Summary
Pastor Elms delivers a sobering yet hopeful message on the necessity of preaching the 'bad news' of hell to appreciate the 'good news' of salvation, emphasizing that God provides deliverance and a personal harvest to those who approach Him in due order.
Key points
- •The harsh reality of hell-defined by the 'worm that dieth not' and unquenchable fire-is the necessary backdrop to understanding the greatness of the Gospel.
- •God requires 'due order' in worship, meaning believers must approach Him with reverence and according to His Word rather than relying on modern technology or personal preferences.
- •A 'Kairos' moment is a divine appointment where heaven meets earth, offering strength and deliverance to those who have none left.
- •The power of Jesus Christ is capable of providing complete deliverance from addictions, generational trauma, and secret sins, transforming 'train wrecks' into trophies of grace.
- •Persistence in well-doing leads to a personal 'due season' of reaping, provided the believer does not faint or give up.

This week, stop making excuses for 'weaknesses' and call them what they are before God. Bring your struggles to the altar in 'due order,' starting with repentance and thanksgiving, trusting that He will meet you in your lack of strength.
Reflection questions
- In what areas of my life have I been trying to 'move the Ark' on a 'new wagon' of my own making instead of following God's due order?
- How does the sobering reality of eternal judgment change the way I view my own worship and the urgency of the Gospel?
- Am I currently in a season of weariness, and how can I rely on God's strength to ensure I do not 'faint' before my harvest comes?

0:00it and I might not catch it, but we all
0:00know together we're in the word of God.
0:00Sometimes the thing about this gospel
0:02preaching that we do is that we forget
0:04there's a reason we tell the good news.
0:06The good news is good.
0:08But, there's a reason why many people do
0:10not get all that desperate about getting
0:12the good news and that's because the
0:14church has failed in her duty of
0:18preluding the good news with the bad
0:20news.
0:21And if you don't get the bad news, if
0:24you don't know how bad the bad news is,
0:26then you won't know how good the good
0:29news is. And Jesus gave the bad news
0:33more than he gave the good news. It
0:35seems as if the appetite of this culture
0:38is more to hear about heaven. And
0:40whenever a preacher speaks about hell,
0:43certainly they write him off as a
0:44hellfire and damnation preacher. He's
0:47one of those. But, Jesus happened to be
0:51one of those. He talked twice as much
0:54about a place called hell as he did a
0:57place called heaven. In fact, he went to
1:00the greatest extent to tell it like
1:02this. He said, "It will be a place where
1:05the worm will never die. You will have a
1:08bed of worm
1:10blanket of maggots when you go to hell.
1:12And it will be a place where the worm,
1:14no matter how much you hate them and
1:17despise them, they will not die." He
1:20said, "If your foot offends you, it
1:23would be better if if you would cut it
1:25off. Offends you doesn't mean what you
1:26and I think it means. It means if your
1:28foot is the reason why you're on your
1:30way to hell." He said, "It would be
1:32better if you would cut your foot off
1:34than to go into hell where the fire is
1:37not quenched,
1:38the worm dieth not, and the fire is not
1:41quenched."
1:42Then he said, "If your eye is the thing
1:45that's causing you problems, it would be
1:47better for you if you would pluck your
1:49eye out and enter into heaven with one
1:53eye than to go to hell with both eyes."
1:57And that should have been enough, but it
1:58wasn't enough for Jesus. He said, "Where
2:01the fire is not quenched, where the worm
2:03dieth not, and the fire is not
2:05quenched." I know some are ready to tune
2:07me out because I'm a hellfire preacher.
2:10You don't know why I worship the way I
2:12worship until you understand what hell
2:15is. You will never understand the reason
2:18I will stand up here and praise, not for
2:20you to see me, but for him to see me
2:23unless you understand the reality of
2:26hell. Hell is a place. Hell is fire, not
2:31figurative fire, not metaphorical fire.
2:35It's forever fire. And so, Jesus talked
2:38about the eye and he talked about the
2:40foot. You would think he was done by
2:42now. We're all bored with this subject
2:45already. But, Jesus said, "If it's your
2:48hand that's causing you to walk away
2:51from the Lord, it would be better if you
2:53would cut your hand off and go into
2:56life" and this was the word he chose,
2:58"maimed."
3:01You almost have to be a Shakespearean uh
3:03uh literature doctor to know what maimed
3:05means.
3:07But, it would be better for YOU TO GO TO
3:09HEAVEN with one hand than to go to hell
3:12with both hands. And then, as if he
3:15wasn't finished, as if he didn't have
3:18other options of what to say, he said,
3:20"Where the fire is not quenched, where
3:22the worm dieth not, where the fire is
3:24not quenched." So,
3:26I asked my grandmother who died at 97,
3:28faithful living for God, a wonderful
3:31woman of God. I'll never forget it. She
3:33was probably 95 at the age when I was
3:35interviewing her and I said, "Grandma,
3:38tell me, why is it that you want to
3:41serve God after all these years?" And
3:43she told me, she said, "David, it may
3:45not be the popular thing to say, it may
3:48not be what everybody wants to hear, but
3:51I want to tell you why I still serve the
3:53Lord because I don't want to go to
3:55hell."
3:57I know we're so numb to it, everybody's
4:00telling everybody else to go there.
4:10Where the fire is not quenched,
4:14where the worm does not die,
4:16where the fire is not quenched.
4:17Somebody's going to go there today.
4:20No, it's not a place you go in 10 years,
4:22it's not a place you go in 15 years.
4:24It's a place where you go as soon as you
4:27die. Everybody says, "Well, I saw the
4:28light. Was going to the light." Don't
4:30tell me you're going to the light and
4:31not going to hell.
4:33Everybody who goes to the light doesn't
4:35mean they're going to heaven.
4:36You know what you do before you go to
4:38hell? You go meet your maker.
4:41Everybody goes to the light. It's not
4:43impressive to me somebody said, "I died
4:45and I went to the light." Well, we do.
4:47Everybody's going to the light, but the
4:49Bible said that there are angels
4:50equipped that when you have gone into
4:54his presence unrighteous, unholy,
4:57ungodly,
4:58uncovered sins, selfish living, guess
5:02what he has? Angels. I didn't make this
5:04up.
5:06It's just this cute Bible everybody
5:08quotes when they get in trouble. It also
5:10says this,
5:11that angels are going to be there.
5:14And he's going to take people,
5:16people,
5:17and those angels are going to
5:19toss them
5:21into a lake
5:23of fire.
5:25So,
5:27good afternoon.
5:32So, you want to know why we praise the
5:34Lord the way we praise the Lord?
5:36Why when this altar praise, if no one
5:38else wants to pray, I'm still going to
5:39pray?
5:40Why when this place opens, there's many
5:42of you that no one will ever be able to
5:44stop from coming up to this altar to
5:46talk to the Lord? Oh, the black carpet's
5:48not the holy carpet. It's just the
5:50understanding that I'm making a move.
5:53I'm not sitting in my stuff.
5:56I refuse to be static in my
5:58understanding of who he is and what he's
6:02done. So, people don't like God, so they
6:05just vote him off the island. You're
6:06still going to face him.
6:09You say, "Well, I'm going to pick a
6:10different God." You still have to face
6:12the only almighty, all powerful God.
6:17I don't care if you prayed to Muhammad
6:19your whole life, you're going to still
6:21meet Muhammad's God.
6:24I don't care if you prayed to Lucifer
6:26your whole life, you're going to meet
6:28Lucifer's God.
6:30Because every knee is going to bow of
6:32the things in heaven, of the things on
6:33earth, of the things under THE EARTH.
6:35AND EVERY TONGUE, Lucifer's tongue,
6:38Hitler's tongue, KHOMEINI'S TONGUE,
6:40TRUMP'S TONGUE, BIDEN'S TONGUE, KAMALA'S
6:43TONGUE, EVERYBODY'S TONGUE IS GOING TO
6:45CONFESS. DAVID ELMS' TONGUE, JESUS.
6:50>> [cheering]
6:55>> SEE, SEE, SEE, SEE. Sin is what our
6:58society doesn't want to talk about.
7:02This generation doesn't like the word
7:03sin.
7:05It's just old-fashioned. It's for those
7:07old-time religion people.
7:09Now, it's just errors. Maybe it's just a
7:11misjudgment.
7:13It's a weakness. It's not sin, it's just
7:15a weakness. I got a little weakness.
7:18Let me tell you something. It's not a
7:19weakness, it's sin.
7:21You say, "Well, it's psychological
7:23maladjustment."
7:25It's just a stumble forward.
7:27We don't call
7:28a woman now that's
7:30a harlot a harlot. No, she's a woman of
7:33the night.
7:34We don't call them a prostitute, it's
7:36just a call girl.
7:37We don't call them thieves anymore, we
7:39just call them embezzlers and
7:40fraudsters. No, they're thieves.
7:44We don't call them drunkards anymore, we
7:45just call them an alcoholic. No, the
7:47Bible calls them a drunkard.
7:49You're a drunkard.
7:51You're like a dog returning to its own
7:52vomit. Oh, brother Rams, you're not
7:54being very sensitive right now. Well,
7:55listen.
7:57I've got a good story.
7:59I'm about to get to the good story.
8:01But until you know the bad part of the
8:03bad story, you're not going to
8:04understand why this church is so fired
8:08up about walking into his presence and
8:11saying, "He is my king. He is my
8:14redeemer. He is my God."
8:18They don't want you to call him a
8:19pedophile anymore, it's just a minor
8:22attracted person.
8:25No, it's sin.
8:27It's a sinner.
8:30Uh true story, I grew up in Charlotte
8:32and some of the people I went to school
8:33with did not travel. And of course, I
8:35was back in the days of the ark, and so
8:37that's the reason there was some like
8:38that in Charlotte. But I went to school
8:40with some people who had never seen the
8:42ocean. Literally, in Charlotte, it was
8:43like a 3-hour drive from Charlotte, but
8:45for whatever the state of their life is,
8:47they had never seen the ocean. Melanie
8:49grew up in Denver, Colorado, and I know
8:51half that city's never seen the ocean.
8:54Okay. You know, there's people She's
8:56She's upset that some of y'all have
8:57never seen snow.
9:05But this this this is a true story. One
9:06of the guys that had never seen the
9:08ocean, a friend of his said, "I'm taking
9:09you in." He had lived near the Pacific,
9:11so they took him to the Pacific Ocean.
9:13And when he got to the ocean, they sat
9:14there and stared at it just a little
9:15while, and he asked his friend after a
9:17while, he said, "Well, what do you
9:19think?"
9:20His friend said,
9:23"Well, it's not as big as I thought it
9:24would be."
9:29You know,
9:31it was just a matter of perspective.
9:35And and the thing that I want to tell
9:37you, I just spent a long time talking
9:38about hell, and I'm going to spend a lot
9:41more time, hopefully, talking about
9:42heaven. But I want to tell you right
9:44now, whatever you think of hell,
9:47it's a lot more than you think it is.
9:49And whatever you think about heaven,
9:51it's a lot better than what you think it
9:53is. Because your best perspective is a
9:55limited perspective.
9:57And what I want to say about when I
9:59shout and sing and rejoice about heaven,
10:01and yes, I pray with fear, but I also
10:04pray with reverence. It's not terror
10:07that makes me praise God. It's not fear,
10:09it's the fear of the Lord, and that word
10:11is doubled used in a in it's sort of a
10:13double-jointed word in our culture, but
10:15the Bible word for fear is deep
10:17reverence. When I worship him, when I
10:20lift my hands like that, the Bible says
10:22that he enjoys the hands being raised
10:25unto him. So, that's why I lift my
10:27hands. It says, "Oh, clap your hands,
10:28all you people." And so, I like he he
10:31inspires me to clap my hands, and I do
10:33that. And and I will shout. Sometimes
10:35I'll dance. Don't Don't watch me, cuz
10:37you ought to be dancing when I'm
10:38dancing. See, so that that's the way it
10:39is. But here here's the point. The point
10:42is this, pardon me.
10:44It's better than you think it is.
10:48It's more glorious than you think it is.
10:50And hell is hotter than you think it is.
10:54And it's worse than you think it is.
10:57It's a place you absolutely don't want
11:00to go. Tuesday night I preached about
11:02how the Lord was going to bring many
11:04children into glory. But it's a prophecy
11:07about Jesus in the book of Psalm, and
11:09one of the things that describes the
11:11wedding of the Lord to his bride, and
11:13the statement that was so stunning
11:15that's still moving me, is where the
11:17Bible says, speaking of Jesus, who's the
11:19bridegroom, that he had gladness, this
11:22is King James, all right? Gladness above
11:25his fellows. Which that's just
11:26modern-day language saying he was the
11:28happiest person in the room.
11:32When I got married, I'm sure I was the
11:33happiest man in the room.
11:36Okay. My wife asked me to do all kinds
11:38of crazy things, and she asked me to
11:40sing a solo. That was back when she
11:42requested for me to sing.
11:43But uh now I request myself. But uh
11:47she asked me to sing a solo to a song at
11:51my wedding.
11:52And uh yes, yes.
11:56Listen. Listen, Linda.
11:58Listen.
12:00I'm one of the better singers you'll
12:01ever hear, but on that day, I was
12:04distracted by higher thoughts.
12:10So, when it came time for my words,
12:13I couldn't think of them. My bride was
12:15soloing with me.
12:17She was not my bride yet, but it was
12:18about to happen.
12:21And I couldn't remember those words, so
12:23I just stood UP THERE SMILING.
12:26>> [screaming]
12:30>> LISTEN, I IMMEDIATELY TURNED IT into a
12:32star-studded song.
12:36And now, listen. You hear that next
12:38Sunday,
12:39which what time does it start next
12:41Sunday?
12:4210:00. It's casual Sunday, and there's
12:44going to be bounce houses, there's going
12:45to be tacos, there's going to be food.
12:48And then there's this interesting
12:49acquisition that showed up in the
12:51office, and I was asking the
12:52administrator and the executive pastors
12:54they sat with me in our annual Monday
12:56meeting. It's annual.
12:58Every week.
13:02And they told me we've got dunk tank
13:04coming.
13:06And No, no, no, you be quiet.
13:09And I said, "Okay, I know how this
13:11works. So, who asked for the dunk tank?"
13:13Your Your Your wife.
13:17So, I was sitting in my assigned seat
13:20today, and she was sitting in her
13:21assigned seat today, and I looked up at
13:24her and I said, "So, who's going on that
13:27tank?"
13:31And we've come a long way since March
13:3331st 1989.
13:38She said, "You are."
13:42Isn't it nice to know that I'm not in
13:44submission?
13:50The Bible doesn't say husbands be in
13:52submission to your wives.
13:57I'm going TO PREACH THAT BIBLE WHETHER
13:58YOU LIKE IT OR NOT.
14:08SO, the one who ordered it will be the
14:09one sitting on the tank.
14:13Let's see how that works out. How about
14:15them apples?
14:17The whole church will be there for that.
14:22Here's Here's my point.
14:23That day I got married, I was the
14:25happiest guy in the room. But here's the
14:26difference.
14:27I didn't have anything really to give my
14:29bride. You know what I was taking her
14:31to?
14:32A 1980
14:351 Ford F250
14:39with a gray camper top and green
14:41windows.
14:44With red velour seats and a cigarette
14:46burn in the seat.
14:49I had The hubcaps were not nice yet. I
14:52was about to go to the the dump and get
14:55some good ones.
14:57Okay. Not the dump. What it was the
14:59junkyard, that's right. I was going to
15:01the junkyard and get some good ones.
15:03And then I decided I would be very
15:05creative. I was going to tint my
15:06windows. So, you know how you tint those
15:08green windows on a camper? You go to
15:10Walmart and you get some of that real
15:13dark black spray
15:15paint, and you get on the inside of that
15:17truck, and you spray paint it black, and
15:20it's the cheapest tint you'll ever have.
15:22You can't see any way out of it, and
15:24everybody thinks the windows are black.
15:32It was a F250 diesel.
15:35So, when you put started the key up, you
15:37had to wait for the light to go on. You
15:38had that
15:40cuz the engine had to warm up. That was
15:42what I was bringing my wife to. Her home
15:45was a 28-ft pull-behind trailer.
15:48That's what I had to give her. But when
15:51I tell you at the marriage supper of the
15:53lamb, that the happiest man in the room
15:57is going to be the Lord Jesus Christ,
16:00and you're going to THINK
16:02THAT HE'S HAPPY BECAUSE OF THE CITY
16:04YOU'RE WALKING in and the banquet you're
16:06sitting AT AND THE CELEBRATION OF WHAT
16:09YOU'RE SEEING, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING
16:13YET. BECAUSE WHAT HE'S HAPPY ABOUT IS
16:16NOT JUST THE FIRST DAY, IT'S THE
16:1910,000TH DAY, AND IT'S THE 10 MILLIONTH
16:22DAY, AND IT'S THE 10 TRILLIONTH YEAR.
16:25YOU DON'T KNOW JUST HOW GOOD IT IS.
16:32And he said it's going to be called a
16:33harvest. He called it a harvest. The
16:36whole thing was a harvest. And the thing
16:39about our text that you read, not not
16:41often do I read from three dis-
16:43different texts, but today you could see
16:45a pattern if you were paying attention.
16:48You could understand that there were
16:49three phrases that were pointed out in
16:52each word that was started with the word
16:55due. Not D E W, not D O, but D U E. Due
17:02means something is coming
17:05your way.
17:07Your
17:08due.
17:10And he talked about how in his kingdom
17:14there is a due order,
17:17there is a due time, and there's a due
17:20season.
17:21What [snorts] does this mean? Is it just
17:23me playing quick and fast with words?
17:26No, the first text is a description of
17:28David taking the ark from Shilo to
17:32Jerusalem. And David is impressed with
17:36all the power that God has given to him.
17:39But his number one duty was to make sure
17:42he was going to build God a house that
17:45was worthy of the glory and
17:48of his ark. And so, he sits with his
17:51counselors and decides, "Well, we've got
17:53some amazing wagon builders. They've got
17:56new suspension systems, tremendous
17:59technology, and besides that, the
18:01artistry of what we can make a wagon
18:04look like. What we will do is we will
18:08get the most phenomenal wagon builder in
18:10all the kingdom, and we will demonstrate
18:13the great, amazing oxen that can pull
18:18these wagons. And we will do it with all
18:20kinds of pomp and circumstance. It will
18:22be the most efficient and the most
18:24effective way to demonstrate the
18:26advancing of our kingdom by putting the
18:30ark, this golden box of the glory of
18:33God, on a new wagon." That word new has
18:38nuance in it. It speaks of many layers
18:41of inventiveness and creativity and
18:44glory and beauty, a new wagon. And so,
18:48here they are, on the way from Shilo to
18:51Jerusalem. It's the dream of David's
18:53life, but on his way, one of his dear
18:56friends noticed that the jostling of the
18:58new wagon caused
19:01the ark to start sliding, this golden,
19:05heavy box sliding towards the edge of
19:07the wagon. And so, Uzzah decides,
19:11"Before that thing falls, I'm going to
19:13stop it." And he reaches it up, reaches
19:16up, and like a man being tased,
19:19something struck him. His toes pointed
19:22out straight, and he fell to the ground.
19:25HIS EYES ROLLED BACK IN HIS HEAD. HIS
19:28JAW LOCKED, and everything gone from
19:31him. Not alive, dead. They ran up to
19:35find out if they could revive him. There
19:37was no REVIVING HIM. A BODY, A CARCASS
19:40OF WHAT WAS laying on THE GROUND.
19:43SOMEBODY FEELING FOR A PULSE, NOTHING
19:45THERE. SOMEBODY GETTING HIM, SLAPPING IN
19:48HIS FACE, AND PUSHING ON HIS STERNUM.
19:50"COME ON, UZZAH, WAKE UP." NOTHING, JUST
19:54A CARCASS.
19:55Legs that flop and hands THAT GO AND
19:58EYES THAT WON'T FOCUS ON ANYTHING. IF
20:01YOU'VE ever ran around a dead body,
20:03you'll never be the same again. Other
20:05than one IN A CASKET, THAT'S NOT DEAD,
20:08THAT'S ALL FIXED UP, pretending like
20:10THEY'RE ALIVE. YOU'VE GOT TO SEE THEM
20:12LIKE THEY REALLY ARE. UZZAH WAS THAT
20:14WAY.
20:16AND SO, DAVID, WHO loved Uzzah,
20:19said, "We got to stop.
20:21Whatever we do,
20:23I got to stop." It took him months, but
20:25he went back to the word, and he
20:27discovered that there was some problems
20:29with the way he had moved this ark. That
20:32even though he had his own technological
20:34advances, his own expressions of beauty,
20:38there was an order that God demanded for
20:41his righteousness to move by. "My ark
20:44will not move on any of your
20:46technologies. It will only move on
20:49staves, long poles that are put through
20:52hoops, and they will be carried on the
20:55shoulders of the Levites, sanctified
20:58men, and that's the only way my ark is
21:01supposed to move." And so, WHILE DAVID
21:04THOUGHT GOD WILL BE IMPRESSED WITH MY
21:07APPROACH, God said, "No, no, no." And
21:10the Bible said in our text, "There what
21:13the for because you did not do it right
21:16at first, the Lord our God made a breach
21:20upon us for that we sought him not after
21:25the due
21:26order." We thought we could create our
21:28own way to have church. We thought we
21:31would do it in our own measure,
21:32according to our own goodness, according
21:34to our own approach. We knew the
21:36advancements of technology, we knew we
21:38could let a little smoke machine go and
21:40that would look like glory. We knew we
21:42could have colored lights and it would
21:44make people think there's atmosphere in
21:45the place. We knew we could have
21:47presentation systems and people be wowed
21:49at our graphics. And God was saying,
21:51"Oh, no, no, no, no. If you enter into
21:53my gates, you got to enter into my gates
21:55with Thanksgiving. And if you're going
21:57to enter into my courts, you're going to
21:58have to enter into my courts with
22:00praise. I don't care about any smoke
22:02machine, I don't care about any colored
22:04lights, I don't care about any podcast,
22:06I don't care about any online viewing, I
22:09don't care about any of the things that
22:10you call church. I'm not impressed with
22:13your technology. If you want to come to
22:15me, you got to come to me." Some of us
22:17think that when we come to God, the
22:18first thing we ought to do is tell him
22:20what we need. "Oh Lord, give me that
22:21bonus. Give me that bonus." BUT THE LORD
22:24SAYS there's an order to his approach,
22:26and either you can DO IT ON YOUR WAGONS,
22:28OR YOU CAN DO it on his way. And his WAY
22:30SAYS, "IF YOU WANT TO COME TO ME IN DUE
22:34ORDER, THEN YOU WILL HAVE ACCESS TO ME.
22:38BUT IF YOU THINK THAT YOU CAN CREATE A
22:40NEW BRAND OF WORSHIP, YOUR OWN APPROACH
22:43OF HOLINESS, YOUR OWN WAY TO GET TO
22:46GODLINESS, THEN GUESS WHAT? IT WILL NOT
22:48BE DUE ORDER, and it may be a long ways
22:51between your Shilo and your Jerusalem.
22:54But I promise you, God's going to move
22:56one day and show you there is a due
22:59order. That's why at this church, we're
23:02not better than anybody else. We're not
23:04higher than anybody else. We're also not
23:06lower than anybody else. But there's one
23:08thing you're going to find when you walk
23:10through these doors. If you came to this
23:12church in 1992, when my wife was ON THE
23:15ORGAN AND I WAS ON THE DRUMS, AND I WAS
23:17really singing and solos back then, and
23:19we were living in a little classroom in
23:22the back of that warehouse, or if you
23:23came to this church today, there's going
23:26to be one thing that has happened at the
23:27beginning of every service. There's
23:29always been Thanksgiving, and there's
23:32always been praise. IF YOU BACKSLIDE AND
23:34NEVER COME TO CHURCH EVER AGAIN, AND
23:37YOU'RE WONDERING 30 years what's
23:39happening at the CATHEDRAL OF PENTECOST,
23:42WRITE IT DOWN [screaming]
23:43THAT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING? IT'S
23:45THE SAME OLD THING. I'VE BEEN DOING IT,
23:50AND I'M GOING TO KEEP DOING IT BECAUSE
23:52THERE'S DUE ORDER. OH LORD, WHO SHALL
23:56ASCEND THE HILL OF THE LORD? HE THAT
23:59HAVE CLEAN HANDS AND A PURE HEART, WHO
24:01HAS NOT BEEN DECEITFUL, WHO HAS NOT
24:04GIVEN FALSE WITNESS. Oh Lord,
24:07accept my approach. Accept my praise.
24:11The second thing that the Lord said, if
24:14you want to come to him, he said in
24:16Romans 5:6, "For when we were yet
24:17without strength, in due time God died,
24:21Christ died for the ungodly." That word
24:25time, in due time, it is not the word,
24:29and I'm not trying to be fancy here, but
24:31there are two words for time in the
24:32Greek. One is chronos, and the other is
24:35kairos. And the New Testament was
24:37written in Greek. Chronos is the time
24:40that's on this watch. It keeps with
24:42hands and second hands, that's chronos.
24:45Kairos is not determined by this. Kairos
24:49is an event that has both a mixture of
24:52earth and divinity. If you've ever been
24:55in a kairos moment, you know it.
24:58If you were there
24:59when it was that moment, you can say, "I
25:02was there
25:04when it happened." It was not just time.
25:07It wasn't like punching a a clock and
25:10saying, "Yes, I've clocked in." No, it's
25:13a moment when it goes to where you know
25:15divinity has encountered your steps.
25:19It's an appointed time. It's when heaven
25:21meets earth. It's not something that
25:24makes you by measure. It makes you
25:27because you have been in his presence.
25:30IT'S PACKED WITH DIVINE PROMISE. IT'S AN
25:33APPOINTMENT ON GOD'S DIVINE CALENDAR,
25:36and some of you, today is that day.
25:39Today is a kairos moment for you. I know
25:43life can be out of whack, enduring many
25:46setbacks, making many mistakes. Your
25:49world can be so filled with tangles, a
25:52puzzle that you can't find certain
25:54pieces, always crushed by setbacks. It
25:58seems as if every road you've taken
26:00ended up a road to nowhere. And you get
26:03to a place where your strength is gone.
26:07For when
26:08we were yet without strength,
26:12in due time, [laughter]
26:14Christ died
26:16for that kairos
26:18moment.
26:20You have
26:21a kairos moment.
26:24A divine
26:26moment, more than one,
26:28that you're GOING TO KNOW GOD
26:29[screaming] GOT ME THERE,
26:31AND I KNEW HE he met
26:34me there. Listen to me. I pastor people,
26:37if I told the backstory of so many
26:40people sitting out here, most of you
26:42would absolutely be blown away because
26:45you think nobody really knows where you
26:47came from. And it's not my duty or my
26:50story to tell. But I'm honored to know
26:54the dark places that people come through
26:57in this church. I pastor people who
27:00don't know their father, never met their
27:02father. I pastor people here whose
27:05mother was such an alcoholic that all
27:08their life they had to put their mother
27:10to bed. And when their mother would wake
27:12up, she would come in and beat on them
27:15because they went to church. I pastor
27:17people who spent years in the
27:19penitentiary. I pastor people WHO KNOW
27:22THE BACKSIDE OF THE BROWARD JAIL. I
27:25PASTOR PEOPLE that have BEEN IN THE
27:27LOWEST PLACES OF ADDICTION IN THE
27:30FARTHEST DARKEST DANCE HALLS OF
27:33INIQUITY. I pastor people who have been
27:36walking the dark streets in the midnight
27:38hour. I pastor people who have had their
27:41children murdered. I pastor people who
27:44have had their children taken. I pastor
27:47people whose parents have been nothing
27:50but pain in their life. LISTEN TO ME.
27:53LISTEN TO ME.
27:55IF I TOOK YOU TO A train wreck today
27:59and I pointed it out to you
28:01and I said, "I want to show you a train
28:03today."
28:04And I showed you a train wreck. I want
28:07to ask you, would I be showing you a
28:09train?
28:16I wouldn't be showing you a train.
28:19I'd be showing you a train wreck.
28:22And this world has been so
28:24filled with hell
28:26that so many people don't even know what
28:29living life
28:30in a non-wrecked
28:32way
28:33is.
28:34They don't even know that there are men
28:37that never touched a drop of alcohol and
28:40never touched touched a cigarette and
28:43they've always been true to one woman
28:45their whole life. They don't even know
28:46that that can exist. That most of the
28:49Christians they've been exposed to will
28:51smoke pot all week and act like they're
28:53saved all Sunday. They know people that
28:56say they're saved and they're LIVING IN
28:58A FORNICATION AND YET THEY GET UP AND
29:01clap like they're like everybody else.
29:03AND SO THEIR PERCEPTION OF CHRISTIANITY
29:06IS EVERYBODY'S A TRAIN WRECK.
29:10BUT THIS IS NOT A CHURCH
29:13THAT KEEPS PEOPLE IN WRECKED CONDITIONS.
29:18WE'RE NOT HERE TO QUOTE SOME POETRY TO
29:21YOU.
29:22BUT I COME IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST
29:28AND I TELL YOU HE SET ME FREE.
29:33>> [cheering]
29:42>> SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO LIVE LIFE
29:45WITHOUT A CRUTCH. AND EVERYBODY THEY'VE
29:48EVER KNOWN THAT LIVED FOR GOD, EVEN
29:50THOSE THAT SAID THEY WERE IN THE CHURCH,
29:53lived for God WITH A CRUTCH. IT WAS A
29:56CRUTCH HERE OR A CRUTCH THERE, but it
29:57was a little sin that they excused. They
30:00don't even know that the Lord can reach
30:03down and grab you in the lowest place
30:06and pull you up. There are great men of
30:10God in this church that are not staring
30:14at pornography, that are not taking
30:16drugs. They don't have a secret hit of
30:18vodka hidden in the back of their
30:20closet. They have all week long been a
30:24mouth filled with praise. They haven't
30:26stared after any lust of the flesh. They
30:29have WALKED IN RIGHTEOUSNESS AND THEY
30:31DID IT with joy. They weren't bored.
30:34THEY WERE FILLED WITH JOY. WOMEN, THERE
30:37ARE SOME MEN IN THIS WORLD THAT ARE
30:39AMAZING MEN OF GOD. AND YOU KNOW WHY
30:42THEY'RE MEN OF GOD? BECAUSE THE LORD
30:45DOESN'T SAVE YOU AND LEAVE YOU IN THE
30:48DIRT. GOD SAVES YOU AND WITH A MIGHTY
30:51HAND HE SET ME FREE. YES, HE SET ME
30:56FREE. HE BROKE
31:01HE BROKE THE BONDS OF PRISON FOR ME. I'M
31:05GLORY BOUND MY JESUS TO SEE.
31:15I've had people come up here and put a
31:17whole pack of cigarettes on this altar
31:19and leave to never TOUCH ANOTHER
31:22CIGARETTE. WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT? I'M
31:24TALKING ABOUT A GOD WHO SETS YOU FREE.
31:27NOTHING HAS POWER OVER YOU WHEN YOU'VE
31:30GOT THE POWER OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS. I'M
31:33talking about power. I'm talking about
31:35Holy GHOST POWER. I'M TALKING ABOUT
31:37DELIVERING POWER. I'M TALKING ABOUT
31:39DEVIL KILLING POWER. I'M TALKING ABOUT
31:41HELL CONQUERING POWER. I'M TALKING ABOUT
31:44HOLY GHOST POWER.
32:06>> [snorts]
32:13>> PARDON ME IF I'VE EMBARRASSED YOU.
32:16Pardon me
32:17if I'm too emotional.
32:19This is not about emotion, folks.
32:22This is about alignment.
32:24It's about understanding what he did
32:25when he went to Calvary.
32:27He had to see something you and I've
32:28never seen before.
32:30For him to let another man spit on his
32:32face like that.
32:33For him to let them take his beard
32:36and pull it out.
32:37For them to stand there
32:39while he was blindfolded.
32:41SOMEBODY WALK UP AND BAM!
32:43If you're the Christ
32:46tell us who hit you.
32:48>> [sighs]
32:49>> No man WOULD LET ANYBODY DO THAT TO HIM.
32:53THAT WAS HALF OF A MAN.
32:57UNLESS HE SEEN SOMETHING
32:59THAT HE didn't want anybody to go to.
33:02He didn't go to the cross because it was
33:03fun.
33:05He didn't put up with that because it
33:07was fun.
33:08He saw the hell
33:10that tried to put its claws in you.
33:12And he said, "That's not what I made him
33:13for.
33:14They were made to be winners.
33:17They were made to be conquerors.
33:19They were made to be free.
33:21They were made to be joyful. I'm talking
33:23about full of joy.
33:25It is joy
33:26unspeakable
33:28and full of glory. There's no high that
33:31can touch the high you get when you're
33:33in the presence of the Lord.
33:35There's no joy.
33:40You remember
33:41they promised all kinds of joy but LEFT
33:43YOU HANGING.
33:45>> [screaming]
33:46>> I'M PREACHING A JESUS WHO SETS FREE
33:49TODAY AND IN DUE SEASON. If due if due
33:53time WHILE WE WERE YET WITHOUT STRENGTH.
33:56You say, "I don't have the strength to
33:58pray pray, pastor." You don't have to
34:00have strength to pray. While you were
34:02without strength
34:03in due time. He's got a kairos moment
34:06waiting on you. It's got your name on
34:08it.
34:09It's not a chronos, it's a kairos. It's
34:11a God-given moment. You may have no
34:13strength, but are you in order? Are you
34:16coming to him in in our order? Lord, I
34:18want to repent. I know I'm a sinner. I
34:21know it's me, oh Lord. I'm not going to
34:22blame my daddy. I'm not blaming my
34:24mother. I'm not blaming the neighborhood
34:27I live in. I'm not blaming that was
34:29adopted and adopted and adopted and
34:31adopted and adopted and adopted. I've
34:34got people in this church that THEIR
34:36ENTIRE LIFE THEY WENT from home to home
34:38to home. None of them would keep them.
34:41What are they talking about? They found
34:42somebody that will keep them.
34:44His name
34:46is Jesus.
34:47And now
34:49they have hope.
34:50They have hope sister Helms come.
34:52They have hope today.
34:57HALLELUJAH!
35:06FOR SUCH A TIME
35:08>> [snorts]
35:08>> A kairos moment.
35:10A time
35:12that's got your name on it.
35:14It's not described by words.
35:17It's a moment where you just go ooh.
35:23You know I'm a pop pop.
35:26And that means I'm a grandfather.
35:31And my
35:32every one of my grandchildren are
35:33special.
35:35Just a few moments ago
35:38brother Bowden was wanting to preach.
35:41Bowden
35:42Bowden, pop pop heard you.
35:45You were helping me preach. I get it.
35:47That's That's my boy right there.
35:50He's the cousin.
35:52Rome Avalon does something that just
35:53moves me.
35:55Little Rome Avalon Bonilla.
35:58What a girl What a girl.
36:00One of my favorite things that she does
36:03is she'll look at you.
36:05She'll stare.
36:06Then she about breaks her face with a
36:08smile. I mean
36:09it's just like I don't know how you get
36:11that big of a smile on that time of your
36:13face. It just
36:16And then she'll look at you.
36:18Like just like I'm going to have to
36:19remind her when she didn't have teeth
36:21what it was like.
36:22Here you are, Bowden. Baby
36:26But my favorite thing that she does
36:28right now
36:30she'll look at you.
36:32And she'll laugh.
36:34She'll just look at pop pop and go
36:40Just get caught.
36:42Uh-huh, talk to papa.
36:45You're a singer, he's a singer.
36:48She'll just look at you and go
36:52That's what it is when God delivers you.
36:58YOU'LL BE ALL BY YOURSELF DRIVING BY THE
37:01PLACE you used to buy the junk.
37:05And all of a sudden you realize
37:08that which [music] I was I am no more.
37:19This is what harvest looks like.
37:21It's when the HARVEST THAT WAS PLANNED
37:23AND PREPARED FOR YOU COMES YOUR way
37:25while you were without strength. And
37:27then the last one is in 6:9 of Genesis,
37:29I mean Galatians. And let us not be
37:32weary
37:34in well doing. Let's keep in due order
37:36and due time.
37:37Don't be weary in that,
37:39for in due season
37:43you shall reap
37:45if you
37:46faint not.
37:48Due season.
37:50>> [snorts]
37:50>> Due season. You know that word is
37:51personal. It's It's It's not a word
37:54that's for the collective. It's not a
37:56word that's for the congregation. It's
37:58not a word for the large church. In that
38:01word, which you can't see these things
38:03if you don't know the Greek, but in that
38:05word it is a personal you word.
38:09You
38:10shall reap
38:12if you faint not. WHY DID HE SAY THAT?
38:16Because he knows how often
38:19we're going to feel
38:20like he's not hearing us.
38:23We're going to feel
38:24like maybe my prayers
38:27are being wasted.
38:29And he said, "No,
38:31if you faint not
38:33in due season you shall reap." Shall we
38:36stand all over this building? I'm
38:37praying for you right now.
38:39We're going to about to open this altar.
38:41We're about to open this altar and
38:43there's deliverance in this house.
38:45The blood of Jesus
38:47has been shed for you.
38:49The reason we're celebrating
38:50Resurrection Sunday in 2 weeks
38:53>> [music]
38:53>> is because there's power today.
38:56You don't have to wait till Easter to
38:58have your deliverance. No, right now.
39:02It doesn't have to be loud.
39:04It doesn't have to be any way you're
39:06afraid of it being.
39:08All you got to be is honest
39:10and come to him
39:12and repent. Say, "Lord, I'm not blaming
39:15my cousin for getting me hooked to this
39:18drug. I'm not blaming
39:20my daddy for every time he didn't show
39:23up. I'm not blaming my mother for just
39:26being an alcoholic my whole life, a
39:28drunkard as the Bible says. I'm not
39:30blaming them. I'm not blaming all of
39:33these things that I have to blame. I'm
39:36saying, "Oh Lord, it's me.
39:39I'm dealing with the man in the mirror.
39:41I'm dealing with me.
39:43I'm done making excuses,
39:45but I can't do it alone.
39:47I need your power.
39:49I need your power.
39:52Heal me.
39:54Oh, Jesus, in this house
39:57>> [music]
39:57>> are people from every kind, every place,
40:03homes of blessing, homes of cursing,
40:06homes of love and homes of hate,
40:09homes that were warm and homes that were
40:11cold, families that were nothing but
40:15wrecks
40:16and families that were filled with a lot
40:18of joy.
40:20But it matters not, oh Lord, hell hates
40:22us all just the same.
40:24And hell wants to destroy us all just
40:27the same.
40:28It's either world hurt or self hurt
40:31or church hurt,
40:33but all of it hurts.
40:35And we're coming to the healer
