0:00So, it was quite an interesting
0:00arrangement yesterday.
0:00We want to continue our summer in the
0:01Psalms series. Today we're in Psalm 34.
0:04The uh title for today is God is so
0:08good. Somebody shout, "God is so good."
0:12God is so good.
0:17Brave camera crews
0:20often visit ganginfested communities
0:25across the United States
0:28documenting
0:30the experiences of young men and women
0:35engaged in gang culture.
0:39The common fear. Thank you media team.
0:42The sound is very Could you put your
0:43hands together for our media team
0:44everybody? Thank you so much for what
0:46you do.
0:49The common fear among those hardened
0:53gangsters
0:55was being caught lacking
0:58in ops territory.
1:02The translation for that language is
1:07they feared being completely unprepared,
1:12caught offguard or without protection
1:16in an area controlled by or frequented
1:20by rival gangs.
1:23Some spoke with sadness of family
1:26members and friends who died because
1:29they were caught lacking.
1:32Others spoke with relief and gladness of
1:36their narrow escape from such a
1:38predicament. Some with nonfatal wounds.
1:43Others because they were able to move
1:46fast enough, a gun jammed, the police
1:50showed up, or a ride or die defended
1:54their case.
1:56Well,
1:57David was no gangster.
2:00He was a man of God. However, he has a
2:03testimony of being caught lacking in ops
2:08territory and narrowly escaping with his
2:12life. The story is documented in 1
2:16Samuel's Samuel 21-22.
2:22While on the run from King Saul's
2:24jealous rage, out of food, out of
2:28options, and fearing for his life, David
2:32fled to the Philistine city of Gath.
2:36The problem was Gath was Goliath's
2:40hometown. You all remember Goliath,
2:42don't you? This was the giant that David
2:45had killed just a few years earlier.
2:49The bigger problem for David was that
2:52the priest aim him had given him the
2:55sword of Goliath. And of course he was
2:59immediately recognized as the Israelite
3:02captain who had killed Goliath and many
3:06other of their soldiers.
3:09They told the king, quote, "Is not this
3:12David, the king of the land? Did they
3:15not sing to one another in dances? Saul
3:18has slain his thousands and David his 10
3:22thousands.
3:23Recognizing that he was trapped in
3:26enemies territory and carrying the
3:30weapon of their champion that he had
3:33killed, David was gripped with fear and
3:36terror. How would you feel?
3:41So David resorted to an extreme
3:43strategy.
3:45He faked insanity.
3:47He began scratching fanatically at the
3:50city gates and allowing his saliva to
3:54run down his beard. The Barian Study
3:57Bible commenced that in ancient
3:59Neareastern culture, insanity was viewed
4:03with superstitious dread and mad men
4:06were typically shunned or driven out
4:09rather than executed. Well, the ploy
4:13worked. King Aimilec Akish was utterly
4:17disgusted and snapped at his servants.
4:20Quote, "Look, you see, the man is
4:23insane. Why have you brought him to me?
4:27Do I lack mad men that you have brought
4:30this fellow to play the madman in my
4:33presence?" Lady Neville Williams, so
4:35good to have you back in the house.
4:37Amen. Amen.
4:40The king drove David away and David
4:44escaped to the cave of Adulam.
4:47David lived to tell the tale until he
4:51did. He picked up his quill in the cave
4:55of Adulam and wrote the poem that became
4:58Psalm 34,
5:00an ode to the pure goodness of God that
5:04delivered him when death was apparent.
5:08that delivered him when there was no
5:11other help but God. He opened with a
5:15fierce and a personal commitment. I will
5:19bless the Lord at all times. His praise
5:23shall continually be in my mouth. My
5:26soul shall make its boast in the Lord.
5:30The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
5:34He declared that his praise would be
5:37constant regardless of his circumstances
5:40because when he thought that he was out
5:42of options, when he couldn't run, when
5:45the enemy surrounded him, it was God who
5:48came through for him. There are some
5:50things that God does for in our lives
5:53that we can't just forget it and move on
5:55to the next thing. We've got to say like
5:57David, God, I will bless you not just
6:01sometimes, but at all times. This is
6:04enough. Whatever else I live to go
6:07through, I live because you delivered
6:10me. I'm alive to be without a job. I'm
6:14alive to not have a car. Am I talking to
6:16anybody? But I am alive because you
6:19preserved me. So I'll bless you at all
6:21times. And if you're looking for
6:22something to boast about, you can always
6:25boast about the goodness of the Lord.
6:28By verse three, David moves outward
6:30inviting a praising community of his rag
6:34tag soldiers who had joined him in the
6:37cave and us by extension saying to us,
6:41"Oh, magnify the Lord with me and let us
6:46exalt his name together." He is saying
6:48let us broaden our view and our
6:50perspective of who God is by virtue of
6:54what God has done and let us come
6:57together to magnify the name of the
7:00Lord. He is saying don't just magnify
7:03God or worship God only for what happens
7:06to you, but we've got to have a theology
7:08that makes us worship God when he
7:11blesses other people. Am I talking to
7:13anybody here? When when when I see what
7:15God does in somebody else's life, even
7:18if I'm still waiting for God to do the
7:21same thing in my life, David says,
7:23"Broen your view of God by what he has
7:26already done." For if he is working in
7:28my life and I'm sitting near to you,
7:31then God is in the neighborhood and it's
7:33only a matter of time before God sees TO
7:36YOUR KNEES. OH, MAGNIFY THE LORD WITH me
7:39and let us exalt his name together. And
7:42then he sets out in the next several
7:44verses to explain the goodness of God
7:49that warrants the worship, the
7:51admiration, and the praise of his
7:54creatures. In verses 4 to7, David gives
7:57his personal testimony. Verse 47, he
8:00gives his personal testimony of his fear
8:03and his rescue. So that those who were
8:06not there might understand why David is
8:11praising God the way he does. Because
8:13you do know that sometime people looking
8:14at you, Lady Peach, and and they're
8:16wondering why are you getting up and
8:18sitting down? Why you keep on jumping up
8:20and clapping your hands and running
8:22around this place like you're crazy?
8:24It's because, yeah, things could have
8:25driven me crazy, but God. Hallelujah. He
8:29began to give his testimony. And notice
8:32this. He doesn't take He doesn't take
8:34any credit for himself. This is
8:36sometimes an issue for us. We We want
8:38just a little bit of the credit, Lady
8:40Kayla. We We want to say that somehow my
8:43goodness brought me out of this. My
8:45skill gave me out of this. Am I talking
8:47to anybody or am I the only person? Some
8:50Sometimes I I want just a little bit of
8:51the credit. But David says, "I will give
8:54no credit to myself. It's all about
8:56God." here. Verse four. I sought the
8:58Lord and he heard me and delivered me
9:02from my fears. Push pause. David, you
9:05had fears. David, you giant slaying
9:09captain, you have fears. David, you who
9:13killed your thousands, your 10,00ands,
9:15you have fears. He is saying that in the
9:18moment that he stood before King Akish,
9:21there was real fear in his life.
9:24Brothers and sisters, we must not deny
9:26the reality that sometimes we do feel
9:30fear. Sometime we do feel afraid.
9:33Sometime we do feel concerned because
9:35courage is not the absence of fear. It
9:39is the sense to have faith and to keep
9:42moving even when you feel the fear. It
9:45is believing in God's word that drives
9:49out the fear you feel. But we do feel
9:52some fear sometimes. Has anybody ever
9:54been in any situation and you felt real
9:57fear? All right. You won't you won't
9:59acknowledge some. Has anybody ever been
10:01driving through a neighborhood and maybe
10:03your GPS led you the wrong way
10:07and when you look you start seeing some
10:09roughl looking characters around you and
10:12immediately your left hand goes to the
10:14door. Click. Make sure those doors are
10:17locked. Make sure your windows are
10:19rolled up. and you put a little extra
10:21speed in there. Just imagine stay just a
10:24little bit over the speed limit so the
10:26cops can't get you. But you're trying to
10:28get out of there as and I mean your
10:30spidey senses are all ROYLED UP. WE ALL
10:34FEEL FEAR SOMETIMES BUT FAITH must
10:37prevail over our fears. Am I talking to
10:39anybody here? He says, "I feared but I
10:42cried unto God out of faith and God
10:46delivered me." God delivered me. God
10:48delivered you, David. You mean to tell
10:50me that God delivered you, but yet your
10:52deliverance was that you had to act
10:54crazy? You had to spit on yourself. You
10:57had to come out of there scratching the
10:59doors. You had to leave with the sound
11:02of your opponents laughing at you,
11:05saying, "Look what has happened to him,
11:07and he claims that he is a man of God."
11:09Lean in here for a second. Sometimes the
11:12delivering power and work of God in your
11:15lives will not be with the prolific uh
11:19victory of people singing your praises.
11:22Sometimes the victory will make you look
11:24foolish. Sometimes the victory of not
11:27answering somebody who you want to tell
11:30a piece of your mind is keeping quiet
11:32and making everybody think you're an
11:34idiot. But but but but but but it is a
11:37deliverance anyway because you don't
11:39know how much what it could have cost
11:41you had you answered back. I think a lot
11:44of us would have still had a good job,
11:46would have still had a good man, a good
11:47woman if we knew how to just keep our
11:50mouth shut and look the fool but win in
11:54the end. Am I talking to anybody in this
11:56place?
11:59But look at verse five because verse 5
12:01helps us to understand why we can
12:05sometimes look like we are crazy but we
12:08still win. Verse five, they looked to
12:11him and were radiant and their faces
12:14were not ashamed. He's saying here uh
12:17how you ultimately feel about how you
12:21look depends on where your focus is. If
12:25you focus on the opposition and what
12:27they're saying and their derision and
12:28their mockery, you may feel like a
12:30loser. But if you focus on the bigger
12:33plan of God, then you will realize that
12:37I have no need to be ashamed. David, you
12:40came out of there as a madman. You, the
12:42giant slaying David, the husband of the
12:46king's daughter, you the anointed of God
12:49who is next for the throne. You mean to
12:51tell me that you didn't bind and decree
12:54and declare and cuss all of them out
12:56before you got out of there? No. But you
12:58came out spitting on you. He said, I
13:00CAME OUT THAT WAY and I DIDN'T FEEL
13:03ASHAMED BECAUSE I SAW THE BIGGER PLAN OF
13:05GOD. I saw THAT IF I JUST ALLOW MYSELF
13:09to look crazy and ALLOW THEM TO LAUGH at
13:11me, I WOULD LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY.
13:14And those same people WOULD HAVE TO BOW
13:16TO ME JUST years later. Am I TALKING TO
13:19ANYBODY? SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO TAKE the
13:21low road SO THAT THE VICTORY THAT GOD
13:24WANTS IN YOUR LIFE CAN be accomplished.
13:28Am I talking to anybody here? But if you
13:31keep your eyes on Jesus, you will not be
13:34ashamed because he will vindicate you in
13:36the long run. The same people who
13:39laughed at you will turn around and have
13:42to say, "My God, I didn't know what God
13:45was doing in your life back then.
13:50Verse six, this poor man cried and the
13:53Lord heard him saved him out of all his
13:56troub I I don't understand all of these
13:58descriptions for yourself. This poor
14:00man, he's talking about himself. David,
14:02you are the Lord's anointed.
14:05But you must understand, and we must get
14:07this, that sometimes the best place for
14:11the Lord's anointed to be in a is in a
14:14place where we are poor. Not necessarily
14:16financially, but poor in spirit. Because
14:20we won't cry out to God if we're not
14:22poor in spirit. Can you imagine if David
14:25had felt like he is big and bold and
14:28brave and I have the sword of Goliath
14:30and he just started to wield that sword
14:32in a weakened state, in a hungry state.
14:35What might have happened to him? He
14:37might have been speared, but he might
14:39have been speared with serious injuries.
14:41Am I talking to anybody here? Sometimes
14:43we just need to be poor in spirit to
14:46humble ourselves because humility is
14:49often the best way to fight back. I hear
14:52the Lord saying that I resist the proud
14:55but I give grace to those who humble
14:58themselves. FOR THOSE WHO EXALT
15:00themselves shall be humbled, but those
15:03who humble themselves in only a matter
15:07of time you will be exalted. Can you
15:10humble yourself when you know that God
15:12is for you? No. No. No. No. No. C. Can
15:16you humble yourself when you know that
15:18you're in the right?
15:21No. C. CAN CAN YOU HUMBLE YOURSELF
15:24BEFORE THAT BOSS? THOUGH YOU KNOW YOU'RE
15:26anointed and God has spoken to you about
15:28your own business that you're GOING TO
15:30START. CAN YOU HUMBLE YOURSELF AND HOLD
15:33ON TO THAT JOB LONG ENOUGH SO God can do
15:36in you what he's trying to do and not
15:39say take your job and
15:43I almost felt Willie Nelson just now
15:50I I didn't say it Lady Dica I just said
15:52take your job
15:55take your job and keep it
15:58and in verse seven he gets to the peak
15:59of his testimony he said he SAID HERE
16:02THE ANGEL OF the Lord hallelujah ENCAMPS
16:06ROUND ABOUT THOSE who fear him and
16:09deliver them. This this word encamps
16:10literally means that God sets up a
16:13military garrison. God sets God comes in
16:16when the po when the poor man cried when
16:18we humble ourselves wherever we are and
16:21we cry out to God in desperation. God
16:24comes in and pitches a military tent
16:28around you so that the enemies, they can
16:31laugh at you. They can mock you, but
16:33they can't touch you. THEY CAN'T DESTROY
16:35WHAT GOD IS DOING IN YOUR LIFE.
16:40Let them laugh if they want to.
16:41Hallelujah. But you don't know that an
16:43angel of the Lord is in camp run about
16:45me. Oh, brothers and sisters, this is
16:47this is the military strategy of holy
16:50war. It is where we allow the enemy to
16:52attack first. Now when they attack, THE
16:55SPIRIT OF God will raise up a standard.
16:58God will say a standard was a a war flag
17:01that was raised. WHEN GOD DETERMINED TO
17:04ATTACK, GOD SAYS IF THEY COME AT YOU
17:07LIKE a flood, if they talk about you,
17:09that's fine. You can endure talking
17:11about you can endure your ego being
17:13bruised. But now if they try to touch
17:15you, it's a different matter. BECAUSE
17:16WHEN THEY TRY TO TOUCH YOU, THAT'S WHEN
17:19I'M GOING TO RAISE MY FLAG and they will
17:21feel the wrath OF THE VENGEANCE OF GOD.
17:25God protects his people. He protects his
17:28people. He surrounds his people. When
17:31you are surrounded, know that God is
17:33surrounding you. God is forming a force
17:36field shield between you and the
17:39opposition.
17:40He surrounds his people. Then in verses
17:438 to 10, David issues an experiential
17:45challenge. He says to them in VERSE 8,
17:48"OH, TASTE and see that the Lord is
17:51good." Do don't just take my word for
17:53it. I want you to taste and see that the
17:56Lord is good. Now, I have a a little bit
17:59of a challenge with this. I I I have a
18:01little bit of a challenge with this
18:02because you see taste tyamu is it it
18:05it's it's it's it's one of the more
18:08intimate
18:09and internal
18:12senses of the body. Seeing is distant.
18:17You don't it doesn't have to come near
18:19to me for me to see it, but it has to be
18:21very near and intentional for me to
18:24taste it. Now, conventional wisdom says
18:29I MUST SEE IT FIRST before I taste it.
18:32In fact, I want to see it and smell it
18:36and then if it is palatable TO MY SIGHT
18:38AND MY SMELL, THEN I'LL TASTE IT. David
18:41says, "Not so with God." You can't have
18:44deep interpersonal revelation and wisdom
18:49in God BY LOOKING AT HIM AT AT A
18:52DISTANCE. NO, YOU GOT TO TASTE HIM. You
18:54you've got to ta in other words, GOD
18:56WILL NOT SHOW YOU ALL THE THINGS YOU'VE
18:59GOT to go through. AM I TALKING TO
19:00ANYBODY? YOU YOU JUST TASTE HIM. YOU GOT
19:03TO TASTE HIM IN THE BITTERNESS OF YOUR
19:05LIFE, IN THE DARKNESS OF YOUR
19:07EXPERIENCES. BUT WHEN YOU TASTE HIM
19:10THERE, YOU COME OUT SAYING, "I SEE THAT
19:12GOD IS GOOD." AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY
19:14HERE? WHEN YOU TASTE GOD, BECAUSE A LOT
19:16OF TIMES IF GOD WOULD LET US SEE the
19:19bitter trials, Lady Ta, WE WOULD NEVER
19:22TASTE IT. BUT IF GOD BLINDFOLDS US AND
19:25SAID, "TASTE IT." I feel like preaching
19:27IN THIS PLACE, THEN YOU COME OUT SAYING,
19:30"GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO ME CUZ I WENT IN
19:33HERE, BUT GOD DELIVERED ME OUT OF IT
19:36ALL." Oh my goodness. I feel like
19:39sometimes some of us don't have a deeper
19:42revelation of God because we're TRYING
19:44TO SEE BEFORE WE TASTE. GOD IS SAYING,
19:46"I NEED YOU TO PUT A BLINDFOLD ON YOU. I
19:49want you to come into the kitchen and I
19:51WANT YOU TO ALLOW ME TO LET YOU TASTE
19:54SOME THINGS. AND WHILE YOU'RE TASTING
19:55IT, I'LL SHOW YOU MY GOODNESS IN THE
19:58MIDDLE OF IT. SO WHEN I TAKE THE
19:59BLINDFOLD OFF, YOU'LL LOOK AT AND SAY,
20:01"MY GOD, THIS THING LOOKS UGLY, BUT I
20:03SEE IN IT THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD." IS
20:07THERE ANYBODY HERE WHO has gone through
20:08something ugly? You just drifted into
20:10it, but now you come out and you can say
20:12like ANDRE CROUCH, I THANK GOD FOR THE
20:15MOUNTAINS. I THANK HIM FOR THE VALLEYS.
20:17I THANK HIM FOR THE BREAKUP. I THANK HIM
20:20FOR THE LOST JOB BECAUSE NOW I SEE WHAT
20:23FAITH IN THE WORD OF GOD CAN DO. TASTE
20:26HIM AND SEE THAT GOD IS GOOD.
20:30>> HALLELUJAH. Verses 9 and 10 tells us
20:32that there is no lack, no want to those
20:36who fear God, who trust God. He will
20:38allow God to lead them to tasting and
20:41then seeing that he is good. Remember
20:43this. If the Lord is your shepherd, YOU
20:46SHALL NOT LACK ANYTHING. IF THE LORD IS
20:49YOUR SHEPHERD, WHATEVER HE LEADS YOU
20:51into will be for your good. It may taste
20:54bitter. It may taste sour. IT MAY TASTE
20:56SPOILED AS YOUNG PEOPLE MAY SAY. IT MAY
20:58TASTE GHETTO. BUT HERE'S THE DEAL. IF
21:01GOD IS WITH YOU AND ON YOUR SIDE, IT
21:03WILL SHOW YOU THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD.
21:07HAHA. Somebody lift your hand and thank
21:10GOD FOR THE TIMES HE BLINDFOLDED YOU. HE
21:13ALLOWED troubles to catch YOU OUT OF
21:14NOWHERE. YOU DIDN'T SEE IT COMING. BUT
21:17WHEN YOU WENT THROUGH IT, YOU SAID, "I
21:18SAW THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD. IF I SAW
21:20THIS, I NEVER WOULD HAVE STARTED." BUT I
21:23THANK GOD YOU BLINDED MY EYES TO THE
21:25TROUBLE. SO WHEN I WENT IN THERE, I SAW
21:28YOUR GOODNESS ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL. AND
21:29MY PRAISE IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL. CUZ I CAN
21:32SAY THAT THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD, HE'S
21:35MY GOOD SHEPHERD. AND I SHALL NOT WANT.
21:37HE'LL MAKE ME LACK NOTHING.
21:41Somebody shout, I shall not want.
21:44>> But then the the the psalm transitions
21:46from experience to ethics in verses 11
21:49to 14. Because you see, brothers and
21:50sisters, true worship must always lead
21:54to life transformation.
21:56Experience of God are not random. They
21:59are there to settle us out on a path of
22:04becoming more like God.
22:08Brothers and sisters, this is a
22:10challenge I have with the idea that
22:14every time every day we wake up, we must
22:17see some spectacular miracle.
22:22We are always looking for the next
22:25experience.
22:26But God is saying,
22:28"I want the experience
22:32to lead you to settled living.
22:36I don't want my people to be running
22:38after the next experience. I need you to
22:42intentionally pursue living the
22:45transformed life." Oh, I feel the Holy
22:47Ghost here. So, in verses 11 to 14,
22:50David teaches on the ethics of God's
22:52goodness. He he teaches here because
22:53there is there is a connection between
22:55teaching and spiritual formation to be
22:58to be formed spiritually uh means that
23:01the character of God must be formed in
23:04us. God wants his worshippers to emulate
23:08him. He says to Moses, he says to Moses,
23:12be holy for I am holy. Be merciful for I
23:17am merciful. IN OTHER WORDS, WHATEVER IS
23:20THE ESSENCE OF MY CHARACTER, those who
23:23experience me, I need you to take time
23:27to learn me and to live me in your life.
23:30Your life is the best worship you can
23:32give to God. So David calls the people
23:34together. Come children, listen to me
23:37and I will teach you the fear of the
23:39Lord. He teaches then in verses 11 to 14
23:42the good God-fearing life. What does the
23:45good God-fearing life look like? Those
23:48who have been delivered by God, those
23:50who are worshippers of God, what what
23:52does what should our life look like when
23:55we come out of a worship experience when
23:58we leave church today and we're living
24:00this week, what should be the hallmark
24:02of our lives? That's what he's getting
24:04to in these verses. He says, first of
24:06all, you got to learn to keep your
24:08tongue from evil. Can we go back to what
24:10I what I was talking about earlier that
24:12a lot of us have talked ourselves out of
24:14a good job, a good marriage, uh-huh,
24:18good relationships,
24:20opportunities for God to use us. He's
24:23saying he's saying you got to learn to
24:25keep your tongue from speaking evil. And
24:28he's saying here, those who are aware
24:30that God is with them, you don't have to
24:32cuss anybody out. You don't have to tell
24:35everybody a piece of your mind. Lean in
24:37here for a second. Everybody on social
24:40media does not need to know about a
24:43PRIVATE CONVERSATION YOU HAD WITH
24:46SOMEBODY IN YOUR HOUSE OR in your
24:48church. A lot of us need to learn HOW TO
24:51KEEP OUR SPEECH under control BY THE
24:54HAND. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY HERE? YOU
24:57on social media DOGGING OUT EVERYBODY.
25:00GOD IS SAYING TO YOU, YOU NEED TO LEARN
25:03GET A GRIP ON YOUR SPEECH.
25:08Keep your tongue from evil. Notice this
25:11that even when Saul was pursuing David
25:14and people WERE SAYING, "LET'S KILL SAUL
25:17WHEN YOU HAVE THE CHANCE," he said, "No,
25:19no, no, no. I will not touch the Lord's
25:21anointed." Now, this is rich because
25:24David knew he was anointed.
25:27He had seen the spirit of the Lord
25:30depart from Saul and rest on him. But he
25:33said, "Don't touch him because he is
25:35God's anointed." Can I tell you this
25:37brothers and sisters? I want to say to
25:39you, don't speak evil of others. Why?
25:42Because they are bearers of the image of
25:45God. Every one of us in the house are
25:48imagebearers.
25:50If somebody does wrong to you, take it
25:54TO GOD IN PRAYER. BUT DON'T WALK AROUND
25:57trying to SCANDAL PERSON. AM I TALKING
25:59TO ANYBODY? AND AND THEN HERE'S the
26:01deal. A after a while your relationship
26:03with the person improves
26:06but all the people you done told all the
26:08bad stuff about your husband I mean the
26:10person
26:13YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS CAN'T LOVE YOUR
26:15HUSBAND ANYMORE BECAUSE OF ALL THE BAD
26:17THINGS YOU HAVE ALREADY TOLD THEM AND
26:19AND IN THE MEANTIME YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND
26:22IN THERE HAVING YOUR GOOD TIMES AND HE'S
26:24STILL catching hell from your family.
26:28>> Keep your tongue from evil. Keep your
26:31lips from speaking lies and deceit.
26:33Verse 13b. In other words, evil is is
26:36just really being malicious. But then
26:38deceit here is telling lies, halftruths,
26:43to deceive.
26:45He's saying don't do that. Now, now how
26:47do we accomplish this? We may need to
26:50pray the prayer of Psalm 141 and verse
26:53three. Can we be honest that all of us
26:55in here we struggle with not speaking
26:56evil? that all of us in here, we
26:59struggle with not telling lies.
27:02Uh-huh.
27:04It's like the time I was a teacher and I
27:06was a little late for work.
27:08And yes, there was a traffic there was
27:11an accident and there was a traffic jam
27:14that made me later,
27:16but I was already late. But when I got
27:19there, you best believe I told him, "My
27:20god, there was a traffic jam." AND
27:22BECAUSE THEY HEARD ABOUT it because of
27:23an accident ON THE BRIDGE. BECAUSE THEY
27:25HEARD ABOUT IT, THEY THEY THEY FORGAVE
27:27ME. BUT HERE'S THE DEAL. IT WAS A LIE.
27:29IT WAS NOT I'M DOING DON'T ACT LIKE I'm
27:31the only one in here. THERE'S A LOT OF
27:33US IN HERE THAT WE TELL SOME HALFTRUTHS.
27:35AND DAVID is saying the only way for us
27:38to not do that is to pray the prayer of
27:40Psalm 1441 and:3 that says, "Set a
27:44guard, O Lord, over my mouth. Keep watch
27:47over the doors of my lips, for this
27:49tongue IS SLIPPERY. BUT GOD, IF YOU CAN
27:52HELP ME, I WILL SAY THE RIGHT THINGS AND
27:55DO THE RIGHT THINGS.
27:58HALLELUJAH. Turn away from sin and do
28:01that which is good. You see, the
28:03transformed life is as much about what
28:06we're turning away from as it is what
28:09we're turning away toward. Doesn't leave
28:11us in a vacuum. To do to not do evil, we
28:15must do good. What is good? We may ask.
28:17Micah 6:8 answer the question. HE HAS
28:20TOLD YOU MORTAL ONE WHAT IS GOOD and
28:23what does the Lord require of you but to
28:26do justice to love kindness and to walk
28:29in humility with your God. If we want to
28:32know what is the right thing, the good
28:34thing to do in any situation, go to the
28:37word of God and ask God, show me out of
28:40your word, what is the right principle,
28:43what is the right action, what is the
28:45right behavior I need to have in a
28:48moment like this part that really gets
28:50me is where he says, "Actively seek and
28:54pursue peace." These words pursue and
28:57seek, bakash and uh radaf literally
29:02means to search eagerly
29:05to pursue peace LIKE A MILITARY army
29:11runs after an enemy.
29:14GO AFTER PEACE
29:17LIKE you would go after like uh the US
29:19military would go after uh any of the
29:22the world's most notorious leaders and
29:25despots. HE SAYS GO AFTER PEACE PURSUE
29:29AFTER. NOW THIS says two things
29:31immediately. One that peace can be very
29:33elusive
29:35that we can lose peace easier than we
29:38can keep it. Uhhuh. But we must also on
29:42the other hand be very intentional to
29:46run after peace, to go after peace. If
29:49that means keeping your mouth quiet, if
29:51that means literally slapping a hand
29:53over your mouth and leaving the room
29:56until your temper has calmed down. But
29:59he said, "Go after peace." And and
30:00Romans 12:18 puts it this way. If
30:03possible, as much AS RELY ON YOU, BE AT
30:07PEACE WITH EVERYBODY. PURSUE IT WITH ALL
30:11YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL
30:14YOUR MIND. IT'S FRAGILE. BUT IF YOU WANT
30:16IT, PURSUE PEACE.
30:19Go after peace. Somebody shout, "Go
30:20after peace." But but there one more
30:22thought on this before I leave this
30:24point and close this message here. One
30:25more thought on this word peace. This
30:26word peace, shalom, it's not just the
30:29absence of conflict. It speaks to a
30:32wholeness of life. It's it's it's living
30:36a whole life. It is it is being whole
30:39within yourself and and wholeness within
30:42yourself will lead to wholeness within
30:44your marriage, within your family,
30:46within your ministry, within your job.
30:48He is saying this, go after wholeness
30:50firstly within yourself. Seek being
30:54WHOLE WITHIN. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY
30:56HERE? I is there anybody who desires to
30:58be whole? That means if there's anything
31:00in me that needs to be healed, I NEED TO
31:03GO TO GOD and say, "Heal me, Lord. Make
31:06me whole." BECAUSE I CAN'T HAVE
31:08WHOLESOME RELATIONSHIPS if I am not
31:10whole. I can't HAVE A WHOLESOME JOB if I
31:13am not whole. I can't have a WHOLESOME
31:15MINISTRY IF I AM NOT WHOLE. Is there
31:17anybody in this house that want to get
31:19your hand up to God right now and say,
31:21"God, MAKE ME WHOLE. MAKE MY HEART
31:23WHOLE. MAKE MY MIND WHOLE. MAKE MY LIFE
31:26WHOLE. SO THAT EVERYTHING YOU PUT IN MY
31:29LIFE CAN REFLECT THE WHOLENESS that I
31:32have in the Lord. Hallelujah.
31:35Let me close. The last point is verses
31:3715 to 22. He moves from testifying of
31:41the experience of God's goodness and
31:43teaching on the ethics of God's goodness
31:44to now trusting in the eternality of
31:48God's goodness. He's saying to us, God's
31:51goodness is everlasting. Hallelujah. His
31:54goodness is eternal. God is good not
31:57only in time but in eternity. God's face
32:02he says is on the righteous on the e and
32:04the evil verses 15 to 16. But but it's
32:08different ways in YOU SEE THE EYES OF
32:10THE LORD ARE ON THE RIGHTEOUS. THIS HERE
32:12is the word we talked about last week.
32:15That is to say that God has a constant
32:17watch care over his people. He he he
32:21keeps his people. Is there anybody who
32:23can testify in the house that God keeps
32:26HIS PEOPLE? GOD'S GOD'S EYE is on the
32:29sparrow. Why should I feel discouraged?
32:32And why should the SHADOWS FALL? WHY
32:36SHOULD MY HEART BE LONELY AND JUST
32:39LONGING FOR HEAVEN AND HOME WHEN JESUS
32:43HE IS MY PORTION? Can anybody testify? A
32:46CONSTANT FRIEND. HIS is he HIS EYE IS ON
32:51THE SPARROW. AND I KNOW DOES ANYBODY
32:54KNOW IN THIS HOUSE? DOES DOES ANYBODY
32:57KNOW IN THIS HOUSE THAT GOD IS ALWAYS
33:00watching over you? Can I tell you? HE
33:03THAT KEEPETH YOU WILL NEVER SLUMBER NOR
33:05SLEEP. HIS EYELIDS NEVER CLOSE. HE NEVER
33:08GOES TO SLEEP. HIS EYES ARE ALWAYS ON
33:11HIS CHILDREN, UPON HIS PEOPLE. HE'S
33:14ALWAYS WATCHING OVER YOU.
33:17HALLELUJAH. He's always watching over
33:20you. But his eyes, hallelujah, are also
33:23against those that do evil. So, he's
33:26watching you to care for you, but he's
33:28watching those who are evil to correct
33:30them, to turn them around. And here's
33:32the deal. Don't don't DON'T YOU GET
33:34DISCOURAGED BY THEIR SEEMING PROSPERITY
33:36AND their success. The Lord says that if
33:38they don't turn around, then God is
33:41going to cut off their remembrance from
33:43the earth. It's only a matter of time
33:45before God removes them out of the way
33:47and NOBODY WILL REMEMBER ABOUT THEM. Am
33:50I talking to anybody here? YOU JUST KEEP
33:52ON doing good because if you keep ON
33:55DOING GOOD, GOD IS GOING TO EXALT you in
33:58due time. And that person who seems to
34:01be DOING EVERYTHING WRONG AND FIGHTING
34:03AGAINST YOU BUT SEEM TO BE PROSPERING on
34:05the job, you let them be that way. You
34:08keep on loving God. YOU KEEP ON LOVING
34:11THEM. YOU KEEP ON HOLDING YOUR PEACE AND
34:14LETTING THE LORD FIGHT YOUR BATTLE
34:16BECAUSE WHEN GOD GETS THEM, IF THEY DO
34:19NOT REPENT, THEY WILL NOT EVEN BE
34:21REMEMBERED WHEN THEY GET FIRED. AM I
34:23TALKING TO ANYBODY HERE? I FEEL LIKE
34:25PREACHING IN HERE, BUT GOD IS H GOD HAS
34:28A way of LIFTING UP THE BOWED DOWN
34:31HEADS. GOD HAS A WAY OF LIFTING UP THE
34:34DOWNTRODDEN IN HIS DUE TIME.
34:38Can anybody testify in here that God
34:40lifted my head? Hallelujah. He lifted my
34:43head. God favors the righteous. The
34:46righteous cry out and the Lord hears
34:48them and delivers them out of all their
34:50troubles. The Lord is near to those who
34:53have a broken heart and save such as be
34:56of a contrite spirit. The word broken
34:58and contrite here literally means to be
35:00crushed, to be crushed AND TO BE
35:02TRAMPLED UPON. AND THE PSALMIST IS
35:04SAYING THAT WHEN LIFE CRUSHES YOU, WHEN
35:07LIFE SEEM LIKE IT IS SMASHING YOU and
35:09you FEEL LIKE THERE IS NO WAY OUT, HE
35:11SAYS YOU need to know this that God,
35:14hallelujah, is near to those who are
35:16broken. He is near to those who ARE
35:19CRUSHED BY LIFE. He is near to those who
35:23feel contrite in their hearts. Why?
35:25Because when you have no other option or
35:27no other alternative, when there's
35:29NOBODY TO CRY ON, THEN you call on the
35:32name of the Lord. Am I talking to
35:34anybody here? AND YOU CAN SAY, "GOD is
35:38he is my refuge AND MY STRENGTH." DO I
35:40HAVE A WITNESS IN THE HOUSE? COME ON,
35:41MUSICIAN. LET'S GO HERE. GOD is my
35:44refuge and he is my strength. HE IS MY
35:48VERY present help in trouble. Come on,
35:52TELL A NEIGHBOR RIGHT QUICK. SAY,
35:53"NEIGHBOR, God is my refuge and my
35:57strength. He is MY VERY present help in
36:04trouble, in the MIDDLE OF TROUBLE, WHEN
36:07I WAS CRUSHED, WHEN I WAS DOWN TO THE
36:10GROUND, WHEN I FELT LIKE I WAS ABOUT TO
36:12LOSE IT ALL, GOD CAME IN FOR ME.
36:18I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST in here. They tell
36:20the story of a man, come on, Lady Kim,
36:22who was getting ready to drown and the
36:25SWIMMER WAS THE LIFEGUARD was on the
36:28bank and he watched the man as he
36:30struggled against the currents of the
36:32water and he watched the man as he went
36:35down a few times. You know, THEY SAY YOU
36:37go down about three times BEFORE THE
36:40DROWNING UH DIP. HE SAID he watched him
36:43and they said to the man, the swimmer,
36:45the lifeguard, they said to him, "Are
36:47you going to let him drown and he stood
36:49there and he watched the man and he
36:52watched him, Elder Raman, he watched him
36:54until he went down AND COULDN'T COME UP.
36:57THEN HE DIVED IN THE WATER, SWAM OUT
37:00THERE AND GRABBED HIM AND PULLED HIM
37:02IN." He asked, they asked him, "Why did
37:05you wait so long to save him?" He said I
37:08had to wait until his strength gave out
37:12BECAUSE IF I'D GONE OUT THERE EARLY, HE
37:15WOULD HAVE PULLED US BOTH DOWN. SO I HAD
37:17TO WAIT UNTIL HIS STRENGTH GAVE OUT. I
37:21HAD TO WAIT UNTIL HE STOPPED FIGHTING. I
37:25HAD TO WAIT UNTIL HE STOPPED DEFENDING
37:28HIMSELF. WELL, LEAN IN HERE WITH YOUR
37:30RIGHTEOUS SELF. LET ME TELL YOU WHAT GOD
37:32IS SAYING. HE SAID, "I'M WAITING UNTIL
37:35YOU STOP TRYING TO FIGHT FOR YOURSELF.
37:38I'M WAITING UNTIL YOU STOP TRYING TO
37:40DEFEND YOURSELF. I'M waiting until you
37:44stop trying to tell everybody off. AND
37:46WHEN YOU'RE CRUSHED, AND WHEN YOU'RE
37:48BROKEN, AND WHEN YOU GIVE UP AND THROW
37:51YOUR ARMS UP, THEN I'M COMING IN TO GET
37:54YOU OUT. I FEEL LIKE preaching in here.
37:57Be still and know
38:01THAT I AM GOD. HOLD YOUR peace and let
38:06the Lord fight YOUR BATTLE FOR THE
38:09BATTLE IS NOT YOURS. IT BELONGS TO GOD.
38:14NUDGE YOUR NEIGHBOR AND SAY, "NEIGHBOR,
38:18HOLD YOUR PEACE. HOLD YOUR peace and God
38:22will fight for you. Hold your PEACE
38:25BECAUSE GOD WILL BRING YOU OUT HOME.
38:31I feel the Holy Ghost in here. I feel
38:33the Holy Ghost in here. He said, "Many
38:37are the afflictions of the righteous,
38:39but God delivers them OUT OF THEM ALL."
38:43IS THERE ANYBODY in this place that can
38:46say, "I'VE HAD MANY AFFLICTIONS. I'VE
38:48HAD MANY TEARS AND SORROWS. I'VE HAD
38:50QUESTIONS FOR TOMORROW. I'VE HAD BILLS I
38:53COULDN'T PAY. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS I
38:56COULDN'T TALK ABOUT. MANY ARE THE
38:59AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS. BUT God
39:02delivers him. DELIVERS HER OUT OF THEM
39:07ALL. VERSE 20 GETS ME. HE KEEPS ALL his
39:11bones.
39:13Not one of them is broken. I know this
39:16is talking prophetically ABOUT JESUS
39:19CHRIST WHOSE BONES WERE NOT BROKEN ON
39:21THE CROSS. I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST HERE,
39:24BUT IT'S ALSO ABOUT DAVID. David is
39:27saying, "I'VE been afflicted.
39:31I'VE BEEN BATTERED. I'VE BEEN SCARRED,
39:34BEEN LIED ON, TALKED ABOUT, BEEN DIRTY.
39:39HAD TO ACT A FOOL BEEN hungry but I KEEP
39:43ALL MY BONES. I FEEL LIKE PREACHING
39:46HERE. I WAS ABLE TO WALK OUT OF IT. I
39:50WAS ABLE TO GO THROUGH LIFE WITHOUT
39:52LIMPING. LEANING HERE FOR A SECOND. YOU
39:56MAY HAVE FALLEN. YOU MAY HAVE BEEN
39:59THROWN DOWN TO THE GROUND. BUT here's
40:01the deal. YOU STILL HAVE ALL YOUR BONES.
40:04I FEEL LIKE preaching here. THEY HAVE
40:06TALKED ABOUT YOU, Lady Anmarie, BUT YOU
40:09STILL GOT YOUR CHARACTER. I feel him
40:11here. They have lied on you, BUT YOU
40:13STILL GOT YOUR FAITH. IS THERE ANYBODY
40:16HERE THAT CAN SAY, "I STILL HAVE MY JOY
40:20in the Lord." That's why he could say,
40:23"I FEEL LIKE PREACHING IN THIS PLACE. I
40:26WILL BLESS the Lord at all times and his
40:31praise
40:35shall continually be in my mouth. For
40:38evil shall slay the wicked. The evil
40:42WILL FALL IN THE VERY PIT THAT he laid
40:45for you. He will PURSUE YOU SO DEARLY
40:49THAT HIS OWN SIN will kill him. HIS OWN
40:52ANGER WILL BRING HIM DOWN. BUT THOSE
40:56THAT TRUST IN THE LORD, HE REDEEMS THEIR
40:59SOULS, AND NONE OF THEM THAT TRUST IN
41:01HIM SHALL be condemned. That is to SAY,
41:05IF YOU WAIT ON GOD, HE WILL SAVE YOU. He
41:10will deliver you. For they that wait,
41:15I'VE GOT TO CLOSE HERE. UPON THE LORD
41:18shall
41:20renew THEIR STRENGTH. THEY SHALL MOUNT
41:23UP with wings LIKE EAGLES. THEY shall
41:29run
41:30and not be weary. They shall walk AND
41:34NOT FAINT. SLAP SOMEBODY HIGH FIVE AND
41:37SAY, "NEIGHBOR, WAIT ON THE LORD." JUST
41:40WAIT ON HIM. WHILE THEY TALK, YOU WAIT.
41:43WHILE THEY FIGHT, YOU WAIT. WHILE THEY
41:46LAUGH, YOU WAIT. FOR IF YOU WAIT,
41:49HE'LL BRING YOU OUT. HE'LL BRING YOU
41:52THROUGH. HE'LL BRING YOU OVER. HE'LL
41:56BRING YOU ALL THE WAY.
42:00Clap your hands and praise God in here.
42:03Praise God in here. You will NOT BE
42:06CONDEMNED. YOU WILL NEVER BE CONDEMNED.
42:09AS I CLOSE, I HEAR DAVID PICKING IT UP
42:11HERE. HE SAYS, "THERE IS therefore now
42:15no condemnation
42:16to those WHO ARE IN CHRIST JESUS, who do
42:20not walk according TO THE FLESH, BUT
42:23ACCORDING to the spirit. For the LAW OF
42:26THE SPIRIT OF LIFE IN CHRIST JESUS HAS
42:30MADE ME FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND
42:35DEATH." IF YOU WAIT ON GOD, IF YOU TRUST
42:38IN GOD, GOD WILL DELIVER YOU so
42:42completely, SO TOTALLY THAT NO MATTER
42:45WHAT THEY SAY, NO MATTER WHAT THEY PLAN
42:47AGAINST YOU, HERE'S THE DEAL. THEY CAN
42:50NEVER EVER BRING YOU DOWN AGAIN.
42:54Neither in time nor eternity. So lift
42:57your hand with me in the house one more
42:59time as we close and say, "I will bless
43:01the Lord at all times." Hallelujah. and
43:03his praise shall continually be in my
43:07mouth. Hallelujah. My soul, how God
43:11shall make her halal. Her boast in the
43:15Lord. I won't keep this quiet. THE
43:19HUMBLE SHALL HEAR it
43:22and be glad.
43:28Hallelujah.
43:29Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord,
43:32for your goodness. Thank you for your
43:34goodness. I am committed to blessing God
43:39at all times. I want to open this altar
43:41today to somebody, someone
43:44who you need to come to experience the
43:47goodness of God for yourself. You've
43:50heard everybody's testimony, but you
43:53need to leave this house today saying,
43:55"I know him for myself." Hallelujah. And
43:57I can testify God is so good. You need
44:01to run to this altar today and taste
44:03him. Get a taste of him through the Holy
44:06Ghost. Get a taste of him through the
44:09sanctification of your life. AND I
44:12PROMISE YOU THIS, YOU may still go
44:15through some troubles. But here's the
44:17deal. God will always and ultimately
44:22deliver you out of all of them. Not only
44:26in time, but the best the greatest
44:28deliverance that God has. Come on,
44:29praise the worshippers. The greatest
44:31deliverance that God has for the
44:34redeemed is when he delivers them from
44:37the sin sick world. Brings them into the
44:40eternal glories of the Lord where we
44:43will worship God without intermission.
44:46We'll worship God without tiredness of
44:48bodies. We'll worship God without time
44:50constraints.
44:51What a day that will be. I want to
44:54invite somebody to the alt today.
44:55Somebody who need to taste God for

51:16May we never ever stop
51:19blessing the Lord. David said for him,
51:22this is a lifetime commitment. I'll
51:25bless him at all times and his praise
51:30shall continually be in my mouth. Why?
51:33Because God is so absolutely
51:38good. Even when I feel like I'm on a bad
51:41day, God is so good. Let's stand
51:43together, everybody in this house. Let's
51:45resolve to leave this house
51:48asking God,
51:50let me not only experience your
51:52goodness,
51:54but teach me the ethics of your
51:57goodness. I want to be ethical like you.
52:01I want to be ethical as your servant. I
52:04want to have better control over my
52:06mouth, my speech. I want to do good
52:11more often than I do bad until your
52:14goodness just flows out of me. I want to
52:17be whole. I want to seek and pursue
52:19after your peace. Peace with God, peace
52:22with myself, and peace with everybody
52:25you allow in my orbit. And I will bless
52:28you at all times. For your eternal plans
52:31for me are perfect. Let's pray. Father,
52:32in the name of the Lord, thank you for
52:35the strength you gave. Thank you for the
52:38word you sent. Thank you for the
52:40conviction you have stirred in the
52:41hearts of your people. We are leaving
52:44this place
52:46thinking on the goodness of the Lord.
52:48Resolving within ourselves that Lord, we
52:51will not try to have a distant
52:53relationship with you, but we are
52:55jumping all in. We're tasting that we
52:59may see that you are good, that we may
53:02put our trust in you.
53:04I pray God that as we leave this house
53:06today, you'll bring us to a a higher
53:08level of relationship with you with the
53:11very character of God. The essence of
53:13who you are will become manifest and
53:15visible in our lives that we'll seek the
53:18goodness of the Lord and we'll seek to
53:20live out your goodness through the power
53:22of the spirit. Ah, thank you Lord to
53:26trust in you that though evil may seem
53:30to prosper more in this world to know
53:32that you have an eternal plan and in
53:35your eternal plan evil does not win but
53:39righteousness wins. So we will seek by
53:41your spirit and your word to live
53:43righteously by your grace. Thank you
53:46now. Dismiss us with your great
53:47blessings. Bring us safely to our home,
53:49oh God, and give us a productive week,
53:51giving glory and honor to your name. In
53:53Jesus's name we pray. And everybody say,
53:55"Amen."
53:56>> If you could raise those right hands all
53:58across this building. The Lord bless you
54:00and keep you. The Lord make his face
54:03shine upon you and be gracious unto you.
54:06The Lord lift up his countenance upon
54:09you and give you peace. Peace. Peace. Go
54:12in the peace of the Lord. We love you.
54:14Have a blessed week. Have an overcoming
54:17week.
54:18Experience his goodness and let his
54:19goodness be lived out in your life. And
