot of downs.
24:56But the reason I'm still standing
25:00is because even in the down times, even
25:03in the times where I I I got off track
25:06or got distracted,
25:09even in those times, God
25:12because my heart was I wanted God's will
25:15in my life, God brought me back
25:20to the right path.
25:24It's impossible. The reason why people
25:27think they can't live for God is simply
25:29because they're trying to live for God
25:31on their own.
25:34They're trying to live for God and do
25:35the right thing in their own power.
25:39And God says, "If you'll get
25:43connected to me and you'll get your mind
25:48after the things that are in my mind,
25:52I will keep you. Even if you get going
25:57the wrong direction, I will bring you
25:59back."
26:01I've told our church, but those of you
26:02that are new, I'm going to say this to
26:05you, but I remember when I was a I don't
26:08know, I was pretty young. I just barely
26:11remember this, but we were in
26:13Yellowstone
26:16area
26:19and my my dad always took us on
26:21vacations, but we had we stayed in this
26:24cabin.
26:27Now I I think how could we even this
26:31happened today? But so we were in this
26:34cabin and we spent the night there. But
26:36but you know what kids do? You know,
26:39kids don't always stay where they're
26:40supposed to stay.
26:44And I remember that I ran out and and I
26:48don't know how deep it was. I think the
26:50river had kind of made a little canyon.
26:52It wasn't a huge canyon, but the river
26:55had cut out a gorge of sorts. Probably
26:58to me it was really tall. I mean, like
27:00we were, you know, 2,000 ft down, but it
27:04probably wasn't 2,000 ft.
27:06I was a little kid.
27:09And I just walked up to the edge and did
27:11this.
27:13My mother and dad were running as fast
27:16as they could
27:19to get me
27:21so I wouldn't fall over the the edge.
27:25And really, that's what God will do for
27:28us. And they they got a hold of me
27:29because I'm still here.
27:36They grabbed me.
27:41And that's what God's trying to do in
27:43people's lives.
27:45Even if you get on the edge,
27:51if God sees that you want his will in
27:54your life, and that's through your heart
27:56and your desire,
27:59God sees your heart. That's why the
28:00Bible says that God looks at the heart.
28:03You know what the that's talking about?
28:06That's talking about God sees the
28:08intentions of your life. What do you
28:11really want? Even before you come to
28:13God,
28:14maybe you don't even know about or
28:16understand about God, but God sees your
28:19heart and he draws you towards him.
28:24If you seek the face of God, I promise
28:27you, you will get in one mind and one
28:30accord
28:32with him.
28:34That's what will happen. And when that
28:36happens God
28:39will lead you and guide you and be with
28:44you and strengthen you. And if you even
28:47get close to the edge, he's going to
28:49grab you
28:53because that's what God's all about.
28:59I don't know
29:01what your feelings are.
29:05Some of you are guests tonight. I don't
29:07really know everybody and what your
29:09intentions are and what your life is
29:11about.
29:13But I do know that if you seek God
29:18and you say, "God, I want your will and
29:21your way and your truth and I want your
29:23spirit in my life."
29:26God will grant that
29:30and he will help you
29:32get on the path and stay on the path
29:37that will lead to eternal life.
29:45Just one mind, one accord.
29:49And you do that by seeking his faith.
29:52And that's what these disciples that
29:56became apostles
29:58were doing in that upper room. They were
30:01praying. They were seeking God's face.
30:05And Pentecost happened. And the world
30:08was changed. And we're here tonight
30:11because
30:13of that change that God brought into the
30:16world. Let's stand.
30:32You you know I I know that
30:36church
30:38the way church is done in the world
30:40today. Our world is changed a lot.
30:45The way church is done
30:48and
30:51But I I will tell you that the way we do
30:55things around here, it's not simply
30:57because I've got gray hair and most of
31:01it's gone.
31:03That's not why. It's because it is the
31:07way
31:09God works.
31:12I said it's the way God works.
31:16you know, our
31:20spread in the light. And then you'll see
31:22over here on the third of the light
31:24bulb, you'll see where lives are
31:26changed.

31:31The reason that we have that written
31:34down is because
31:36the good changes that God wants to do in
31:39our lives happen here because we know
31:44that it's available for us
31:48and it's available for everybody walks
31:49in the door.
31:52I don't believe that we just
31:54accidentally show up somewhere.
31:57I don't believe that because I believe
31:59God
32:01draws mankind towards him.
32:07And so if you want God to move in your
32:12life and you want to get in one mind and
32:15one accord with his plan for your life,
32:21we're not leaving this place
32:25without giving you an opportunity
32:28to talk to him.
32:32Now we invite people to the front of the
32:33church. If you're a guest, you may feel
32:38odd about that. It may scare you a
32:41little bit. I don't know. But you're
32:44welcome to come with us as we come to
32:46pray. Or you can pray where you're at.
32:52But why don't you tell the Lord how you
32:55really feel tonight? If you feel what
32:57I'm talking about, if you feel what I've
32:59been
33:01preaching about here this evening, if
33:03you feel that you want God to work in
33:05your life, you can either come and pray
33:07with us in the front or you can pray
33:09where you're at. But you just need to
33:11tell God,
33:13God, that's what I want in my life. I
33:16want to be in that place where your
33:18spirit is dwelling in me and I'm full of
33:22what you want.
33:25for my life.
33:29So, these altars are open this evening
33:31for anyone that would like to come. If
33:33you're a guest, you're more than
33:35welcome. Nothing untowards going to
33:37happen to you if you come up here. I
33:40promise you, the spirit of God is a
33:43gentleman.
33:45You're you're welcome to come if you
33:47want God to move in your life. If you
33:49want the changes, the good changes that
33:53he wants for your life, why don't you
33:55come and join us here this evening? And
33:58if not, I want you to pray where you're
34:00at while we're praying. Let's ask God to
34:04have his way in our lives. Amen. Let's
34:08worship the Lord.
