0:00like to introduce our speaker for tonight, Justin Montgomery. Praise the Lord
0:01everybody. You know, it's the Spirit of God that can just move
0:07in a place and just touch you in a moment. And it's
0:13nights like tonight that's in the middle of the week. It's a
0:18simple night that lives can be changed, that people can receive the
0:24Holy Ghost. And if you're here tonight and you have a need,
0:30you're in the right place. So let's take one more moment and give
0:36him some praise. Lord, we love you. We thank you for being who you
0:42are to us. Lord, we give you all the honor and all the praise
0:47tonight. We ask that you meet every need that is represented here tonight. Cover
0:53this house and have your way, oh God. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.
0:59Thank you, Jesus. You may be seated. It feels good to be back up
1:05here with you all tonight, this evening. And God is so good.
1:11And I'm so thankful for his truth. And it's one of my favorite topics to
1:16talk about. If you ever want to get coffee and just go talk about the
1:21goodness of God, let's go. Because it's a topic that I can just go on
1:26and on. And tonight I'm so overwhelmed. One of the songs that just hit me
1:31in a certain way, I saw it after him and he heard me and he
1:37answered. And how many times have we had to seek after him? And how many
1:42times has he answered us? He's a good God. And I'm so thankful for truth.
1:48and i'm so thankful to be with you all tonight remember our
1:53pastor and first lady tonight through at our general conference for our
1:59organization this week and i believe yesterday evening they inducted pastor's dad
2:05who has recently passed into the hall of fame for the ministers
2:10so well deserved and we're in the middle of family month and
2:16it's been exciting it's been an exciting time it always is
2:22And Sunday, the kids loved it. And there were so many new faces here that
2:28we had. So that was that was pretty amazing to see. And I just want
2:33to remind everybody in December, it's not that far away. Honestly, is the live nativity
2:39that we have coming up. So that's going to be really exciting to you as
2:44well. And if you want to throw your hand at the plow and
2:50help during that time, please let me or Sister Annette know, and we will find
2:56you a spot. So be on the lookout for that, too. And also, did you
3:01know the rapture was supposed to happen today? I didn't look too much into it.
3:07I just saw some things here and there that today that the rapture was going
3:12to take place. But I do have to say, and I haven't studied it too
3:17in depth, but it is pretty interesting that... when Jesus was crucified, when he was
3:23in the tomb, when he rose again, and on the day of Pentecost, they all
3:28happened on the exact feast days. There's seven Jewish feasts throughout the year. There's four
3:33in the spring and three in the winter. And today, I believe, is the first
3:38one of the fall, I should say. So no one knows the day or the
3:44hours, what the word says, but it should all keep us on our toes. Yeah.
3:49Because whether we go by the grave or by the air, you never know. So
3:55tonight's core verse that I want to share with you, and I would ask my,
4:01they're not my pickleball friends anymore, they're my friends. But we've been doing Bible studies
4:07now for several months, and I'll ask them to act like they've never heard this
4:13lesson before. So the core verse tonight, and I actually wore
4:19socks tonight in honor of them. They're pickleball socks given to
4:24me by Mike Leonard. So the core verse for tonight that
4:30we'll focus on is Matthew 16, chapter 16, verses 13 through
4:3615. And when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi,
4:41he asked his disciples saying, who do men say that I,
4:47the son of man, am? So they said, some say
4:53John the Baptist, some Elijah, others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
4:59He then said to them, but who do you say that I
5:05am? Who do you say that I am? And I want to
5:11lay a little bit of groundwork for this message tonight before we
5:17get into the core of it. There's a foundational truth to God
5:23that we know, and that's that he is one. He is
5:29the one true God. And this was established early on in Deuteronomy, a verse that
5:35we're all familiar with. Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
5:41You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
5:47and with all your strength. This is foundational to knowing to who God is. He
5:53is one. There is one God. There is only one true God. And the word
5:59testifies of this over and over. God is a spirit. God is invisible,
6:05God is everywhere, God is all-knowing, God is eternal, and God does not change.
6:10Are you thankful for that truth? Isaiah spoke of this over and over again.
6:16If you read some of the chapters in Isaiah 40 through 46, it just
6:22hits on it again and again and again. And so I wanted to read
6:28some of these from Isaiah to you as well. That you may know and
6:34believe me and understand that I am he.

7:16that they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting
7:22that there is none besides me. I am the Lord and there is
7:28no other. Isaiah 45 verses 21 through 22. Who has declared this from
7:33ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I the
7:39Lord? And there is no other God besides me, a just God and
7:44a Savior. There is none besides me. Look to me and be saved.
7:51all you ends of the earth, for I am God and there is no other.
7:56In Isaiah 46 and 9, remember the former things of old, for I am God
8:01and there is no other. I am God and there is none like me. So
8:07over and over you see in the Old Testament establishing there is one God. There
8:12is one true God. And in Deuteronomy, the verse we read earlier says to love
8:17him, to love that one true God with all your heart, with all your soul,
8:23and with all your mind. and when um some of the
8:29jewish leaders of jesus they came to him testing him asking him because
8:34they knew the law they knew um the word they were asking him
8:40testing him what's the greatest commandment of all and matthew 22 verses 34
8:46through 40 and i'm reading from the new king james version if you're
8:52looking into the kjv They asked him a question, testing him and
8:58saying, Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law? And Jesus said to him,
9:04You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul
9:09and with all your mind. So this is the first and great commandment. And the
9:15second is like it, that you shall love your neighbor as yourself. And on these
9:21two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. So look to your neighbor and
9:27say, I love you. And if you don't have
9:33a neighbor on the other side, look to that same neighbor and say, I
9:38love you still. So the greatest commandment of all is to love this one
9:44true God with all of our heart, with our soul, with all our mind.
9:50And it was this God that loved his creation so much that he came
9:55down. He came to earth. And the Bible says that when the fullness of
10:01time had come, that God sent forth his son, born of a woman, born
10:07under the law. So at that chosen time that God had, he
10:12came down to earth. God never sees being God. He never advocated
10:18his throne, but he came down to earth for us, for his
10:24creation. And Isaiah 9, 6 says this, for unto us, the child
10:30is born unto us. A son is given and the government will
10:35be upon his shoulder and his name will be called Wonderful Counselor,
10:41Mighty God, everlasting father and the prince of peace. In Matthew, it says
10:47that, behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they
10:53shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted God with us. And back in
10:59Isaiah 35, it says, be strong and do not fear. Behold, your God will
11:05come with vengeance. For the recompense of God, he will come and save you.
11:11Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened and the ears of the
11:17deaf shall be unstopped. The lame shall leap like a deer and
11:22the tongue of the dumb shall sink. And Thomas realized this as well
11:28after Jesus' passion, after he rose again. Thomas called him his Lord and
11:34his God when he got the revelation of who he really was. And
11:40another verse that we're all familiar with in John chapter 1. In the
11:46beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word
11:52was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were
11:58made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made. In him was
12:04life, and the life was the light of men. Verses 10 through 11, he was
12:09in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world did not
12:15know him. He came to his own, and they did not receive him. In verse
12:2114, and the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory.
12:27The glory is the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
12:32And how many times in today's world does God come to people and they
12:38receive him not? I just want to pick and choose a little bit of
12:44God of what I want. I want this little piece that makes me feel
12:49good. I want this little piece that will get me over this next hump.
12:55And they're okay. Colossians 1, verse 15, he's the image of the invisible God,
13:01the firstborn over all creation. And this is one of my favorite verses to
13:07talk about. Godliness. It's 1 Timothy 3, 16.
13:12And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifested in
13:18the flesh. He was justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among
13:24the Gentiles, believed on in the world and received up into glory. There's
13:30a mystery to it all. But those that really want to see it,
13:36those that seek to see it, those that love God, they will see
13:42it. And in today's world and throughout all of time, people
13:47have tried to categorize God, tried to put him into these boxes of who he
13:53is and what he is. And they never got it right because they're not trying
13:59to know him. They're just trying to fill a space or tell of who he
14:04is, but they don't truly want to have a relationship with him. But when you
14:10really want a relationship with him, he will reveal who he is to you.
14:19And it's a divine revelation, whether it's gradual or rather if it's immediate.
14:25I can tell you from my experience, I remember the place where I
14:31was. I remember the moment I was in that it hit me that
14:37this is the truth. And I was 14 at the time, and I
14:42had already been on a journey of like two years, like seeking after
14:48God, yearning after God, trying to get saved or trying to figure
14:54out what I need to do because I was just felt so lost and I
15:00went through all these motions of the church that I came out of met friends
15:06that were apostolic and it was about two years into this that I was at
15:12Fellowship of Christian Athletes it was a group that's in high school and we went
15:18to a camp in Kentucky and it was like a non-denom service And people
15:24were there worshiping, raising their hands. But it was something about that service that it
15:29hit me in that moment that what my apostolic friends had was the truth. And
15:34it was from that moment on, I can't say that I saw that God was
15:39one at that moment. I hadn't received the Holy Ghost yet. But in my mind
15:45and in my heart, I knew what they had was the truth. So from that
15:50moment, I had made up my mind that that's what I was going after. And
15:56it was a month later that God filled me with the Holy Ghost. And it
16:02was a moment that when I received the Holy Ghost at that moment, it was
16:07in that moment that I knew that's what I had been looking for this whole
16:13time. Amen. And we all have stories like this. But that's where I saw the
16:19truth. And it wasn't the moment that I saw Jesus' name revelation, but in my
16:25heart I knew what they had was it. So we've established that. God
16:31is one. And like I said, it's a revelation that that you that we
16:36receive. It's not always something that you can just read and. OK, I get
16:42it. It's a divine thing that happens in Jesus day. There were groups. We
16:47know we we know of Jesus and his disciples and those that followed him.
16:53But that was a common thing back in his day. There were teachers, there
16:59were scholars, teachers. that would have groups, small groups of people following them
17:05that would listen to their teachings. Some were rabbis, some were philosophers. It
17:10wasn't an uncommon thing. And John the Baptist, he had disciples that followed
17:16him for his teachings on repentance and baptism. But the difference in the
17:21disciples of Jesus and the other schools of thought was that Jesus was
17:27calling them to a personal relationship with him. and to a mission
17:33to the kingdom of God that would turn this world upside down. And that was
17:38the difference between him and what everyone else was teaching. Some were teaching about nature,
17:44some were teaching about the yards, whatever it may be, but he was calling them
17:49to him. And Jesus and his disciples were together for three, three and a half
17:54years, and he taught them on servanthood, how to live, kingdom of God. But
18:00it wasn't until about halfway through this three-year mark that they began to get
18:06a grasp and understand of who he truly was. He healed the sick. He
18:11fed the 5,000. He performed all these miracles. He walked on the water. He
18:17calmed the storm. And Jesus had more disciples than just his 12 that we
18:23normally focus on. There were other broader groups that followed him around from town
18:29to town, saw his miracles, saw his teachings. And Jesus
18:35was asked one day, what sign shall they receive from him that they can believe?
18:40And so at this moment, Jesus is explaining to them that he's the bread of
18:46life. And he told them, I am the bread that came down out of heaven
18:52in the wilderness and that he was the bread that came down out of heaven.
18:58And at that moment, they started putting two and two together. The these Jewish disciples
19:04that were following him and they started to put together that he's is he saying
19:10that he's God? Because they knew that there's only one God.
19:16and the word says that the jews started to murmur and to talk and they
19:22were said they would say isn't this jesus the son of joseph whose father we
19:27know born of a man is it is this him is he just trying to
19:33get attention he's just a a teacher or a politician trying to escape where he
19:39was living from this is what they were murmuring about at that time and the
19:45the disciples following him the larger group they said this is a hard thing to
19:51hear This is difficult to hear what you're saying because you're saying
19:57that you are God because they knew that there was one God. And now
20:03they see a man in flesh that is saying this. And this is where
20:09Jesus asked him a question at that moment. And this is where we are
20:15today in today's world. Jesus said, does this offend you? And this question offends
20:21a lot of people. When you start talking to people about who God is,
20:26who Jesus is, some get offended, but you do it in love.
20:34People are offended at the name of Jesus. People are offended that
20:39Jesus is the name of God. And when he asked him, does
20:45this offend you? He then said, what if you saw the Son
20:51of Man ascend back up to where he came from? And the
20:57Bible says from that time, many of his disciples went back and
21:02walked with him no more. And that's where we are sometimes when
21:08people start seeing the truth and start seeing for what it is.
21:14They start to turn and to walk away. They just leave it there and
21:20walk away from it. But they said that they turned and walked no more
21:26with him. But then Jesus turned to his 12. And this breaks my heart
21:32every time I read it, because I can just imagine him saying it to
21:38one of us. He said, will you go away also? And do you remember
21:44what Peter said? He said, Lord, where would we go? You alone have the
21:49words to eternal life. There's nowhere else for us.
21:58And the disciples at this time, they were in this process of getting
22:04this revelation of who he truly was. And they gradually began to see
22:10who he was. And the Bible says the Jews gathered around him to
22:16stone him. And they asked, tell us if you are the Messiah. And
22:22he answered, I have told you and you believe not. But my sheep
22:27hear my voice and I know them. So if we truly want to
22:33know who he is, He will reveal it to us. But
22:39if you're getting into it just to debate who we are or
22:45what we believe, you will not see it. And Jesus asked them,
22:51why do you stone me? And they said, it's not for the
22:57good works that we stone you, because you, being a man, you
23:03make yourself God. And it's what people say to us. That's a
23:09hard thing to hear. You're saying Jesus is God. Now I want
23:14to take us to a place called Caesarea Philippi. which
23:20I had the privilege of visiting several years ago. I think you can see that
23:26pretty well. So Caesarea Philippi was a Greco-Roman city. It was in the northern part
23:32of Israel. And Jesus and his disciples were passing through this area. And all this
23:38was taking place about halfway through his ministry. And up to this point, the disciples,
23:44they've seen him. They've seen his, heard his teachings. They've seen his miracles, right?
23:50And they came to this place, Caesarea Philippi, also known as the
23:56Gates of Hell. And here they would practice pagan worship, and pagan
24:02worship was worshiping many gods, worshiping whatever. And it was here that
24:08they would sacrifice, offer sacrifices to these gods. They would sacrifice animals,
24:13and some accounts say they would sacrifice humans and babies. And...
24:20If you can see here where this these are modern day pictures and this is
24:26a depiction of back in the day when Jesus and his disciples were passing through.
24:31And this was a picture that I actually took myself. But this cave here is
24:36where that temple is. And this cave is where they would they would put the
24:42sacrifices. And back then it was it was flowing with water through this through this
24:47area and they would offer these sacrifices there. And if the sacrifices disappeared and
24:53they saw them no more, then the gods received their sacrifice. If blood appeared
24:59back into the cave, they were rejected. But it was here they were worshipping
25:05many gods, they were worshipping dead gods. And this area here is also called
25:11a gate to the underworld, hence the name Gates of Hell. And we're
25:17familiar with that term that we'll read here in just a moment. But this is
25:22Caesarea Philippi where Jesus and his disciples, they were passing in this area. And this
25:27is what was happening back in that day. So it makes sense more when you
25:33read the verse, when you know what was happening back then. So the verse that
25:38we read at the beginning, we're going to expound it just a moment. Matthew 16,
25:44verses 13 through 19 says,
25:50When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who
25:56do men say that I, the Son of Man, am? So they said, Some say
26:01John the Baptist, some Elijah, others Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. And he said
26:07to them, But who do you say that I am? And then Simon Peter answered
26:13and said, You are the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God. And
26:18at that moment, Peter was realizing who Jesus really was. And
26:24Jesus answered to Peter and said, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood
26:30has not revealed this to you, but my father who is in heaven. And it
26:35was a divine revelation that happened to Peter at that moment of who Jesus really
26:41was. And I also say to you that you are Peter. This is where his
26:46name changed. And on this rock, I will build my church and the gates of
26:52hell. shall not prevail against it and you're standing here at the gates of hell
26:57and he's telling him this will not prevail against it and then he told him
27:03and i will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven and whatever you
27:08bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you lose on the earth
27:13will be loosed in heaven does anybody know what those keys that he gave peter
27:18are peter gave us those keys on the day of pentecost when he preached the
27:24first message of the church in acts 2 38 repentance baptism in jesus
27:30name and the gift of the holy ghost those are the keys that
27:36jesus gave to peter and when he preached that message he unlocked the
27:42kingdom of god to all of us to jews to gentiles amen so
27:48i ask you tonight i'm closing i'm not a long-winded person i try
27:54to be but i'm i've given up i that's not me but tonight
28:00i want to ask you a question of who do you say that
28:06he is He wants to know who he
28:12is to you. And this question still lingers on from when he asked it
28:17that day at Caesarea Philippi. Who do you say that I am? Kevin, he's
28:23asking you, who do you say that he is? April, who do you say
28:29that he is? He's asking every one of us. Don't worry about what the
28:35others say. Because as soon as he asked that question of who are they
28:41saying that I am, he wanted to know who you specifically say that he
28:46is. Is he just another teacher? Just another radical historical
28:52figure. Is he the God of your life? Is
28:57he your savior? And have you received the Holy
29:03Ghost? Are you able to call him Lord? The
29:08Bible says by the Holy Ghost, no man can
29:14call him Lord. Let's all stand. Abraham said that
29:19he is our provider. Hagar said he's the God
29:25that sees. David said he was his shepherd and
29:31protector. And Gideon said he was his peace. Isaiah
29:36said he was the Holy One of Israel.
29:43And Hannah said he is the Lord of hosts. Samuel said he
29:49is the God who hears. And Peter called him the Messiah. Thomas
29:54called him his Lord and his God. John called him the Alpha
30:00and the Omega. And who are we talking about? Jesus. Jesus is
30:06God. It's one of the greatest love stories that will ever be
30:12told. But I want to tell you who he has been to
30:17me. He has been my hope when I've been hopeless.
30:23He's been my peace when I've been in turmoil. He's been my rest
30:29when I've been restless. He is my joy when I've been sad. He's
30:35been my comfort when I've experienced loneliness. He's been my strength when I
30:41was weak. And he is my God and my King. And his name
30:47is Jesus. Are you thankful to know him tonight? And every one of
30:53us are in a process. It doesn't matter if you're in before Christ
30:59in your life or after Christ in your life. We're all in a
31:04process. You know, the process that I'm in now, you may
31:10have been there 10 years ago and vice versa. And it was the same
31:16way even throughout the Bible. It was a progressive revelation of who God was
31:22over time, that when the fullness of time came, he came down himself, never
31:28abdicating his throne. He came down and revealed to us who he is, his
31:34name. And some of us are in the spot of we're seeing who he
31:39is. we're seeking for the holy ghost we're learning more of who he is some
31:45of us have received the holy ghost and still learning who he is just like
31:50in the bible when they started seeing who he was they experienced things in life
31:54we experience things in our life and we start seeing him for who he is
31:59but it's sometimes it's a progressive revelation that we learn and some of the things
32:04that we see and that we experience we can then turn and give it to
32:09someone else but tonight i'm going to ask if we can all come to the
32:13altar And we're going to do a little bit different thing tonight.
32:19There's a song and I played it for my Bible study group. And every time
32:25I hear it, it just it strikes me in the heart. But it's beautiful. And
32:31just find someone to pray for. If you see someone that needs prayer, pray for
32:37them. If you need prayer and no one is praying for you, reach over and
32:43ask someone to pray for you. We're not beyond that because we all need him.
32:50And tonight the Lord, the Holy Ghost, Jesus, He's asking us, who do you say
32:56that I am? Who is He to you? Who do you need Him to be
33:02to you? Do you know Him as your Savior? Do you know Him as the
33:07one that has pulled you a mighty long way? Do you know Him as the
33:13one that is keeping you, that's going to keep you until He returns? He is
33:19a good God, and He is faithful. But he's asking. He's not asking who's out
33:24there. He's asking every one of us in here tonight. Who do you say that
33:28I am? If you need the Holy Ghost, ask him for the Holy Ghost. Seek
33:33for the Holy Ghost. Pray for the Holy Ghost. He gives it, but there's a
33:37part that we have to do as well. Love on him. Tell him how much
33:42he means to you. And I'm going to ask the media to play this song.
33:46And then Brother Austin, after it ends, if you just go into something. Lord,
33:51we love you, Jesus. We thank

41:55feel you tonight, Jesus. We know who you are, Lord. I pray right now, Lord,
42:00that this revelation, Lord, doesn't only stay here, Lord, but it flows through our workplaces,
42:05flows through our family. God, this world needs you, Lord. We're nothing without the name
42:10of Jesus. We're nothing without you, Jesus. We know that there is power in your
42:15name, Lord. We thank you, God. We thank you, Jesus, for moments like this that
42:21we feel your presence, Lord. We magnify you, Jesus. You're worthy, God. Thank you, Jesus.

42:32foot into an altar or church service, I'm reminded of how grateful I am that
42:38I know the name of Jesus. That when I get a bad report, I have
42:44his name. that I can call upon and he answers. And there's testimonies all across
42:50this room that I can relate and say, thank you, Jesus, for loving me. Amen.

43:01us. It's not only what we believe, but it's who we are. And that when
43:07we leave this place, people see Jesus in us. That's how we're going to reach
43:12this world. That's how we conquer evil, is calling on the name of Jesus. And
