Summary
Drawing from David's experience while fleeing Saul, Rev. Dr. Omar Williams explores Psalm 31 to demonstrate that placing our lives in God's hands provides security, direction, and ultimate triumph even in the midst of betrayal and prolonged trials.
Key points
- •Trust in God must be fluid and constant, extending from moments of success to seasons of deep betrayal and adversity.
- •God allows trials not to destroy us, but to mature our character and lead us toward our divine purpose.
- •Commitment to God involves 'dying to self,' surrendering one's own ambitions and ways to His sovereign will.
- •Even when we feel besieged or forgotten, God is 'very present' and intimately considers our specific troubles.
- •Personal praise is the rightful response to God's deliverance, turning past trials into a public testimony of His goodness.

Life application
This week, identify one area of life where you are trying to manufacture your own 'deliverance' and intentionally surrender it to God's timing, praying, 'Into your hands I commit my spirit.'
Reflection questions
- In what ways have you experienced God as a 'safe space' compared to the safe spaces offered by the world?
- David asked for deliverance 'in righteousness.' Are you willing to ask God to do what is right even if it differs from what you want?
- How does knowing that God 'considers' your trouble change your perspective on your current difficult season?
- What 'old stories' of God's past faithfulness can you stand on while waiting for a new word today?

3:10Greetings and salutation, Pastor Chris,
3:12Lady Leah, uh shepherd mother. My wife
3:15uh should be at the airport in
3:17Philadelphia right I was telling the
3:19first service, uh, she should have been
3:21home, but the storms in New York and,
3:25uh, North Florida, a lot of flights got
3:28delayed out of JFK, including her
3:30flight, and we couldn't find any flight.
3:33The World Cup, the World Cup in in New
3:36York, New Jersey, uh, took up so many
3:39flights. There were no flights until
3:41Tuesday. So, we had to [music] find a
3:43flight in Philadelphia. and she took the
3:45train from New York straight to the
3:48Philadelphia airport. A a few stops, but
3:51thank God we pray she'll be home this
3:53evening at 6 o'clock. So, please keep
3:55her in your prayers. Psalm chapter 31 is
3:59where we are today. Psalm chapter 31.
4:02Thank you so much, Dr. Gibbs, for that
4:04very spirited reading of the Psalm.
4:07Amen. We could just say amen and close
4:09the Bibles and go home. [laughter]
4:13I just want to read again verse five in
4:15your hearing. It says, "Into your hand I
4:18commit my spirit you have redeemed me,
4:21oh Lord, God of truth." I want to speak
4:25to us today from Psalm 31 on this
4:27thought. In God's hands.
4:31In God's hands.
4:35Psalm 31 is traditionally
4:39attributed to King David.
4:43But the circumstances that gave birth to
4:49the writing of this psalm
4:53did not occur while David was king.
4:58The psalm likely, the occurrences, the
5:01historical factors that prompted David
5:04to write the psalm, they likely occurred
5:08when David was fleeing the jealous wrath
5:11of King Saul.
5:14As you read the psalm, it reflects the
5:17intense danger that David faced while he
5:21was a fugitive in the wilderness of
5:24Judea while being pursued by Saul and
5:29his army. From a historical perspective
5:33and and and the story is documented in
5:351st Samuel 19 and verse 26.
5:40Saul
5:41out of his jealousy, he relentlessly
5:45pursued David for nearly 15 years with
5:50the intention to snuff out the life of
5:54David. It was only at the death of King
5:57Saul at Gilboa that the persecution and
6:03the exile of David came to an end. But
6:07in that time he was hiding in caves, in
6:10fortresses, in territories of of
6:14neighboring nations, even nations that
6:17were enemy nations to David. And it is a
6:21good reminder to all of us that when God
6:25has his hand on us and when God has a
6:28calling on our lives and when God has
6:31invested purpose in us [music] that
6:34there is no such thing as unqualified
6:37success
6:39that between the time when God reveals
6:43his anointing and the time that we will
6:47uh fulfill the great purposes of God in
6:51our lives that more often than not we
6:55will go through some troubles and some
6:57trials. David was anointed at about the
7:00age of between 15 and [music] 17. And
7:04from that about that time until the day
7:08that King Saul died about the age of 30
7:12years old, David had to be fleeing and
7:15running for his life even though the
7:18hand of God was upon him. Brothers and
7:21sisters, we might as well gear our minds
7:24that if the man of the God's after God's
7:27own heart was pursued, slandered, fought
7:32against, opposed, persecuted. Who are
7:35you and who am I to try to seek a buy
7:41from the round of difficulty and trials?
7:47David writes [music] in verse 21 and uh
7:50this particular verse gives a clue as to
7:55uh the his story the historical uh
7:58factor behind David's writing. He he
8:00writes in verse 21 in the complete
8:03Jewish Bible. He says God has shown me
8:06his amazing grace when I was in a city
8:10that was under siege. And if we map this
8:13on to David's history in 1st Samuel
8:16between chapters 19 and 26, [music]
8:18we'll notice that in chapter 23 of 1st
8:21Samuel that there was a time when David
8:24was called to defend a city called Kela.
8:29He was called to defend the city [music]
8:31called Kela. He rescued the city from
8:34the siege of the Philistines. And as
8:37soon as he rescued the city, Saul got
8:41word of it. Saul got word that David was
8:44locked in a sieged city. And David ga
8:47Saul gathered his greatest armies and
8:50began to march against the city,
8:54deciding to lock David in the city. But
8:58brothers and sisters, I want you to hear
9:00me that while Saul was marching, David
9:03was praying.
9:05While Saul and his army were plotting to
9:09trap David in a strongly fortified and
9:13sieged city, David was calling out to
9:17God. He was calling out to God. No, he
9:19wasn't calling out to Joab. He wasn't
9:21calling out to the rag tag team that had
9:24gathered around him. He was calling upon
9:26the name of the Lord. And he said to
9:29God, he asked God, "God, is Saul going
9:32to besiege the city?" The Lord said,
9:34"Yes, Saul is coming and he's trying to
9:38trap you in the city." He asked God,
9:40"God, these people in Kela, will they
9:43deliver me into the hand of Saul?" And
9:46God said, "Yes, they will deliver you in
9:49the hand of Saul." Lean in here for a
9:50second because I just told you that
9:52David and his rag tag team while they
9:56were on the run had delivered the city
9:59of Kela. And Saul heard about it and
10:03decided to come against Keela. And the
10:05same people that David had just
10:08delivered were getting ready to turn him
10:11over into the hand of Saul. Lean in here
10:13for a second. What the Lord is trying to
10:16say to you and to I is this. that when
10:19you are going through hard times, even
10:23the people that you helped, that you
10:27poured into, will turn around and stab
10:30you in the back. We should help people.
10:33We should have friends. But here's the
10:35deal. This is what he's trying to argue
10:37here. Do not put your trust in people.
10:41Yeah. Don't put your greatest trust and
10:44your confidence in that person who told
10:47you in the good times, I'm your ride or
10:49die. Am I talking to anybody here? He is
10:52saying this. While you love people and
10:54relate to people, put your trust in God.
10:57NOT IN CHARIOTS, NOT IN HORSES, not in
11:00the forces of people, not in their
11:02deepest promises. receive it and believe
11:05it, but put your greatest trust in the
11:08power of God, for he's the only one who
11:10will never fail.
11:13He said, "I saw your grace when the city
11:16was besieged. I saw your grace when I
11:19didn't know where to go, where to run,
11:21and Saul and his army were getting ready
11:23to surround me, and the people that I
11:26just helped betrayed me." That's when I
11:28saw your grace. I saw the grace of God.
11:32Brothers and sisters, it is not only in
11:34the good times that we see the grace and
11:36the grandeur and the glory of God. No.
11:38But I want to propose to us that it is
11:41often and more often than not in the
11:44difficult circumstances when we are
11:47disappointed when we are let down, when
11:50we are at our wits end, when we don't
11:52know where to go, then what our eyes are
11:55completely FOCUSED ON GOD THAT WE SEE
11:58THE GLORY AND THE AMAZING GRACE OF GOD.
12:02Sometimes we can tend to tell ourselves,
12:04"I got it together. I did this myself. I
12:08pulled myself up by my own bootstraps."
12:10But when your back is against the wall
12:13in a besieged city, no food, no water,
12:15and people turn against you, you will
12:17sure enough see the grace OF GOD BECAUSE
12:20YOU'LL TURN YOUR EYES UPON THE LORD. And
12:23somebody shout glory in this place.
12:25Hallelujah. You will see the glory and
12:29the grandeur of God. And so I like this
12:32psalm because this this psalm uh walks
12:35us through many scenes and situations
12:37and sagas in the life of David as he as
12:40he is on the run hiding in in the caves
12:43and in the wilderness and behind trees
12:45and he is [music] he is moving through
12:47anguish but in the middle of his anguish
12:51there is an assurance that he feels in
12:54the God in whom [music] he trusts. He he
12:57panics but he is trusting in the Lord.
13:00In fact, as you read through Psalm 31,
13:03you will realize that trust, everybody
13:06shout trust.
13:08>> Trust is repeated over and over and over
13:13in the psalm. It is the unifying theme,
13:15the common thread that runs through the
13:18psalm in in the hiding. David trust in
13:21God. In the deliverance, he trust in
13:23God. in the testimony at the end. He
13:26trust in God. It is a unifying theme.
13:28And he's trying to tell us, brothers and
13:30sisters, that our trust in God is not
13:33static. It has to be fluid because the
13:36trust in God has to extend beyond the
13:40good times when the friends are there
13:42and the wine is running and the money is
13:44strong. IT HAS TO EXTEND to those times
13:48when your back is against the wall and
13:51you don't KNOW WHO TO CALL on or where
13:53to go or how it's GOING TO TURN OUT. BUT
13:56YOU GOT TO LEARN HOW TO TRUST IN GOD IN
13:58EVERY SCENE AND SITUATION OF YOUR LIFE.
14:03>> Trust him when it's easy. Trust him when
14:05it's hard. Trust him when it's good.
14:08Trust him when it's bad. Trust him when
14:10you're down. Trust him WHEN YOU'RE UP. I
14:13TRUST IN GOD. PERIOD. I trust him in
14:17EVERY SITUATION THAT CAN COME MY WAY.
14:22Somebody shout, I trust in God. I I
14:25trust in God, said David. I I trust him
14:28in the good times, in the conducive
14:30time, but I trust God in those times
14:34that are the deepest and the darkest
14:37areas of my life is especially when I
14:41find myself in the face of death, said
14:44David, I will trust in the Lord. I'll
14:49trust in the Lord.
14:52In the first eight verses of Psalm
14:54chapter 31, uh David lays out his
14:58petition before God. This is point
15:00number one. He he lays out his petitions
15:03before God. He he lays out his petitions
15:07before God. In these verses, uh, we see
15:10a beautiful tandem, a beautiful
15:12connection between truth and trust that
15:16results in David laying out his
15:20petitions before God. Because you don't
15:23tell your deepest, darkest [music]
15:26secrets. You don't share your most
15:29vulnerable moments with people you don't
15:30trust, do you?
15:33If you know somebody is a gossip and as
15:36soon as the word leaves your mouth to
15:39their ears, it's in the grape [music]
15:40vine, will you tell them your deepest
15:42roots? No, you won't. So, so, so, so
15:47there is something about David's
15:50confidence in the character of God,
15:54the unchanging
15:57character of God that made David declare
16:01upfront, "In you, OH LORD, I put my
16:04trust." I I'm getting ready to to lay
16:07out my petitions, my needs, my wants, my
16:12struggles, my greatest desires. I'm
16:15getting transparent with you, God. But
16:17it's because I trust you, God. And and
16:20and I trust you, God, in verse five. I I
16:24trust you, God. I trust you. I have
16:27total reliance in you. I have total
16:30confidence in you. I feel like you are
16:33my safe place. You are my rock. You are
16:37my refuge. And I think this is good in a
16:39generation that is always desiring to
16:43have a safe space. I if I tell you how
16:46many times I've heard wanting a safe
16:49space expressed in the last 10 years and
16:52you gave me a dollar every time I told
16:54you, I think I may be rich.
16:56This generation desires safe space. But
16:59here's the deal. David says, "I trust
17:01you, God, because you are my safe
17:04space." I want to suggest to you here
17:06that when you don't know who to talk to,
17:10when you don't know who to turn to,
17:12where to run to, when the burdens are
17:15heavy, you can find safe place in God.
17:18You can find a safe space where you can
17:21lay your burdens down, where you can
17:24tell God all about it. And here's the
17:26deal. He won't tell anybody your
17:28business. Am I talking to anybody here?
17:29He He'll never start a gossip on you.
17:31He'll never start a rumor on you. YOU
17:33CAN TELL GOD ALL ABOUT YOUR TROUBLES.
17:36YOU CAN TELL HIM ABOUT YOUR TRIALS. YOU
17:37CAN TELL HIM ABOUT THE HEAVINESS OF
17:39HEART AND GOD WILL HELP YOU AND HE WON'T
17:42TELL anybody about you.
17:45I believe that we ought to get back to
17:48telling God about our troubles. I
17:51believe we ought to get back to talking
17:53to God and finding safety in God. And
17:55David said, "I trust you, so I'll
17:58confide in you." Why? Because in verse
18:01five, you are the Lord God of truth. You
18:05you you your truth is eternal. You are
18:08you are the true God. You are you are
18:11the one who never fails. You never lie.
18:13Whatever you say, that will come to
18:15fruition. That will come to pass. I am
18:18standing on the bedrock of the truth of
18:22the word of God, said David. And I am
18:24putting my complete trust in the LORD
18:28GOD ALMIGHTY, THE GOD OF TRUTH. BROTHERS
18:31and sisters, I I I need the God of truth
18:34in my life. But not only that, I need
18:36some people in my life who are connected
18:39to the God of truth. And so they are
18:42people of truth. Yeah. I I need some
18:46people who will tell me the truth. Do I
18:48have anybody in the house? I I need some
18:50people who will tell me the truth even
18:52when it is the hard truth even when it
18:55is truth that you need to get yourself
18:57together. I I need that God and I need
19:00people who are connected to that God who
19:03will not be afraid. They won't just pat
19:05me on the back ALL THE TIME AND TELL ME
19:07I'm right, but they will tell me the
19:10truth.
19:12>> Oh yes. He he confides in the God of
19:17truth. He stands on the word of the God
19:21of truth. And this is important for us
19:23because I I see so many people always
19:26seeking for a new word from God. But
19:29David said, "In the time of trouble,
19:31when I don't know how my situation is
19:35going to pan out, I'm going to stand on
19:38the foundation of what I already know."
19:40Hallelujah. I'm going to stand on what
19:43has already been revealed to me about my
19:46God. And it is this that he is the God
19:49of truth. The unchanging
19:51unfailing
19:53truth of God is an anchor for somebody
19:57who has been TOSSED ABOUT BY THE TEMPEST
20:00of life right now. While you are waiting
20:03for a new word from God, stand on the
20:07prevailing word of God. Am I TALKING TO
20:08ANYBODY? FOREVER, OH GOD, THY WORD IS
20:11SETTLED in the heaven. AND WHEN I CAN
20:14HEAR A new word, I'M GOING TO STAND ON
20:16THE PREVAILING WORD OF GOD.
20:19So many people are looking for a new
20:23word from God. Always wanting a new
20:25word, Lady Wendy, that sometimes they
20:27manufacture the word themselves. WHEN
20:29WHEN GOD HAS not spoken, they say, "I
20:33hear the spirit say, I I hear a voice
20:36say, well, I'm glad you said a voice
20:38say, well, you tell that voice to stay
20:41where it is." BUT WHEN GOD HAS NOT
20:43SPOKEN, YOU STAND ON THE CURRENT WORD OF
20:46GOD. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY HERE? I IF
20:48GOD SAID, "I'M GOING TO BLESS YOU, AND
20:51I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU, NO
20:54MATTER WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH, YOU
20:56STAND ON THAT WORD OF GOD," REMIND
20:59YOURSELF, "He'll never leave me nor
21:00forsake me." Hallelujah. He stood on the
21:04character of the truth of God's word.
21:06And he lays out, he lays out three
21:08petitions to the Lord between verses one
21:10and eight. Number one, he asked God. He
21:13makes a petition for deliverance. And I
21:15can't go through all of these verse. I'm
21:16just going to go to some of the main
21:17points. Deliver me, oh God. But he says,
21:20"Deliver me in your righteousness."
21:22Deliver me in your your righteousness.
21:24Here it is. David is asking God to do
21:28not what I want, but do what is right.
21:32He is saying to God, and I like this in
21:34David's writing, it is this, brother
21:35Malik. He he he's he's he's always
21:39leaving room for the possibility that he
21:43could be in the wrong. So So he says,
21:45"God, he says, deliver me not based on
21:49what I want because I always want to
21:52come out and I always want to be
21:54vindicated." And a lot of us don't like
21:56acknowledging our wrongs. But David is
21:58saying, "I AM OPEN, GOD, that if I am
22:02wrong, I need you to deal with me too.
22:04Show me that while you are delivering
22:06me, show me where I went wrong. Because
22:09a lot of times we find ourselves in
22:12trouble. Not because the devil is so
22:15bad, but sometime we find ourselves in
22:17trouble because of the actions of God
22:20and sometimes because of the
22:22consequences of our own actions.
22:25Can the church say amen to that? There's
22:27a lot of us find ourselves in trouble
22:30because of the we are reaping the
22:32consequences of our own actions. And
22:35that is why no responsible preacher will
22:38ever get up here and tell you if you
22:41shout three times and spin around four
22:43times, God's going to deliver you out of
22:45every trouble that you're in. BECAUSE
22:47THERE ARE TIMES WHEN GOD HAS TO LET YOU
22:50GO THROUGH THE TROUBLE THAT YOU CAN
22:52LEARN HOW TO DO BETTER WHEN YOU COME OUT
22:53OF IT. I HEAR DAVE. Come here, DAVID. I
22:56AM GLAD THAT I WAS AFFLICTED THAT I MAY
22:59LEARN HOW TO PUT MY TRUST IN GOD.
23:04Sometimes God has got to let us ride
23:06through some storms. THINK ABOUT IT. IF
23:08GOD were to deliver you out of
23:11everything, he would not be a true
23:13father BECAUSE A TRUE FATHER IS NOT
23:16ALWAYS TRYING TO CATER TO YOUR COMFORT.
23:19They are trying to cater to your
23:21maturity. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY?
23:23SOMETIMES HE'S GOT TO LET YOU STAY THERE
23:26FOR A LITTLE WHILE.
23:28Oh yes. Oh yes. I I've I have heard some
23:32things. I've in recent times I'm hearing
23:34an uptick in this kind of in this kind
23:37of transactional relationship with God.
23:39Shepherd mother. I've I'm hearing it.
23:41I'm hearing it. Even creeping over in
23:43the apostolic church. If if when when
23:45the pastor preaches when some of the
23:47preachers preach, they no longer make an
23:49altar call. They make an offering line.
23:54And they tell you, they tell you so $300
23:57in this anointing and God is going to
23:59release everything that was held up. So,
24:02so $3,033
24:04in this anointing and God is going to
24:07change your zip code. He's going to
24:09change your net worth and your credit
24:11score is going to go up. The devil is a
24:12liar. You ruined that credit score. You
24:16took too many things that YOU KNOW YOU
24:17AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY? ALL RIGHT. ALL
24:19RIGHT. WELL, YOU don't want me to talk
24:20about you. Let me talk about myself. Can
24:23I talk about myself?
24:25Grew up in a rag tag house. And as soon
24:29as certain, we didn't have certain
24:30comforts, no refrigerator, no none of
24:33that stuff. And as soon as Lady Rose, as
24:36soon as I got my first job out of
24:37college as a teacher and rented my first
24:40apartment and felt good, I I I wanted to
24:44reverse my situation immediately. You
24:46know what I did? Silly me? Got a credit
24:48card.
24:50maxed out that credit card, buying sofa
24:54and refrigerator and television to
24:57TRYING TO HAVE EVERYTHING AT ONE TIME
25:00THAT I DIDN'T HAVE coming up,
25:06forgetting
25:08that I also had a responsibility to
25:10repay the card and repay my student
25:12loan.
25:15Well, I ran in trouble.
25:18praying person,
25:20youth pastor for MY CHURCH, BUT I GOT IN
25:22trouble because I WAS NOT WISE IN MY
25:27stewardship of my resources. And when
25:30the student loan bureau came down on me
25:32and decided to garnish my wages so that
25:35they could collect their money, one of
25:37the very spiritual sisters in my church
25:40looked at me and said, "You need to have
25:42faith in God. You need to bind up this
25:45student loan." HOLY ASK GOD TO BIND IT
25:49UP.
25:52WELL, I tell you this, maybe I'm too
25:55practical for that kind of faith, but
25:58but I had I was a young man in my 20s
26:01then, but I had enough sense to know
26:04that that's not how God works. Because
26:07if God delivered me out of that, how do
26:11I learn responsibility so I don't get
26:13back into that again? A lot of you are
26:16walking on the car lot to go claim some
26:18car because some word of faith preacher
26:21told you that even though your CREDIT
26:23SCORE IS JACKED UP, GO WALK. YOU'RE
26:25GOING TO WALK ON THERE AND WALK BACK
26:26OFF. GOD IS TRYING TO TELL YOU, GET IN A
26:30PROGRAM TO RESTORE YOUR CREDIT. AM I
26:32TALKING TO ANYBODY IN THIS PLACE? NO
26:34MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU GIVE, GOD
26:36MIGHT LET THAT BOY STAY IN JAIL FOR A
26:39YEAR BECAUSE HE WANTS HIM TO LEARN
26:41SOMETHING. SO WHEN HE COMES OUT OF THAT
26:43PLACE, HE LEARNS HOW TO DO BETTER.
26:45>> I know it's tough, but this is right.
26:49I know it's tough, but it's right. David
26:51cries out to God. HE SAYS, "DELIVER ME
26:54NOT BASED ON WHAT I WANT, BUT WHAT YOU
26:57SEE AS right for me, FOR WHERE I AM
27:00RIGHT NOW, AND FOR YOU DESIRE FOR ME TO
27:02GO.
27:03Max Lo, he puts it this way. He's
27:05accurate. And he says, quote, "Faith is
27:08not the belief that God will do what you
27:10want. It is the belief that God will do
27:13what is right. I want God to do what is
27:17right in my life, what is right for me.
27:19So that when he brings me out and he
27:22brings me to what he wants ME TO HAVE
27:24AND WHERE HE WANTS ME TO BE, THAT I AM
27:27MATURED IN CHARACTER. SO I never slip or
27:30bring shame TO HIS NAME OR HIS PEOPLE."
27:32AM I TALKING TO anybody in this place?
27:34He trusts God. He says, "God, I trust
27:37you, Lord. Because while I'm in the
27:40situation, while you're working things
27:42out, you have been you've been my
27:44sealer. You've been my rock and my Moaz.
27:47You've been my my fortress. You've been
27:49a strong tower for me, from the enemy.
27:53I'm hiding in these rocks and these
27:55caves, but I'm not trusting in them. I'm
27:58hiding in them, but I'm trusting in you.
28:01My soul is hidden in the rock of ages.
28:03Am I talking to anybody? Yeah. Yeah. He
28:05He was He was literally singing what was
28:08pen laid. Rock of ages. CLE FOR ME. LET
28:11LET ME HIDE MYSELF IN YOU. You are my
28:15strong tower. You are my refuge. You are
28:19my strength. AND YOU KNOW HOW TO DELIVER
28:22ME BY YOUR MERCY AND YOUR GRACE.
28:26He goes on petition number two in verses
28:283 to 5. He petitions God for direction.
28:32I want deliverance, says David. But
28:34beyond deliverance, I want direction.
28:36Because you see, brothers and sisters,
28:37he acknowledges in this these verses
28:41that his enemies have laid out some
28:44traps for him. They they have laid out
28:46some minefields for him. And he is
28:49saying to God, I don't want to be like
28:52that person who asked you to deliver me,
28:55but as soon as I come out, I step back
28:58in another bad relationship. I I don't
29:00want to be like that person that that I
29:02got to keep on getting delivered and
29:05delivered and delivered. I was delivered
29:07at ACI 2023, but now I'm going back for
29:10a deliverance in 2024 and 2025, and now
29:132026 has come around, and I'm going back
29:16for another deliverance. I I don't want
29:18to have to be delivered EVERY
29:20CONFERENCE. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY
29:22HERE? HE'S SAYING TO GOD, THERE ARE some
29:25things I don't need DELIVERANCE FROM. I
29:28NEED DIRECTION. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY?
29:30I I NEED DIRECTION AND GUIDANCE SO THAT
29:33MY DISCIPLEHIP CAN BE SO TIGHT WITH YOU
29:37THAT I AVOID THE THINGS THAT I WOULD
29:39NEED TO BE DELIVERED FROM. AM I talking
29:41to anybody here?
29:43>> Yeah.
29:44Yeah. I I I don't want to have to be
29:47delivered and delivered and delivered
29:49and delivered and delivered at some
29:52point. I just need God to guide me. I I
29:55just need to submit myself to the
29:57DIRECTION OF GOD. AM I TALKING TO
30:00ANYBODY IN this house?
30:02>> Yeah. There there are people who are
30:04clamoring over deliverance ministries.
30:07No, no, no. When the Lord saves you,
30:10some of us, we don't need deliverance.
30:12You need to be discipled. You need to
30:14humbly my Lord I feel like
30:18he said he said Lord I want you to
30:20direct me now that you have delivered me
30:24direct me and in this he prays a very
30:26intense prayer that shows his interest
30:29in being directed by God. It is in verse
30:325 HE SAYS INTO YOUR hand I commit my
30:37spirit. Let me pause there. Brothers and
30:38sisters, this this word to commit, it
30:41means it literally means to deposit to
30:43to entrust. It is to lay myself totally
30:48and fully into somebody's hand and into
30:51somebody's care. Th this this kind of
30:53prayer is a prayer that is only prayed
30:57by dying people. Yeah. Yeah. Because
30:59this is a prayer that Jesus prayed in
31:02Luke 23 and verse 46. When he was on the
31:06cross and getting ready to surrender his
31:10spirit in the hand of God, he said to
31:12God, "Into your hands I commit my
31:15spirit." He hung his head and then he
31:18died. It it is it is the same prayer
31:21that that uh the first martyr Stephen
31:24prayed in Acts 7 and 59 when they were
31:28stoning him to death. He said into your
31:31hands I commit my spirit. Now you may
31:34hear me say that this is a prayer of
31:37people who are ready to die. And you may
31:40think I'm talking about somebody who is
31:43about to physically die. But no, that's
31:44not what I'm talking about. I'm talking
31:46about somebody who is about ready to die
31:48to themselves. Somebody who has said,
31:50"Lord, I WILL TAKE UP THE CROSS AND I
31:53WILL FOLLOW YOU." THIS THIS IS THE
31:55prayer of somebody WHO SAYS, "MY ALL IS
31:59ON THE altar of sacrifice laid. I'm
32:03tired of living in my sin, LIVING IN MY
32:06FLESH, LIVING FOR MYSELF. INTO YOUR
32:08HANDS, I COMMIT MY SPIRIT. WHATEVER YOU
32:11DECIDE TO DO WITH MY LIFE HEREAFTER,
32:14HERE I AM, LORD, FOR I AM DEAD. I'm
32:16talking Am I TALKING TO ANYBODY? I AM
32:18DEAD AND MY LIFE IS HID WITH CHRIST IN
32:22GOD.
32:24Oh God. Hallelujah. I just wonder if
32:27there's anybody in the house that is
32:29ready to die to yourself. Anybody?
32:31Anybody ready to die to your own ways?
32:34Anybody ready to die to your own
32:36ambitions and and and what you think is
32:38right? AND YOU SAY TO GOD, I I COMMIT
32:41MYSELF IN YOUR HAND. WHATEVER YOU WANT
32:43TO do with me, WHEREVER YOU WANT TO TAKE
32:46ME, I JUST NEED your will to be done
32:48more than any other will. I I I I hear
32:50the writer saying it this way. Sweet
32:52will of God. HALLELUJAH. STILL FOLD ME
32:55CLOSER TILL I AM HOLY. I'M TOTALLY I'M
32:59COMPLETELY LOST IN YOUR WILL.
33:03Thank you, Lord. Hallelujah. Hallelujah.
33:05It's a prayer that is prayed by people
33:08who are ready to die to themselves and
33:10to surrender their hands into the hand
33:12of the Lord. He he prays lastly, he
33:15prays a petition of dependence on God.
33:17He said to God, I reject useless idols.
33:20I dislike I despise those who depend on
33:24idols, but God, I trust in you, for you
33:28have known my soul in adversities. Push
33:31pause for a second. You have known my
33:35soul in adversities. He's at the prayer
33:38of dependence. Verses 6 to8 HE SAYS YOU
33:41HAVE KNOWN MY SOUL IN ADVERSITIES. THERE
33:44are many people who know us
33:49but they know us only when times are
33:51good. They they they know us when we are
33:53the life of the party. The third
33:56petition, the petition of dependence. He
33:58they they they KNOW US ONLY WHEN times
34:01are good. when when we are funding
34:03everything and and and uh when they can
34:05leech off of us, brothers and sisters.
34:08But but David IS SAYING THAT'S NOT HOW
34:10GOD IS. My God, I feel the Holy Ghost.
34:13He he says God knows yada. That is to
34:16say, there is an intimacy that develops
34:19between me and God when I'm walking
34:22through adversity. WHY IS THIS SO?
34:24BECAUSE often times it is when we are
34:27walking through adversity that we learn
34:29how to rely on God. Am I talking to
34:31anybody here? It It is when we are our
34:33our our power is broken and we realize
34:37I'm not in control as I thought. I'm I
34:40THOUGHT I WAS A cat's meow. THE DOG THE
34:42DOGS BOW OUT. I THOUGHT I HAD IT GOING
34:44ON. BUT WHEN WE GET OURSELVES IN
34:46TROUBLE, THAT'S WHEN WE BEGIN to realize
34:48I need to call on God. And can you lean
34:50in here for a second and tell the truth
34:52that there is a lot of us in this place
34:54that your prayer life is at its peak
34:57when you are going through some trouble.
34:59Am I talking to anybody here? Yeah.
35:01Yeah. THAT'S WHEN YOU PRAY MORE THAN
35:03YOU'VE EVER PRAYED BEFORE. And and it
35:05secondly, IT ALSO MEANS THAT IT'S when
35:08you are in trouble that God is closest
35:10to you. Am I talking to you? Anybody
35:12here? It is when they are GOING TO THE
35:14VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH THAT THE
35:17SHEPHERD IS NEAREST TO THE SHEEP. HUH?
35:19GOD. He is our refuge and our strength.
35:22Hear this. He's a VERY PRESENT. SOMEBODY
35:25SHOUT VERY PRESENT. HE'S A VERY PRESENT
35:29HELP IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR TROUBLE.
35:32WHATEVER YOU are dealing with, SAINTS OF
35:34GOD, WHATEVER YOU'RE GOING THROUGH,
35:36whatever has gone on for too long and
35:38you may feel like you're walking through
35:40this alone. I'm here to tell you in the
35:42word of God THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE IN
35:44THIS. WHY? BECAUSE GOD KNOWS
35:45[clears throat] YOUR SOUL IN THE MIDDLE
35:47OF YOUR ADVERSITY. HE IS SO CLOSE TO YOU
35:50THAT HE NOT ONLY KNOWS YOUR VOICE, HE
35:52KNOWS THE VERY ESSENCE OF WHO YOU ARE.
35:54He sees it REVEALED BEFORE HIM. HE KNOWS
35:57THE WAY THAT YOU ARE TAKING. AND WHEN HE
35:59HAS TRIED YOU, YOU WILL COME OUT AS PURE
36:02GOLD.
36:04Somebody shout, "He knows where I am."
36:07Hallelujah. TELL YOURSELF ANOTHER TIME,
36:09CHILD OF GOD. YOU ARE GOING THROUGH SOME
36:11THINGS. TELL YOURSELF ANOTHER TIME. SAY,
36:13"GOD KNOWS WHERE I AM. HE HE KNOWS WHERE
36:16I AM. NOBODY SEES ME. NOBODY SEEMS to
36:18notice what I'm dealing with, BUT GOD
36:21KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE. HE SEES YOUR SOUL.
36:23HE KNOWS YOUR SOUL. HE IS RIGHT BESIDE
36:26YOU. HE HAS HIS ARM WRAPPED AROUND YOU.
36:28IN FACT, WHEN YOU SAW ONE SET OF
36:31FOOTPRINT IN THE SAND, IT WAS NOT YOURS.
36:34IT WAS GOD'S BECAUSE GOD WAS CARRYING
36:36YOU IN THE POWER OF HIS HAND.
36:40Somebody shout, he knows. Hallelujah.
36:42Hallelujah. And David said that in the
36:45middle of trouble, God considers my
36:48troubles. My God, this is deep. [snorts]
36:50God is thinking deeply about my trouble.
36:54God is caring deeply about my trouble.
36:58And here's the deal. Even while I am in
37:01the trouble, GOD HAS MY FEET IN A WIDE
37:05PLACE. HOW IS THIS DAVID? HE is saying
37:08that I don't look like what I am GOING
37:11THROUGH BECAUSE WHILE I'M GOING THROUGH
37:14IT AND THEY THOUGHT IT SHOULD BE
37:15SQUEEZING ME TO DEATH BUT BECAUSE GOD IS
37:17WITH ME, HE'S GIVEN MY FEET A WIDE PLACE
37:21TO WALK ON TO STAND. Oh God,
37:29we don't have to look like what we're
37:30going through.
37:32You don't have to walk in church for
37:34everybody to see what you're dealing
37:35with. BECAUSE DAVID SAID THAT WHILE I'M
37:39GOING TO MY TROUBLE, GOD HE CONSIDERS.
37:41I'M going to deal with that in a little
37:42bit here. He He's thinking upon my
37:44trouble, but not only that, he has my
37:46feet in a wide place. Good God from on
37:48high. I'M GOING TO FIRE, BUT I'M GOING
37:51TO COME OUT NOT SMELLING like smoke like
37:53the three HEBREW BOYS. BECAUSE GOD HAS
37:56MY FEET IN A WIDE PLACE.
38:00He considers my trouble. C Can I lean in
38:02that for a while? God considers my
38:04trouble.
38:05He he is consciously aware and he is
38:10thinking deeply about my trouble.
38:14Oh,
38:17you know,
38:19every time
38:21ONE OF GOD'S GENERALS were tested, I'm
38:25not hitting point number two. Every time
38:28one of God's generals were tested,
38:32the devil had to go to God to get
38:35permission. [laughter]
38:37Oh my goodness.
38:41HE HAD TO GO TO GOD TO get permission.
38:44Come here, Job.
38:46Have you considered my servant Job?
38:49There it is again. CONSIDERED. YOU HAVE
38:51THOUGHT ABOUT HIM, BUT MY MIND IS on
38:54him. Ah, God. And I feel the Holy GHOST
38:56HERE. THE DEVIL HAD TO GO to God TO SAY
38:59TO GOD, CAN I TEMPT JOB? AND GOD SAID,
39:02ALL RIGHT, send me the list of things
39:05you want to do in his life.
39:09And when Job sent the list over to God,
39:11I want to take his children. I want to
39:13take his money. I want to take his
39:15[music] house. I want to destroy his
39:16faith. I want to destroy his life. I
39:19hear the Lord looking over the list. Can
39:20I can I just apply my imagination? He
39:23read over the list and he said, "Okay,
39:25all right, check. You can take his
39:26children. You can you can take his house
39:28in a whirlwind." Yeah, you can you can
39:30trouble his family. You can trouble even
39:32his finances, but no, no, no. Exx, you
39:35can't touch his faith. I feel the Holy
39:36Ghost in here. You You can't touch his
39:38faith and you surely can't take his life
39:41cuz he's got to live to come out of
39:42this. And and then and then he gave him
39:44the list AND SAID, "GO BACK. YOU CAN
39:46TEMPT HIM." AND AND FAST FORWARD TO THE
39:48NEW TESTAMENT. SATAN goes back to him
39:50again and said, "You got these disciples
39:52walking with you, but but I want to sift
39:55them like wheat. I want to shake them so
39:58hard until I detach their souls from
40:02their faith."
40:04>> Jesus said, "All right, you can SHAKE
40:07THEM AS HARD AS YOU want to, but no, no,
40:09no, YOU CAN'T DETACH THEIR FAITH FROM
40:11THEIR SOUL. I HAVE PRAYED FOR YOU THAT
40:14YOUR FAITH WILL NOT FAIL. WHATEVER YOU
40:16ARE GOING THROUGH, GOD IS CONSIDERING
40:19IT. HE HAS READ ABOUT IT. HE KNOWS WHAT
40:23YOU'RE GOING THROUGH. AND HE SAID, "I
40:25ALLOWED YOU TO GO THROUGH IT BECAUSE
40:28GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN THE
40:30TRIAL YOU ARE DEALING WITH. YOU MAY FEEL
40:33LIKE THIS IS ABOUT TO TAKE YOU OUT, BUT
40:35I HAVE YOUR FEET IN A WIDE PLACE." AM I
40:38TALKING TO ANYBODY IN THIS PLACE? PUT
40:41YOUR FOOT DOWN BECAUSE YOUR FEET ARE IN
40:44A WIDE PLACE.
40:46SH.
40:48>> HALLELUJAH.
40:50>> HALLELUJAH.
40:51>> HALLELUJAH.
40:54>> In the first eight verses, he deal with
40:55petition. But in the in the verses 9 to
40:5918, he deals with a paradox. Everybody
41:02shout a paradox. It is when you've got
41:05two things coming together that are
41:08seemingly
41:09mutually exclusive to each other. They
41:12they they by all indications these two
41:14things should not occur together. It it
41:17it's it's here when you when you read
41:20verses 9 to13 David talks about the
41:24depth of trouble. Everybody shout
41:26trouble. Hallelujah. He talks about the
41:28depth of trouble that he found himself
41:31in. He he began to reel them off before
41:34God. He says, "Lord, in this prolonged
41:37conflict, this conflict has gone on for
41:39too long, for for almost 15 years. Saul
41:43has persecuted me, has pursued me. I
41:47FEEL LIKE I'M FIGHTING EVERY DAY OF MY
41:50LIFE. THIS HAS GONE ON for too long."
41:54Has anything in your life gone on for
41:56too long? Yeah. HAS ANY HAVE YOU FELT
41:59LIKE ANY PROBLEM, ANY DIFFICULTY, any
42:02challenge, ANY TRIAL THAT THIS IS GOING
42:04ON FOR TOO LONG, GOD, AND I I JUST want
42:07a break FROM THIS. I JUST JUST STOP THIS
42:10RIDE. I NEED TO GET OFF OF THIS. Am I
42:12talking to anybody in this house? IT'S
42:14JUST ONE AFTER ANOTHER. Just one trial
42:17after another, ONE TROUBLE, ONE DEATH
42:20AFTER ANOTHER, ONE BAD DIAGNOSIS AFTER
42:22ANOTHER. JUST I I'M TIRED OF THIS. IT'S
42:25GONE on for too long. I hear David
42:28crying out to God and he says to God, he
42:30says, "God, this has gone on for too
42:32long that it's even affecting my body.
42:35My bones have grown weak. My eyes are
42:38weakened and swollen because I've just
42:40been grieving and crying for too long.
42:43And my heart is broken emotionally. I
42:46feel like I'm IN A BARREN PLACE. I'm I'm
42:49dealing with social isolation. I feel
42:52like a broken and a useless vessel. I
42:55used TO LEAD THE ARMY, but look at me
42:57now hiding out. Is there anybody here
43:00who has ever lamented and FELT SORRY FOR
43:02YOURSELF AND SAID, "GOD, look at me.
43:04Look at what I used to do. Look at where
43:06I used to be. I used to have so much
43:09money. I'm lending people money and look
43:11at where I am now. I can't even know
43:13where my meals are coming from. Am I
43:15talking to anybody? I I used to live in
43:17THE BEST PLACES, BUT NOW I'M ALMOST
43:19HOMELESS on the street." I've got a word
43:21for you. Trust in THE LORD WITH ALL
43:25[screaming] YOUR HEART.
43:28I feel the Holy Ghost. He says, "My
43:31close friends have abandoned me. My
43:33neighbors see me as a dead man. My
43:36enemies are actively conspiring to ruin
43:39my reputation and to take away my life.
43:43Yeah, I'm in the depth of trouble. I
43:45feel like I'm in the belly of trouble."
43:47But can I tell you something that I
43:49didn't tell you earlier about when God
43:51gives the devil permission to bring
43:53trouble in your life? Here it is. THAT
43:54WHEN GOD GIVES THE DEVIL permission to
43:57bring trouble into your life, he gives
44:00him a card, but it's not a resident
44:03card. He gives him a visitor's card.
44:06And you know when you go to visit the
44:08hospital or the prison and they give you
44:10that card, Pastor Chris, and they close
44:12that door behind you, but at some POINT
44:16YOU CAN'T STAY THERE. AT SOME POINT,
44:19THEY'RE GOING TO RING THE BELL. THEY'RE
44:20GOING TO GET ON the intercom. THEY'RE
44:22GOING TO CALL YOU, "OMAR WILLIAMS, YOUR
44:24VISITING TIME IS UP. YOU'VE GOT TO GET
44:26OUT OF HERE." AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY
44:28HERE? I HEAR GOD SAYING, "YES, I WILL
44:30ALLOW THE DEVIL TO TEMPT YOU. TROUBLE
44:33MAY COME YOUR WAY, BUT TROUBLE DOES NOT
44:36LAST ALWAYS. There is a TIME WHEN I PULL
44:40THAT CARD AND THAT DEVIL HAS GOT TO GET
44:43OUT OF YOUR WAY. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY
44:45HERE? SO THERE IS TROUBLE BUT IN THE
44:48MIDDLE OF TROUBLE THERE IS ALSO TRUST in
44:51God. Is there anybody in the house that
44:54CAN SAY I FEEL TROUBLED BUT LET ME
44:57DECLARE MY TRUST LIKE DAVID DID IN
44:59VERSES 14 to 18. I'm right in the middle
45:03OF AN INCREDIBLY DARK VALLEY. BUT LET ME
45:06GIVE YOU THE DECLARATION of my trust.
45:08Here it is. But I trust you, Lord. Is
45:10there anybody that can say that in the
45:11house? CAN ANYBODY LET IT RING OUT IN
45:13THE HOUSE? BUT I TRUST YOU, LORD. COME
45:16ON. THE DIAGNOSIS IS BLEAK. BUT I TRUST
45:20YOU, LORD. THE PROGNOSIS IS EVEN BLEEER,
45:23BUT I TRUST YOU, LORD. I FEEL LIKE
45:26PREACHING IN THIS PLACE. MY SOUL IS
45:28TIRED, BUT I TRUST YOU, LORD. I FEEL
45:31LIKE GIVING UP, BUT I TRUST YOU, LORD.
45:37HALLELUJAH. I don't know when this is
45:40going to end, but I trust you, Lord. DO
45:42I HAVE A WITNESS HERE? IS THERE anybody
45:44that want to lift your hand in THE HOUSE
45:45WITH ME AND SAY WHAT DAVID SAID? BUT I
45:49TRUST YOU, LORD. YEAH. YEAH. YEAH.
45:52WHATEVER YOU WANT TO PUT BEFORE IT, BUT
45:54AT THE TURNING POINT YOU SAY, "BUT I
45:57TRUST YOU, LORD. I TRUST YOU, MY SAVIOR.
46:02I TRUST YOU, GOD." [screaming]
46:05He said, "I trust you, Lord."
46:07Hallelujah. He said, "I trust you
46:10because my times are in your hands. My
46:15times are not in the hand of those who
46:18control the market. My times are not in
46:21the hands of the government. My times
46:24are not in the hands, said David, of
46:26those who are scheming to take my life
46:28away from me. No, no. My times are in
46:32the hand of God. And this is a paradox.
46:36The paradox is this, that you've got to
46:38be realistic about what your eye SEES
46:42WHILE STILL HOLDING ON TO WHAT YOUR SOUL
46:45KNOWS. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY HERE? My
46:48eye sees the enemies. My eye sees the
46:51fear on every hand. MY EYE SEES THEM
46:54TRYING TO uh to to try TO TAKE MY LIFE
46:57FOR ME. MY EYES SEE THEM TRYING to
47:01besiege me and to lock me in. But here's
47:04the deal. I CAN'T SEE GOD WITH MY NAKED
47:07EYES. BUT MY faith looks up to thee. Oh
47:12lamb.
47:14OH LAMB OF CALVARY. MY EYES SEE THE
47:17ENEMIES, the sickness, the betrayal, but
47:21my SOUL KNOWS THAT I HAVE A SOVEREIGN
47:24GOD WHO HAS all
47:28power in his hand. MY EYES SEE THE
47:32TROUBLES AND THE BETRAYAL, BUT MY SOUL
47:34KNOWS THAT AROUND me there is a
47:38battalion of angel. For the angel of the
47:42Lord encampeth
47:45ROUND ABOUT THEM THAT THAT SERVE GOD.
47:49YEAH. YEAH. YOU'VE GOT TO ACKNOWLEDGE
47:51WHAT YOUR EYE SEES, BUT MAKE SURE YOU
47:55HOLD ON TO WHAT YOUR SOUL KNOWS. MY SOUL
47:59KNOWS THAT GOD CARES ABOUT ME.
48:09He said, "Lord," he said, "my times are
48:13in your hand." That is, "My seasons are
48:16in your hand." Hallelujah. Yeah. Yeah.
48:18The fact that I have to run now, I'm in
48:21a season of running now. I'm in a season
48:24of persecution now, but my times are in
48:27your hand. And here's the deal. When the
48:29time of persecution is over, you're
48:31going to bring me out of persecution
48:34into my season of paradise. Am I talking
48:36to anybody here? I'm in my season of
48:38trouble now, but a time is coming when
48:41you will turn this around and my trouble
48:45will become my testimony. I Yeah. YEAH.
48:48I'M I'M IN MY TIME OF [snorts] PAIN NOW.
48:51BUT when you get ready, you will turn it
48:54around and my pain will give birth to my
48:58purpose. My times are in the hand of
49:02God. The problem with us is we can't see
49:06when the time is going to change. Lord,
49:07I feel the Holy Ghost. We We don't know
49:10when the time is going to change, but
49:12but I hear Iris Stanfield in in 1950, he
49:17pinned the words of this song. He said
49:20many things about tomorrow. God help me
49:23that I don't seem to understand. But
49:26here's the deal. But I know [laughter]
49:30I KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW
49:34AND I KNOW WHO HOLDS MY HAND. CAN I
49:38PAUSE HERE TO ASK YOU PENTAB? DO YOU
49:41KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW?
49:43DO YOU KNOW WHO HAS TOMORROW IN HIS
49:46HAND? DO YOU KNOW THE ONE THAT TOMORROW
49:50AND TODAY AND yesterday are ALL ALIKE?
49:54JESUS the same yesterday and today and
49:59forever. He's got tomorrow in his hand.
50:03And here's the deal. HE'S GOT MY LIFE IN
50:05HIS HAND CUZ I CAN'T see tomorrow. So I
50:09put my life in the hand of the one who
50:13holds tomorrow. Come on musicians. Let's
50:14get ready to go here. I put my life in
50:18the hand of God. IS THERE ANYBODY IN
50:20THIS HOUSE RIGHT NOW WHO CAN TESTIFY? I
50:24DON'T KNOW WHAT'S COMING DOWN THE PIPE
50:25TOMORROW, BUT I PUT IT IN GOD'S HAND. MY
50:29FAMILY IS IN GOD'S HAND. MY CHURCH IS IN
50:32GOD'S HAND. MY MINISTRY IS IN GOD'S
50:34HAND. MY JOB IS IN GOD'S HAND. MY
50:37MARRIAGE IS IN GOD'S HAND. MY MINISTRY
50:39IS IN GOD'S HAND. I I TRUST IN GOD. I
50:42FEEL THE HOLY GHOST. MY SAVIOR. HE'S THE
50:46ONE WHO NEVER FAILS. HE HAS NEVER FAILED
50:50BEFORE AND HE WON'T FAIL. IF YOU BELIEVE
50:54THAT IN THE HOUSE, shout it IN HERE. HE
50:57WON'T FAIL.
51:01He won't fail. Put your hand in the hand
51:05of the man who stills the waters. PUT
51:09YOUR HAND IN THE HAND OF THE MAN WHO
51:13KNOWS HOW TO CALM the sea. WHATEVER
51:17TOMORROW MAY BRINGS, WHATEVER STORMS MAY
51:20AWAIT you in tomorrow, whatever losses
51:23may await you in tomorrow, WHATEVER
51:26DISAPPOINTMENTS MIGHT BE THERE, MY LIFE
51:29IS IN THE hand of God. I FEEL THE HOLY
51:34GHOST IN HERE. I'VE ALREADY SAID TO HIM,
51:38"MASTER,
51:39THE TEMPEST IS RAGING AND THE BILLOWS
51:43ARE TOSSING HIGH." I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST
51:46IN HERE. FOR THEY [screaming] ALL
51:48[groaning]
51:49shall sweetly obey thy will. When you
51:54say, "Peace, be still."
51:57WHEN YOU SAY PEACE BE STILL, whether the
52:01storms, whether the wrath of THE STORM
52:04TOSS SEA OR DEMONS
52:07OR PEOPLE OR WHATEVER THEY MAY BE,
52:11WHATEVER COMES TOMORROW, THEY ALL
52:15SHALL SWEETLY
52:18OBEY THE WILL OF GOD. PUT YOUR HAND IN
52:22GOD'S HAND. PUT YOUR LIFE IN GOD'S HAND.
52:25FOR HE KNOWS TOMORROW.
52:29Somebody shout it in here. He knows my
52:33tomorrow. He knows my tomorrow. IF YOU
52:37HAVE NOT YET put your trust and your
52:39life IN THE HAND OF GOD, I urge you
52:42today, you don't even have to wait until
52:45the message is over. Run to the cross
52:49and say, "Lord, I put my trust in you.
52:53My [snorts] hope IS IN YOU, LORD. MY JOY
52:57IS IN YOU, LORD. I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST
53:00IN HERE. MY EVERYTHING IS IN YOU, LORD.
53:03[screaming]
53:06Shout glory in here. Let me close this
53:09message here. He talked about petitions.
53:12He talked about the paradox. But the
53:15third and the last movement in verses 19
53:18to 24, we see the praises that David
53:22gives unto God, he begins to praise God
53:26personally. [snorts]
53:27He gives a personal exaltation to God.
53:30In verses 19 to 22, David said, "You may
53:35have seen my STORY A FAR OFF. You may
53:38have seen my experience, Joab. You may
53:40have seen my experience as a hell. But
53:43here's the deal. I can't let you praise
53:46God for me
53:48[gasps] BECAUSE YOU SAW THE STORY, BUT
53:51you don't know with the internal
53:52struggle and what God had to bring me
53:55through internally. You don't know how
53:59every day I depended on God TO GET UP.
54:02MY GOD, AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY HERE?
54:05YEAH. YEAH. YEAH. the days when YOU
54:08DEPEND ON GOD JUST TO GET YOU UP IN the
54:12morning, JUST TO GET OUT OF BED in the
54:15morning because you know, I'm getting UP
54:18TO ANOTHER DAY OF DIFFICULTY AND
54:21CHALLENGE. I'm getting UP TO ANOTHER DAY
54:23OF NOT KNOWING WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN.
54:26YOU DON'T KNOW THOSE DAYS. SO, HERE IS
54:28THE DEAL. YOU CAN'T PRAISE GOD FOR ME
54:31LIKE I CAN PRAISE GOD FOR ME. I FEEL
54:34LIKE preaching in here. Oh God, why
54:38don't you look a neighbor in the eyes
54:40and say, "Neighbor,
54:42YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I'VE GONE THROUGH."
54:46COME ON, TELL HIM, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT
54:49GOD HAD TO PULL ME OUT OF. YOU DON'T
54:53KNOW HOW MANY DAYS I FELT LIKE CALLING
54:56IT QUITS." BUT GOD [screaming]
54:58[groaning]
55:00BUT GOD BROUGHT ME OUT. ALL RIGHT. YOU
55:04DON'T KNOW HOW MANY DAYS I WAS SO
55:08DOWNCAST, BUT GOD LIFTED ME UP. YOU
55:12DON'T KNOW HOW MANY DAYS I WAS DOWN, BUT
55:15HE LIFTED ME UP. YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MANY
55:19DAYS I FELT OUTSIDE, BUT HE PULLED ME
55:22IN. SO, let me praise him. LET ME
55:26GLORIFY HIM. Let me tell him thank you.
55:30Let me tell HIM I LOVE YOU, LORD. LET ME
55:33TELL HIM HALLELUJAH. [screaming]
55:39SOMEBODY TELL HIM HALLELUJAH IN THE
55:41HOUSE. COME ON, ZION. IS THERE ANYBODY
55:45IN HERE THAT like David, YOU WANT TO
55:48PAUSE FOR A SECOND AND JUST GIVE GOD
55:51YOUR PRAISE? Just give him a thank you,
55:54Lord. JUST GIVE HIM A HALLELUJAH SHOUT.
55:57JUST SAY THANK YOU.
56:01Thank you.
56:03Thank you. To you be all the glory. To
56:07you be all the praises. To you BE ALL
56:11THE ADORATION.
56:13THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
56:23[gasps] Can I read his words in your
56:25hearing? Let me read your words in his
56:27hearing. In his words, in your hearing,
56:30in these verses, HE SAID TO GOD, "OH,
56:33how great is your goodness which you
56:36have laid up for those who fear you,
56:39which you have prepared for those who
56:42trust in you in the presence of the sons
56:45of men. You shall hide them in the
56:49secret place of your presence, FROM THE
56:51PLOTS OF MEN. You shall keep them
56:55SECRETLY IN A PAVILION FROM THE STRIFE
56:58OF TONGUES. Blessed be the Lord. He has
57:03shown me his marvelous kindness in a
57:06strong and a besieged city. FOR I SAID
57:09IN MY HASTE, I AM CUT OFF FROM BEFORE
57:12YOUR EYES. But nevertheless, you
57:16[snorts] heard the voice of my
57:18supplications when I cried out to you.
57:21He's saying to God here, he said, "God,
57:25you heard ME WHEN I TOLD MYSELF I
57:29COULDN'T MAKE IT. LORD, I FEEL LIKE
57:30PREACHING HERE." He said, "WHEN I TOLD
57:33MYSELF THAT I AM CUT OFF, WHEN I TOLD
57:37MYSELF THERE'S NO WAY FOR ME TO come out
57:40of this," he said, "You heard me AND YOU
57:44SAID I GOT BETTER FOR YOU." AM I TALKING
57:45TO ANYBODY HERE? OH, GOD. He said, "WHEN
57:49PEOPLE TALKED ABOUT ME, WHEN they set
57:52their tongues on me, YOU DECIDED YOU
57:56WOULD NOT LET not one of the THINGS THEY
57:58TALKED ABOUT ME, YOU WOULD NOT LET IT
58:00COME TO PASS." THEY SAID MY LIFE WAS
58:03OVER, BUT YOU SAID, "I GOT A NEW
58:05BEGINNING for you." THEY SAID YOU'D
58:07NEVER RECOVER, BUT YOU BROUGHT ME OUT.
58:11THEY SAID YOU'D NEVER BE ANYTHING, BUT
58:13YOU GAVE ME THE THRONE. AM I TALKING TO
58:16ANYBODY HERE? HUH? GOD, when they turned
58:20against ME AND THEY PLOTTED TO TAKE MY
58:23LIFE, YOU HIDE ME in your pavilion. And
58:27he BROUGHT ME TO PSALM 91. HE THAT
58:31DWELLETH IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST
58:35HIGH shall
58:39shall ABIDE [snorts] UNDER THE SHADOW OF
58:43THE ALMIGHTY. SOMEBODY PUT YOUR HAND
58:45OVER YOUR HEAD. SAY, I'M HIDING UNDER
58:48THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY. I WILL SAY
58:53OF THE LORD, he is my refuge. HE IS MY
59:00FORTRESS. IN HIM I will trust. FOR
59:05SURELY HE SHALL DELIVER ME FROM THE
59:09SNARE OF THE FOWLER. I FEEL THE HOLY
59:11GHOST HERE. A THOUSAND SHALL FALL AT MY
59:15SIDE.
59:16AND 10,000
59:18AT MY RIGHT HAND, BUT IT SHALL NOT COME
59:22[snorts] NEAR ME, BUT ONLY WITH MINE
59:25EYES SHALL I SEE THE REWARD OF THE
59:29WICKED. IS THERE ANYBODY HERE THAT
59:32YOU'RE IN THE SECRET PLACE? YOU'RE IN
59:34THE PAVILION. YOU'RE IN THE PLACE,
59:37SHAMA, GOOD GOD FROM ON HIGH WHERE HE
59:41COVERS YOU IN THE TIME OF PRAYER. SHOUT,
59:44"I'M COVERED."
59:51SAY, "I'm covered." Say, "I'm covered."
59:55I feel the Holy Ghost in here. When
59:57David GOT DONE WITH ENCOURAGING HIMSELF
60:00AND praising God for himself, HE BEGAN
60:03TO COLLECTIVELY EXHORT THE others in
60:06verses 23 and 24. HIS TEST BECOMES A
60:10TESTIMONY. I FEEL THE HOLY Ghost here.
60:14HIS TRIAL BECOMES A TRIUMPH. LEANING
60:18HERE A PEN TAB. AND ALL THOSE UNDER THE
60:20SOUND OF MY VOICE. LET ME TELL YOU THIS.
60:23IT WON'T ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS. LORD, I
60:25FEEL LIKE PREACHING HERE. TEARS WON'T
60:28ALWAYS FLOW DOWN YOUR FACE. BUT AT SOME
60:32POINT, IF YOU HOLD ON TO GOD, IF YOU
60:36TRUST IN GOD, WHETHER YOU'RE ON THE
60:39MOUNTAINTOP OR IN THE VALLEY LOW, AT
60:43SOME POINT YOUR TEST WILL TURN TO A
60:46TESTIMONY, YOUR TRIAL WILL TURN TO
60:50TRIUMPH. AM I TALKING TO ANYBODY HERE?
60:53He turned to the people and he said,
60:56"Love the Lord, you faithful people, for
61:00the Lord PRESERVES THE FAITHFUL. GOD
61:05KEEPS YOU AND HE FULLY REPAYS THE PROUD
61:09PERSON." BE OF GOOD COURAGE. [snorts]
61:14BE OF GOOD COURAGE. WHATEVER YOU'RE
61:17GOING THROUGH, BE OF GOOD COURAGE.
61:20WHATEVER your lot, BE OF GOOD COURAGE. I
61:24FEEL LIKE PREACHING IN THIS PLACE. BE OF
61:27good courage and he shall strengthen
61:30YOUR HEART. YOU WHO hope in the Lord. I
61:34said, IS THERE ANYBODY IN THIS PLACE WHO
61:37STILL HAS A HOPE IN GOD? CAN I FIND 10
61:40WITNESS IN here [gasps] who you're going
61:42through, BUT YOUR HOPE IS STILL IN GOD?
61:46WELL, LET ME tell you this. Be of
61:49[snorts] good courage. I said be OF GOOD
61:51COURAGE. GOD HELP ME IN HERE. LOOK AT
61:55THAT NEIGHBOR AND SAY, "NEIGHBOR,
61:57BE OF GOOD COURAGE." IN OTHER WORDS,
62:00KEEP A SMILE ON YOUR FACE. NO MATTER
62:03WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH, DON'T LOSE
62:06YOUR JOY. [gasps] FOR THIS JOY THAT I
62:10HAVE, THIS JOY THAT YOU HAVE, the world
62:16didn't give it to you and the world
62:20can't take IT AWAY. CAN I GO OLD SCHOOL
62:23IN HERE? J
62:25OH WHY JOY. JOY IN THE Holy Ghost. J OH
62:31WHY JOY. JOY IN THE LORD. AND THEN WE'LL
62:36TELL A NEIGHBOR, DON'T LET NOBODY STEAL
62:39YOUR JOY. I WISH YOU'D TELL SOMEBODY IN
62:42THE HOUSE, DON'T LET NOBODY
62:45STEAL your joy. Joy,
62:50[snorts]
62:50joy
62:52in the Lord your God. JOY FOR [snorts]
62:56WHEN YOU WALK BY THE WAY I LEAD you on
63:00THE FATNESS OF THE LAND. I'LL FEED YOU
63:04AND THE MANSION IN THE SKIES. I'LL DEED
63:08YOU. AND THE HIGH PLACES THAT ARE
63:12AGAINST YOU AND THE HIGH PLACES THAT
63:16WANT TO CRUSH you [screaming]
63:19and the high PLACES
63:22[groaning]
63:23WILL BRING THEM DOWN. I'LL MAKE THE
63:25DARKNESS LIGHT BEFORE YOU. I FEEL THE
63:29HOLY GHOST IN HERE. SOMEBODY SHOUT, "JOY
63:32IN THE LORD." SAY, "I GOT JOY AFTER ALL
63:37I'VE BEEN THROUGH. I'M HOLDING ON TO
63:39JOY. I'VE LOST EVERYTHING, BUT I'M
63:42HOLDING ON TO JOY. I'VE LOST FAMILY,
63:46FINANCES, BUT I'M HOLDING ON TO JOY. MY
63:50HEALTH IS TOUCHED, BUT I'VE GOT JOY IN
63:53THE LORD, AND I'M HOLY. [screaming]
64:02Be of good courage. Be of good courage.
64:06Can I go Lord God? [laughter] I Lady
64:08Stewart, I feel an old school spirit on
64:11me this morning. Can I go old school one
64:14more time like they would DO IN THE OLD
64:16school that would say, "Put your arms
64:18around your neighbor." Come on, find one
64:21neighbor. IF THAT'S YOUR HUSBAND OR YOUR
64:24WIFE, ask him, "Neighbor, can I put my
64:27arms around you?" AND IF THEY SAY YES,
64:31PUT your [snorts] arms around YOUR
64:33NEIGHBOR AS I GET READY TO CLOSE IN THIS
64:36HOUSE AND DO LIKE THEY DID IN THE OLD
64:39SCHOOL AND TELL YOUR NEIGHBOR, "BE NOT
64:42DISMAYED
64:44WHATEVER BET YOU." COME ON, TELL HIM
64:47AGAIN. BE NOT DISMAYED.
64:50WHATEVER BESIDE YOU, GOD WILL
64:54TAKE CARE OF YOU. BENEATH HIS WINGS
64:58[snorts] OF LOVE ABIDE, GOD
65:02GOD [groaning]
65:04will
65:07He'll take care OF YOU. BE OF GOOD
65:10COURAGE.
65:12BE OF good courage, elders.
65:14SHIA,
65:16BE OF GOOD COURAGE, PASTOR. BE OF GOOD
65:19COURAGE, ELDER. LIFT YOUR FAITH UP. PICK
65:22YOUR FEET UP. PICK YOUR FACE UP. BE OF
65:26GOOD COURAGE. PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE
65:29AND A SMILE ON YOUR FACE CUZ YOU'VE GOT
65:32JOY
65:33unspeakable
65:35and full of glory. THE HALF HAS NEVER
65:47HALLELUJAH.
65:49HALLELUJAH.
65:50HALLELUJAH. HALLELUJAH. Put your hand.
65:54Hallelujah. Put your hand in the hand of
65:56the man. Never forget the song from the
65:591990s when evangelist Reard Bonnke came
66:03to Jamaica. And this was one of his
66:05theme song for the crusade he had in
66:08Jared Park way back in the 1990s.
66:11That song stayed with me as a child, as
66:14a young man until now. Put your hand,
66:17hallelujah, in the hand of the one who
66:20can steal THE WATER. HASHIA,
66:23I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST IN MY SOUL HERE. I
66:26SAID, PUT YOUR HAND IN THE HAND OF THE
66:28ONE WHO STEAL THE WATERS. PUT YOUR HAND
66:32IN THE HAND OF THE one who calms the
66:35sea. PUT YOUR HAND IN GOD'S HAND AND
66:40WALK ON FROM HERE WITH FAITH IN YOUR GOD
66:44FOR HE HAS GOT YOU.
66:49He's got you. Even in a besieged city,
66:53he's got you in a failing economy. He's
66:56got you. God, thank you. Hallelujah. IN
67:00ADVERSARIAL TIMES, HE'S GOT YOU. PUT
67:03YOUR TRUST IN GOD AND DO WHAT DAVID
67:07SAID. He said, "My times are in your
67:11hands. Love the Lord." Take courage in
67:14the Lord AND HOLD ON TO YOUR hope in
67:18God. I want to open this altar tonight
67:21today to somebody, somebody in this
67:24house that want to learn how to put your
67:26life in God's hands. Cuz can I tell you
67:29this? When David put his life in God's
67:33hands, here's the deal. He thought he
67:36was about to lose everything.
67:39But in only a few years, he had the
67:42throne of of of Judah. And a few more
67:45years, in 10 more years, he had the
67:49throne of all Israel. When you put your
67:51hand IN GOD'S HAND, YOU DON'T LOSE
67:53ANYTHING. IT MAY TAKE A WHILE. YOU MAY
67:55STRUGGLE A WHILE. TEARS MAY FLOW DOWN
67:58YOUR FACE. BUT IF YOUR LIFE IS IN GOD'S
68:00HANDS, you will not miss out on what God
68:03has for you.
68:06When Jesus said, "Into thine hand I
68:08commit my spirit." The altar is open to
68:11somebody who wants to come, somebody
68:13discouraged,
68:15somebody broken, somebody [music] in
68:16despair, somebody who needs the Lord in
68:18your life today. I open this altar for
68:21you today. Here's the deal. When Jesus
68:23said, "Into thy hands I commit my
68:24spirit." The Bible said he died. He gave
68:27up the ghost. They buried him in a bar
68:30tomb. Hallelujah. Stay there Friday
68:32night. Stay there Saturday night. But
68:36here's the deal. Early Sunday morning,
68:39he came up with all power to save you
68:42and you and you and me. That is to say,
68:46his truest purpose was not derailed when
68:50he put his life in God's hands.
68:55God can take care of you. your family,
68:59your faith, your finances. He's got you.
69:03Put your life in God's hands. I open the
69:07altar to somebody who wants to come.
69:08Thank you for coming. We got one already
69:10in the altar. Thank you for coming.
69:12Don't be afraid. Don't be shy. Talk to
69:15God in prayer. He wants to hear your
69:17voice. Tell him what's on your heart and
69:20your mind. Tell him the things you can't
69:22tell anybody. I believe that there may
69:24be somebody else in the house today who
69:27needs to put your life in the hand of
69:32God. Your soul, the very essence of who
69:36you are today. You need to put it in
69:39God's hands. The altar is open for you.
69:43Maybe like David, you're already saved,
69:46already stepped out on the call of God,
69:49but you feel bewildered.
69:51You feel like you're running from one
69:53problem to another.
69:55My God,
69:57the snare of the enemy is just out and
70:00after you and your family and your
70:02children.
70:03But can you say one more time? Lord, in
70:05your hands I commit my very spirit, the
70:10essence of who I am. All that I am, I
70:13give you.
70:14All that I have, I give you.
70:18I put this, that, this, and that. I put
70:21it all in the hand of God where it is
70:25safe.
70:26I cast my cares on you for your care for
70:30me. I open the altar to you right now
70:34sh
70:35God. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
70:39Thank you. I put it all in the hand of
70:42the Lord. Yes. Let's pray singers.
