Summary
Dr. Billy Hale explores how spiritual hearing is the gateway to God's blessings, emphasizing that God is a speaking God who desires to lead His people through the Word and the Holy Spirit. Through personal testimonies and biblical examples, he urges believers to sensitize their hearts to God's voice to receive direction, warning, and refreshment.
Key points
- •Hearing the voice of God is not a mystical anomaly but a natural result of being created in the image of a speaking God.
- •The 'Path to Blessing' is defined by a sensitivity and obedience to God's voice, often characterized in Scripture as an 'old path' found through diligence.
- •Spiritual sensitivity can provide warning and direction that surpasses natural perception, illustrated by how animals sensed the 2004 tsunami or how God directed the speaker to individuals in crisis.
- •We can sensitize our hearts to hear God better by spending quality time in the Word, through consistent prayer, and by surrounding ourselves with godly people.
- •There is a vital connection between the restoration of the Jewish nation and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Apostolic renewal), both being driven by the voice of God calling His people back.

Life application
Practice 'morning by morning' sensitivity this week by taking a few moments of quiet before you fully start your day to listen for God's direction for your steps. Priority should be given to obeying the first prompting you receive after reading Scripture.
Reflection questions
- Are there 'voices' in your life right now that are drowning out the quiet leadings of the Holy Spirit?
- Dr. Hale mentioned that humans are 'hardwired' to hear God. How does that shift your perspective on your ability to commune with Him?
- Can you recall a time when you felt a 'nudging' from God and either obeyed or ignored it? What was the outcome?
- How can we better use the Bible as the primary tool to 'hear' God's voice in our daily decisions?

0:00turn to the book of Exodus, 19th chapter today,
0:03and why don't you stand? Why don't you stand?
0:09Now please, if you will help me to enter
0:14into... spiritual place because this is a spiritual
0:20message today that I tried to preach a brand new sermon I
0:26brought it down here in case I was asked to preach I
0:32was prepared to do it and yesterday when I got up very
0:38early in the morning the Lord very quietly in my spirit said
0:43this is what I want you to preach So I
0:49know without a question today that someone here, the Lord, is going
0:55to address something that you have been asking him for, and I
1:01hope and pray that I can do the will of God. And
1:07Moses went up unto God, 19 chapter of Exodus, third verse. And
1:13the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt
1:19thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the
1:25children of Israel, "You have seen what I did unto the
1:30Egyptians, and how I bear you on eagles' wings, brought you
1:36unto myself. Now therefore, if..." Let me just mention to you
1:41this, the biggest little word in the English language is those
1:47two letters, "if." "Now therefore," he says, "if you will obey
1:53my voice, indeed." and keep my covenant, then you shall be
1:58a peculiar treasure unto me above all people, for all the earth
2:04is mine, and you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests
2:10and a holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak
2:16unto the children of Israel. And then turn into the book of
2:21Deuteronomy, chapter 28, the first two verses, and it shall come to
2:27pass, if Thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of
2:33the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments
2:39which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God shall
2:44set thee on high above all nations of the earth, and all
2:50these blessings. Now listen. He says all. All of these blessings shall
2:56come on thee and overtake thee if, Thou shall hearken
3:02unto the voice of the Lord thy God. God bless
3:07you. You may be seated today. My title of my
3:13message today is The Path to All of God's Blessings.
3:18The Path to All of God's Blessings. Now, use the
3:24word path because there's something different about a path. It's
3:29not a modern highway, noisy and crowded. It's not even a
3:35gravel road or a dirt road. It's not even a pasture lane. It's
3:41just a little trail that will take you to where you're to go.
3:47And when you look in the Bible, you will often see that the
3:53Lord's way is called a path. All through the scriptures, it's called the
3:59path of life in Psalm 16, verse 11. if thou will
4:04show me the path of life, in thy presence is fullness of
4:10joy, and at thy right hand are pleasures forevermore. Another place in
4:16the Bible that's called a plain path. And then when you look
4:22in Jeremiah chapter 6 verse 16, it says, Thus saith the Lord,
4:28stand you in the ways of and see and ask for
4:33the old paths. Where is the good way? And walk therein, and
4:39you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will
4:45not walk therein. So God's way is called an old path. He
4:50told us in another place, If in all our ways we acknowledge
4:56him, he will direct our paths. That's in Proverbs chapter 3 and
5:026. So it's not a highway. You would think to all
5:07of the blessings of God that it would be a highway. It suggests
5:13that there's only a few that's really going to walk this way. Proverbs
5:194, 18, something that I use as a prayer track, a little prayer
5:25track every day, and that is this, the path of the just is
5:32You can change the word just to the word righteous and not
5:37do violence to the scripture, so I use it. The path of
5:43the just is as a shining light that shineth more and more
5:48unto a perfect day. In my mind, this is what I do.
5:54I take a tabernacle. I take coming into the city. and
6:00coming through the Eastern Gate with praise and thanksgiving. And the
6:05first thing, of course, that I have to confront is the
6:11altar, the big altar, the brazen altar, where I deal with
6:17my errors and my sins and my rebellion. and I spend
6:22time talking to God about those kind of things, and then begin
6:28to make my way into the holy place, and then into the
6:34holy of holies. It's a path of the righteous, in my mind,
6:39that shines more and more unto a perfect day. Proverbs 3, 17,
6:45it is said of wisdom, that her ways are the ways
6:51of pleasantness and all her paths are peace. But the path
6:56to all of God's blessings, it's clearly stated, plainly stated, it's
7:02hearing the voice of God. And in God's economy, when you
7:07hear the voice of God, you really hear her, it's going
7:13to be that you are sensitive to that voice and you
7:19will obey that voice. Probably one of the most frequently asked questions
7:25that I have as an older man of God is how can
7:30I hear the voice of God? God made sure when you and
7:36I were created that we were hardwired. We were hardwired to hear
7:42his voice when he created us. Basically, when he made us,
7:48He built inside of us the ability to hear the voice
7:53of the Almighty. So it is natural, it's instinctive, that the
7:59sheep of God's pasture would hear the voice of the shepherd.
8:05Why would God create us with the ability to communicate one
8:10with another and not communicate with us? It's not, that doesn't
8:16make sense. Even in this upside down world that we live
8:22in, what separates us from the animal kingdom is that we
8:27are created by a speaking God in the image of a
8:33speaking God. Years ago, I was thinking about this. My
8:38earlier days of pastoring in Denver, building a church, how
8:44do you do it? So I set up a little
8:50model for my own life, and that was every week
8:55from Monday night until Wednesday morning was fast time for
9:01me. Getting prepared for the midweek service. And then
9:06at the end of the week, since we had two
9:12services on Sunday, I would spend Thursday night until Saturday
9:17evening fasting. Well, it was one of these times that
9:23I came home Saturday evening. My wife was cooking and
9:28getting me a good meal and I just was a little weak,
9:34so I lay on the bed for a little while, and suddenly the voice of
9:40the Lord came to me, and he said, there's a meeting taking place right now,
9:46and I want you at that meeting. He showed me who the people were. The
9:52only thing about it was I didn't know where it was. And so
9:58I rushed into the kitchen to tell my wife I've got to go to
10:04a meeting. She said, "Where are you going?" I said, "I don't know where
10:09I'm going. All I know is the Lord told me there's a meeting taking
10:15place and that I am to be at that meeting." So I knew that
10:21these people lived not too far from the church, so I headed toward the
10:27church at that time. And then as I was making my way
10:33on Dartmouth, which would take me to the church, I was slowly
10:38going, and the Lord told me when I came to Bannock Street,
10:44stop and turn left here. So I turned left, and I went
10:49about a block and a half. And the Lord said, stop. It's that
10:55house on the right I want you to go to. Now, you might not believe
11:01these kind of things, but the Lord was speaking to me. I went up to
11:07the house not knowing who or what to expect. Knocked on the door, and when
11:12the young lady opened the door, it happened to be the family of the person
11:18that was in our church. And I was shocked, and she was shocked, too.
11:24And she didn't know what in the world the pastor was doing, showing
11:30up on the Saturday evening. And I asked, I said, "Where's your dad?
11:35I need to talk with your dad." She said, "Brother Hale, my dad
11:41is in a car right there across the street with a man and
11:47in a meeting." "Okay." So I realized then that the man that he
11:53was meeting with did not believe in one God. He believed in three gods.
11:59So I knew what was taking place is that he was trying to woo
12:05the man out of our church. I go to the pastor's side and knock
12:11on the door and the man that was in my church, I had him
12:17to step out. And I began to talk to him and try to
12:22convince him that he needed to leave this man alone, that it was deception
12:28that this man was trying to pull him into. But the man was so
12:34captured by deception, he did not even, it didn't register on him at that
12:40time of the miracle that it took place that God had directed me to
12:46that particular place. And I lost that individual and he lost his
12:52walk with God and his family. And I don't know what all
12:58he ended up, I heard, being run over by a train sometime
13:03later and his children just went to pot. But the good
13:09news, folks, that I'm trying to get you today to
13:15see and to understand is that God is a speaking
13:21God and that God will speak to his people. How
13:27many wants to hear the voice of the Almighty? Well,
13:33years later, years later, I was... I had one of my
13:39men that was in a leadership position in our church. And I went
13:44to church. It was on Wednesday night, midweek service. And this man was
13:50missing. It was not right. There was something strange, something wrong that was
13:56taking place here. And I knew his wife was out of town and
14:01he didn't show up for church. that night and do the part
14:07that he was supposed to be a part of in that church service.
14:13And it just was so disturbing to me. After service was over with,
14:18I went home and sat in the chair in my bedroom and just
14:24kind of leaned back in my chair and here's the words that I
14:30heard the Lord speak, I believe, to me. Putney Street Pub.
14:36Well, what kind of a thing is that? I mean,
14:41Putney, P-U-T-N-E-Y, how often would you hear something like that?
14:47And it just kind of was repeating in my mind.
14:53So it was the days before cell phones. I went
14:59and got the telephone book. and looked up and sure
15:05enough there was a Putney Street pub that was in our
15:10city and it was on the back side of the mall
15:16and so I called them. I described this individual to them
15:22and told them what he was like and of course the
15:27bartender comes back and says he's not here. There's no one here like
15:33that. Well, he probably didn't even look. But I was so disturbed because of
15:39the stirring that was inside of me and what the Lord, I felt, had
15:45talked to me about. The voice of God in my head. And so
15:50the next day, it was probably the evening of the next day,
15:56I get a phone call, and it's this man that I was
16:02talking about. He said, Brother Hale. And when I heard his voice,
16:07it was just kind of a slur to it. It was not
16:13very clear. I called his name. And I said, "Were you at
16:19the Putney Street pub last night?" And he couldn't get his breath. It
16:25was so quiet he could not even breathe hardly. Finally, in a just
16:30above a whisper, he said, "Brother Hale, how did you know? How did
16:36you know?" I said, "I just want to tell you, you were not
16:42by yourself." And I can tell you that. I'm telling this church this
16:48because this man repented. He repented in such a measure because of the voice
16:54of God that would come to his shepherd and try to reach for him
17:00and pull him back. This man many years later was so greatly used
17:05of God in our own movement that I could tell you more and you
17:11would understand. But what I'm telling this church is the Lord wants to speak
17:17to everyone that's in this house. I have felt it when I was
17:22praying that God wants to come to every one of us, but we need
17:28to sensitize our spiritual senses. How many wants that to happen? Would you lift
17:34your hands and ask God to speak to you right now that you would
17:40be led of the Spirit of God, amen, directed by the Holy Ghost in
17:46the name of Jesus Christ. In December
17:5126, 2004, there was a tsunami earthquake
17:57that hit the Indian Ocean. Maybe you
18:02remember this. 227,000 people died that day.
18:08It was estimated to have released energy
18:13that's equivalent to 23,000 atomic bombs. I
18:19looked this up just, I believe, this morning, how
18:24many people were killed at Hiroshima with just one
18:30atomic bomb. And they said upwards of 140,000 people
18:36died in Hiroshima. And yet this earthquake was equal
18:41in energy to 23,000 of those kind of bombs
18:47The only reason more people were not killed was because
18:53the earthquake happened 31 miles below the floor of the
18:59ocean, 31 miles. There was waves that Wikipedia says that
19:05reached 100 feet high that began to destroy and take
19:11out buildings and people. It killed 227,898 people in
19:1714 countries. It's the deadliest disaster, they say, of
19:23the 21st century. And they say it could very
19:28well be the very deadliest earthquake in all of
19:34history. The fault rupture that took place was about
19:40780 miles long. It was such a powerful
19:46thing that happened that the entire planet vibrated.
19:51The entire planet of the earth vibrated for
19:5710 solid minutes and triggered earthquakes as far
20:02away as Alaska. It actually changed the planet's rotation
20:08for a moment. Why were so many people killed? It
20:13was because they had no warning. They had no warning.
20:20The thing that was remarkable about it all was the scarcity when
20:25they began to gather the bodies of the people that had been
20:31killed. The scarcity of animal carcasses was so notable. What it was
20:36was that there was a sound going out. There was a signal.
20:42There was a warning that took place, and the animals went to
20:48higher ground. What happens, my friend, was there was a call, but
20:53people did not hear the call of God and understand what had
20:59taken place. I wish that somehow I could preach a message. I
21:05wish somehow I could convey to all of us here that there
21:11comes times throughout the day when there is a visitation of the
21:17Almighty God to everybody that claims to be an apostolic, Holy Ghost-filled
21:22person where God will visit every one of us. How about us
21:28lifting our hands right now and let's give God thanksgiving for the Lord
21:34taking up time to come to where we are. I thank God on this
21:40Sunday that I have already felt and heard the voice of the Lord speaking
21:46to us today in the name of Jesus Christ. Could it be the Lord
21:51would like to get us ready for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
21:57and the second coming in the name of Jesus? Clap your hands and let's
22:03praise Him in the name of Jesus.
22:09John 12 and 28 and 29, Jesus predicting his own
22:15death, said, Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a
22:21voice from heaven saying, I have both glorified it and
22:26will glorify it again. Verse 29, the people therefore that
22:32stood by and heard it Some said that it thundered. Others
22:37said, no, no, no, an angel has spoken to him. People around,
22:43many of them did not know what the voice of God sounded
22:49like. Oh, Lord, help me to hear what the Spirit is saying
22:55to the church in this last hour. I want to hear. I don't
23:01want to come to church. I don't want to even pray without hearing what God
23:06has got to say to me because something the Lord is doing and speaking to
23:12us is preparing us for great things. If he's not coming soon, there's some things
23:18God wants the church to know. I want to be in on what he's got
23:23planned for this last hour. How about you? How about you
23:29in the house today? Okay, last week I
23:35spoke about my cochlear implant and the night
23:41that I was violently awakened by my wife.
23:47And I told you how courageous I was.
23:53I took that double stack 9mm and racked
23:59it. And then I told my wife, go
24:05see what's going on. I covered her. But
24:11I couldn't hear her. If you've had
24:17pets in your house, you've seen them perk up because they hear
24:22something. We've tried to calm ours down and say, oh, it's nothing,
24:28but it was. It was because they can hear above the ability
24:34of human beings. Often that happens in our life with the Lord.
24:40God speaks to his people. He said, my sheep hear my voice.
24:46Amen. There's a lot of voices that's out there. Amen. A
24:52lot of voices, but if we get close to God, we get
24:58close to the Word of God, we get close in prayer with
25:04God, we surround ourselves with godly people, we're going to be able
25:09to know what God is speaking in this hour. Amen. In the
25:15natural, we do have our limits. I'm told that the human hearing
25:21can hear 20 hertz. The lowest that we hear is
25:2720 hertz, whatever that means. And the highest that we can
25:33hear is 20,000 hertz. Anything below 20 hertz is called infrasonic.
25:38We've got subwoofers at our church. If you come up close
25:44to our platform and the music is playing, These things
25:50can get so low and jar you so much, they'll give you
25:56a chiropractic adjustment with just the sound. Amen. It just booms out.
26:02You can feel the sound that's coming out of them. And I
26:08do know that there's a lot of animals that uses infrasonic sound
26:14in communication, one with another. The whales, for instance. But...
26:20There is something called ultrasonic sound. That's the high end
26:25that humans can't hear what animals hear. A dog, I
26:31understand, can hear 45,000 hertz. And a cat, I don't
26:37like cats, but a cat can hear 64,000 hertz. Amen.
26:43Oh, my. We had a man in our church we
26:49prayed through. He was blind. He would come to church
26:54with his white cane and Ken would not, he wouldn't sit in
27:00the back. He would sit on the front seat and he would
27:06bring his C&I dog and back him up underneath that seat and
27:11sit down. But the music would play. People would start worshiping God
27:17and Ken would start dancing. He had never seen anybody dance. Elder
27:23Brother Urshan, our general superintendent, was sitting next to me one night and
27:28he was to preach. And I just leaned over to him and I
27:34said, Brother Urshan, this man down here has never seen anybody worship and
27:39dance. But he navigated life just by sound. And that's how he was
27:45able to make it because he wanted to worship God so much he
27:51would dance and dance all around and then reach back and try to
27:57grab hold of the chair there to find his way back. Oh
28:02Jesus, help us today. I want to talk to you just
28:08a moment about how to hear. This is out of my
28:14own personal experience. And the Bible speaks about God will speak
28:20to you morning by morning. God speaks, he says, morning by
28:26morning. Just before you wake fully awake. And in the book
28:32of Solomon, it talks about, I sleep, but my heart wakes. Before
28:37your mind can start moving and start ordering your steps that day,
28:43in between that full consciousness, and you can hear the voice of
28:49God. God will speak to you. I hate to tell this, but
28:55I will today. for the benefit of showing you what can happen,
29:01and it did happen. I was invited to join a group of men
29:06to make a lot of money. I had to invest a lot, but
29:12there was going to be incredible dividends. And at the time, we were
29:18so desperate for finances, and so I got involved in this. And my
29:24two brother-in-laws, they were a part of this as well. And, of course, they
29:29wanted my opinion on it. And so we decided we would get involved in
29:35this situation. And then I told them I've got to go home and do
29:41a little praying here and see if this is something that I need to
29:47get involved with. Well, when I went home and prayed a couple of days,
29:52I woke up one morning and I heard the voice of God said, have nothing
29:58to do with this. Have nothing to do with this. It's a scam. And
30:04so I told my brother-in-law, "You all go ahead if you want to, but I'm
30:10not going to be a part of what's going on." "Oh no," they said, "if
30:16you're not, we're not." Well, it turned out to be a horrible scam. And the
30:22Lord saved me from getting involved and losing some money. And just, I believe it
30:28was last year, folks, I'm 82 years old, I've seen and I've
30:33been through some things. I've been through some battles and
30:39some wars and it just, I can't explain some things
30:44to you today like I want to. But last year,
30:50I mean, here I am 81 at the time, learning
30:55things of God. I look back and see what caused this. It's
31:01that in the little country church that I was raised in, I thank
31:07God for the church. I really do. It had its ups and downs,
31:12and more downs probably than up, but there were some things that I
31:18did learn as a child. But in that church, there was many of
31:24my family, cousins and so on, and they lived one way. And when
31:30they came to church, you would think they were the greatest Christians in
31:36the world. But I knew what they lived when they went back into
31:41the world, and it was just a fake. It was a counterfeit. and
31:47in my mind's eye, I believe even me, I told the Lord, Lord, I
31:53never want to get like that. When I'm in the church, I want to
31:59be in everything. I want to be 100% in the church, and I don't
32:05want to be a hypocrite. So this kind of I feel like it
32:10affected my getting in church at an early age because my thought was I have
32:16to be perfect to get the Holy Ghost. It's such a holy thing that I'd
32:22have to be perfect for it to come into my life. And as hard as
32:27I would try, there would be no way in the world I could reach that
32:33stage of perfection. And so I would cry and pray and go to
32:39the altar. But even I could hear myself sometime speaking in tongues. But
32:44because it was not this dynamic lightning and thunder and everything else that
32:50I'd heard other people talk about their experience, I would not accept it.
32:56And then, of course, last year, I got to the place of desperation
33:02in my prayer. And I was trying to convince God, "God, I'm
33:08telling you the truth as if God didn't know. I'm telling you
33:14the truth." And I began to try to explain to the Lord.
33:19And finally, I just blurted out, I just finally got tired of
33:25all this, and I just blurted out, "The Lord, my words is
33:31who I am!" And the Lord said, "Son, My words is
33:37who I am. And I thought, you're right, Lord. I can take
33:42your word and I can read your word. and I can
33:48actually pray your word and it becomes my word. And I
33:54finally told them, I said, "Lord, let my words be your
33:59words, your words be my words, and let our words come
34:05together and let me pray the word of the Lord and
34:11hear what the word of God and the voice of God
34:16has to say." Come on, let's praise Him. Everybody, let's praise
34:22Him. So quickly now, As I move toward a close,
34:28I want to take you a little bit to history, just to
34:33look at history. One of the reasons why this is so vital
34:39and so important is because no one really believed that the Jews
34:45would ever come back to their homeland. So there was a movement
34:50after the Civil War. Of course, America was in one of the
34:56most horrible, chaotic times in its history. But there was a
35:02movement that was called the primitive Christianity. These people, after the
35:07Civil War, believed that God was the same yesterday, today, and
35:13forever. They believed that the Bible was infallible, and they believed
35:18it was inerrant. They believed it was the eternal Word of
35:24God. Maybe you don't know this, but one of our early presidents of
35:30the United States was Thomas Jefferson. And he took the Bible and pulled out
35:36of the Bible all the miracles that was there and edited the Bible. And
35:42he called it Jefferson's Bible of Moral Code. And the reason why
35:47he did it, because he thought these things will never happen again.
35:53No miracles and nothing with Israel and all of that. But the
35:59move toward primitive Christianity really meant that there was a desire to
36:05go back to the apostolic world. doctrine and apostolic renewal and
36:11apostolic pattern. This terrible state of chaos and change that America
36:16was in gave birth to what is known in history as
36:22the Holiness Movement. In this movement there was no racial barriers,
36:28there was no gender barriers, there was no social barriers. The
36:33open arms of this movement drew everybody that was oppressed for so long,
36:39and it was something that was stirring their hearts. Can you hear me
36:45okay? Amen. But out of this holiness movement, Bible schools began
36:51to pop up all over America, started all over our country.
36:57They were very strict in their standards, holiness standards of modesty
37:02and dress all over the United States. these Bible schools began to be
37:08started they were all praying from what I am told they were all
37:14praying for that book of Acts experience and the mighty outpouring of the
37:20Spirit of God well listen now at that same time the Jews in
37:25different parts of the world they had been dispersed for 2,000 years and
37:31There's never been a nation in the history of the world that's ever come
37:37back from being dispersed among the other nations of the world. But there was
37:43a stirring that was taking place. Jews in Spain and in Europe. They
37:49began to hear something. They began to hear, I feel, the voice of God.
37:55They began to hitch their carts and put all their furniture on that old
38:01cart. And they began to make their way back to the homeland of their
38:07founding fathers and try. Why are you going back? While you're taking
38:13your kids out of school, while you're giving up your wonderful, prosperous
38:19business that you have, while you're doing that and going back to
38:25a place where there is nothing promised, you've never seen the temple,
38:31you've never seen Jerusalem, while you're going back, I just feel something.
38:36I just hear something. I'm going back. Well, the same thing was going
38:42on in the spiritual realm in the church world. The same thing God was
38:48stirring and speaking to them. And at the Bethel Bible School in Topeka, Kansas,
38:54there was a woman by the name of Agnes Osmond. Agnes was 30
39:00years old. She came from Wisconsin, but she was a part of this
39:06holiness movement. If you'll stay with me, I won't be much longer. Amen.
39:12But about the midnight hour, when it turned 1900, the power of God
39:17fell on her. And she began to speak in tongues like they did in
39:23the book of Acts chapter 2. Amen. And the Lord gave her the
39:29baptism of the Holy Ghost. Very few people believed that would ever happen
39:34again, but felt it only happened in the book of Acts to form the
39:40church. People didn't believe the Jews were coming back to Israel, but at the
39:46same time they began to make their way back because God was speaking into
39:51the hearts of these people. both the church and the Jewish nation. I'm talking to
39:57this church. You think that we're going to just come to church and hear good
40:03preaching and singing? I got news for you. God's got a plan that's about to
40:09take place. God's got people set in order, and he is speaking to
40:15us, amen, and giving us a witness that something's about to happen. And
40:20I believe it's the end time revival, the latter rain that God says,
40:26I'm going to do it again. What I did in the book of
40:32Acts, I'm going to do it again. How many wants to be in
40:38that? Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. After Agnes spoke
40:43in unknown tongues for a period of time, she slipped into
40:49pure Chinese. And for three days, Agnes Osmond could not speak
40:55anything but Chinese. She had never spoken Chinese before. She ended
41:00up being a missionary to China, spent the rest of her
41:06life preaching and teaching in Chinese. There was another man that
41:12was close by. This was in Topeka, Kansas, Bethel Holiness Bible School. But
41:18there was a young man by the name of William Seymour who heard
41:23about what happened to Agnes. He also heard that there was others
41:29that had received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. At that time,
41:35he was attending God's Bible school, which incidentally is still going on
41:41in Cincinnati, Ohio. They don't believe in the Holy Ghost. But William
41:47Seymour went to Topeka, Kansas, told them, "There I want to enroll
41:53in this Bible school." I've heard about the outpouring of the Holy Ghost.
41:58I'm told that they told William Seymour, "Brother Seymour, we have to apologize to you.
42:04We love you, brother, but there is a law in this state called the Crow
42:10Law, and blacks and whites are not allowed to be in the same classroom, and
42:16if we get caught, we will be stopped and shut down by the government.
42:22That's hard to believe. I thank God today it's not like
42:28that anymore. We are one blood. We are one people. We're
42:33baptized into one spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one
42:39calling, one God, oneness. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ
42:44is a one God, united church of Jesus Christ. Come on,
42:50let's praise the Lord. William Seymour heard
42:55that God had said, "I will pour my
43:01spirit out in the last days upon all
43:06flesh." When I read his life story, I
43:12am so enamored. His prayer and tearing before
43:17God are legendary to me. He made his
43:23way from Topeka, Kansas. He said, "Okay, If I
43:29can't be in the classroom, just leave the door open. I'll sit in a chair
43:34out there in the hallway. You're talking about hungry for the things of God.
43:40I remember reading where he would stick his face in a shoebox
43:46and for hours pray for the Holy Ghost to come. Pray in
43:52hours. Oh, God, give me that wonderful desire to excel in the
43:57Spirit of God. I want to hear what the Spirit has to
44:03say. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. hallelujah and then he made his way to houston
44:09texas and then finally ended up azusa street azusa street in los
44:15angeles and there the holy ghost was poured out and the whole
44:21world began to be touched by this experience china asia india japan
44:27brother david gray told me how his parents who were Methodist missionaries
44:33to Japan, made their way from Japan to come to Azusa Street, and
44:38they received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. And of course, Brother David
44:44Gray, amen, a great, great man of God, one of my mentors that
44:50he would call me from time to time, and we would spend time
44:56together. But there at this time was a group of Cherokee Native Americans
45:01who began to praise God in North Carolina. and they lost their national language
45:07and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit was being
45:13poured out on the east coast. And it began to make its
45:19way up the Cumberland Gap and across the Appalachian Mountains into Tennessee
45:25and Kentucky and then into Texas and then to the northern states
45:31of the country. It was at that time, just a short time after
45:37that, that the Holy Ghost came to our community And my daddy told me this
45:42story. He said that I believe it was a tent revival. He said, told me
45:48about mother. Mother got so stirred up and wanting to go down to this tent
45:54revival. And daddy was a church of Christ. They don't believe in the Holy Ghost.
46:00They don't believe in the gifts of the Spirit. Amen. And my daddy, he didn't
46:06go to church, but he was a mean guy back in those days. And he
46:11said, if you go down to that church, you better, when you come back, you
46:17will pack your bags and leave this house because I am not going to let
46:23you stay here if you go down there. Well, mother slipped off, and guess what
46:28happened? She got the Holy Ghost in that meeting. She tried to
46:34stay quiet and keep it from my dad so he would know what had happened.
46:40But you can't keep this quiet. Amen. And after a while, she told him,
46:46said, why don't you just go down there and see for yourself what's going
46:52on down there. So Daddy said, okay, I think I will. He went to
46:58that revival meeting, and while he was sitting there, the preacher ended up his
47:03message, and he heard his name called Earl Hale Hale. He stopped, he
47:09told me, and turned around, and a neighbor was Brother Gene Keyes. He said,
47:15"What do you want?" And Brother Keyes said, "Mr. Hale, I didn't call you.
47:21I didn't say anything." And so he turns back around, and Daddy was so
47:27stoic, and after a while he said he heard his name called again, Earl
47:33Hale. He turned back around to Gene Keyes, and Gene said, No,
47:39I didn't call you. And Daddy said when he turned back around, he
47:44realized it was the voice of God calling him to come. He said
47:50he got up and went down there, and God filled him with the
47:56gift of the Holy Ghost. And here we are right now. Here we
48:01are right now. Somebody got a hold of
48:07God because they could hear what the Spirit
48:13had to say. Come on, let's praise Him.
48:18Come on, let's praise Him. So this morning,
48:24I was thinking about 34 years your pastor
48:30and wife has been here pastoring this church.
48:35How much seed, how much apostolic seed has
48:41been planted over those 34 years in this
48:47church? in this community, around, surrounded. Folks, I've
48:52got to tell you this, I'm not trying to
48:58be super spiritual, but I have reached a place
49:04sometimes in prayer where I could visualize Jesus as
49:10my high priest. And so when I pray, he
49:15can take my prayers, he can take them right
49:21into that throne room where The stones, the Bible
49:27says, are made of fire. And Ezekiel said around that
49:32one throne that's there, it's whirlwinds of fire. He describes
49:38whirlwinds of fire that's around that throne. And when people gets the Holy
49:44Ghost, what happened is some of that fire that's been swirling around the
49:50throne begins to come and fall upon the congregation. I want this church
49:55to see and hear what I'm fixing to tell you. God's got a
50:01revival for this church. God's got a revival of Holy Ghost fire that's
50:07going to come out of that whirlwind. Amen. And it's going to be brought
50:13here. You might not want to hear what I'm telling you, but I believe
50:18I saw it. I believe I heard a sound. I believe I have seen
50:24the witness of the clouds of glory. I believe I have heard the sound
50:30of abundance coming. of rain that's coming, amen, to this church in
50:36the name of Jesus. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. God's got something
50:41that's going to break the drugs off
50:47the drug addict. That's going to break
50:53the alcohol off a drunkard's soul and
50:59the alcoholic. He's going to heal broken
51:05hearts and set captives free. I want
51:11to be a witness, an eyewitness of
51:16the glory of God in the name
51:22of Jesus. You heard
51:28of the revival that took place at Ashbury
51:33University. This, of course, was a Methodist university.
51:38I just read yesterday where the Methodist Church
51:44has denounced this university from the Methodist organization.
51:49It happened in a chapel service that while
51:54the leader of the chapel service, it was
52:00a normal way that they did things. very
52:05quiet, and then this man made a statement, the leader of
52:11that chapel service. He said, "Is there anybody here that's got
52:17anything you would like to say?" And a man stood up,
52:22young man stood up, and he said, "Yes, I want to
52:28say I've been a hypocrite all my life. I've pretended to
52:33be a great Christian, and I live in corruption and adultery.
52:39and he began to name some of the horrible sins. He said, "I just want
52:45to be free from it, so I want to confess to this group that I
52:51am no longer wanting to be that kind of person. I want to change." And
52:57he began, I think, to cry and weep. When he did that, there was others
53:03in that room began to make the same statement. At the University, the voice of
53:09God was being heard. Amen. I wish that I could tell you what
53:15I feel today. The voice of the Lord is saying to people here,
53:21don't wait. You've got to go to higher ground. There's a storm coming.
53:26There's a bus. And I want to be one of those that finds
53:32my way into that place of that ark of safety. So how can
53:38I hear God's voice? And I am closing, folks. First
53:43of all, you've got to spend time, quality time, in the Word of God.
53:49Psalms 1 and 1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel
53:55of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the
54:00seat of the scornful, but his delights in the law of the Lord, in
54:06his law, doth he meditate day and night. I am so encouraged when I
54:11read about where Jesus confronted the devil in the wilderness. He did not
54:17come to the devil and destroy the works of the devil by his glory.
54:23He could have done that, but I could not have done it because I
54:29have no glory that would be sufficient. So the Lord said, I'm going to
54:35use something that I want people in 2026 to use when the devil comes.
54:41It is written, Satan. It is written, the Word of God. Amen.
54:47The devil would come and try to get something else done, and
54:53the Lord would just repeat the Scriptures and begin to talk about
54:58it. Folks, I thank God today for the Word of God. The
55:04Word of God is powerful. I said the Word of God is
55:10powerful. The name of Jesus. In the name of Jesus, I
55:15wished I could take time, but I won't take time to talk to
55:21you about how we had deliverance for a Satanist woman that visited our
55:27church. The second thing on how I can hear the voice of God
55:32is in prayer. I'm amazed at how many people say they love God,
55:38but they don't even speak to God. They go days without even talking
55:44to God. The people you know the best are the ones you spend
55:50the most time with. Amen. I think at one time in our church, we
55:55had five sets of identical twins. I couldn't tell them apart. I didn't know
56:01if I was talking to Mike or if I was talking to Matt. I
56:07didn't know if I was talking to Paulette or Paula. I didn't know. I
56:13just... Finally, I spent a little time with these, and because I
56:19spent time with them, I was able to recognize them and just to know.
56:25I've thought oftentimes that there are people that make the statement, the devil has
56:31been speaking to me, and I think that's so sad that people can actually
56:36say that they hear the voice of the devil, but they can't hear the
56:42voice of God. And the third thing that I will stop
56:48on in how to hear the voice of God is being around
56:54godly people. Godly people. You need godly people in your life. You
56:59need people that can pour into you. That's why church is so
57:05important. That's why to have a godly church and people that loves
57:10God, the fellowship and what all it can do. I'm so thankful
57:16the Bible says, "Let the strong bear the infirmities of the weak."
57:22We had a little girl in our church that was crippled. She
57:28had never walked in her life, Karen Sheneman. Karen had spinal bifida
57:34and her mother would bring her to church. I don't know of
57:40any time that her mother stayed home from church because it
57:46was too much for her to bring Karen to church. She would take
57:51that heavy, heavy wheelchair and put it in the back, and then she
57:57would take her daughter, who was about 14 when she died, and she
58:02bled out in an operation. But Karen was the sweetest thing I believe
58:08I have ever been around. And the one thing that made her so
58:14sweet to me was after I'd get through preaching, I'd go make my
58:19way finally around Karen, and Karen had this big smile, and she would say,
58:25Brother Hale, I believe that was the greatest message I have ever heard in
58:31my life. Oh, Brother Elms, I don't know if it, I don't know if
58:36it was you, but I like every once in a while to hear that
58:42I've hit a home run. And so I would make my way to
58:48Karen. Oh, my. Oh, my. I had a lady after that came to me and
58:54she came up to me. She was a sweetheart. She said, Brother Hale, I know.
58:59I don't know what I preached that night, but it must have been on gifts
59:05of the spirit or gifts of something. Because she came up and
59:11she said, I know, Brother Hale, what I'm called to
59:17do. Now, this is in essence, I can't remember her
59:22exact words. She said, I am to remind people of
59:28their failures. I said, Sister, that ain't a gift. That's
59:33the devil's business. There's no such spiritual gift as that.
59:40Amen. We all know that we're not perfect individuals. We don't need
59:46anybody to come up and tell us when we make our big
59:52mistakes. Amen. Amen. In closing today, just play, please, just a little
59:57bit. Amen. I'm told the last thing that a person loses when
60:03they're passing on is the sense of hearing. And I believe that.
60:09I believe that. I think even Scarlett has mentioned that.
60:15The reason why is because faith cometh by hearing and
60:21hearing by the Word of God. God, listen everybody, don't
60:27turn me off just because the music is playing. God
60:32is still calling people. The Bible says in essence that
60:38God stood by Samuel and he called out, "Samuel, Samuel."
60:44That's not the first time that God did that in
60:50Scripture. Genesis 22 and 11, And the angel of
60:56the Lord called unto him out of heaven and
61:01said, Abraham, Abraham. And he said, Here am I,
61:06Abraham. Genesis 4 to 6 and 2. And God
61:12spoke unto Israel in the visions of the night
61:17and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am
61:23I, Jacob. Exodus 3 and 4. And when the
61:29Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called
61:34to him out of the midst of the bush and
61:40said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. Luke
61:4610 and 41 and 42. Jesus answered and said unto
61:52her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many
61:57things. My daddy, Earl, Oh, I'm
62:03thankful for God that he knows our name, that he
62:09wants to talk to us. I've got in my Bible
62:15cover, I take it everywhere I go, a letter. I
62:20will not read it for time's sake. It's of a
62:26young man that I used to pastor in Oklahoma. He
62:32was just a little teenager. He would, after school, he
62:37would get on his bicycle, go all the way across
62:43town, come to church. put his bicycle outside the church
62:49building and go in and spend hours of prayer talking to
62:55God. 13, 14, 15 years old. Later on in life, he
63:00became a great young man in a youth group, used of
63:06God. He was called to preach in my book. I knew
63:12that the Lord had his hand upon him. He
63:17went off to Bible school and I think it was
63:23when he was at Bible school. The Lord took me
63:29away from Oklahoma, took me to Denver, Colorado. And this
63:34young man, after a period of time, he began to
63:40drift. Great, great young man, consecrated, dedicated to God. And
63:46years went by and he married out of the church.
63:52and the woman he married had a couple of children and
63:58he got so far away from God drinking and whatever years
64:04probably 10 years went by one Saturday night after I had
64:10gone to bed probably way up in the night I get
64:15a phone call from this young man and he said brother
64:21Hale this is Randy brother Hale I want to talk to
64:27you so bad He said, "Today the Lord spoke
64:33to me and told me to go to church somewhere today. I
64:39had to go to church tonight somewhere. The voice of God was
64:45so powerful on me. I found a nearby revival and I went
64:50to it." He said, "Brother Hale, I prayed through. I don't know
64:56what happened to me and why that I walked away from God.
65:02But God told me that I had to come pray through today. And he
65:08made this statement. He said, I want to start my life over and I
65:14need you. Would you mind if I would move my family there and be
65:20in the church and be under you? And I said, Randy, it would be
65:26my honor to pastor you again. I would love to have you be with
65:31us. That was on that Saturday night. The next morning, Randy said, attended
65:37the revival service. And then seven days later, on Mother's Day,
65:43in the revival service, Randy had been taught as a young
65:48child that you come early and go to the prayer room.
65:54And he taught his little kids that he had now, lined
66:00them up, three of them, in chairs in the prayer room,
66:05spent time with God in prayer. Then the altar call
66:11came and Randy went back to the altar again. Something
66:17happened to Randy in the altar. He had an aneurysm.
66:22He passed away right there in the altar. Seven days
66:28after God had spoken to him. Well, I'm not telling
66:33you that for you to think that that's going to
66:38happen to anybody here. I wouldn't know that. But I
66:44did tell it on Mother's Day. This was Mother's Day.
66:50and the letter that I have in my Bible cover, it would
66:56break your heart because Randy wrote it to his mother and they
67:02found it after he passed away on Mother's Day. He wrote a
67:08letter to his mother and how much he loved her and how
67:13much he thought of Brother Hale. I can't prove this. I can't
67:19prove it by the Bible, but I believe it. I believe that
67:25God says, Randy, you didn't finish your prayer.
67:31and because of that I want to call you now and get
67:37you back and because of the prayers that he had prayed God
67:43says I want to give you another chance I want to give
67:49you another chance so I told this story on Mother's Day two
67:55years ago well we had a young man that was there same
68:01story alcoholic and he told his mother just a few days before
68:07he said you know When I go to church, I feel
68:13so good, but he was so bound by alcohol. And that
68:19Sunday morning on Mother's Day, I told the story about Randy.
68:25Darren got the Holy Ghost. Darren prayed through to the Holy
68:30Ghost. Four days later in his driveway, he had a heart
68:36attack and went out into eternity. I want you to bow
68:42your head just a moment here. I've stirred
68:47up my own heart so many times by listening, hearing God. Times
68:53when I felt I was lukewarm. Times when I got close to
68:59being a prodigal. If you've never been saved today, I want to
69:04encourage you. There's a flood coming and the voice of God has
69:10been spoken right now. The ark of safety saying you need to
69:15move to higher ground. The Bible says that
69:21the grace of God has appeared to all men.
69:26And when you look up the word grace in
69:32the Greek, it says it's God's influence on the
69:38human soul. I want you to stand with me
69:44today, if you would. I want you to sing,
69:49please, honey. I want the Holy Ghost to speak.
69:55In just a few moments, I'm going to open
70:01up this altar. and let you draw close to God.
70:06I don't know, I don't know what God is telling you, but I can
70:12promise you that the Lord changed this message for me to speak today about
70:18the voice and hearing the voice of God. If you feel like you want
70:24to draw a little closer, I want you to come up here to where
70:30I am. I want you to come up. If you feel like you want
70:36to hear The voice of the Lord, I want you to open up your heart.
