Summary

Evangelist Mike Easter explores the biblical answer to the most important question anyone can ask: 'What must I do to be saved?' through the story of the Philippian jailer and the blueprint of Acts 2:38.

Key points
  • Salvation is the greatest human need and is a personal, non-negotiable requirement for eternal life.
  • Spiritual warfare is common when one decides to live for God; being saved requires tenacity and a willingness to fight the 'good fight.'
  • Praise is a powerful weapon that should be expressed loud and clear, regardless of circumstances surroundings, as seen in Paul and Silas's prison experience.
  • True salvation requires action: repentance (turning to God), baptism in Jesus' name for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  • God is interested in saving entire households; one person's obedience can lead to the salvation of their whole family.

Life application

This week, stop waiting for others' approval to deepen your walk with God. If you have not been baptized or filled with the Spirit, do not delay, but respond immediately to the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

Reflection questions
  1. What does a 'good fight' look like in your current spiritual life?
  2. How can you cultivate a praise that is loud enough for the 'prisoners' (the world around you) to hear?
  3. Is there any area of your life where you have been settled in a 'comfort zone' instead of being a 'lively stone'?
  4. Who in your household are you currently believing God to save?

0:00invite you to go with me to the word of the Lord.
0:04I'm going to go to the, what I consider the
0:09most dangerous book, the book of the Acts of the
0:15Apostles. It's a dangerous book, and I believe Satan hates
0:21this book more than any other, because it's in this
0:26book that holds the keys to eternal life. Acts chapter
0:3216, Acts chapter 16, we'll begin at verse 16.
0:3823 Acts chapter 16 in verse 23 and a beautiful
0:43thing about the Word of God it's a living word
0:49and if you're not careful the word that we're reading
0:54and jump off the pages right into your heart turn
1:00your world upside down the 16th chapter the book of
1:05Acts beginning in verse 23 and when they had laid
1:11many stripes upon them. Speaking of Paul and Silas,
1:17they cast them into prison, charging the jailer, keep
1:23them safely. Who haven't received such a charge? He
1:29thrust them in the inner prison and made their
1:35feet fast in the stocks. So much for keeping
1:41them safely. And at midnight, when it couldn't get
1:46any darker, Paul and Silas prayed and
1:52sang praises unto God and the prisoners heard
1:58them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake
2:04so that the foundations of the prison were
2:09shaken. And immediately, oh I love these adjectives,
2:15suddenly, immediately, all the doors were opened and
2:21some of them bands were loosed. everyone's
2:27bands were loosed and the keeper of the prison awakening out of his
2:32sleep seeing the prison doors open he drew out his sword and would
2:38have killed himself supposing that the prisoners had been fled but paul cried
2:43with a loud voice saying do thyself no harm for we are all
2:49here then he called for a light and he sprang in and came
2:55trembling And he fell down before Paul in silence.
3:00He brought them out and he said, sirs, what
3:06must I do to be saved? And they said,
3:11believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt
3:17be saved and thy house. See, God is not
3:22just interested in saving you. He wants to save
3:28all of your house. He wants to save your
3:34uncle, your auntie, your cousin, your grandmama, your husband, your wife,
3:39your niece, your nephew. God wants everybody. Hallelujah. So I want
3:45to take my title, if I may, from verse 30. They
3:51brought him out and said, sirs, what must I do to
3:56be saved? I believe out of all the various needs that's
4:02represented in this building, the greatest need of all. salvation
4:08let's pray together father in the mighty name of Jesus there is none like you
4:13and there's no greater time than right now father we invite you to move upon
4:19us breathe upon us speak to us Almighty God open our ears that we might
4:25hear open our hearts that we might receive and I pray Lord not one person
4:31will leave the same way they came in but we invite you to do what
4:36only you can do In the name of Jesus, and everyone say
4:42amen. Praise God. What must I do to be saved? God bless
4:48you, and you may be seated. What must I do to be
4:54saved? You notice he did not ask, what must I do to
5:00get ahead? He didn't ask, what must I do to be happy?
5:06Or what must I do to be blessed? Because you can
5:12have all those things and still be lost. The number one
5:17thing is salvation. Here in the book of Acts, the 16th
5:23chapter, we find the great apostle Paul and his sidekick, Salus.
5:28We find them in prison and not just any old prison.
5:34They were in what they call the inner prison. Some people
5:39refer to it as a dungeon. My question is, what
5:45did Paul and Silas do to deserve to be put in such
5:50a place as that? Where they were was a place that was
5:56reserved for the worst of the worst of criminals. But yet, Paul
6:02and Silas is chained up in the inner prison. What did they
6:07do? As I began to examine the scriptures, I can only find
6:13one reason. They were anointed. Sometimes that's all
6:19a person needs to do to get the
6:24devil's attention is to get anointed. That's all you have
6:30to do to have trouble from hell is to get your mind made up. I'm
6:35going to live for God. I'm going to live for God. I'm going to win
6:39souls. I'm going to teach Bible studies. I'm going to live holy. And when you
6:44make your mind up, I'm going to do what God tells me to do. It
6:48seems like all hell breaks loose. And it's interesting how some people, you know, out
6:54there in the world, it's rough. It's a struggle. Yeah, it can get really, really
6:59hard out there. Amen. And some folks get the idea, well, if I give my
7:03life to God, everything will be easy. Oh, no. Oh, no. Trouble's just getting started.
7:08How many know being saved is not for sissies? How many know being saved is
7:13not for crybabies? It's not for people that's easy to give up. It's warfare. It
7:18takes tenacity. It takes a determined heart. Hallelujah. I'm not going to move. I'm not
7:24going to break. I'm not going to compromise. I'm going to stay in this fight
7:30till the end. Somebody say, it's a fight. This thing is a fight. You're going
7:36to get the devil's attention. When you make up your mind, you're going to live
7:42for God. In fact, the great apostle Paul said, it's a good fight. It's a
7:48fight, but it's a different kind of fight. It's a good fight.
7:53Now, if you saw some joker been in a fight, you wouldn't have to
7:59have no guess about what it was. You can look at him and tell.
8:05Clothes all torn, scratches all on his face, lip busted, nose bleeding. You can
8:11tell when somebody been in a fight. But just by looking at him, you
8:16can't tell if that was a good fight or if that was a bad
8:22fight. Hey, man, what makes the difference? Here's the difference. In a bad fight,
8:28you lose. But in a good fight, it don't matter what you look
8:34like. You're on the winning side. You're going to win. You're going to
8:39come out of this thing. You're going to be victorious. Hallelujah. It's a
8:45good fight. Glory to God. Paul and Silas were fighting a good fight
8:50of faith. Paul preached the gospel and the devil got mad. They
8:56threw both of them in the inner prison. They fastened their feets
9:02to chains. They beat them and gave them strikes many times. Their
9:08lips were busted. Their eyes were swollen. Amen. But that didn't stop
9:14their praise. The Bible says Paul and Silas began to sing and
9:19began to praise God until all the prisoners heard them.
9:26Man, anybody can praise God when it's going good. Anybody can praise God when every
9:32duck is in order. But it takes a real man. It takes a real woman
9:38that can still praise him when your world is all messed up. It takes a
9:44real person to praise him when you don't feel like praising. It takes a real
9:50individual to stand and praise God when everything is going against you. Paul and Silas
9:55not only sang praises. But they sang and worshiped
10:01until all the prisoners heard them. Amen. Which
10:07tells me they weren't singing soft. They weren't
10:13praising quietly. Hallelujah. They sang so loud that
10:19all the prisoners could hear them praise Him.
10:25Oh, they weren't intimidated. They weren't embarrassed. They didn't care
10:31what nobody had to say. And if nobody prays with
10:37them, they gonna praise a man in the house. Cause
10:43you don't know like I know what the Lord has
10:49done for me. Hallelujah. Glory to God. Somebody say loud.
10:54God likes it loud. The Bible describes the church.
11:00All of us as members of the body of Christ. We
11:06are the house of the Lord. We are the tabernacle. We
11:11are the building. And the scripture describes each one of us.
11:17Glory to God. Amen. As what do you call it? A
11:23lively stone. You a lively stone. You a lively stone.
11:28All joint and fitly joined together. Lively stones. Some folks think
11:34it's tombstones. No, we are lively stones. In the Greek, that
11:40word lively means bouncy. You know what that means? If you
11:46got the Holy Ghost. You got something to bounce about. If
11:51you've been baptized in Jesus' name, you got something to bounce about.
11:57Hallelujah. Ain't no need to sit there all quiet and sophisticated and
12:03all that mess. God been too good for you, for you to
12:09just sit there. He wants some, he likes a hand clap. He
12:14likes a shout. He likes the dancing. He likes it loud. Glory,
12:20hallelujah. Praise God. All the prisoners heard them. Then the Bible
12:26says at the midnight hour. I wonder what time it is. Anybody know what
12:32time it is? What's that? I can't hear you. What time is it? It's
12:37high time. It's high time. If you're ever going to be a worshiper, it's
12:43high time. If you're ever going to break out your shell, it's high time.
12:48If you're ever going to believe the word, it's high time to do it
12:54right now. It's almost midnight. Jesus is on his way.
13:00the Bible says at midnight there was an earthquake.
13:05Somebody said that's Elvis. No, the jailhouse rock was
13:11long before Elvis. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Man, that earthquake came
13:16and it shook up everything and I'd be praying
13:22sometimes and Lord, you know what? I believe that's
13:27what we need. We need an earthquake and revival.
13:34We need a revival that'll shake everybody up that can be shaken. Some of y'all
13:39are too comfortable. Some of y'all are too used to being in the same chair,
13:44doing the same thing. But God, let the Holy Ghost come in here. Oh, let's
13:50shake something up in here. Let people back there move to the front. People over
13:55here, go this way. If you never clap, clap your hands. If you never shout,
14:00shout. If you never dance, dance. It's time to be shaken up. of
14:06our comfort zone glory hallelujah man God
14:12sent an Holy Ghost earthquake and the
14:18Bible says the doors were open and
14:24everybody everyone's bands were loose won't just
14:29Paula's house but everybody got loose and
14:35I often wonder what would that look
14:41like in a church like this everybody
14:50got loose hallelujah if everybody got liberty I mean every
14:55old person every teenager every visitor every guest in one
15:01service I wonder what would happen I wonder what would
15:06happen somebody I get healed somebody gonna get delivered somebody
15:11gonna get set free if we can get everybody
15:19And I've prayed and I've asked the Lord, I said, Lord, let me be
15:25in one service, please. Just one service when everybody say, you know what? We're
15:31going to do it today. We all going to do it today. All of
15:37our guests, come on. Y'all got to join in with us. Everybody is going
15:42to get it. And don't sit there and act like you've never done it.
15:48Y'all out in the world, smoking, drinking, going to clubs, getting all loose as
15:54a goose. Then when you come to the house of God,
16:01The devil is a liar. Hallelujah. If I did it for
16:07him, I can do it for the Lord. If I can
16:13dance for the devil, I can dance for the Lord. If
16:18I can get crazy with the devil, I can get crazy
16:24by my Jesus. Hallelujah. Oh, man. Some of y'all, I ain't
16:29gonna look at you. I ain't gonna look at them, Pastor.
16:35What would happen if we got in all one mind and
16:41in one accord? and got loosed. Hallelujah. Everyone's bands
16:46were loosed. And when that happened, the jailer woke up.
16:52I tell you, the Bible says it's time, high time.
16:57What time is it? It's high time to wake up
17:03out of the sleep. He said, Brother Easter, people is
17:09sleeping in the church, yea, verily. And some folks got
17:15so good at it, they can sleep with their eyes
17:20open. Sitting in the church
17:26with their minds somewhere else. Sitting in the church texting their friends.
17:32Sitting in the church being distracted. Oh yeah, we got some sleepy
17:38people. But the Holy Ghost says, wake up. Wake up. Wake up,
17:44brother. Wake up. Sister, wake up. Jesus is in the house. The
17:49miracle worker is in the house. Deliverance is in the house. It's
17:55time to shake it up. The jailer, he woke up. The
18:01jailer woke up. What's going on? That's what some people think when they come
18:07to church. What's going on? Man, everything is being knocked over. I'm going to
18:13tell you something. You ain't never been to a Pentecostal church until something got
18:18knocked over. Man, I remember those old Pentecostal services. Glory to God. Those people
18:24drunk. Amen. You ain't been to a Pentecostal church until you left here sweating.
18:30You ain't had church. You ain't had church until your hair got messed up
18:35or your necktie come unraveled. You ain't had church till you lost
18:41all your hairpin. You ain't been to church yet. I like
18:47those church services when everybody dismiss and folks straggling to get
18:53to their car. Are you okay? Can you drive? You under
18:59the influence? Verily, verily, verily. Glory, hallelujah. That's church right there.
19:05Man, that jailer woke up. He saw the dust. the
19:10dirt, stones knocked down, everything out of place, and the first
19:16thing he noticed, the doors were all open. He was like,
19:22"Uh-oh, I'm in trouble." 'Cause ain't nobody in their right mind
19:28is gonna stay in jail while the doors are open. They
19:34done gone. They done escaped. All these prisoners and those two
19:40guys. I'm in trouble. That jailer was like, I'm going to have to face
19:46the authorities and they're going to do something bad to me. And he knew how
19:51cruel they could be. So that jailer figured, well, if I'm going to leave this
19:56world, I'll take my own self out. It's the end of the road.
20:02Ain't no more hope for me. And he grabbed his sword and he was
20:08getting ready to do himself in. He held that sword up and he said,
20:14it's over. Goodbye, crew. And he got ready to pierce himself when he heard
20:20a voice. He heard a voice through the darkness. He heard a voice through
20:25the cloud and dust. And that voice said, do thyself no harm. We
20:31are all here. We ain't going nowhere. We are still here. And I tell you,
20:37brothers and sisters, that word of God is so awesome. It's so alive. When I
20:43was reading that part of the scriptures, I began to see the congregation. I began
20:48to see in a group this size, there's bound to be somebody that's saying, Lord,
20:54if I don't get something from you today, God, I tried over here
21:00and that didn't work. I tried this over there and that didn't work. And I'm
21:05so tired. I'm at the end of the road. And God, if you don't do
21:10something, I'm just going to turn it all in today. I'm just going to quit.
21:16But there's a voice. A voice coming down
21:21from heaven, talking to somebody here today. It's not over
21:26yet. Amen. It's not over yet. We are still here.
21:32The church of the living God is still here. It's
21:37still strong. It's still vibrant. It's still moving. Don't give
21:43up. Don't give up. We are still here. And I
21:48feel that. I feel that. Don't give up. Don't
21:54give up, young person. Don't give up. The church is still
22:00here. Hallelujah. That guard couldn't believe himself. He looked around. He
22:06said, oh, my, they're still here. And he reached over the
22:11wall and got a lamp. And he took that lamp. And
22:17the Bible says he sprang to that cell. He didn't walk
22:23in. What did he do? He probably never sprang before. But
22:29he sprang that day. He sprang into that prison
22:34cell. He looked at Paul and Silas, and he asked them the question, what must
22:40I do? No, no, no, no, no, no. He said, what? He said, what? Sirs!
22:46Oh, oh, oh, oh. It's sirs now. Yeah, now it's sirs. See, uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.
22:5230 minutes ago, we want nobody to hear. 30 minutes ago, we want none of
22:58us to know. 30 minutes ago, you would just had us on your schedule to
23:04get our heads chopped off. But now that God moved,
23:10it serves. Yeah. Yeah. Hallelujah. You have no idea who
23:15you sitting next to. You have no idea. You sitting
23:21next to royalty. You sitting next to a daughter of
23:26the king. We got royalty in the building. That's more
23:32than just regular folk. Hallelujah. We got royal blood runners.
23:37Hallelujah. Yes. Serves. Serves. What must I do? To be
23:43saved. And that's a loaded question. There's a lot in that question. More
23:49than you see on the surface. And I saw it in a different
23:55angle. He won't just ask him, sirs, what must I do to be
24:01saved? He was also saying this, sirs, what must I do to get
24:07what you got? There's something different about you. I can sense
24:13it. I can feel it. There's something unique about you. Whatever you have, I want
24:18it. And brothers and sisters, I don't know if it's written down as a sin
24:24or not, but it ought to be a sin. It really ought to be a
24:29sin for a Holy Ghost filled, baptized in Jesus' name, child of God to walk
24:35into this church with their face dragging the ground, their shoulders slumped down, looking like
24:40they've been sucking sour pickles all day. Why? Because people are watching you. People
24:46are looking at you. You are an open book known and read by all men.
24:50Folks are looking at you. You don't have to get up in the pulpit to
24:55preach. You preach by the way you live. You're preaching by the way you worship.
24:59You're preaching by the way you respond. People are looking at you. Folks are walking
25:04in this building and they want to know one thing. Do you believe what this
25:08man is preaching? Do you really believe Jesus is coming
25:14back again? Do you really believe, hear oh Israel, the Lord is one? Do you
25:19really believe that there is no other name under heaven? Folks are watching you. They
25:24are looking at you. They want to know. Do you believe it? Because if you
25:30believe it, you ought to act like it. You ought to act like it. That's
25:35why I tell folks, I say, don't take for granted what you got here. This
25:41presence and presence of God we feel every time we come together. Don't take that
25:45for granted. Don't get used to it. Sitting in church, man,
25:50loaded down with all your problems. Let me tell you something. There ain't no problem
25:56worth missing the rapture over. There ain't no problem holding back your praise over. There
26:02ain't no issue. Oh, Lord, have mercy. If I could just get somebody to understand
26:07this, you can still praise him. Amen. On the worst day of your life, you
26:13can still praise God. And God will do things in your life that you never
26:19experienced. Hallelujah. What must I do? To get what you got. I
26:24want what you got. Jesus said, you're the salt of the earth.
26:30Your presence ought to make people thirsty. You're the light of the
26:36world. People ought to look at you and see the joy of
26:42the Lord on your face. I want what you got. Hallelujah. And
26:48not only did he ask that question, that question is so powerful.
26:54Sirs, what must I do to be saved? When I look at
27:00the actual words, it's loaded. Let's examine it for a moment.
27:06What? See, this thing we talk about is a must. It's
27:12a must. No exceptions. No exception. Except you're born again, you
27:18can't see. You're blind. You'll never get understanding. You'll never get
27:24the wisdom that God has for you. You first must be
27:30born again. Folks, folks, they want to skip that, but they
27:36want to know the mysteries. They want to understand. I had somebody come
27:42to me at a church service one time after service and they said, I got
27:48a question. I said, what is it? Do you think the Antichrist is alive and
27:53well today? And I looked at them and said, wait a minute. Are you saved?
27:58Well, they ain't been baptized yet. They haven't been, they haven't been in chains yet.
28:04They haven't crossed over yet. Does it matter? Who the Antichrist is if
28:10you ain't saved in the first place. Come on, let's get first things first. Get
28:16this thing in order. Be born again first and God will open your eyes and
28:22you can see. You must. Somebody say must. There's no other way you can get
28:28into the kingdom. You can't work your way into the kingdom. You can't compare yourself
28:34to other people. I'm not as bad as her.
28:40I'm a good person by whose standard we all
28:45fall short of the glory of God. Everybody in
28:51this room needs his mercy. We all need his
28:56grace. We all need his forgiveness. No exclusion. We
29:02need to do this together. Hallelujah. You need
29:08me. I need you. I want you to pray for me.
29:14I'm going to pray for you. We got to do it
29:20together. Come on. I need you. Come on. Join with us.
29:25Let's go together. Let's go together. I don't see where I
29:31take all of that. That's your problem. You don't see. This
29:37is a must. No exceptions. What? Must. What's the next word?
29:43What must? What is it? Yeah, it's personal. It's personal.
29:50Amen. You have to make a decision. You must make a choice.
29:56What must I, not us, not we. This ain't a group thing.
30:02It's a personal thing. You got to get to the mindset that
30:08if I'm the only one, That will stand
30:13up for Jesus Forget about everybody else He's done so much for me I
30:19cannot tell it all You can count on me Lord I'll be the one
30:25that go to the front I'll be the one that'll get baptized I'll be
30:31the one that'll receive the Holy Ghost What you have for me I'll be
30:37the one What must I It's something you must decide It's not a group
30:43salvation and there have been times when i preached and the
30:48holy ghost is moving and people are responding to the spirit of god
30:54man let me tell you is that the lord calling that's the lord
31:00calling somebody the lord calling somebody let's give the lord a hand clap
31:06of praise the lord is calling you hello hallelujah and you need to
31:12answer that call folks be like man i understand what he's saying i
31:18know i'm not where i need to be and i do have some
31:24problems I need to do this. I need to get right
31:30with God. And there's some folks like, well, they look over at their
31:35friends and they say, are you going? Then the friends say, I'll go
31:41if you go. And I've seen some people lock on and come to
31:47the aisle in a big group. Hallelujah. Listen, if that's what it takes,
31:53good. But that is not what it take for me. I'm
31:59gonna go if nobody else go. I'm gonna make my reservation
32:04if nobody else make my reservation. I'm gonna get baptized if
32:10nobody else in the building get baptized. I'm sorry. It's something
32:15I must do. What must I do? And the last word
32:21is do. What must I do? And that's what makes people
32:26uncomfortable. because they're required to do something. Hallelujah. Some folks,
32:32they don't mind coming to church, but they don't want to do nothing.
32:38They don't mind sitting in the pew, sitting in the chair, listening to
32:43the preacher nodding their head and smiling, but don't ask me to do
32:49nothing. I don't like that kind of pressure. Preacher, don't pressure me. Man,
32:55I went to church, the whole service, he's staring at me. I ain't
33:01staring at you. That's the Holy Ghost making you feel uncomfortable. That's God
33:07staring at you. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Then you
33:12got people say, well, you know what? It don't take all that to
33:18be saved. You ain't got to do all that. God knows your heart.
33:24That ought to scare you because he knows you're hard-headed. He knows you're
33:29rebellious. He knows you're full of pride. Amen. This is a decision you
33:35got to make. Don't wait for your girlfriend. Amen. Don't wait for your
33:41boyfriend. Amen. God is calling you. Amen. This is something I must do.
33:47You got to do something. Somebody said, I thought salvation
33:52was free. It is free. But if you don't do nothing,
33:58it's going to cost you. Amen. You got to do something.
34:04He that believeth and is baptized. You got to do something.
34:10Shall be saved. Mark 16, 16. He that believeth not, don't
34:16do anything, shall be damned. Be saved or be damned, which
34:22be will you be? As for me and my house.
34:29I'm going to be saved. I'm going to be saved. I'm going to trust him.
34:34I'm going to believe him. I'm going to obey him, and it's going to start
34:39right now. I say it's going to start right now. You got to do something.
34:44You got to do something. That's the difference between religious people and people that are
34:49saved. You can be religious and still be lost. You can go to church and
34:54not miss a Sunday and still go to hell. And those kind of churches are
35:00packed because nothing's required of you. All you got to do is show up. Clap
35:05your hands. Amen. Hit the tambourine. That's all you got to do. You don't have
35:09to quit smoking. You don't have to quit fornicating. You don't have to quit going
35:14to the clubs. You don't have to quit running with the wrong crowd. Long as
35:19you come to church, you good. That's a lie. Hallelujah. If you're going
35:25to please God, you've got to live holy. You've got to live righteous. You've
35:31got to live separated from the world. The Holy Ghost will help you. The
35:37Holy Ghost will give you strength. The Holy Ghost will give you power. There's
35:43no other alternative. And it's something you must do. God is calling us to
35:49do something today. Somebody say today. Today. You know something I found out about
35:55today? Today is a very special day. Because today has never
36:00been here before. And guess what? Today will never
36:06come again. So you have no guarantees you're going
36:12to have another day like today. The Bible says
36:17today is the day of salvation. And right now
36:23is the accepted time. What must I do to
36:28be saved? The most important question. What must I
36:34do to be saved? The apostle answered the question and said, believe, believe.
36:40Amen. Folks be like, well, I believe it when I can understand it.
36:45That's not true. The Bible doesn't say he so ever understand. So who's
36:51ever believe it? Well, I can't believe it till I understand it. And
36:57now you're lying because you believe a lot of stuff you don't understand.
37:02You believe a lot of stuff you don't understand. If that's the way
37:08you are, don't you dare turn on the light switch till you can explain how
37:14all that works. You don't understand all that stuff, electricity and the current and all
37:20that kind of stuff. You don't understand that, but you believe you flip the switch,
37:25the light coming on. Don't you dare get in that car until you can explain
37:31how that car works. but you don't need to understand all that you
37:37just believe that when you crank it up it's gonna move you don't have to
37:43understand everything you just have to have a little bit of faith and say god
37:49if your word says it i believe it i'm gonna do it and watch god
37:54move watch the results watch the change come in your life somebody shout hallelujah glory
38:00to god what must i do i want to be saved I
38:06want my name in the Lamb's book of life. I want
38:12to spend eternity with God. Amen. One other place in the
38:17Bible, Acts chapter 2, verse number 37. We can put that
38:23on the screen. There's another place where they ask the question.
38:29Acts chapter 2 and verse 37. Hallelujah. Musicians, would you come
38:35at this time? When they heard this, they were pricked in
38:41their hearts. And he said to Peter and to the
38:47rest of the apostles, men and brethren, here it goes. Here comes that
38:52question. What shall we do? What shall we do? Hey, preacher, I'm not
38:58interested in being entertained. I'm not interested in how cool you dress and
39:04all your big words. I want to know one thing. What must I
39:09do to be saved? What shall I do? We got people loaded
39:15up in churches where they're constantly being entertained week after week after week. People love
39:21these preachers dressed down in their black robes and stripes on their arms and jerry
39:27curls and rings on their fingers. Y'all know what I'm talking about. Y'all been there.
39:33When the preacher get up in the pulpit and he puts on a show because
39:39everybody wants to see a show. Folks got their handkerchiefs ready to shine his shoes.
39:45Folks got their tamarins ready to shake it at the right time.
39:50Come on, preacher. Preach that word, preacher. That preacher
39:56get up there and goes, Oh, Lord, we can
40:02really have church now. Well, well, well, well, well,
40:07well, well. Then the guy jumps on the organ.
40:13The show was about to begin. He gets up
40:18there and say stuff that don't make no sense.
40:24Clothed in my right mind. And then he put
40:30his hand behind his ear. And folks go crazy. After service is over, man,
40:35we had church, man. Man, pastor preached. Brother pastor laid it down. What did
40:41he say? I don't know, but he had, well, we had church. If you
40:47want that, it's a dime a dozen. They're all over the place. Those churches
40:53are packed because they don't have to do nothing. But when you come here,
40:59we're not going to sugarcoat it. We're not going to try to make it
41:04easy for you to handle. We're going to preach it whether it
41:10blesses or whether it blisters. We're going to preach the truth. Shall we
41:16do? Verse number 38. Now, I hope you're listening real good, sir. Then
41:22Peter said unto them, the first thing you got to do, you got
41:28to repent. You have to make a decision. You got to make a
41:34conscious decision to turn around from where you were traveling and turn toward
41:40God. Turn away from false religion. Turn away from
41:46entertainment church. And turn to the truth of the gospel.
41:52Repent! Make a choice. "But Brother East, I tried to
41:57quit smoking. I can't. I tried to quit the drug.
42:03I got an addiction." The Lord told me years ago,
42:09tell them this. Do what you can do. I'll do
42:15what you can't do. All you need to do is
42:21turn. And then be baptized. Every one of you.
42:27Every one of you. That's the word of God. Every one of you.
42:32And when you get baptized, it must be done in the name of
42:38the Lord Jesus. Why? It's for the remission, the washing away, the evaporating,
42:44the blotting out of all your sins. All your sins. All that junk
42:50from the times you were old enough to know right from wrong. And
42:56you chose to do wrong. It's been recorded. And the wages
43:02of sin is death. Eternal separation. That's what you're facing. That's
43:08what you're carrying. But when you go down in the waters,
43:13all those records will be washed away. Born again. Then when
43:19we pull you out out of that water, the Bible says
43:24you rise up to walk in the newness of life. Old
43:30things are passed away. Behold, all things become. You have a
43:35new beginning. A new start. You have a new name. You have a
43:41new destination. You have a new purpose. And then the Lord promised that God will
43:47fill you with the Holy Ghost. That's the power. That's what's going to give you
43:52the power to live the way he wants you to live. He don't want you
43:58to do it by yourself. He's going to help you. He's going to help you.
44:04Amen. Verse number 39. Now this promise is to you and not just to you.
44:10It's to your children. And not just your children. All that are
44:16far off. What he said, your household. What you do not only
44:22affects you, but it affects so many other people around you. Even
44:28as many as the Lord our God shall call. But it starts
44:34with you. The next verse. The apostle Peter summed it up and
44:40said, save yourself. Save yourself. Don't wait
44:45for your friends. Don't wait for mama's permission. Don't wait
44:51for daddy's permission. Save yourself. And then verse 41, this
44:57is the last verse. Happens to be one of my
45:03favorites because it records their response just like God is
45:09recording you right now. Man, you mean to tell me
45:14I got to get baptized today? You don't got to
45:20do nothing. You have a privilege to be baptized. When
45:26they heard this, they that what's that word yeah you
45:32ought to see some of y'all faces I mean some of y'all like this
45:38is the greatest news you could ever hear holly you never heard nothing this
45:43good you never heard a promise this wonderful hallelujah this is ought to be
45:49something you ought to be glad about people be saying Lord leave me Lord
45:55Lord show me the way God I'll follow you and now he's shown it
46:01to you you ought to be glad watch this and they that gladly what's
46:06the next word Receive. You can't let this just bounce off of
46:12you. God is talking to you. He's talking to you. They received it.
46:18Yes, Lord, you got me. I received that. That's for me. That's for
46:23me. It's plain and it's simple. That's for me. I received it. And
46:29then those that gladly receive it, you know what? They did something. They
46:35did something. And you know what? You're going to do something too. Yes,
46:41you are. Oh, yes, you are. No, I'm not. Yes, you are.
46:48Can you make me? Oh, I don't have to make you because
46:54you're going to do something. You're either going to say yes or
47:00you're going to say no. That's where we are right now. They
47:06that gladly received his word, they were in the same day. Not
47:11next Sunday, not next week. Let me go home and Google it.
47:17None of that. The very same day that was added unto them.
47:23Somewhere in the number of about 3,000 souls. hey hey preacher that's
47:29me you're talking to me that's me put me in that number hey hey
47:35preacher where's i'm tired of the way my life been going i'm sick of
47:40the devil in my mind my mind and my spirit i know i'm not
47:46living right i don't want to go to hell i don't want to be
47:52lost count me in that number count me in that number that's all stand
47:57shall we i want to be in that number i want to be counted
48:03I want, I want to be saved. I want to make the right choice. And
48:09today while you still got a brain that works and a heart that's beating, when
48:15you still got a body that you can present before the Lord, this is your
48:20opportunity to do it right now. And so what I'm asking us to do, all
48:26of us, amen, that's ready to make a change, that wants to go a little
48:32deeper, that's sick of living the way you've been living, you've got the answer to
48:37the question. and now it's in your court anybody here that's tired of
48:43the devil in your life ruining your world if you're sick of it if
48:49you're ready for change and more than that if you're ready for your name
48:55to be written in the Lamb's Book of Life then I'm appealing to you
49:00right now step out from where you are And say, brother,
49:06I want to be baptized. I want to obey God. I want to
49:12be filled with the Spirit. I want to be saved. I'm talking to
49:18you right now. Would you come? Would you come? The devil says, wait.
49:24The devil says, you're not ready yet. The devil says, hold on. The
49:29devil says, you didn't come to church for this. I ask you, what
49:35did you come for? You come to hear some preacher preach a pretty
49:41sermon? You come to the wrong place. fighting
49:47for you. I'm standing in the gap for
49:53you. I know something maybe you don't know.
49:58Trust him. Respond to him. Jesus said, come,
50:04come, whosoever will, come unto me, all ye
50:10ends of the earth, and be ye saved.
50:17For those of you that got family members, because He wants to save the whole
50:23house. You got an aunt, an uncle, a cousin. You got grandparents. You got in-laws.
50:28You got brothers and sisters that are not saved. I'm going to invite you to
50:34come. I want you to take hold of that promise and say, Lord, not just
50:39me by myself, but God, my whole household, I believe. I believe.
50:44I
50:50believe
