Summary
This multi-speaker presentation explores how believers build a lasting spiritual legacy through personal experience, endurance in trials, and intentional investment in others. Using metaphors like Lego bricks and the staff of Moses, the speakers challenge the church to build their lives on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and to pass the fire of the Holy Ghost to the next generation.
Key points
- •Legacy is built brick by brick through daily obedience, small kindnesses, and faithfulness in the 'little things.'
- •Whether you have a multi-generational spiritual heritage or are a first-generation believer, everyone is responsible for seeking their own personal experience with God.
- •Our battles and seasons of struggle are not wasted; like Hannah's prayer, they refine our character and shape the testimony we leave for others.
- •True legacy requires moving from self-focus (worrying about what happens TO us) to kingdom-focus (caring about what happens THROUGH us).
- •We have a responsibility to hold one another up, just as Aaron and Hur supported Moses' arms, ensuring the legacy of the Lord continues to the next generation.

Life application
This week, look at your daily interactions - a wave to a neighbor, a prayer for a coworker, or a moment of patience - as 'Lego bricks' of your spiritual legacy. Intentionally plant one 'seed of legacy' by sharing a personal testimony or offering a Bible study to someone who is spiritually hungry.
Reflection questions
- What foundation are you currently building your life on: talent, trends, or the Truth of God's Word?
- Are there 'planks' of brokenness or sin in your own life that you need to resolve so you don't pass them down to the next generation?
- Who are the 'Aaron and Hur' figures in your life who have held up your arms, and who is God calling you to support right now?
- If your life is an assembly of 'little pieces,' how does that change the way you view your mundane daily tasks?

0:00of Jesus Christ, we [music] pray.
0:00Hallelujah. Let's give Sister Heather
0:00Moore a great hand of welcome as she
0:02comes to bring the word.
0:09>> All right. Praise the Lord, church.
0:12>> I am frozen. Okay.
0:16Um, but as pastor mentioned, tonight
0:18we're going to be speaking on the topic
0:19of legacy, but I want to touch on a
0:22specific topic, the seeds of legacy.
0:26So when I was asked to do this, I
0:28thought, "Wow, the word legacy." I
0:31thought of something along the lines of
0:33a long lasting tale. Something that's
0:35been refined, lived, and polished for
0:38the next person to carry on. It can be
0:41financial, materialistic, or even a
0:43legend or testimony of those before us.
0:47We know that legacies are passed down
0:49from two generations. But what does it
0:51mean to carry the legacy of the Lord?
0:55Some may have experienced this legacy in
0:58the lives of their parents and their
1:00parents' parents. Teaching of the word
1:02and testimonies of miracle, signs and
1:04wonders lived throughout time.
1:07>> To be a second, third, fourth, or fifth
1:09generation apostolic Pentecostal is a
1:11beautiful blessing and it does prove the
1:14goodness and mercy of God that follows
1:16all of our days. It signifies the power
1:19of Acts 2:39 that says, "For the promise
1:21is unto you and to your children and to
1:24all that are a far off, even as many as
1:27the Lord our God shall call."
1:29>> On the other hand, though,
1:31>> there are some of us, me included, that
1:34have not had this legacy passed down to
1:36us. Sometimes it's something we discover
1:39with the Lord's guidance. That's right.
1:41>> But whether you have this legacy passed
1:43down, whether we have it passed down to
1:45us or not, it requires each and every
1:47one of us to seek an experience.
1:50>> Because when we experience it, we
1:52capture it. We can contribute to it and
1:54pass it down.
1:56>> We must dig up this legacy, let it
1:59transform us, and walk empowered so we
2:01can share it with others.
2:04>> It's more than just a fable, and
2:06therefore, it cannot be treated in such
2:08a way.
2:09>> Amen. This is the legacy that reveals to
2:12us that Jesus is the I am that I am.
2:16>> It reveals to us the power of the living
2:19and the living word.
2:21>> And it reveals to us the power of the
2:23Holy Ghost.
2:25>> But most urgently,
2:27>> it reveals to us a call to action
2:30>> for each and every one of us.
2:33>> This is an experience that no one can
2:35tell you it did not happen. They cannot
2:37convince you it did not happen. And
2:40that's why it's crucial that we
2:42experience it.
2:44>> Having it passed down from parents or
2:46even hearing about it does not give the
2:48same power as us taking it and letting
2:51it transform our hearts, our minds, and
2:53our life.
2:56>> But there is a great responsibility that
2:58comes with holding this legacy
3:01>> because it's not meant for us to keep to
3:03ourselves.
3:04Once we experience it, there comes a
3:06great responsibility. And Mark chapter
3:09Mark chapter 16 verse1 15 says, "And he
3:12said unto them, and this is Jesus
3:14speaking,
3:15>> go ye into all the world and preach the
3:18gospel to every creature."
3:20>> We all have a calling on our life
3:23>> and it's to preach the gospel.
3:25>> It's the only legacy that matters
3:27eternally.
3:29>> It's not about what I, Heather, passed
3:31down to my children. This legacy is
3:34about allowing God to be seen through
3:35the way I speak,
3:37>> the way I pray, and the way I teach to
3:39the whole world.
3:41>> It's the way I have patience, compassion
3:44in everything I do, Lord. Let me be used
3:48by you to build the legacy.
3:49>> That's right.
3:51>> Oh, yes.
3:52>> But how how do we pass this legacy on?
3:55This is the million-dollar question.
3:57>> We know it's important to pass it down,
3:59but how
4:00>> do I have to be a preacher?
4:03Do I need to know the entire Bible and
4:05live a perfect life?
4:07>> No.
4:08>> The legacy gives us the power, the
4:10wisdom, and the knowledge if we let it.
4:13>> You have to let it.
4:16>> I want to give one of my favorite
4:17testimonies. Okay? It is such a favorite
4:20that I look forward to people asking me
4:22this question.
4:24>> Because if you didn't know, I wasn't
4:26raised in this. So, I love when people
4:27ask me, "How did you get into church?"
4:31So, I need a little bit help, Lauren.
4:33[clears throat]
4:33>> Ask me how I got into church.
4:35>> Heather, how did you get into church?
4:37>> Yes. All right. I'm so glad you asked.
4:40So, my parents moved our whole family,
4:42I'm the oldest of five, if you don't
4:44know, down to South Florida when my mom
4:46and dad fell in love. But the blend of
4:49two families comes with its difficulties
4:52and it became way too much to handle on
4:54our own. So, my parents knew the only
4:56way that we could get through all these
4:59troubled times was to seek the Lord and
5:01get into church, but they didn't know
5:04what church to go to.
5:06So, my parents talked and I'm going to
5:08paraphrase. This is my favorite part,
5:10but my dad says something along the
5:12lines of this. I live next door to these
5:14people and I could clearly tell that
5:17they were different. They dressed
5:18differently and they went to church. But
5:21if they're still in church, then I know
5:22it's the real deal because this had been
5:2515 years later just about.
5:28>> Somehow, thankfully, thanks or thanks to
5:31social media,
5:32>> he got connected with his neighbors and
5:34sure enough, the Garfinkles were still
5:36serving the Lord and faithful to their
5:38church. Praise God.
5:42[applause]
5:43>> But here's why I had to share this. They
5:46gave our entire family Bible studies for
5:48years.
5:50Okay, they probably answered hundreds of
5:52questions that were just simple and some
5:55probably so silly.
5:57>> They loved us. They spoke life to us.
6:00They were faithful to Bible studies. And
6:02they answered nearly every question,
6:05never judge us. But most importantly,
6:07they prayed.
6:09>> You know what they were doing? They were
6:11discipling us.
6:13>> They were allowing the legacy to speak
6:15to us.
6:16>> They were passing it down to a hungry
6:18and lost family.
6:20And it was a legacy that contained
6:22promises hope life everlasting joy
6:26strength, and truth. [applause]
6:29>> What I'll always remember
6:32about the Garfinkles is that I would not
6:34be here physically or spiritually with
6:37an amazing husband and three beautiful
6:40children if someone had not poured into
6:42us
6:43>> or passed on this legacy. I'll remember
6:46the way they blessed us when I'm
6:47teaching my own children,
6:49>> when I'm teaching my sixth grade Bible
6:51class,
6:52>> right?
6:52>> Or loving on others,
6:54>> right?
6:55>> And I actually want to take this moment
6:56to say that I honor you guys. I honor
6:59your family and I love you. [applause]
7:01You guys are a part of my family's
7:03legacy.
7:08But because I've seen this passed down,
7:10I can't help but have this visual in my
7:12head that when we are loving people,
7:15when we're praying with people, we're
7:16just giving these seeds of legacy
7:18everywhere we go. And all we have to do
7:21is give it, we pray, and the Lord's
7:23going to water it. [applause]
7:26>> Hallelujah.
7:28But it all began with someone passing it
7:30down to us.
7:33>> So what now? The decision we make
7:36tonight in this very moment can shape
7:38the way this legacy is passed down.
7:41>> We will be refined. We're gonna be
7:43corrected. We're going to go through
7:45trials and tribulations. I know it. It's
7:48not a perfect walk. But we will also be
7:51blessed. We're going to be taken care
7:53of. We're going to live in abundance.
7:55And we're going to have unspeakable joy.
7:58But all of it, the good, the bad, the
8:01middle, it all comes together to build
8:04this testimony and build the legacy
8:06that's going to be passed down to
8:07generations.
8:10>> It's meant so much more than to just
8:12keep to ourselves,
8:13>> right?
8:14>> So, we're met where this moment in this
8:16moment where we have the truth and we
8:18must decide what we're going to do with
8:20it. Do we hold it for ourselves
8:23>> or do we take it to our city, to our
8:25family, to our co-workers, to every
8:27creature as Jesus said?
8:30>> What do we want to be remembered for
8:32tonight?
8:34[applause]
8:39[applause]
8:41>> Praise the Lord. Amen.
8:47>> Thank you, Jesus. What a powerful word.
8:52Um, when I was younger, another family
8:54story [laughter]
8:56um, I loved Pop-Tarts. This may seem
8:59random, but I promise there's a reason
9:01behind this.
9:03Um, there, unfortunately, we didn't have
9:05Pop-Tarts very often inside our house.
9:07So, when I was going down the line in
9:09lunch school or getting my lunch at
9:11school, I would see these Pop-Tarts. And
9:14so as I was punching in my lunch pen, I
9:16close my eyes and say, "Lord, please let
9:18there be two extra dollars on my account
9:20so I can get these Pop-Tarts,
9:23unfortunately, the $2 didn't show up
9:25magically." And so I wasn't able to get
9:28Pop-Tarts. So naturally, I would go home
9:31and travail in prayer for these
9:33Pop-Tarts. [laughter]
9:37And somehow my mom and my dad caught
9:39wind of this and they were like, "We
9:41need to get these this girl some
9:42Pop-Tarts.
9:45And they did. They brought home several
9:47boxes of Pop-Tarts. And I was very
9:48happy. And
9:50>> Yes. And to this day, we talk about how
9:53the Lord answered my prayer of
9:55Pop-Tarts.
9:59Yes. He's faithful.
10:03But unfortunately, as I've gotten older,
10:05um, I've experienced problems that get
10:07more serious. Although, I feel Pop-Tarts
10:09are very serious.
10:12We've all had things that our hearts
10:15desired so much that it took faith to
10:17believe it was going to happen.
10:20>> There's a woman in scripture with the
10:22name Hannah. And some of you may be
10:24familiar with her already, but she's
10:25known for her deep faith and her
10:27powerful prayer. She desired to have a
10:30child, but unfortunately she couldn't.
10:32And it led her to prayer. She asked God
10:35for a child, and if he granted her
10:37petition, she would give her baby back
10:39to the Lord. Well, he heard her prayer
10:41and he answered it and she had a baby
10:43boy named Samuel.
10:45Samuel would later become a influential
10:49leader in Israel. He would transition
10:51the nation from judges to a monarchy and
10:54he would be the king. He would be the
10:56one to anoint the first two kings of
10:57Israel.
10:59Hannah could not have known that her
11:00prayer and agony would and her act of
11:03surrender would shape the spiritual
11:05direction of a nation.
11:08She didn't know her faith would be
11:09remembered in scripture for generations.
11:12>> Yet, her obedience created a lasting
11:14legacy.
11:16>> Hannah's testimony teaches us what it
11:19looks like to remain faithful when it's
11:20hard, when it hurts, when a situation
11:23feels unfair.
11:25>> It shows us what to do in our seasons of
11:27struggle that shape the legacy we leave
11:29behind.
11:31>> Our battles have a purpose.
11:33>> Do you know that? Your battle has a
11:35purpose. The battle it took for you to
11:38get here tonight has a purpose.
11:41>> They shape who we are, who we'll become.
11:44They refine us. They strengthen us and
11:47prepare us for what's ahead.
11:49>> The faith that you built in this fight
11:51will outlive you.
11:53>> No one else may understand the cost of
11:55our faithfulness, but God sees every
11:58moment.
11:59>> That's right.
12:00>> And your decisions in the kingdom are
12:02not momentary.
12:04Your decision. Our decisions are not a
12:06one-time thing that leads to nothing.
12:08Every act of obedience, every decision
12:11to remain faithful is building something
12:13that will outlast us.
12:17[applause]
12:18>> The Bible says that we overcome by the
12:20blood of the lamb in the word of our
12:22testimony.
12:24>> The decision to remain faithful in
12:25battle or in a season of struggle or
12:27where there seems to be no hope will
12:30become our testimony. And every one of
12:32our testimonies carries weight.
12:35>> It's not just a story. It's evidence.
12:38>> It's proof that God still answers
12:40prayers, that he still heals, and that
12:42he still restores.
12:44>> Praise God. Thank you, [applause] Jesus.
12:50>> The testimonies we have are not just for
12:52our own good, but for the person who
12:54needs to know that God, if God did it
12:56for us, then he can do it for them, too.
13:00Just as Hannah could not see the future
13:01of her son, we may not always see what
13:04God is doing. But our decisions leave a
13:07lasting legacy if we remain faithful.
13:11>> So make the decision. Make it when
13:13everything's going right and when
13:15everything seems to be going wrong.
13:19>> When God called our family back to South
13:21Florida, it took faith to believe it was
13:24going to happen.
13:25>> There were moments where it felt so
13:27impossible.
13:28But we kept our eyes on Jesus.
13:32>> I can't imagine where we would be if we
13:34didn't make that decision to remain
13:35faithful to the calling of God.
13:38>> But we did and we we trusted what God
13:41was doing. Yes.
13:43>> Hebrews 12 1-2 says, "Therefore, we
13:47also, since we are surrounded by so
13:49great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay
13:51aside every weight and the sin which so
13:53easily ens snares us, let us run with
13:56endurance the race that is set before
13:58us, looking unto Jesus, the author and
14:01finisher of our faith, who for the joy
14:03that was set before him, endured the
14:05cross, despising the shame, and sat down
14:08at the right hand of the throne of God.
14:11Our
14:12actions right now, what we do right now
14:15is shaping our legacy.
14:17>> Just like Hannah's faith built a legacy
14:20that outlived hers, ours will too.
14:23>> So stay faithful, keep praying, and
14:25trust what God is doing through
14:26obedience that will last for generations
14:29to come. Our faith will build a legacy.
14:32[applause]
14:39>> [applause]
14:40>> Praise the Lord, church.
14:42>> Praise the Lord.
14:43>> Well, pastor, I can confirm it is 59
14:46degrees right now. I checked before I
14:48came up. You can look on your apps right
14:50now if it's 59.
14:54>> Um, so every one of us is building
14:56something.
14:57>> That's right.
14:58>> Uh, day by day, word by word, choice by
15:00choice, we're laying bricks,
15:02constructing the framework of our lives.
15:05Right.
15:06>> Right.
15:06>> Some are building careers. Some are
15:08building families. Some are building
15:10their dreams.
15:10>> Yes.
15:12>> But whether you realize it or not,
15:14you're building a legacy.
15:16>> The question isn't am I building?
15:19>> The question is what am I building on?
15:22>> Because every choice is a brick.
15:26>> Every prayer, every word, every act of
15:29obedience,
15:30>> another piece in the structure of our
15:33story.
15:34The word legacy comes from the Latin
15:36root leg meaning to send as an
15:40ambassador
15:41>> to a point.
15:43>> So at its root, legacy is about passing
15:46something on
15:47>> a mission or uh a message.
15:50>> Yes.
15:51>> And every word of of what we're what
15:54we're saying and what we're doing is
15:55sending something forward.
15:57>> Yes, sir.
15:58>> Every action is appointing somebody who
16:01is following after us.
16:03>> All right. So, we all know the toy
16:05company Lego. I have a a box here
16:08>> gifted by one of our brethren in the
16:10church. I'll let you guess who it was.
16:12It was Andrew. Um,
16:15and it comes from the Danish word
16:19legot.
16:21Sister Heidi can help me on that. But
16:23which which means play well. But later I
16:26looked up the word in Latin and it
16:28interestingly enough means I assemble or
16:32I put together.
16:34>> And whether you realize it or not, Lego
16:37has become a perfect picture of legacy
16:41because with simple ordinary pieces, you
16:44can build something extraordinary.
16:47>> Now legacy and Lego come from two
16:50different root words. Um but they share
16:53the similar spiritual truth. Um when we
16:56look at legacy we see passing something
16:58value valuable to the next generation
17:01while also leaving something that
17:03endures. And then we look at Lego and we
17:05can see building something piece by
17:07piece and constructing something that
17:09lasts uh from small little parts.
17:12>> Yes.
17:12>> So metaphorically speaking Lego is
17:15legacy.
17:16>> Yes. To build, you create, you connect,
17:19and you build something that outlasts
17:21you.
17:22>> God is calling us to be spiritual
17:25builders,
17:26>> to be people who don't just live well,
17:29>> but people who build well.
17:31>> In Matthew 7:24,
17:34and 25, it says, "Therefore, whosoever
17:37heareth these sayings of mine and doeth
17:39them will liken them unto a wise man who
17:42built his house upon a rock. The rain
17:45descended, the flood came, the winds
17:47blew, and the house stood firm.
17:50>> Not because the builder's skill,
17:53>> but because the builder's foundation.
17:57>> Paul said in 1 Corinthians
17:593 and 11.
18:02For other foundation came no man lay
18:05than that is laid, which is Jesus
18:07Christ. Amen.
18:08>> There's only one foundation that we will
18:11stand and that is the foundation of the
18:14name of Jesus. [applause]
18:16>> Psalms 119 105, thy word is a lamp unto
18:19my feet and a light unto my path.
18:22>> If you want to build a legacy that
18:24lasts, build it on his word,
18:27>> not on trends, not on times, not on the
18:30t uh titles, not on talent,
18:32>> but on the truth of God. Because when
18:35you're building with God, you're not
18:36just building a life.
18:38>> You're building something that's
18:39eternal.
18:41>> Yes, sir.
18:43>> So whether you're a first generation
18:44like Heather was talking about or you're
18:46a fifth generation like my wife is,
18:49>> and our kids will be sixth. We're not
18:51pregnant, but I'm just saying
18:54everyone is building. Everyone has to
18:56build their own legacy.
18:58>> You can't live off of the legacy of
18:59somebody else. You have to abide and
19:02construct your own legacy. Yes,
19:07>> you can't build and and like building I
19:09mean this is a pretty simple set 99
19:11pieces. I don't know how long it would
19:13take you but you can't build a legacy
19:16overnight.
19:17>> Uh the Bible says that we continue
19:19through patient continuence.
19:22>> So just like these little bricks inside
19:26of this box,
19:29>> you have to build them brick by brick.
19:31Uh-huh.
19:32>> You have to work day by day
19:35>> and you have to go faith by faith.
19:39>> You got to see your legacy like a Lego
19:42set.
19:43>> It doesn't come together in one moment.
19:45>> It takes time. It takes patience. It
19:48takes persistence. But if you keep
19:50building, before you know it, you'll
19:52back you'll look back and say, "Look
19:54what the Lord has done. Look what the
19:57Lord has done in my life." If you keep
19:59building when it feels slow. If you keep
20:02believing when you can't see it. If you
20:04keep trusting when all you see is
20:06scattered pieces.
20:08The Lord honors a faithful builder. He
20:12blesses those who don't quit. He rewards
20:15those who don't who keep uh building
20:18when the pieces feel like they're
20:19scattered. So don't stop because your
20:22legacy is being built one piece of
20:24obedience at a time.
20:27Oh yes. [applause]
20:29>> The Bible says the name of the Lord is a
20:31strong tower and the righteous run into
20:33it and are safe.
20:36>> If your foundation is in Jesus, you
20:39stand through any storm.
20:42>> So I ask you tonight, what are you
20:44building on?
20:47>> Is your foundation firm or is it
20:49fragile? Are you building something that
20:52will fade or something that will forever
20:55remain?
20:57Because when you build on Christ,
21:01>> you're not just building for a moment.
21:03You're building a moment.
21:07>> You're not just building a name. You're
21:10building a legacy.
21:11>> And when the rain comes
21:13>> and the wind blows
21:15>> and the floods rise,
21:17>> your house will stand.
21:20Not because of who you are,
21:23>> but because of who your foundation is.
21:26>> Because when you build with God,
21:29>> you're not just building a life. You're
21:31building a legacy. [applause]
21:37>> Amen. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you,
21:39Jesus. Thank you, Lord. Thank you,
21:42Jesus.
21:45>> What a powerful word. What a powerful
21:46words we've heard.
21:48>> Amen. Right.
21:50>> I'm going to transition a little bit.
21:52Um, and I want to hear a hurrah. If
21:57you're a hockey fan,
22:01>> so in in the hockey world,
22:06>> there's something called the Stanley
22:07Cup.
22:09>> Now, this thing has been in place since
22:121893. So, 133 years. There's been 34
22:16thou 3,400 names that have been etched
22:18over 27 teams
22:21and
22:24and they've all it's all the champions
22:26that have won all all these
22:27championships for the National Hockey
22:30League. But this cup that is edged into
22:34is
22:36so important that in 1988, Phil
22:40Pritchard became known as the keeper of
22:42the cup.
22:45He was the ma. He's the man and he still
22:47does it. Who who looks after this cup.
22:51He travels with it. He makes sure that
22:52nobody takes it because of the
22:55importance and the legacy that this cup
22:57holds.
22:59It's a legacy that did not belong to
23:01those who lost, did not belong to those
23:03who did not put in the time, but it's to
23:05those who kept pressing forward and who
23:07overcame and who won their battle.
23:12Much like the cup, I want to liken it to
23:15a story in Exodus chapter 17 of Moses.
23:20Now, although it's not a cup, Moses had
23:23this very important thing called a
23:26staff.
23:28Now this staff it according to the
23:32Mishna which is the oral law and the
23:34midrash which is the teaching of the law
23:36by the um by the Jewish synagogue. The
23:42staff is is said to be passed down from
23:45Adam to generation to generation to
23:48Moses
23:49and it represents the generations of
23:51leaders that came before him
23:55that God had put for the people of
23:57Israel.
23:59Now, the importance of the staff in in
24:01Exodus 17:12,
24:03um, this this story of the battle of the
24:07Amalachites,
24:10Moses, he's he's old and he's he's weak
24:14and and in this battle, he's raised
24:17every time he would raise his arms
24:18there, the Israelites would win against
24:21the Amalachites. And every time his arms
24:23would be lowered, the Amalachites would
24:25start gaining on the Israelites.
24:28So in Moses's weakness,
24:32his staff held him up. But not only his
24:35staff was holding his arms,
24:37but Aaron and her, two important people,
24:40two pivotal people that he had taught
24:43and had poured into.
24:45The legacy that Moses had built for
24:48those people is what held him up in time
24:51of battle. Yes.
24:53>> It was the story of Moses and and it was
24:56the teachings that he had given to Aaron
24:58and her. It was the generations after
25:01him that gave him the strength when he
25:04was weak.
25:06>> When his strength was failing,
25:09the people that he taught provided him
25:12strength.
25:15While I was at Wentz conference, um I
25:19was
25:21in in the midst of prayer. It's a very
25:23big thing for our church. Um it was in
25:27October, so it was last month, the end
25:28of last month, and we had a wonderful
25:33time in the presence of the Lord. And
25:35and in the midst of that, in the midst
25:37of a time of prayer, um I had this image
25:41come into my mind of you guys can put
25:44the image up of my poppy holding up my
25:47left arm and my mama holding up my right
25:50arm, much like Aaron and her were
25:52holding up Moses's arms. And it was in
25:55that moment as if I wasn't holding my
25:58own arms up.
26:00>> But it was the legacy that was built for
26:03me
26:04>> that held me up in that time of pain, in
26:07that time of struggle. It's the people
26:09that have taught you. Maybe they not
26:11they might not be family. They might
26:13just be people that have poured into
26:15you. [applause]
26:18It's their wisdom. It's their knowledge.
26:23It's it's the things that they've taught
26:24us that help us to fight our battles.
26:28>> And then I looked around me and I could
26:32feel the hands on my back of the people
26:35that were praying with me that serve
26:37with me.
26:40>> And in that moment, I was reminded of
26:43Galatians 6:2 that says that we bear
26:46each other's burdens in our ministry,
26:49>> in our struggles, in our pain. Even now,
26:53it's in those moments
26:56that we are now building a legacy that
26:58is going to go forward.
27:01>> And this burden of legacy, it's not just
27:04the responsibility of the past of the
27:07elders. Yes, it is still important to
27:09them, but it is also important to us.
27:12It's on our shoulders now to carry to
27:14the next generation, to continue to
27:17carry to this generation.
27:19So I urge you to hold up the elders, to
27:22hold one another up in prayer, in
27:25fasting, to hold each other up,
27:28>> to strive towards what the Lord has
27:31called us.
27:32>> It is on our shoulders so that we can
27:35spread the good news through Bible
27:37studies to those who may have not heard
27:39it yet. to build up physically by
27:41maintaining the church by expanding the
27:43church and spiritually by serving in
27:46ministries in our church by reaching out
27:49to the community around us, to our
27:51workplace,
27:54>> and by being like Isaiah when he says in
27:56Isaiah 68, "Here I am, Lord, send me."
28:02>> Hallelujah. [applause]
28:08>> Praise the Lord, church. It's so so
28:10great to be here this evening. It's just
28:12so beautiful here to hear his word
28:15>> and to just, you know, just learn a
28:17little something new about him because
28:18we always learn something new about him
28:20every day.
28:21>> He's just so so big. We can never know
28:23enough about him.
28:25>> Now, legacy, guess what? Takes action.
28:28You can't just sit around and expect it
28:30to just land out of nowhere. Uh so back
28:34in the mid1 1900s there was this tractor
28:38manufacturer. He got so wealthy guess
28:40what he bought? Ferrari.
28:43So uh this Ferrari wasn't without his
28:46issues. So he took it to the factory and
28:50since he was a a tractor manufacturer,
28:53he was very mechanically inclined. So
28:55guess what he told uh Mr. Enzo Ferrari?
28:58He says, "I can make your car better.
29:01And what was Enzo's response? What do
29:04you know? You're just a tractor
29:06manufacturer. Go away. So, guess what?
29:09He didn't let the the doubters affect
29:12him. He persevered. And everybody here,
29:15I assume, knows what a Lamborghini is,
29:18right?
29:20So, guess what? Lamborghini made his
29:21first car. And depending on who you ask,
29:24you know, they have their preference. I
29:27prefer Lamborghini. But uh
29:30he left a legacy.
29:34He left a lasting impact because you
29:36don't have to know about cars to know
29:37what a Lamborghini is. I mean, it's a
29:39Lamborghini. If you if you win the
29:41lottery, I'm sure you're buying one or
29:43two. [laughter]
29:46So,
29:48sometimes we allow outside factors to
29:50influence our life. I know
29:53>> most about what we most of what we worry
29:55about in life is falls under three
29:57categories. Finances.
29:59>> Yes.
30:00>> Social life.
30:01>> Uhhuh.
30:02>> Health.
30:02>> Yes.
30:03>> And guess what? All that's about this
30:05guy. Me.
30:06>> Yes.
30:08>> What would happen to my money? What
30:11would happen to my social life? What
30:12would happen to my body?
30:15>> But Jesus Jesus challenges us to think
30:17differently. Yes.
30:18>> Matthew 6:25-26
30:21says, "Therefore I say to you, do not
30:23worry about your life, what you will
30:25eat, or what you will drink, nor about
30:27your body, what you will put on. Is Is
30:30not life more than food, and the body
30:33more than clothing?
30:35>> Look at the birds of the air, for they
30:37neither sow nor reap, nor gather into
30:39barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds
30:41them." Are you not more valuable than
30:45they?
30:47That that seems that seems obvious,
30:49right?
30:50>> The bird the bird just pecks the ground
30:52and and I mean I'm more valuable than a
30:54bird, but sometimes we don't act like
30:56it.
30:58>> He's saying stop being consumed with
31:01yourself.
31:04>> I want to stop worrying about me and I
31:06want to start thinking about what
31:07happened through me.
31:10>> That's that's powerful. I mean,
31:12>> you can't think about what happens
31:14through you if you're just thinking
31:15about yourself. That's true.
31:17>> That's true.
31:19>> Now, Matthew, Jesus continues in Matthew
31:227 chap verse three says, "Why do you
31:25look at the speck in your brother's eye
31:27but not consider the plank in your own
31:28eye?"
31:30>> Jesus is teaching us that true legacy
31:32begins with personal correction.
31:34>> Cuz if I don't fix what's in my heart,
31:37>> I'll pass down that same brokenness that
31:38I carry.
31:41Now, I'm going to take a little step
31:43back here and I want to honor my
31:45grandpa. Such a great guy. Sometimes he
31:49gets gets on my nerves sometime. I mean,
31:52but him being such a great guy when I
31:55needed a car for to drive down to FIU,
31:59uh he had this BMW that he brought down
32:01from from Texas. And uh so yeah, there
32:05was one day I was driving home from
32:07school uh on a high. I mean, I was I
32:10just aced an exam. It was it was so
32:12marvelous. Um, but they're going to
32:16throw a picture up.
32:20Um, so yes, being the great grandson
32:23that I am, I took care of it so well and
32:25then I crushed it.
32:28And guess what? Two years later, I
32:31bought another one. And guess where it's
32:33sitting? It's in my driveway because
32:34it's not working.
32:36So, I mean, everybody makes mistakes.
32:39Some bigger than others, some different
32:41types of mistakes.
32:43But again, these mistakes, they won't
32:45affect my children.
32:47>> But guess what will affect my children?
32:50>> The sins that I carry,
32:52>> the actions that I make,
32:55>> the thoughts that I think,
32:57>> the words that I say to other, the way I
32:59treat other people, [applause]
33:01>> what do I want my children to learn from
33:03me? What do you want your children to
33:06learn from you?
33:08How to have a prayer life,
33:10>> how to treat others with decency,
33:12>> how to worship, maybe a little something
33:13like this,
33:15>> something like this.
33:17>> I mean, you want them jumping around,
33:18right? But you want them jumping for the
33:19Lord.
33:21>> You don't want them just to play around.
33:22You want them to praise the Lord.
33:28>> Now, wind's conference was again
33:29mentioned already, but it was so great.
33:31It was my first time. It was such a
33:32glorious experience. And there's just a
33:35little something I remember. It's just
33:36Dylan Morgan just going like this. And
33:38guess what? Let me just let me explain.
33:40Um, so he was talking about the story of
33:43the servant that took the talent that
33:45that his master gave him and put it into
33:46the ground. He he hid it. It's just so
33:49fun to do. I mean, look at this.
33:50[laughter]
33:51Um, so when his master returned, guess
33:54what he called? He called him wicked
33:56because he hid it in the ground. And
33:59what he likened this to was putting
34:01taking all the talent and all the things
34:03that God has given you or your time,
34:05your money,
34:06>> uh your energy and putting it into the
34:10world,
34:11>> not multiplying it.
34:13>> So this servant, I mean, he played it
34:15safe. He was protecting himself because
34:18he was like, "What if the master comes
34:20back and I lose this?" I mean, what is
34:21he going to say? He was protecting
34:23himself. But legacy is not just about
34:25protecting. It's about investing in
34:28eternity.
34:29>> Amen.
34:30>> So today, I want to challenge myself.
34:32Stop worrying about what happened to me.
34:35>> Stop worrying
34:36>> what h I want to start worrying about
34:38what happened because of me.
34:40>> Cuz when you live with eternity in mind,
34:42when you sew into people, when you build
34:45God's kingdom, you create like a legacy
34:48that no economy, no sickness, no
34:50circumstance can erase because you've
34:52built something that will last. You've
34:54built something on a foundation. On the
34:57foundation that is Jesus Christ. Amen.
34:59[cheering and applause]
35:00>> Yes.
35:01>> Jesus, I just want you to help me to
35:04take all the things, all the blessings
35:06you've given me and transfer them down
35:08to other people. Transfer them down to
35:09my children in a way that will exalt
35:11your name in the name of Jesus. Amen.
35:23Why don't we stand together right now?
35:25Every one of us have a word from this
35:28that has been directed to us. And I'm
35:31asking you for the next couple of
35:32moments to just let your heart take the
35:36variables that you've heard tonight.
35:39Which one was specific and [music]
35:41certain for you? And I want you to have
35:43just a a a discussion with the Lord and
35:46let him know, God, I heard that and here
35:49is where I'm adjusting and what I'm
35:51going to do and what I'm going to say
35:54and how I'm going to see that. So, let's
35:57go to him right now and let the word
35:59settle into our spirits. Master, we love
36:03you. We want to have something that's
36:06worth sustaining and keeping and giving.
36:10We want to live in a manner that it
36:13shows forth not only the praises [music]
36:16of the Lord but the light into a dark
36:19world. We want to not just be the
36:22destination for your goodness but we
36:25want to be the vessel for your goodness.
36:28We want it to flow through us not just
36:31to us. We are not just people trying to
36:34receive and receive [music]
36:37and receive, but we are people that want
36:40to give. But what we give, oh Lord, we
36:43want it [music] to be valuable. We want
36:45it to be worth handing [singing]
36:48out. We want it to be worth sharing with
36:51others. We want it to be from generation
36:54to generation, from life to life, from
36:57heart to heart, from man to man and
37:00woman to woman. We want to share with
37:03our kids. We want [music] to share with
37:05our friends. We want to share with our
37:08workmates. We want to share it with our
37:10parents. We want to share it with those
37:12that we're assigned to be near. Oh Lord,
37:17[singing] we don't want it to be words
37:19that we speak alone,
37:21>> but let it be the actions of our day.
37:24[singing] Let it change the way we
37:26approach tomorrow. [music]
37:27Let it adjust [singing] the mindset that
37:30we go with. We worship you, Lord. Thank
37:35you for letting us move, move toward
37:39you, oh Lord. those that have come and
37:41held up our hands. We're here because
37:44somebody prayed for us.
37:47>> We are here because somebody loved us.
37:50>> Somebody encouraged us when we were
37:53down.
37:54>> Oh Lord, [singing]
37:56>> I want to I want to be an encourager.
38:00>> I want to be an encourager. Lord,
38:02>> even when I am fighting discouragement
38:05myself, I want to be the kind of
38:08neighbor, the kind of man, the kind of
38:11friend that stands forward [singing]
38:15and grants glory unto you. We praise
38:19you. We magnify you. We exalt your name.
38:23You're so wonderful. You're so
38:25beautiful. You're so perfect. You're
38:29beautiful [music] for situations. You're
38:31the joy of the whole earth. Thank you,
38:34Lord. I want to
38:39love [singing] till there's just no more
38:45[music] love.
38:46I could never
38:49ever out [singing]
38:53if he's been good to you. Don't you want
38:56to be good to others? I want to live
38:58[music and singing]
39:00the way
39:03he wants me to live. [music] I want to
39:09[singing] give
39:11until there's just no more to give.
39:19I want to love
39:22love till [singing] there's just no more
39:28love. [music]
39:30>> I could never
39:33ever [singing]
39:34love
39:36the Lord. [music]
39:39>> The word always comes with an action
39:42plan. I know it's going to be easy to
39:44love. We're about to eat [music] chili.
39:46It's hard not to love when you're about
39:48to get chilly, okay? But I want you to
39:51intend in your spirit that tomorrow
39:55there will be something that's changed
39:57in your [music] response to somebody.
39:59What you give that's not just a
40:02temporary response [music] to this word
40:04tonight.
40:06Every one of these Alex Lexmer spoke
40:08with such dynamism to my heart to
40:11receive the clarity of testimony and and
40:14I'm telling you hearing other people's
40:17testimony is such a blessing to me
40:20[music] and and listening all the way
40:22from Heather to Gabrielle the amazing
40:25process the pictures that we saw. I
40:28mean, I know some of y'all are gonna be
40:30getting fighting with Zachchariah
40:33because you want to get those Legos, but
40:35I think that the thing that grabs me is
40:38the Latin of Lego.
40:43My Lord is still ringing in me. It's to
40:46assemble
40:48from little pieces.
40:52Now, y'all must y'all may deal with big
40:55things all the time. Maybe You're always
40:58in the big time.
41:01But most of my life
41:03>> Oh yes. Oh yes. [music]
41:04>> If I wasn't careful, I would look at
41:06that day as if not being very much.
41:10This friendship, it's not a very big
41:13one. You know that that relationship,
41:15it's not a very big one. I gave my
41:18neighbor Alena, she's such a sweetheart.
41:20She's been our neighbor since we moved
41:22there in 1997. [music]
41:24and her and uh Carlos have been awesome.
41:27He's the head coach for the Pimrook
41:29Pines Charter School high school
41:31baseball team. They've been awesome
41:34neighbors and and I waved at her and I
41:37smiled and I thought, "Maybe you maybe
41:41you overdid that right there."
41:43>> Now, I know y'all never think those
41:44thoughts, but I literally thought for a
41:47minute, did you overwave just right
41:49then? Well, as I was I was dressed up,
41:53you know, I had to do my duty. In fact,
41:54somebody told me I was on television. I
41:56don't know. They've got to pay me some
41:58money if they put me on. I don't know if
42:00I signed off on the TV rights for them
42:02to use me. They said it was channel 7.
42:04They're wealthy, so at least a ride in
42:06their helicopter. But, uh, you the the
42:10she looked at me. She said, "You're all
42:13dressed up." I said, "It's Veterans
42:14Day." I wanted to look cute for it.
42:18I had on my class A uniform. I was under
42:21the command of Sister Patty or
42:24Lieutenant. Sister's a higher title.
42:26Lieut Patty. I just want to tell you
42:28that. Lieutenant may be big time, but
42:30it's not as big as sister. Sister Patty
42:32Raven. I was under her command and
42:35control and she was the back auditing me
42:38and you know making me all nervous and
42:41but I worried if I overwaved.
42:46But let me tell you something. If you
42:49realize that your life is assembling
42:54the little things,
42:57>> you'll never waste a minute.
43:00>> You'll never waste a minute because
43:02nothing is really little.
43:05>> Nothing. Hallelujah. Oh, let's give the
43:08Lord a praise with our mouth one more
43:10time. Father, we bless you.
43:13We praise your name.
43:15We give you the glory and the honor and
43:17the praise. Hallelujah.
