0:11chapter 16. I will only read a few
0:14verses there, and if you can also find 2
0:17Samuel 5 and verse 4.
0:22So, 1 Samuel 16
0:26and 2 Samuel 5 verse 4. And while you
0:28search for it, let me use the
0:29opportunity to greet my pastor, Pastor

0:40choristers, all my brothers and sisters.

0:52Now, if you have found it with me, we
0:54could start at verse
0:56six of
0:58Samuel 16. And it came to pass
1:02when they were come
1:04that he looked on Eliab and said,
1:06"Surely the Lord's anointing is before
1:08me."
1:09But the Lord said unto Samuel, "Look not
1:12on his countenance,
1:14nor on his height or his stature,
1:17because I have refused him, for the Lord
1:20seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh
1:24on the outward appearance,
1:26but the Lord looketh on the heart."
1:30Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him
1:33pass before Samuel.
1:35And he said, "Neither have the Lord
1:38chosen this."
1:40Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by, and
1:42he said, "Neither have the Lord chosen
1:45this."
1:46Again, Jesse made seven of his sons pass
1:49before Samuel.
1:51And Samuel said unto Jesse, "The Lord
1:53had not chosen these."
1:56And Samuel said unto Jesse, "Are there
1:59are here all thy children?" And he said,
2:02"There remaineth yet the youngest."
2:06It is youth service.
2:09Yet remaineth the youngest.
2:12And behold, he keepeth the sheep.
2:15And Samuel said unto Jesse, "Send and
2:18fetch him.
2:19For we will not sit down till he come
2:21hither."
2:23And he sent and brought him.
2:26Now, he was ruddy and with tall of
2:29beautiful countenance and goodly to
2:31look, too. And the Lord said, "Arise,
2:34anoint him, for this is he."
2:37Then Samuel took the horn of oil and
2:40anointed him in the midst of his
2:43brethren.
2:44And the spirit of the Lord came upon
2:49David from that day.
2:52If we could quickly look at 2 Samuel
2:565:4,
2:58and I'll just read a small part of it.
3:01David was 30 years old when he began to
3:04reign.
3:06You may be seated.
3:08Today, I would
3:10like to speak to us on the topic
3:13after his own heart.
3:16And I was led to this topic
3:18considering the church's quarterly
3:20theme,
3:23which is the foundation,
3:25as well as recognizing the theme for the
3:28year,
3:2930 years of grace,
3:31focusing on Jesus.
3:34And when we talk or think about
3:36foundations,
3:38we must understand something important.
3:41The spiritual foundation begins
3:44in the heart.
3:46Not just the physical organ, but the
3:48inner life.
3:50The place
3:51for the decisions, desires, convictions,
3:55and devotion to God.
3:58When God searched for a king, for a
4:00remnant for Israel, the Bible say God
4:03was not looking for talent or stature,
4:07but a heart.
4:09The Bible says God found David, a man
4:12after his own heart.
4:15But before we explore David's heart, let
4:18us first consider the human heart's
4:20condition and complexity.
4:25To help us visualize the complexity of
4:27the heart, I would like to share two
4:30stories.
4:32About a month ago, my 79-year-old mother
4:35visited a specialist at her
4:36gynecologist's recommendation.
4:39She had been experiencing persistent
4:41pain in her lower abdomen.
4:44And after several ex-
4:46examination and tests, the doctors
4:49discovered that the pain was being
4:50caused by a tumor.
4:53She also complained for shortness of
4:55breath
4:57and swelling of what remains of her
4:59legs.
5:01The specialist explains that surgery
5:03could have
5:04relieved her of the pain
5:07by removing the tumor.
5:10However, heart failure, he explained,
5:12prevents blood flow causing the pain and
5:16the swelling.
5:20When reviewing her condition, he gave
5:23the difficult news.
5:25He said it appears as if mom heart was
5:28too weak for surgery.
5:31He reviewed her history and pointed to
5:33traumatic experience that weakened her
5:36heart over time.
5:38She had endured the loss of her
5:40daughter,
5:41the only girl in from her four children.
5:45And within a year she experienced the
5:47amputation of her right leg.
5:50The following year she buried her
5:53husband.
5:55Within weeks of burying my father,
5:58she had to amputate her second leg.
6:05Now, during this difficult season of her
6:08life,
6:09she had also suffered two
6:11minor heart attacks,
6:13leaving her heart functioning
6:16far below its optimal capacity.
6:20Life had placed tremendous weight on her
6:23heart.
6:25Now, around about the same time a
6:27well-known 45-year-old
6:29artist publicly shared that he had been
6:32hospitalized with severe pneumonia and
6:35pain of his heart.
6:37Doctors reportedly said his heart was
6:39functioning at 25% capacity.
6:43He admitted openly that years of
6:46partying,
6:47drugs and alcohol and reckless living
6:50had likely contributed to the condition
6:53of his heart.
6:55Now, here we have two different stories,
6:58two different individuals.
7:01One heart was weakened by the natural
7:04causes of life,
7:06while the other heart was weakened based
7:09on the choices, self-
7:12induced.
7:16Yet, both reveal something very
7:18important.
7:20And brothers and sisters, that is that
7:22no matter who we are,
7:25everyone of us is living with a heart
7:28that must be guarded.
7:32The heart's complexity is not just
7:35physical,
7:36but it's also spiritual.
7:40The spiritual nature of the heart tells
7:42us in Proverbs or explain to us in
7:45Proverbs 4:23,
7:48where it states, "Keep thy heart with
7:50all diligence, for out of it are the
7:54issues of life."
7:56In other words, everything that we do
7:59flows from our heart.
8:02Our decisions flow from the heart. And
8:06this is why sometimes we often say, "I
8:09like following my heart."
8:13Our characters
8:14flows from our heart, and sometimes we
8:17would say, "In my heart, I feel or I
8:20know that I am this type of individual."
8:23Also, our relationship
8:26flows from our heart, and that is why
8:29when we express ourself, when we talk
8:32about love, we often would say that I
8:35love you with all my heart. And the flip
8:39side to it is that when we are annoyed
8:41by someone sometimes, and I pray that we
8:43are not guilty of this, but there are
8:45times when individuals would say that I
8:48hate you with all my heart.
8:52But most importantly, our obedience to
8:54God flows from our heart.
8:58And there is a challenge in knowing
9:00this.
9:01And that is our heart can be
9:03unpredictable.
9:05Jeremiah 17:9 tells us the heart is
9:08deceitful above all things and
9:11desperately wicked. Who can know it?
9:16Now, when the Bible speaks of the heart,
9:18it is not speaking only about the
9:20physical organ that is beating in our
9:23chest.
9:25The Bible is referring to the inner man,
9:27the seat of the will, the mind, the
9:30conscience, and the spiritual
9:31orientation towards God. And this is why
9:34when Jesus was asked which of the
9:36greatest commandment there is, he
9:38responded by saying that thou should
9:40love the Lord thy God with all
9:46Bible scholars in the
9:48assembly.
9:50Now, because the heart is the center of
9:52our spiritual life, God is deeply
9:56concerned with the condition of our
9:59hearts.
10:00And this brings me to my first point,
10:03the heart is the spiritual foundation.
10:06Looking at 1 Samuel 16, in the chapter
10:09we see where Israel was transitioning
10:12from one leadership, from Saul, going on
10:15to David.
10:17And Saul, to everyone, looked like a
10:20king.
10:22Saul looked strong.
10:24Saul looked impressive. Saul had the
10:27characteristic that we all would think a
10:30king should be. But Saul's heart was not
10:34aligned with God.
10:36And when God sent the prophet Samuel to
10:39anoint the next king, Samuel initially
10:42looks at David, older brother, Eliab,
10:45and assumed that he must be the one.
10:49And you have to
10:50sympathize with Samuel. It's not that
10:53Samuel did not align with God's heart,
10:56but Samuel thought he understood God's
10:59heart because initially it was God that
11:02told Samuel to anoint Saul as king. And
11:06when Israel went to Samuel and said that
11:10we realize that all the nations around
11:13us
11:14have a king leading them. The king had a
11:17certain characteristic, and as a result,
11:20Israel desired a king, and Israel
11:22desired that the king should have the
11:24same characteristic as the countries
11:27that they saw surrounding them. But
11:30brothers and sisters, I would like to
11:31tell you that the things that you see
11:34around you, the things that you see the
11:36world do are not necessarily things of
11:39God. And the things that are of the
11:41world should not be things that are
11:44placed within the body of God.
11:50Now, Samuel went to God and let God know
11:54that the people needed a king.
11:57It was never God's intention for Israel
11:59to have any king.
12:02But Israel needed a man.
12:05And the irony of that is they asked for
12:09a man, and when God himself came as a
12:11man,
12:12up to today, Israel has refused that
12:15man.
12:18But they asked for a man, and the good
12:20thing about God is that whether you live
12:23for God or whether you live for the
12:25devil, that God gives you the desire of
12:28your heart. So, because Israel desired a
12:31king with someone that will have all the
12:34characteristic that they see of the
12:36world, God gave them that.
12:39Brothers and sisters, be careful of the
12:41things that you desire of God.
12:47Oftentimes in our life, we find
12:49ourselves in circumstances.
12:52We find ourselves whether with a
12:53partner, and we wonder why is it that
12:56our lives are miserable.
13:00Sometimes we find our children acting in
13:03certain situation and in certain ways
13:05that are ungodly, and we wonder why is
13:08it that our children are this way?
13:11But, have we considered what we have
13:13desired in our heart when we went to
13:15God?
13:16Because God will give us the desire of
13:18our hearts.
13:21So, God chose
13:23Saul to lead Israel based on what Israel
13:27required.
13:29Now when
13:30Samuel saw the firstborn of Jesse, he
13:34realized that he had all the
13:35characteristic
13:37of Saul.
13:38So, then he said, "Yes, this one
13:40definitely is the one that God wants me
13:43to anoint because he has all the
13:45characteristic of Saul."
13:49But, the Bible tells us that God
13:51responded with these powerful words,
13:54"Man looketh on the outward appearance,
13:56but the Lord looketh on the heart."
14:00Church, this is a reminder that God
14:02evaluates not what we see, but what we
14:06cannot see.
14:10People often evaluates
14:13resume,
14:15but God evaluates DNA.
14:19The resume shows what you have,
14:22all your credential, but your DNA shows
14:25what you are made of.
14:33Jeremiah states, "I the Lord search the
14:36heart.
14:38I try the reins."
14:41People evaluate appearance, but God
14:44evaluates adherence.
14:48Are you able to commit to my will?
14:51Will you be devoted to me?
14:54Can you be loyal to me?
14:58And this is why the Bible says, "For as
15:00many that are led by the spirit of God,
15:03in other words, for as many that are
15:06devoted to me, in other words, for as
15:09many that are loyal TO ME, THEY ARE THE
15:13SONS of God.
15:17People evaluate performance,
15:19but God evaluates conformance and
15:23transformance.
15:25And this is why Romans 12:2 tells us,
15:28"And be he not conformed to this world,
15:31but be HE TRANSFORMED BY THE RE-
15:39Thank you, Jesus.
15:44The Bible says in Psalms 51 and verse
15:4910,
15:50"To create in me a clean heart, oh God,
15:53and renew the right spirit within me."
15:57Because the true church of Jesus is not
16:00built on appearance, but it's built on
16:03transformation of the heart.
16:07Notice here David did not ask God to fix
16:10the circumstances.
16:12It is easy for us to fix the
16:14circumstances when the root cause is
16:17still there. Still leaves a problem.
16:21I've often heard the terminology, "You
16:23don't put Band-Aid on a sore."
16:26Cuz what that does is it just cover it
16:28up.
16:30Temporarily.
16:32And all my health care physicians in the
16:34house can testify to that. You treat it
16:36at the source of the cause.
16:40Now, he asked God to renew his heart.
16:43Because David understood something that
16:45many people forget. If God transform the
16:49heart, then everything in our life
16:52begins to change.
16:55It is with the transformation of the
16:57heart that things fall into place.
17:00The Bible states in Proverbs 27:19,
17:04"As in water face
17:06answereth to face, so heart of a man to
17:09a man." In other words, just as the
17:11water shows the reflection of a man's
17:13face, so does the heart shows the
17:16reflection of a man.
17:18Our lives are simple reflection of our
17:20hearts. Our actions reveals our heart.
17:25In other words,
17:27reveal your heart or or words, I'm
17:30sorry, reveals our heart. And in Matthew
17:3312:34, Jesus said, "O ye generation of
17:37vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak
17:40good things? For out of the abundance of
17:43the heart, the mouth speaketh. A good
17:46man out of good treasures of his heart
17:48bringeth forth good things, and an evil
17:51man out of the evil treasures bringeth
17:53forth evil things." Our priorities
17:57reveals our heart. In that specific
17:59scripture, Jesus had just performed a
18:02miracle.
18:05And the Pharisees referred to him as
18:08Satan.
18:11And what Jesus answered and said from
18:14what I just read is that you could come
18:16up with that conclusion because in the
18:19inner part of you is what is seated in
18:22you.
18:23IF YOU HAD RIGHTEOUSNESS INSIDE OF YOU,
18:26WHAT COMES OUT OF YOU WOULD HAVE been
18:27righteousness.
18:32Thank you, Jesus.
18:39Now, David was not a perfect man.
18:45So, when I mention
18:47that God sought after someone after his
18:49own heart, not that David was Superman.
18:53He wasn't a mutant.
18:56He wasn't a part of Marvel or DC.
19:00He was flesh and blood just like you and
19:02I.
19:04So, it's no excuse for me or you to have
19:08a heart like David that seeks after God.
19:14David sinned just like everyone of us
19:17sinned.
19:18David failed. David made mistake.
19:22But David
19:24always returned to God whenever he
19:27sinned. And that is the unique thing
19:30about David.
19:32He repented.
19:36When David was corrected, he humbled
19:38himself.
19:39When he fell short, he returned to God.
19:42And that is what made him a man after
19:44God's own heart. Theologian will explain
19:47to us that sin, in simple term, is to
19:51miss the mark of God.
19:55And that is what David understood that
19:57each time that I miss the mark of God,
20:00that I have an opportunity to go back to
20:03try to get that mark.
20:07His son in Proverbs wrote that
20:11a righteous man falleth seven times
20:15and rise seven times.
20:18But, the wicked man
20:20falls
20:22into destruction. And notice, seven
20:25times the just man falls, but he
20:28stands up or he gets up seven times.
20:33And when I think of
20:35the fact that this was written by
20:37David's son, Solomon,
20:40it begs me to wonder that could Solomon
20:42have learned this from what he have seen
20:45in his father.
20:47Throughout the Bible, we see that the
20:49some of David's wives were referred to
20:53as husbands of someone else.
20:56For example, Bathsheba, most of the time
20:58you would see that Bathsheba and then
21:00they would specify who she is and they
21:03would say the wife of Uriah.
21:08They would also speak of
21:10Abigail and say the wife of Nabal.
21:15So, I presume that Solomon saw David
21:19sinning and understood that David sinned
21:22and maybe he had his father in his mind
21:24when he wrote that.
21:27But each time, as he said, "Seven times
21:29they fall, seven times they rise."
21:34We are not perfect. We will fall, but
21:37the thing is, what do we do when we
21:39fall? Young people, we're not perfect.
21:43BUT WE DON'T STAY DOWN WHEN WE FALL.
21:46WE GET UP AND WE GO FOR THE MARK. WE
21:49PRESS.
21:54David even
21:56spoke frequently about iniquity.
21:59"Behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in
22:03sin did my mother conceive me."
22:06And the word iniquity refers to the
22:08inner bend of the heart towards sin.
22:12Distorted truth. The deeper patterns
22:15beneath our actions.
22:19And if I can
22:21give you an analogy,
22:23I've heard it somewhere. I can't say
22:24where to credit the original source.
22:29But the analogy is this is clean water.
22:33I drank from it earlier, but it's still
22:35clean.
22:38Having clean water
22:40and having a dirty glass.
22:44Now, once you pour the clean water in a
22:48dirty glass,
22:50whatever is then poured out from that
22:53glass is contaminated.
22:57And that is what distortion
23:00means for iniquity.
23:04And that's is why David could say that
23:07in I was shaping in iniquity and in sin
23:11because initially God made everything
23:14good in the book of Genesis.
23:16But because sin had entered into the
23:18world,
23:20everything that is now poured into the
23:22glass comes out contaminated.
23:27Ezequiel in the 28th chapter and verse
23:3015 states, "Thou was perfect in thy ways
23:35from the day that thou was created till
23:37iniquity was found in thee."
23:41And we know who is referring to there.
23:44The cherubim angel,
23:46Lucifer, Satan. Isaiah states it this
23:50way,
23:51"How art thou fallen from heaven, oh
23:53Lucifer, son of the morning?
23:56How thou can cut down to the ground
23:58which did weaken the nation? For thou
24:01has said in thine heart,
24:03I will ascend into heaven and exalt my
24:06throne above the stars of God.
24:09I will sit also upon the mount of the
24:12congregation
24:13in the side of the north. And I will
24:16ascend above the heights of the clouds.
24:19And I will be like the most high."
24:23David understood that the real battle
24:26was not simple behavior.
24:29The real battle was the condition of our
24:32heart.
24:38Now, if the heart is the spiritual
24:40foundation
24:42then I beg the question
24:46how do we develop a heart that reflects
24:48the heart of God?
24:51And this brings me to my second point.
24:54A heart a heart of the God cultivates
24:57compassion.
24:59Before David ever wore a crown
25:03he had a shepherd's staff.
25:06Before he wore the robe of purple or
25:09blue as does in royalty, he wore
25:11shepherd garments.
25:14The scripture tells us in 1 Samuel 17:15
25:18David went and returned from Saul to
25:22feed his father's sheep.
25:28Remember that in your thoughts.
25:30He left the house of Saul to feed his
25:33father's sheep.
25:35Long before there was the battlefield,
25:37long before there was the throne
25:39David was learning how to cultivate how
25:43to care for people.
25:47When David went to Saul to prove that he
25:49could face Goliath, what he did to
25:51convince him is to share his testimony
25:54of his compassion of his selflessness
25:58towards his sheep.
26:03David said that a lion came to attack a
26:05bear came to attack and I technically
26:08gave my life in defending
26:11my father's sheep.
26:15NOW WHO DO WE KNOW SAY THAT I AM THE
26:18GREAT SHEPHERD?
26:19And the great shepherd
26:21gives his life
26:23for his sheep.
26:31David was learning to care.
26:35Those quiet days in the fields
26:39were not just
26:40seasons or just random occasion.
26:43They were training grounds for
26:45compassion.
26:47Every sheep that David watched over
26:51taught him something.
26:53He learned responsibility.
26:56He learned patience.
26:59And that is
27:00very important
27:03when we often refer to the fruit of the
27:06Spirit.
27:07We like the love, we love the peace, we
27:11like the joy,
27:12but nobody likes to suffer long.
27:17Nobody likes to suffer long.
27:20We're living in a world that everything
27:21is done
27:23at quick speed.
27:25We're living in a microwave society.
27:30But David learned patience
27:33and tenderness.
27:35He learned how to protect the weak.
27:38Searching for the wandering.
27:41He learned how to run after the busy
27:43feet.
27:46And if you purchase one of the books,
27:47you would get that.
27:50But if not, speak to me after church.
27:53I'll point you to the author.
27:58And it's no coincidence that when Jesus
28:02was risen and he spoke to Simon
28:06and he asked Simon when he was restoring
28:09Simon
28:10because we all know that he denied Jesus
28:12Christ.
28:14But when Jesus saw him and he was
28:16restoring his faith,
28:19he asked him this question or these
28:21words, "Simon, do you love me?"
28:25And he asked him three times
28:28to which Simon answer
28:30and Jesus reply would be
28:32feed my sheep.
28:36Earlier I read that David left the
28:39presence of the king to go and feed his
28:43father's sheep.
28:47And I say thank you. I see the elders,
28:49my pastor and the elders on the front
28:51row.
28:52Thanks to the men that feed God's sheep.
28:56[snorts]
29:02BECAUSE DAVID HAD A HEART AFTER GOD.
29:07He developed compassion for people.
29:10A shepherd heart care for the weak.
29:13And that is why we serve through our
29:14pastoral care,
29:16through care Inc., through member care.
29:20A shepherd heart protect the vulnerable
29:23and that is why we invest in our
29:24children. And that is why we have
29:27Pentaver Academy.
29:28A SHEPHERD HEART GUIDE THOSE WHO ARE
29:30LOST and this is why we have ministry
29:33that reach out to the prisoners.
29:39But let me try to encourage someone
29:41specifically today.
29:44Sometimes the greatest giants that we
29:46face
29:48are not the ones that are standing
29:51on the battlefield.
29:58Sometimes they are the voices that
30:01questions or our motives,
30:04MISUNDERSTAND our purpose
30:07or try to diminish what God has placed
30:11in our hearts.
30:15You see when David arrived to the
30:17battlefield, the Bible tells us that
30:20Jesse called for David
30:24and said that I've prepared meals for
30:27your brothers who are serving in the
30:28military.
30:32WHEN DAVID ARRIVED AT THE BATTLEFIELD,
30:35his own brother
30:37criticized him.
30:44Can I be real?
30:49One of the most heartbreaking thing
30:54is when you are doing something
30:56sincerely
30:58from your heart
31:00and the receiving end receives it
31:03another way.
31:10Is there ANYBODY THAT I'VE DONE
31:11SOMETHING from the the lowest depth
31:15of your heart
31:18AND WHEN THE ACT HAS BEEN DONE, YOU HAVE
31:21BEEN CRITICIZED
31:23and you knew that with every bit of you,
31:26YOU MEANT ALL GOOD.
31:29IT IS ONE OF THE WORST FEELINGS.
31:34As a male,
31:36a man, I believe I'm a leader.
31:40Being criticized wrongfully had led me
31:42to
31:43tears.
31:45And if I could use
31:47my home dialect,
31:50IT CAUSED ME FOR BALL.
31:56NO JOKE.
32:00In 1 Samuel 17:28,
32:04Eliab accused David of pride and
32:08questioned his intention.
32:11And I'm going to read it for us to hear
32:15what it is that his brother
32:18had to say.
32:30And Eliab,
32:32his elder brother, heard when he spake
32:34unto the men.
32:36This is after David went to the battle
32:38and saw Goliath and he questioned, "Why
32:41is no one doing anything?" Speaking of
32:44compassion, David saw that Israel needed
32:48a defender.
32:50And as a matter of fact, just to stick a
32:52point, I personally believe, pastor,
32:55that Goliath was not even David's giant.
33:02You see, if you follow what the Bible
33:04says,
33:05initially, Israel had asked for a king
33:09to lead.
33:13So, if the king is leading, any issue
33:17that the kingdom face is the
33:20responsibility
33:22of the king.
33:25So, David took on a giant that was not
33:29even his.
33:32Is there any greater compassion?
33:36Is there any greater compassion when you
33:38can see that your brother and sister is
33:40in a fight that THEY CANNOT WIN?
33:44BUT YOU HAVE FAITH IN A GOD
33:47THAT YOU GO AND YOU FIGHT FOR YOUR
33:50BROTHER AND YOUR SISTER.
33:52IS THERE ANY greater compassion?
34:00Getting back to the scripture,
34:03I went off a little bit.
34:10And Eliab,
34:11his elder brother, heard when he speak
34:14unto the men
34:15and Eliab's anger was kindled against
34:18David.
34:20And he said, "Why came thou down hither?
34:24And with whom
34:27thou left those few sheep in the
34:29wilderness?
34:31I know thy pride
34:35and the naughtiness
34:37of thine heart."
34:40Can you imagine?
34:44This
34:45young man is willing to fight for you.
34:51And based on the odds, it was an
34:54impossible odds.
34:56Technically, DAVID WAS WILLING TO DIE.
35:01AND YOUR RESPONSE
35:03WAS that I see the pride in your HEART
35:06AND THE NAUGHTINESS.
35:10MAY GOD have mercy on us.
35:16May God have mercy on us.
35:19BUT DAVID DIDN'T ALLOW THE CRITICISM to
35:22get to him.
35:23Instead,
35:25David asked these words,
35:28"Is there not a cause?"
35:44Pentecostal Tabernacle, I ask us today,
35:49"Is there not a cause?"
35:56Do we have the compassion for the young
35:58people?
36:01Do we CARRY OUR OWN BURDENS?
36:07Do we CRY OUT FOR THOSE WHO ARE
36:08SUFFERING?
36:11Do we remember our brothers and sisters
36:13whose children are in the hospital?
36:16Or do WE CONTINUE LIVING OUR LIVES
36:18BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY CHILD, I'M OKAY?
36:22DO WE MOURN WITH THE WIDOWS?
36:29DO WE FEEL OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS'
36:31PAIN?
36:35HOW DO WE SHOW OUR COMPASSION?
36:40Help us, Jesus.
36:43David asks a question, is there not a
36:44cause?
36:48That question reveals something
36:50profound.
36:52David's heart was not moved by pride.
36:57David was not caring about who is seeing
37:01him.
37:05If you NOTICE WHEN DAVID WAS ANOINTED,
37:10David was not even there at the initial
37:13stage.
37:16THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT
37:19THE MAN OF GOD, SAMUEL, CAME TO
37:21Jerusalem
37:23and he got Jesse's sons,
37:26which David is a part of,
37:28and he sanctified them,
37:32and he made SACRIFICES UNTO GOD.
37:38They were set apart and sanctified.
37:43David was not there.
37:47DAVID WAS NOT SANCTIFIED.
37:51BUT YET, HE ASKS, is there not a cause?
37:58Is there anybody among us?
38:00IS THERE ANYBODY VIEWING ONLINE?
38:02You feel AS IF YOU WERE NEVER SANCTIFIED
38:06by the tradition.
38:09YOU WERE NOT SEEN
38:12BY THE LEADERS.
38:14YOU WERE NOT SEEN BY THE PUBLIC.
38:18YOU WERE NOT AT THE ALTAR WHEN THE
38:20SACRIFICE WAS BEING DONE.
38:23BUT I WANT TO TELL YOU THAT GOD IS STILL
38:27SEARCHING FOR A HEART.
38:34You may have BEEN IN THE CHURCH AND YOU
38:35HAVE MADE A MISTAKE.
38:37AND THE MISTAKE IS KNOWN TO THE PUBLIC.
38:41BUT GOD IS STILL SEARCHING for a heart.
38:49WHEN THE WORLD SEES YOU AS THE
38:51BACKSLIDER,
38:52AS THE ONE WHO HAD CHILD OUTSIDE OF
38:54WEDLOCK,
38:56AS THE ONE WHO IS STRUGGLING,
38:59THE ONE WHO DID DRUGS,
39:01THE ONE WHO TATTOOED THEMSELVES,
39:03THE ONE WHO DID THEIR HAIR IN CERTAIN
39:05WAY,
39:06GOD IS SAYING, "I AM STILL searching for
39:11a heart."
39:12Men look on the outside appearance,
39:16but all I am seeing IS YOUR HEART. IS
39:20THERE A HEART THAT HUNGER AND THIRST
39:22AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS?
39:26GOD IS SEARCHING FOR A HEART.
39:44THEREFORE, there is no condition
39:46condemnation for them that are in Christ
39:49Jesus.
39:52Walk not after the flesh, but after the
39:54spirit.
39:56God sees your heart.
39:59God sees your heart.
40:07When God begins to shape our heart,
40:12we start seeing people differently.
40:17We start caring about what God cares
40:20about.
40:22Not the trivial stuff.
40:28Not the way people perceive you.
40:40But compassion
40:42is only possible when we allow God to
40:44transform our hearts.
40:47The Lord declares in Ezekiel 36:26,
40:53"A new heart also will I give you, and a
40:55new spirit will I put in you."
40:58God is not merely interested in
41:00modifying our behavior.
41:02God wants to transform
41:05our hearts.
41:08He remove our hearts of stone
41:12and gives us hearts of flesh.
41:16A heart that loves.
41:18A heart that forgives. One of the
41:20hardest thing for people to do.
41:25But God wants a heart that is willing to
41:28be transformed.
41:30That no matter how we have been
41:31offended,
41:33we can sincerely, from the depths of our
41:36hearts, say, "I forgive you."
41:42A heart that shows mercy.
41:47And you would think for Christians that
41:49that's something that should be easy for
41:51us to do.
41:53And it's not that I'm talking about
41:55Pentecost, it's just Christians as a
41:57whole.
41:59But being merciful is one of the
42:01hardest thing for some of us to do.
42:06But we desire the mercies of God.
42:10Have mercy, Jesus.
42:13Have mercy.
42:16A heart that reflects Christ.
42:19And when God gives you that kind of
42:21heart, compassion becomes more something
42:24you feel.
42:27And it becomes the way we live.
42:34And as God shapes our heart through
42:36compassion
42:37and transformation,
42:39something else begins to happen.
42:42God's bring beginnings to prepare us for
42:45purpose.
42:47And this brings me to my third point.
42:49I'm almost closing. Musicians, if you
42:51want to come.
42:54Spiritual maturity and divine
42:56appointment.
42:59The Bible tells us in 2 Samuel
43:025:4,
43:05that David
43:07was 30 years of age
43:10when he began began to reign.
43:16And this is important.
43:31David
43:32was 30 years of age
43:36when he became king.
43:42For years before that moment, David had
43:44been in preparation.
43:47David understood that God was preparing
43:50for something greater.
43:54So, his experience
43:56developed a mature heart, a heart for
44:00purpose. [clears throat]
44:0230 in the Bible
44:05represents some significant things.
44:10The Bible tells us that
44:12the Levite's priests would start their
44:14preparation at age 25.
44:18But at age 30,
44:21they would enter into the tabernacle.
44:27And the high PRIESTS WERE THE ONE that
44:29had access to THE HOLIES OF HOLIES
44:33WITHIN THE TABERNACLE.
44:36THE HIGH PRIESTS WOULD MAKE PETITION on
44:38behalf OF PEOPLE.
44:42A MATURE HEART.
44:45AT 30, JOSEPH WENT BEFORE PHARAOH.
44:54If you know the story of Joseph,
44:57Joseph was being prepared
45:00for where he was. He went through hell,
45:02so to speak.
45:04Pentecostal Tabernacle, it seems since
45:07of recently, before we reach 30, we have
45:10been going through some hell.
45:12BUT GOD WAS JUST SIMPLY PREPARING US.
45:18HELPING OUR HEARTS TO BE MATURED SO THAT
45:20WE could reach those who he wanted us to
45:23reach.
45:27Joseph was in prison
45:29at age 30
45:31in the dungeon when the Pharaoh had a
45:33dream.
45:35And the Pharaoh needed this dream to be
45:37interpreted.
45:38SO, THE PHARAOH ASKED FOR ALL HIS WISE
45:40MEN TO INTERPRET THE DREAM.
45:42BUT NONE OF THEM HAD PURPOSE BECAUSE
45:44NONE OF THEM HAD A HEART THAT ALIGNED
45:46WITH GOD.
45:48BUT IN THE DUNGEON, SOMEONE REMEMBERED
45:50THAT THEY HAD A DREAM AND THERE WAS A
45:53YOUNG MAN THAT WHO COULD INTERPRET THE
45:54DREAM. And at 30 YEARS OF AGE, JOSEPH
45:58WENT BEFORE PHARAOH. AND AT 30 AGE OF
46:00YEARS, HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE SECOND
46:03POSITION IN ALL OF EGYPT. THAT'S
46:05PURPOSE. MATURITY FOR PURPOSE.
46:11But if you're still not convinced,
46:15in the Gospel of St. Luke,
46:18the Bible tells us after Jesus was
46:20baptized by John,
46:23that he was sent into the wilderness to
46:25be tempted by the devil.
46:29And could you just guess and tell me
46:31what age Jesus was?
46:35Pentecostal Tabernacle,
46:37you have a divine assign-
46:41The Bible tells us in Luke
46:44that Jesus,
46:46being filled with the spirit AFTER BEING
46:48TEMPTED BY THE DEVIL, went into THE
46:50SYNAGOGUE AND HE'S GOT THE SCROLL AND HE
46:53ASKED FOR THE BOOK OF ISAIAH AND HE
46:55BEGAN reading and he read, "The spirit
46:59of the Lord is up-
47:06You're not getting it.
47:08When David was anointed,
47:12WHEN DAVID WAS ANOINTED, IT SAYS THAT
47:14THE spirit of the Lord was upon him.
47:23NOW, AT 30, JESUS IS SAYING,
47:27"NOW, THE spirit
47:29of THE LORD
47:30IS UPON ME
47:32BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED ME, HALLELUJAH,
47:35TO PREACH THE GOSPEL to the poor.
47:39HE HAD SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKEN
47:41HEARTED.
47:43AH [screaming]
47:44TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVE. TO
47:47RECOVER THE SIGHT OF THE BLIND, TO SET
47:49THE LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED.
47:52PENTECOSTAL TABERNACLE, YOUR AUTHORITY.
47:55JESUS IS SAYING TO EVERY ONE OF US THAT
47:58NOW IS THE TIME FOR US TO GO. YOU'RE
48:01MATURE FOR PURPOSE.
48:03This is when you ARE GOING TO GO OUT AND
48:05REACH THOSE WHO ARE LOST.
48:07THIS IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO TOUCH THE
48:09SICK AND BELIEVE IN FAITH THAT THEY WILL
48:12BE HEALED BECAUSE WE'RE AT A STAGE OF
48:15MATURITY, BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED US,
48:18BECAUSE
48:20THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON US. SO,
48:23WE ARE GOING TO WALK VICTORIOUS WITH THE
48:26SPIRIT AND THE ANOINTING OF THE LORD. WE
48:29HAVE BEEN CHOSEN IN MIAMI GARDENS FOR A
48:32REASON, FOR A PURPOSE, AND WE WILL
48:35PERFORM THE WILL OF GOD WITH A
48:37TRANSFORMED HEART. [screaming]
48:41>> [cheering]
48:56>> WE HAVE BEEN anointed for purpose.
49:08If you're in the house
49:10and if you're between the age
49:12>> [clears throat]
49:13>> of 10
49:14and 15,
49:16I'm inviting you to come to the altar.
49:20If you're between the age
49:22of 10
49:23to 15,
49:25scholars believe that
49:27David
49:28was between the age of 10 to 15
49:31when he was anointed.
49:34Pentecostal Tabernacle
49:36I don't know if we realize what is
49:38happening in the spiritual realm for our
49:40young people,
49:42but there's a strong burden
49:44for young people.
49:47If you are in the house, I'm saying it
49:48again. If you're a parent or a guardian,
49:51and you have a child or children that is
49:53between the age of 10 and 15, I'm
49:56inviting you to come to the altar.
49:58And after they come, I'm going to ask
50:01our pastors and elders to stand behind
50:02them.
50:03And then I'm going to invite the entire
50:05congregation, if you are here and you
50:08have not received the gift of the Holy
50:11Ghost,
50:12I'm also inviting you to the altar.
50:15If you have not been baptized in the
50:17name of Jesus Christ,
50:20these are the condition under which
50:24God changes and transform your heart.
50:27I'm inviting you to come to the altar.
50:31We have been empowered, saints of God,
50:35for a purpose.
50:39We have not been given
50:41the kingdom for us to celebrate being
50:45kings,
50:47but God has given us all His anointing
50:50to reach the lost.
50:54If we have the oil,
50:57could you just
50:59give me the oil?
51:06The Bible said that the man of God
51:08anointed him.
51:11And when he was anointed, the spirit of
51:13the Lord was upon him for all the days
51:16of his life.
51:21So, I'm going to
51:22anoint your head with oil
51:26that the spirit of the Lord will be upon
51:28you.
51:30I am anointing every single one of you
51:33to say that you are the generation that
51:35will be the remnant for Jesus Christ.
51:39I am anointing each one of you to tell
51:42you that the gates of hell will not
51:45prevail against you.
51:47I am anointing your head to TELL YOU
51:50GREATER IS HE THAT is in you than he
51:52that is in the world.
51:54I am ANOINTING YOUR HEAD TO TELL YOU
51:56THAT YOU HAVE PURPOSE.
51:58THAT YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED for a reason.
52:00THAT GOD HAS A PLAN FOR YOU. THAT IN
52:03SPITE OF what people see, God sees you
52:05differently.
52:07GOD SEES THE HEART AND HE WANTS TO REACH
52:10THE HEART.
52:11God see what he can do with you. God see
52:14a king in you. Do you see the king in
52:17yourself?
52:18God is saying you are a king.
52:21I HAVE ANOINTED YOU TO BE A KING OVER MY
52:23PEOPLE.
52:25I have anointed you for you to be an
52:26example. I have anointed you for you to
52:29lead. For you to be the remnant in this
52:32season.
52:39We will not give this generation over to
52:40the devil.
52:44You will be the third generation that
52:46bears the name of Jesus.
52:49And in spite [music] of how people may
52:50see you,
52:52God sees you in a special way.
52:55God sees you for who you are.
52:58He only asks that you will just open up
53:00your heart to him.
53:02Just allow him to transform
53:04your heart.
53:07He's saying that you shall do great
53:08exploits only if you avail yourself.
53:12You shall do great exploits.
53:18If you
53:20are in house.
53:24And you know of
53:27a family member you have within the age
53:29group as well, I'm inviting you.
53:31As a matter of fact, I'm inviting the
53:32entire church
53:34to come to the altar
53:36because it's going to take a
53:37[music and singing] collective move from
53:38us.
53:40Pentecostal Tabernacle, it's going to
53:41take a collective move from us.
53:45If ever we need to be united,
53:46Pentecostal, it's now.
53:49If ever we NEED TO BE UNITED,
53:51PENTECOSTAL TABERNACLE, it's now.
53:56It is now.

64:02in going on to the promised land
