Summary

Rev. Steve Cannon explores the transition from Jesus' teaching on the mountain to His miraculous ministry in the valley, challenging believers to move from being hearers of the word to active participants in God's power. By focusing on the healing of the leper, the sermon emphasizes that radical worship and a willingness to reach the marginalized are the catalysts for modern-day revival.

Key points
  • The sermon on the mount (Matthew 5-7) taught a higher plane of living, but the 'sermon off the mount' (Matthew 8) is where the miraculous power of God was demonstrated through action.
  • Worship is distinct from praise; while praise thanks God for what He has done, worship honors God for who He is, which arrests His attention even in the midst of crowds.
  • Jesus broke social and legal barriers by touching the leper, demonstrating that the church must be willing to reach the 'untouchable' and those deemed unworthy by society.
  • A 'river model' of church life is one where the Spirit moves you away from where you started, unlike a 'lake model' where you remain stagnant.
  • Every believer, regardless of age or status, is called to be a vessel for revival by simply stepping out in faith to speak a word of hope to others.

This week, shift your perspective from worrying about lost loved ones or personal problems to worshipping God for His sovereignty. Look for one 'off the mount' opportunity to reach out to someone in need or share a word of encouragement, trusting that God can work through you regardless of your title.

Reflection questions
  1. In what areas of your life are you currently settling for a 'lake model' experience rather than letting the river of the Spirit move you?
  2. The leper worshiped Jesus before being healed. How can you cultivate a heart of worship that honors who God is before He answers your specific requests?
  3. Who is the 'leper' in your life or community - someone society avoids - that Jesus might be calling you to touch with His love?
  4. What 'preconceived laws' or social comforts are holding you back from stepping off the mount to minister to others?

0:00>> So, I'm doing both. Just wanted you to
0:00know I'm doing both.
0:01Matthew chapter 8 verse number one
0:03through verse three. When he was come
0:06down from the mountain which Jesus in
0:08Matthew 5 6 and 7 did the great sermon
0:12on the mount. When he was come down from
0:15the mountain great multitudes followed
0:17him. And behold there was a leper and
0:20worshiped him saying Lord if thou wilt
0:24thou canest make me clean.
0:27And Jesus put forth his hand and touched
0:30him, saying, I will be thou clean and
0:34immediately his leprosy was cleansed. I
0:38would like to pause for station
0:40identification.
0:42>> People who had leprosy in the biblical
0:44days, you were not allowed to get close
0:46to them.
0:48>> So Jesus, the originator of the law,
0:53I don't know if you could say he broke
0:54the law or something happened that
0:56caused him to head towards a leper. But
1:00somewhere between the time he recognized
1:02the leper and what he had to say, he was
1:05made whole.
1:07>> And so uh he touched him and said, "I I
1:09I will be thou cleansed." Amen. Matthew
1:13chap chapter 5, six, and s uh 5, six,
1:15and 7 is the sermon on the mound. And I
1:18don't want to get the title of my sermon
1:20mixed up, but my title of my sermon is
1:23the sermon off the mound.
1:27not on the mound five, six, and seven is
1:30that, but when he came off the mound,
1:32great things begin to happen. Pastor M,
1:34would you pray and ask God's blessing?
1:36>> We're thankful for your church
1:40that has ordered our anointing upon our
1:43ears to receive your word today. Bless
1:48us. Speak to us
1:51all through this house. And for this we
1:53give you the praise in Jesus name.
1:57>> Amen. Everybody clap your hands to the
1:59Lord and give God praise this morning.
2:02You may be seated.
2:04That's probably the last time I have to
2:05say morning because we're 3 minutes from
2:0712. Okay, y'all. All good. I hope y'all
2:10had a nice large breakfast, maybe a
2:12little light lunch before you got here.
2:14So, I'm standing up here hungry and I
2:16know that I need to let you out because
2:18I'm hungry.
2:21Matthew 5:6 and 7. If you've ever read
2:23the story of the sermon on the mount,
2:25the biatitudes, it's a great reading.
2:27It's a time that Jesus went up into a
2:29mountain and the multitudes followed
2:31him. And it was probably up part of the
2:33mountain where he was and there was lots
2:35of grass down below of where they were
2:37all had a chance to sit and to enjoy the
2:39great sermon that Jesus taught
2:41>> on the sermon on the mount. And uh it
2:44was there that probably in the backdrop
2:46was the splashing water of the sea of
2:49Galilee. It was probably a beautiful day
2:51and it was a great day for Jesus to
2:53teach to a bunch of multitudes.
2:55>> Right.
2:55>> This is actually the before the day of
2:58uh sound systems and all these kind of
3:00things that we are so spoiled to.
3:03>> Yes.
3:03>> I noticed that the uh Cathedral of
3:06Pentecost actually has something that
3:08Jesus had before you did. And uh believe
3:11it or not, Jesus had earpieces in his
3:14day.
3:16>> Now I know y'all are going on. You got
3:18two mics over here. One's talking to the
3:20singers, other one's singing. And so
3:22what that is, Jesus made sure that
3:24everybody in that audience could hear
3:26everything that he said.
3:29>> Matter of fact, Jesus was so good at it,
3:31his his Wi-Fi went outside of the sermon
3:34on the mount, went off the mount.
3:36>> Yes, sir.
3:38>> Amen. I like this. you know, uh they
3:40could tell each other uh they tell
3:42Christian what what verse to sing, you
3:44know, and all these kind of things or or
3:46when to go up a key. I just wonder how
3:48the drummers understand that we're going
3:49up one key.
3:50>> Yeah.
3:50>> That they can't get a hold of that.
3:52That's that's out of their that's out of
3:54their territory along the way. But it's
3:56amazing that all of this took place.
3:58Some 2,100 plus words that he spoke to
4:01this great great audience that was
4:03there. And he was challenging them to
4:05move up to a higher plane to a upward
4:08style of living. And probably your local
4:10pastor, brother Elves, is certainly in
4:12telling you to dive into the kingdom of
4:15God because it's the higher plane.
4:17>> It's the better plane. It's a better
4:19life to live.
4:20>> It's a great life living for Jesus
4:22Christ.
4:23>> Amen. Amen. And without any question
4:26marks, no uh no special words out of
4:29Jesus's mouth about a dentist or
4:30anything. He just spoke words like,
4:33"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for
4:35theirs is a kingdom of God."
4:38>> So the whole sermon on the mount was
4:40about Jesus's request for everybody to
4:43step up to a higher plane. That holiness
4:46and godliness were not unkind words.
4:49Those were words that make you lift
4:51yourself up to a higher road. And this
4:54sermon was really a tough lesson to
4:56teach because Jesus was opening the door
4:59for people to move up to be more like
5:01him.
5:02>> He wanted them to go to know is that he
5:05wanted them not just to have a church
5:07membership. Even though church
5:09membership is important,
5:11>> right?
5:11>> You need a pastor. You need you need a
5:13church that's going to be here for you.
5:16But the greatest thing he wanted for
5:17them was a relationship with him. Right?
5:21>> He wanted THEM TO HAVE THAT KIND of
5:22relationship.
5:24>> And so some of Jesus's words may be of
5:26hard to understand because the real
5:28problem was he was calling for a radical
5:31change in their lives. Amen. His first
5:35words were blessed are the poor in
5:36spirit for theirs is a kingdom of
5:39heaven. Actually the word blessed could
5:41be changed to happy. Happy are the poor.
5:43That doesn't sound right, does it? Happy
5:45are the sad. Happy are the meek. Happy
5:47are the hungry. Happy are the merciful.
5:49If I was to ask some of you, how many
5:51would be uh happy being poor the rest of
5:53your life?
5:54>> Nobody would like that. How many would
5:56like to be rich the rest of your life?
5:58>> Great. So you can put more in the
6:00community offering that's coming up so
6:02you get you a new church so you can all
6:04have church at one time and very very
6:06soon. It's in your pocket. You want that
6:08revival. It's in your pocket.
6:10>> Amen. Amen. Amen. But the word the word
6:13uh uh uh uh blessed are the poor. The
6:16word poor actually means in the Greek a
6:18humble and devout person.
6:20>> Which means that everybody who comes to
6:23God must lower theirelves down and say,
6:26"Okay, God, I'm not showing off my
6:28money. I'm not showing off my suit. I'm
6:31not showing off my lizard shoes. I'm not
6:33showing off my new hairstyle. I just
6:35want you to know I love you
6:37>> and I'm humbling myself to be in your
6:39presence.
6:42I don't know how any of you FEEL TODAY.
6:44I DON'T DESERVE THIS.
6:47>> HE'S GIVEN ME MORE THAN I DESERVE.
6:51>> AND I WANT HIM TO KNOW I'M THANKFUL FOR
6:54IT. EVERYTHING I HAVE IS BECAUSE OF YOU.
7:03>> And if you want to GET SOMETHING FROM
7:05GOD TODAY,
7:07>> you got to empty out yourself. of the
7:11junk you've been going through this
7:12week.
7:13>> Yeah,
7:14>> I don't know if I should say this. If
7:15I'm out of line, pastor, just jerk me
7:17back. All right, I'm good with that.
7:19Amen. You stay on Tik Tok too long. You
7:21listen so much dirty stuff and ungodly
7:24stuff, it'll drag you down. You can stay
7:27on Facebook or look at the news, ladies
7:29and gentlemen, and it will drag you
7:31down. So, ladies and gentlemen, when you
7:34come in, you got to FORGET ALL THAT
7:35NEGATIVE YOU'VE HAD ALL WEEK. ALL THAT
7:38STUFF IS TRYING TO PULL YOU DOWN AND
7:39SAY, "JESUS, I'M HUNGRY. I'M THIRSTY.
7:43I'M POOR. FILL ME UP."
7:47>> Come on, somebody clap your hands to the
7:49Lord and give Jesus praise.
7:56>> Amen. I I've had a few talk shows that
7:58I've had to try to get rid of
8:01>> because they drag you down.
8:03>> Amen. And I even like Fox News, but
8:05sometimes they talk about so much
8:06negative stuff.
8:08>> I don't even want to hear that anymore.
8:10>> I just want to say, Jesus, is there
8:12anything good that's going to happen
8:13today?
8:15>> Jesus taught some really tough words. He
8:17talked about the salt salt of the earth.
8:19He talked about murder and anger. He
8:21talked about temptation, divorce, oaths,
8:23and forgiveness. Talked about giving,
8:25prayer, fasting, treasures in heaven.
8:27Talked about worrying, judging, and
8:29being just. And then finally in the la
8:31closing remarks of Matthew chapter 7, he
8:34says something that hit me pretty hard
8:36because I was born and raised in
8:38Mississippi. There's a different
8:39mentality of being born and raised in
8:41Mississippi.
8:42Jesus taught them to love your enemies.
8:46>> And he said if they smite you on one
8:48cheek,
8:49you're supposed to turn that other
8:50cheek.
8:52>> But my family taught us if they hit you
8:54on one cheek, they hit you on the left
8:56cheek, look out. The right hook's coming
8:58next.
9:00But the more we thought on that, we
9:02could never fight our way into God's
9:04kingdom.
9:05>> If people mistreat us, we got to turn
9:07around and try to treat them nice.
9:09>> I know it's tough.
9:11>> But that's what Jesus taught.
9:12>> And if you want to be like Jesus, you've
9:14got to learn how to do it his way.
9:18>> Jesus was beaten and he never said a
9:20word. Jesus took the stripes for our
9:22sins. He never opened his mouth. He drug
9:25himself as far as he could with that
9:26cross and he fell down. Thank God there
9:29was somebody that could pick up and
9:30carry the cross the rest of the way. He
9:32never said anything about it. So if
9:34you're sitting in a place thinking, man,
9:36I'm mad at somebody. I want to get
9:38somebody back. That's not how it is to
9:40live for God.
9:41>> You've got to somehow say, okay, God,
9:43I've got to get rid of all these things
9:45before I can do anything for you.
9:48>> I don't know if y'all read Dr. Eugene
9:50Wilson down here. He's probably not a
9:52red book around here. Amen. Dr. Eugene
9:54re uh Wilson told a story or wrote a
9:57wrote a situation about the two models
9:59of a local church. Probably 95% of local
10:03churches in this area uh depend upon the
10:06lake model. The lake model is a place
10:08where you go out and have a good time.
10:10Everybody come to church. Come on in,
10:12enjoy yourself. You get a little bit
10:13hot, jump out in the lake, swim around a
10:15little while, and come on back in just
10:17like you are. That's the lake model.
10:19Probably 95% of the churches in this
10:21area abide by that. But then he told
10:24another story about a river model.
10:26There's a difference between a river
10:27model and a lake model. Because ladies
10:29and gentlemen, a river model does
10:31something different than a lake model. A
10:33lake model, you jump in the in the lake
10:35and you usually get out of the lake the
10:37same place you jumped in. But if you
10:39ever move into the river, you'll find
10:40out the river moves you.
10:46>> So I I I just want you to know I believe
10:49in a river. JESUS WAS BAPTIZED IN THE
10:51JORDAN RIVER.
10:52>> CUZ HE WANTED YOU TO KNOW EVERY TIME YOU
10:54COME TO CHURCH, STEP IN.
10:56>> BUT WATCH OUT. YOU'RE GOING TO BE MOVED.
10:59>> YOU'RE NOT GETTING OUT THE SAME PLACE
11:01YOU CAME. I'M NOT LEAVING THIS PLACE.
11:04I'M NOT LEAVING THE CATHEDRAL OF
11:06PENTECOST THE SAME WAY I CAME CUZ A
11:09RIVER HAS MOVED ME.
11:12>> OH, somebody clap your hands. Anybody
11:14feel like moving on up?
11:18Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. So
11:21that was Dr. Eugene Wilson. If you see
11:23him, tell him about it.
11:24>> Yes, sir.
11:25>> Amen. The river model keeps you going.
11:27He went on to say a little more about
11:28that. And so I'll share this with you
11:30and keep going. These are the five
11:33values of a growing church. And I
11:35believe your church is growing.
11:37>> Number one, we need to value a move of
11:39God.
11:39>> Right?
11:40>> I've been enough services where there
11:42was a move of God. I thank God for when
11:43we have a move of God. Yes.
11:45>> Thank God for all of the praise singers,
11:47all the musicians, everything was in
11:49tune. The guitar player lost the string.
11:51I hate that. I hope he gets one back.
11:55>> A value move of God. We also need to
11:57value being kind one to another.
11:59>> Yes.
12:00>> Everybody's not in the same social
12:01status as us or financial status as us.
12:04>> But we don't need to look down on any
12:06particular person.
12:08>> Everybody is so important.
12:10>> Amen. We need to value being kind one to
12:12another. We need to value team ministry.
12:15>> I'm so excited about what I saw on your
12:17platform singing. I was hoping they
12:18would give me a mic again today, but I I
12:21I tried to get it the first service.
12:22They decline me. I tried it again the
12:24second time, but I want to make sure my
12:26mic was off because they had the they
12:28had the harmony. But I appreciate people
12:30who do team membership. And I'm very I'm
12:33very shock. I'm very happy to see your
12:35prayer warriors up here that when you
12:37come down to pray, you got a prayer
12:38team. That's the first time I've ever
12:40seen that. Amen. 50 years. That's time
12:42for me to tighten up and do better. All
12:44right. We also value fellowship. Amen.
12:47Anybody like having fun and fellowship.
12:49I like eating and having games and all
12:51this kind of stuff. I'm all for that
12:53stuff. I want to be serious sometimes,
12:55but I also want to have a little bit of
12:56fun sometimes.
12:58>> But last but not least, we need to value
13:00doctrine.
13:01>> I know your pastors already talked about
13:03you got to repent of your sins. You got
13:05to be baptized in the name of Jesus
13:07Christ for the remission of your sins.
13:10and you shall be filled with the Holy
13:12Ghost if you please.
13:14>> All these things are very very important
13:16to make a church, a growing church grow,
13:19keep continue to grow. Amen. But Jesus
13:22taught all of this stuff on the sermon
13:24on the mount. I I'm just blown away by
13:26reading it. What kind of great words
13:28that he said here is the master, the
13:30Messiah, the great king of kings, the
13:33lord of lords talking to him. But as far
13:36as I know, there was no amens on the
13:39sermon on the mount. No hallelujah on
13:42the sermon on the mount. No thank you
13:44Jesus's on the sermon on the m.
13:47>> And so after Jesus got to preaching and
13:50talking to a bunch of boring people,
13:53he decided, I'm coming off the mound.
13:56Uh-huh.
13:57>> And when he came off the mound,
14:00>> he was met by somebody that according to
14:03our statistics, he should not have met,
14:06>> right?
14:07>> He should not have had allowed them to
14:10even show any bit of his time. But
14:12ladies and gentlemen, he saw a leper and
14:15the Bible said that the leper worshiped
14:18him.
14:19>> Come on up here, Ray. I'm gonna use you
14:21a little bit if it's all right. I want
14:22you to be the leper. You be right over
14:24here bro.
14:25>> Amen. And amen. Hang in here. Don't
14:27leave me. Okay, just stay there till I
14:28tell you to leave. All right. Can you
14:30imagine how Jesus and the multitudes are
14:33coming off the mound. This is my sermon
14:36off the mound. No worship and praise on
14:38the mound. But when he came off, a leper
14:41started worshiping him.
14:43>> And ladies and gentlemen, this is what
14:44causes Jesus to stop in his tracks.
14:47>> I know I got a bunch of folks that ain't
14:49said amen yet. I know I got a bunch of
14:51folks ain't say hallelujah. I KNOW I GOT
14:53A BUNCH OF FOLKS THAT AIN'T BEEN
14:54EXCITED.
14:55THIS GUY'S WORSHIPING ME.
15:01>> SO HE WENT OVER TO HIM. YES, I know the
15:03law. I'm not trying to break the law.
15:05But he WENT TO HIM AND HE TOUCHED HIM.
15:08>> YES.
15:09>> WHY? BECAUSE HE SAID, "LORD, I KNOW THAT
15:12IF YOU WILL, THOU COULDEST MAKE ME
15:14WHOLE."
15:16>> And Jesus IN HIS WAY SAID, "I WILL." AND
15:19HE TOUCHED HIM AND HE WAS MADE WHOLE.
15:28ALL RIGHT, here is my subliminal
15:31message.
15:32>> There is a difference between praise
15:35>> and worship.
15:37>> Praise is defined about how God what God
15:41has done for you.
15:42>> Okay?
15:42>> Anybody out there God's been good to you
15:44this morning, this week?
15:46>> He blessed you with a job. He blessed
15:48you with a house. He blessed you with
15:49finances. He allowed you to show up
15:51today. Now that's praise. All right. But
15:54worship is something different.
15:56>> Worship is telling God who he is.
16:02>> THE LEPER SAID, "YOU CAN HEAL ME. I KNOW
16:05YOU CAN. YOU ARE GOD." AND THAT'S WHAT
16:08WORSHIP DOES.
16:11>> HE MAY OVERLOOK YOUR PRAISE
16:12OCCASIONALLY, BUT HE WILL NEVER OVERLOOK
16:15YOUR WORSHIP.
16:18WHEN YOU START TELLING HIM WHO HE IS,
16:20YOU'RE THE MIGHTY GOD. YOU'RE THE
16:22EVERLASTING FATHER. YOU'RE THE PRINCE OF
16:24PEACE. YOU'RE THE HEALER. YOU'RE THE
16:26DELIVERER. YOU ARE GOD ALONE. NOBODY CAN
16:29STOP IT.
16:35>> And when you worship him, he will stop
16:38his track and he will go where you're
16:40going.
16:43Ladies and gentlemen, it's not in the
16:45Bible but
16:46>> I'm a big advocate for mental health.
16:48>> Yes,
16:49>> that's good.
16:49>> And I think Jesus gave Sugar, I mean,
16:52>> Ray,
16:54>> Jesus gave the leper a hug.
16:57>> I think when he walked off a little few
16:59few more steps, he thought, "Man, that
17:01felt good. I'm going back for some
17:02more."
17:03>> Gave him that second hug.
17:10Because mental health plans say that
17:13everybody needs at least four hugs a
17:14day.
17:17>> Amen. Just just just exist. And if you
17:20want to succeed in life, you need at
17:21least eight hugs.
17:24>> But the normal person needs at least 12
17:25hugs a day.
17:27>> So I think Jesus went back for the third
17:29time.
17:32>> You are made whole, buddy.
17:39Oh, I forgot that fourth time. We got to
17:40put you in a normal status, bro.
17:43>> YOU'RE MADE WHOLE.
17:46You can be seated, Ray. I ain't going to
17:47hug you eight times. Okay.
17:51>> You know, when I read this in the mental
17:53health book that we need at least eight
17:54hugs a day, man, all they got to do is
17:56come to a Pentecostal church.
17:59>> Amen. I I've hugged a bunch of I already
18:01got my 12 hugs already.
18:03>> And these were just men. Yeah.
18:05>> And if I'm a little short, I'll take
18:06care of that with my wife. I get 12
18:08today. I promise you that.
18:10>> Ladies and gentlemen, I'm shocked that
18:13no miracles took place on the sermon on
18:15the mound. But the DAY HE GOT OFF the
18:17mound, something started happening. If
18:20you'll just continue the reading in
18:22Matthew, it was after that miracle after
18:24MIRACLE AFTER MIRACLE TOOK place
18:28>> because people that didn't deserve
18:32>> I don't know. Let me get a sip of water
18:35here. Somebody say hallelujah.
18:37>> Hallelujah.
18:41>> Hallelujah.
18:43>> Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you
18:45what that leprosy man probably fell. He
18:49probably is looking at Jesus saying, "I
18:52don't deserve to be there. I'm not
18:54really allowed to be there. I I I'm not
18:57privileged. I can't go there." The
18:59leprosy man did not come to Jesus.
19:02>> Jesus came to the leprosy man.
19:05>> Why? Because he worshiped him.
19:07>> Could I go ahead and tell you the reason
19:08why he couldn't come to Jesus was
19:11because he had few qualities.
19:14>> Everybody say few qualities.
19:15>> Few qualities.
19:16>> Let me explain to you what few stands
19:18for. F stands for faith.
19:20>> Okay?
19:21>> If you've got faith, it's impossible to
19:23please God. Without faith, it's
19:25impossible to please God. BUT IF YOU CAN
19:27HAVE FAITH, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.
19:32>> SOMEBODY SAY, "THE LEPOUS MAN HAD
19:34FAITH."
19:36>> He had the Eve, part of the few part of
19:39the E was enthusiasm.
19:41>> Okay,
19:42>> ladies and gentlemen, I I don't know
19:44what you think. This is what STEVE
19:45CANNON THINKS. JESUS, I KNOW YOU CAN
19:48HEAR ME. IF THOU WILT, YOU CAN do it.
19:53>> HOW YOU GOING TO OVERLOOK THAT? SOMEBODY
19:55WHO'S ENTHUSIASM.
20:00>> Where's my man that said that that
20:02America WON HOCKEY THING? GET UP, BUDDY.
20:04>> YOU GOING TO GET ALL EXCITED ABOUT THE
20:06HOCKEY AND FORGET THIS STUFF?
20:08>> We got TO GET EXCITED ABOUT WHO'S HERE.
20:11WE GOT TO GET EXCITED ABOUT THE HEALERS
20:13IN THE HOUSE.
20:23You know, I think our greatest
20:25enthusiasm ought to be to Jesus Christ.
20:30>> No football, no baseball, no other kind
20:33of sports that's out there. HE'S GOT TO
20:34HAVE THE HIGHEST PRAISE.
20:36>> It's got to be It's got to be
20:39enthusiastic
20:40>> and it's got to go TO THE PLACE WHERE
20:42IT'S WORSHIP.
20:46YOU are my king.
20:48>> Somebody clap your hands to the Lord
20:50today.
20:56>> You You can be seated. Sorry to wake you
20:58up. So early in the afternoon. I'm your
21:01alarm clock at what is it? 12:17.
21:04I can't read. Can't see. I don't have my
21:06glasses on. That's good. Can I break out
21:08some old old Pentecostal history? Would
21:10it be okay? folks that a little bit
21:12frustrated, a little bit out of control
21:14just got to the place in their life
21:16where it just ain't nothing happening.
21:19At the beginning of the 20th century
21:21leadership,
21:22men like Charles Pum,
21:24>> right?
21:25>> Yes.
21:25>> Who was the founder of a small Bible
21:27college in Topeka, Kansas,
21:29>> he kept preaching and saying,
21:32"I read Acts and they got the Holy
21:35Ghost, BUT WE HADN'T GOT IT YET."
21:36>> YES.
21:37>> BUT he started preaching it. Yes.
21:39>> But at a watch night service, Agnes Osma
21:42stood up in the crowd and began to speak
21:44in other tongues as the spirit of God
21:46gave her utters. AND HE SAID, "THAT'S
21:48WHAT WE NEED RIGHT THERE.
21:51>> That's what we need.
21:54>> If I go a little further to William
21:55Seymour, the founder of the Zuza Street
21:57Revival,
21:58>> Los Angeles, California,
22:00>> he started preaching the baptism of the
22:02Holy Ghost and speaking with other
22:03tongues, but he had never received it.
22:06But he kept on saying, "I know it's real
22:08because it's in the Bible." And he kept
22:09on going. He kept preaching it. And
22:11ladies and gentlemen, one night in his
22:13service, eight people stood up at one
22:14time and started speaking in other
22:16tongues. HE SAID, "THAT'S WHAT'S GOING
22:18TO CAUSE THE ISUZA STREET REVIVAL." AND
22:20YES, I'M HERE BECAUSE OF THE ISUZA
22:23STREET REVIVAL. IT SPREAD ALL OVER
22:25AMERICA BECAUSE SOMEBODY WHO COULDN'T
22:27BELIEVE it believed it.
22:31>> That's right. Come on.
22:32>> And in the last story, Howard Goss, our
22:36first ever United Pentecostal Church
22:38general superintendent,
22:39>> was an evangelist and he had been
22:42preaching Acts chapter 2 without any
22:44results from his congregation. And one
22:47night he was so fervent about preaching
22:49about the Holy Ghost and he was hoping
22:51everybody would come down to the altar,
22:53but nobody came. So Howard Goss walked
22:56off the platform, was begging people to
22:58come to the altar. Nobody came. So he
23:01knelt down, the only one in the altar,
23:04>> and he was filled with the Holy Ghost
23:06himself.
23:07>> God,
23:11>> he prayed and preached himself INTO THE
23:13ALTAR AND HE GOT THE HOLY GHOST.
23:16>> HALLELUJAH.
23:18>> Let it be, oh Lord.
23:19>> There's something in my spirit today. I
23:21want to tell you, IF YOU'VE GOT LOST
23:23FOLKS OUT THERE, THERE'S TWO OPTIONS.
23:26>> You can worry or you can worship.
23:33I hope I don't get out of control. Y'all
23:34help me. All right. Amen. I've decided
23:38>> I've got a lost daughter.
23:39>> She's not living for God. I can worry
23:42for the rest of my life and I'll never
23:43make it to 70.
23:45>> It's not but a year and a half, but I'll
23:46never make it there if I worry.
23:48>> So, I have decided every time I come to
23:51church, instead of worrying about her,
23:54I'm just thinking what she's going to
23:56look like when she walks in those doors.
24:00SHE'S NOT WORSHIPING NOW. BUT I'M
24:02WORSHIPING FAR CUZ SHE'S COMING HOME.
24:05YOUR BACKSLIDE KIDS ARE COMING HOME. OUR
24:08BACKSLIDING GRANDCHILDREN ARE COMING
24:10HOME CUZ I'M GOING TO WORSHIP. COME ON.
24:13CUZ I'M GOING TO PRAISE. I'M GOING TO DO
24:16IT IN ADVANCE.
24:19>> Let's all stand. Let's give God some
24:21praise, would you?
24:30Hallelujah.
24:32>> Come on, somebody clap your hands.
24:33Somebody leap for joy. Somebody give God
24:36some praise.
24:40>> If it hasn't happened, just keep
24:42praying. IF IT HASN'T TAKEN PLACE, KEEP
24:44PRAYING.
24:50>> Praise him.
24:52>> Hallelujah.
24:54Hallelujah.
24:58>> Thank you, Jesus.
25:04>> I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU WHEN YOU STEP
25:05OUT OF THE AISLE AND YOU START
25:07WORSHIPING FOR YOUR LOST FAMILY, GOD
25:09NOTICES IT.
25:20>> Somebody clap your hands. Let's give him
25:21some praise. Would you
25:31just remain standing? The singers are
25:33coming. That's usually a sign they know
25:35that I'm just about done.
25:41>> Revival happened in the church with a
25:42little six-year-old. I know we don't
25:43have our children in here because
25:44they're in the back. I'm telling this
25:47story last
25:49>> six-year-old girl kept hearing the
25:52preacher talk about we're going to have
25:53a revival.
25:54>> God's going to give us 100 soul revival.
25:57He's going to fill our church up. And
26:00maybe nobody else was listening. But the
26:03little six-year-old girl was.
26:06After the service was over that Sunday,
26:08she caught the pastor by the coattail
26:10and said, "I'm only six years old, but
26:12I'm going to be a part of that revival.
26:16Hallelujah.
26:17>> Pastor kind of laughed. Said, "I know
26:19you will, honey. I know you will." But
26:21it was every Sunday that he came to
26:23church that she showed up after church
26:24and pulled his coattail and said, "I'm
26:27praying that I can be the part of that
26:29revival of the last day."
26:31She was seven years old. I didn't give
26:33the folks a picture. I'm sorry. I should
26:35have. She was baptized at seven years
26:37old. She said, "Now I can do it. I'm
26:40baptized in Jesus name. I got the Holy
26:42Ghost. I'm gonna be a part of that.
26:45for weeks upon weeks, she kept pulling
26:47the pastor's coattail and he says, "I
26:48know you are, honey. I know you are."
26:50They were in a revival service. And in
26:53that revival service, the mom and the
26:56dad and the little girl in the back seat
26:57decided they were going to go home after
26:59church and get some gas, get some food,
27:01and go home. When they stopped at the
27:04gas station, the dad got out and got the
27:05gas going. The mom was probably in the
27:07front playing on the phone. But the
27:09little girl looked out the window and
27:10saw a lady in a car right beside them
27:13crying. and profusively weeping.
27:17And so she looked out and thought, you
27:18know what? What's wrong with the lady?
27:21And so after looking at it for a while,
27:22she opened up her door, walked over to
27:25the lady and said, "Lady, Jesus can
27:28forgive you for that."
27:31And so that's about the time that the
27:33mom saw the little girl over there, and
27:34she thought, "What in the world has my
27:36little girl said to that woman? She's
27:39crying." Of course, if you ever had a
27:41six-year-old
27:43and you ever had a seveny old,
27:45you know they can say anything.
27:48And so the mom's trying to apologize to
27:51the least. She comes around the mom,
27:52starts to try to apologize. She said,
27:54"No, your daughter just told me
27:57something that changed my life. You She
27:59said that Jesus could forgive me for
28:01this." And she told the woman said,
28:03"I've got so many things that I've done
28:05wrong. I'm looking for some forgiveness.
28:10So they gave the the man an address that
28:11was working on the car. And they got the
28:14lady in the car and drove her to the
28:16church. Everybody was gone, but the
28:19preachers, they were having a little
28:20fellowship, having a good time. And the
28:22little girl grabbed the woman who was
28:24crying by the hand and led her into the
28:25church. Pastor met him and said, "Hey,
28:28how you doing there?" I said, "Oh, we're
28:29great." Said, "This lady needs some
28:32forgiveness. Just wondering if our
28:33church could help her out." They said,
28:35"Oh, great. We're going in the
28:36auditorium. we're going to pray. So they
28:38went into the auditorium and began to
28:40pray. And all of a sudden, the pastor
28:43says, "Hold it, guys. Hold it. Stop it
28:45now.
28:47Something's wrong here. This woman is
28:48demonpossessed."
28:51So they had to pray and ask God to get
28:53the demons out of that woman.
28:57>> And then they prayed for her and she got
28:58the Holy Ghost.
29:07seveny old.
29:11Now I'm going to pause for station
29:12identification again. Okay,
29:15that woman didn't just get demonp
29:17possessed when she came to the church. A
29:20little girl looked at somebody who was
29:22demonp possessed and said, "Jesus can
29:23forgive you for that." And hell and
29:25said, "I can't touch that.
29:27>> I can't touch that. I I can't get any
29:29closer to that." That's it.
29:35her boyfriend walked in behind and said,
29:37"What's going on here?" She was speaking
29:38in tongues. They prayed for him and he
29:40got the Holy Ghost right there beside
29:41her.
29:48That couple brought another couple the
29:50next week.
29:52>> They were filled with the Holy Ghost and
29:53baptized in Jesus name.
29:56For 20 straight weeks,
30:00that couple kept bringing more people to
30:02church than anybody else. The 100 that
30:05they had hoped for came because of a
30:08little seven-year-old girl who decided,
30:10"Hey, I'm not on the mound. That's
30:12that's a sermon on I'm coming off the
30:14mound. I'm going right out in THE
30:16AUDIENCE.
30:18NOBODY KNOWS WHO I AM, BUT I WANT TO BE
30:21A PART OF THAT REVIVAL OF THE LAST DAY.
30:25I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN.
30:27I DON'T KNOW HOW IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. I
30:29DON'T KNOW WHO'S GOING TO CAUSE IT TO
30:31HAPPEN, BUT I'M GOING TO be there.
30:37So, you know, can I give you a little
30:40secret? Thank God you have all these
30:42folks to pray for you up here. And I'm
30:44all for that. I'm wonderful. But what
30:46would happen if we decided that we're
30:49not going to be on the mound? We're
30:50going to start working down here off the
30:52mound.
30:53So if somebody needs a miracle,
30:56all you got to do is reach over who's
30:58next to you and say in the name of
31:01Jesus.
31:03That's what happened when you get off
31:04the mound. In the name of Jesus. In the
31:08name. Is it possible? Yes, it is. Oh,
31:10but I'm not a preacher. Who cares about
31:13that? They shall lay hands on the sick.
31:14He that believeth and is baptized shall
31:16be saved. And these signs SHALL FOLLOW
31:18THEM THAT BELIEVE. JUST REACH OVER AND
31:21YOUR NEIGHBOR MAY HAVE A MIRACLE WAITING
31:23ON THEM TODAY.
31:31Come on, church. Let's get off the
31:34mound. Let's get off OF THE PLATFORM.
31:37COME DOWN TO THE crowd
31:40and meet our visitors and shake their
31:42hand and say, "This is your day. This is
31:46your day. This is your hour. This is
31:49your time for a miracle. Today is your
31:52day to be a part of the kingdom of God.
31:54It's not over. God is good. Oh, what a
