Summary

Pastor Elms explores the hidden spiritual dynamics of David's victory over Goliath, emphasizing that our battles are actually opportunities for God to reveal His anointing in us as we submit to His authority.

Key points
  • Consecration is multifaceted; it not only involves brokenness and tears before God but also standing up with holy boldness to make declarations in His name.
  • God often allows or ordains 'Goliaths' (antagonists or difficult situations) in our lives to reveal the true anointing He has placed on us and to awaken a disdain for things that defy His ways.
  • Submission is truly revealed where personal agreement ends; walking in authority requires first being under authority (God's and God-ordained leadership).
  • Our duty is to fulfill our assigned task (like David delivering bread and cheese) and represent the Kingdom, while recognizing that the battle itself belongs to the Lord.
  • Distinguish between your part and God's part: Our part is to lay hands on the sick and pray; God's part is the healing and the deliverance.

This week, when you face a 'Goliath'-a person or situation that feels overwhelming-refuse to fight using worldly tactics like revenge or 'matching energy.' Instead, stand in your identity as a child of God and pray with authority, trusting that while you do your duty, God will handle the outcome.

Reflection questions
  1. In what areas of my life am I struggling to submit because I disagree with the direction or leadership?
  2. How do I typically react to 'Goliaths' in my life: with personal offense or with the recognition that the battle belongs to God?
  3. Am I trying to do God's job (healing, changing hearts, winning battles) instead of simply doing my assigned duty (praying, serving, and feeding His sheep)?
  4. Is there a situation where I need to transition from "kneeling" consecration to "standing" consecration?

0:00I've listened to it a hundred times.
0:00It's an amazing praise song. All right.
0:01We're going to talk about secrets from
0:03David's battle with Goliath tonight. And
0:06uh
0:07I I I told the Lord in prayer. I said,
0:09"Lord,
0:11I I am preaching differently now, folks,
0:13okay?
0:14And there's your number one duty in your
0:17life is to pray and reach chiefly they
0:21of your own household.
0:23Uh the Bible said if you neglect them,
0:25then you have um denied the faith
0:28and you're worse than an infidel.
0:30And so whenever you hear Sister Crystal
0:33praying for her mother and walking with
0:35her mother through this time of the
0:37valley uh of a cancer battle again,
0:40going through all the radiations and
0:43other medicines that she's on, listen,
0:46it's Crystal doing her called duty.
0:50Her called duty is chiefly they of your
0:52own household. And when I pray uh now,
0:55I'm praying that Lord, help me preach in
0:58such a way
1:00that it will impact my kids
1:03so that they will impact their kids.
1:06Yes, right, right. Honestly, Austin is
1:08my target tonight.
1:10He's not my only target, obviously. You
1:12know what I'm saying, but I'm just
1:14saying, "Oh Lord,
1:17Yes Jesus.
1:18This is not a performance.
1:21I'm not practicing a style.
1:23Yes. I'm not up here talking to be
1:25talking and filling a space.
1:28I'm still battling some stuff, so y'all
1:31give me some space, okay? I'll do arm
1:32bumps, but I don't want to be the guilty
1:35for passing it on. My Lord, I was 20 ft
1:37from Pam on Sunday and she called in out
1:40of for for work on Monday. I said, "Pam,
1:42I'm the one calling in."
1:44But she apparently caught it at 20 ft.
1:46And uh
1:48anyway, it's probably going around. But,
1:51if it is, I rebuke it in Jesus' name.
1:53My point is this.
1:56It's more important than my comfort and
1:58my convenience. It's more important than
2:01just a sweet phrase. I want to empower
2:04every parent in this place,
2:07every child in this place, every
2:09grandchild in this place, that you would
2:13catch this as a tool to reach every
2:16backslider that's in your family, that
2:19you would carry this to reach every
2:20person that seems to be on fire in your
2:23family, that you would grab these truths
2:27and let them live in your spirit.
2:30Because I want to talk about secrets
2:32from David's battle with Goliath. I
2:35think I've come across some things that
2:37are not obvious at first look. All
2:40right. First Samuel, the 17th chapter.
2:44The whole story is this 17th chapter.
2:47We're going to read two clustering of
2:49verses
2:50beginning with verse 28.
2:53And Eliab, his eldest brother,
2:56heard when he spake unto the men. And
2:58Eliab's anger was kindled against David.
3:02And he said, "Why camest thou down
3:04hither?
3:05And with whom hast thou left those
3:09few sheep in the wilderness?
3:12I know thy pride and the naughtiness of
3:16thine heart.
3:17For thou art come down that thou
3:20mightest see the battle."
3:23And David said,
3:26"What have I now done?
3:29Is there not a cause?"
3:34Verse 45. Then said David to the
3:37Philistine,
3:39"Thou comest to me with sword
3:42and with a spear
3:44and with a shield.
3:46But I come to thee in the name of the
3:47Lord of hosts,
3:50the God of the armies of Israel, whom
3:53thou hast defied.
3:55This day will the Lord deliver thee into
3:58mine hand, and I will smite thee and
4:01take thine head from thee.
4:04And I will give the carcass of the host
4:08of the Philistines this day
4:10unto the fowls of the air.
4:14And to the wild beast
4:17of the earth,
4:18that all the earth may know that there
4:20is a God in Israel.
4:22And all this assembly shall know that
4:24the Lord saveth not with sword
4:27and spear,
4:29for the battle is the Lord's.
4:31And he will give you into our hands."
4:36I pray you can carry some of this home
4:38with you tonight.
4:39Secrets
4:41from David's battle with Goliath.
4:43Father, it is our desire to
4:46come in your strength and in your force
4:48force and in your power.
4:50And of course, these people have
4:52journeyed into your sacred precinct. And
4:55in this place they have brought their
4:57minds. They have prayed on their way and
4:59they have prayed once they got here. We
5:02have worshipped you to prepare the soil
5:04of our spirit. Now, oh God, allow these
5:08words to not be looked at as profound,
5:11but let them be looked at felt as
5:13powerful. Let them not seem to be the
5:16articulation of men, but let them, oh
5:19God, be obvious that they're are the
5:22oracle of God. Let it not be, oh Lord,
5:25that we are somehow passing on head
5:29knowledge, but let it be in the Holy
5:31Ghost, oh Lord, that heart language is
5:34spoken today in Jesus name I pray. Amen.
5:39You may be seated. Thank you for
5:40standing.
5:43Oh, you all look so beautiful tonight.
5:46And to think they're still going on with
5:48Joy University
5:49and our teams are back there teaching
5:51our children. It always moves my heart
5:54with great joy when I recognize that our
5:57children are getting things given to
5:58them on a level that they are more apt
6:01to receive. And we're so grateful for
6:04all the staff and the team that makes up
6:07our Joy University grouping. And also
6:10the young people are out and they have
6:12started having their service in this
6:14midweek session. And of course brother
6:17and sister
6:19Christian Moore and Heather as they are
6:21shepherding this process forward. Amen.
6:25The lead up to this chapter is the 16th
6:30of 1 Samuel.
6:31And David of course in that chapter is
6:34introduced to us for the very first
6:36time.
6:37In that introduction we learn a couple
6:39of things about David that we have not
6:41known. You and I cannot enter into the
6:43biblical record without having already
6:45brought with us the knowledge of the
6:48stories that we have heard. Be they
6:51accurate or inaccurate. No matter how
6:53your story of David versus Goliath has
6:57come to you, you all have preconceived
6:59notions of what this David is like. The
7:0316th of this book in 1 Samuel, David is
7:06anointed king by Samuel. And Samuel
7:10comes and travels to the household of
7:12Jesse. Goes through the long process of
7:15finding who God said the king would be.
7:18It has not been an easy journey because
7:21it was Samuel who had prayed that God
7:23would allow Israel to have a king. And
7:26he had and now anointed Saul to be king.
7:29He had been through this journey of Saul
7:32finding haughtiness in his place. He had
7:36grown in the position of king to where
7:38he wore the robe quite well. In fact, he
7:41wore it so well that now he had started
7:44to believe that he was the robe instead
7:47of thinking that God was the giver of it
7:49all. And Samuel had to come to a
7:52conclusion that God said, "I am taking
7:56my spirit off of Saul. He will no longer
8:00have my favor because he has disregarded
8:03to walk in submission to me." Well, he's
8:06the king. Kings have to have submission.
8:08Oh, yes, when you're under the ruling of
8:11God, you have to have submission because
8:14the Lord tells us that obedience without
8:17obedience is greater than sacrifice.
8:20There's a lot of people who hear about
8:22submission and they like the word
8:23submission, but they're not always aware
8:26of when submission is revealed.
8:29Submission begins where agreement ends.
8:33When the one who is watching over your
8:35soul tells you something that you don't
8:37want to hear, that's when you will find
8:40out how submitted you are. When they ask
8:43of you to do something you don't want to
8:45do, that's when you can go
8:46passive-aggressive on them and begin to
8:49try to play all the games that people
8:51play or you can say, "Lord, I don't
8:54understand what they're thinking. I
8:56don't comprehend the reason why they
8:58chose to take this strategy or this
9:01tact, but I'm going to submit because
9:04your way is above my ways." Submission
9:07is an act that men must learn, and it is
9:11an act that women have to learn. The
9:13Bible says, "Wives, submit yourself to
9:16your husbands." That's not my sermon.
9:18Why did I feel like bringing that up
9:20right now?
9:21But submission begins where agreement
9:24ends. You're not submitted if you only
9:27do the things you want to do. You're not
9:29submitted if you only hear the things
9:31you want to hear. If you slam the door
9:33and walk away and throw your pouting fit
9:36when he tells you something that you
9:38don't want to hear, then you can just go
9:40ahead and write on the mirror when it
9:42fogs up, I'm not submitted. Go ahead and
9:45write it on the refrigerator and put it
9:46there before you get your snacks, I'm
9:49not submitted. I want you to write it
9:51where God can see it. But men, you've
9:53got to love her as Christ loved the
9:55church. There is a submission to that
9:58and that's the why there's a pastor in
10:00this place because sometimes the men
10:03play the power card of religiosity on
10:06their wife. Well, sister wife, you can
10:08call my number, you know it. Call your
10:10pastor's number and your pastor's going
10:12to listen and if your husband is getting
10:15out of sorts, he will have to come under
10:17submission. Oh, this is not going to be
10:19preached on TBN. This isn't going to be
10:21preached somewhere out there in the
10:23religious world, but we still believe
10:25the word of God matters. That's the
10:27reason I have always told this church
10:29phone numbers of the men that I'm
10:31submitted to and if you had ever thought
10:34in my years of pastoring that I had
10:36stepped out of side the realm of of of
10:39being a submitted, you could call one of
10:42those for most of my ministry three
10:44numbers. You could call them. It's down
10:47probably to one right now, brother Hale
10:49is still alive and he will sit me down
10:52if it's out of order and I talked to
10:54brother Huntley recently, but you know,
10:56I'm in in that age where you kind of get
10:58to a place where the mentors that you
11:00had are are starting to say hello to
11:03heaven and so I'm in those in that
11:05twilight zone of adjustments, but all of
11:08you that I've been honored to pastor for
11:09these 34 years, there's several of you
11:12here tonight that have been under my
11:15care since 1992 and I cannot tell you
11:18the delight of my heart and the joy of
11:21my soul to have the sweet honor of being
11:24able to bring you the bread of life
11:26every week of my ministry here. It is an
11:29honor, but I will not be a man that's
11:32not under submission because if you
11:34don't know authority, you can't have
11:37authority. And so you've got to walk in
11:39the understanding of submission and
11:41because Saul did not, he lost the grip
11:44on the kingdom. And God said, "You can
11:47have the throne, you can have the crown,
11:49you can have the scepter, you can have
11:51the armies, but you can't have me." And
11:53when you find out that it's not about a
11:55throne and a palace and a scepter and a
11:57robe, it's not about an army and about
12:00specially elite forces to guard you by
12:02day and watch over you by night. When
12:04you realize the one you need is the
12:06Lord, then you realize if I had the Lord
12:09on my side, that's all I need. If God be
12:12for me,
12:16So, uh we find out that David is
12:18anointed king. It's interesting because
12:21he's the last one anointed.
12:23Samuel will try it every son of Jesse,
12:26but it wasn't until they had reached out
12:27to the sheepfold, to the last one that
12:29had been left out, out there just
12:31watching the sheep while all that's all
12:33dark and handsome ones received their
12:36potential anointing. It wasn't until
12:39David walked through the door that the
12:41anointing happened. That's the first of
12:43first Samuel 16. The second portion of
12:46first Samuel 16 is where Saul, now the
12:49anointing has left him, the favor of God
12:51is not upon him. He is starting to have
12:53mental breakdowns. He is starting to
12:55have emotional faults. He is starting to
12:58be tormented in his night hours and
13:00there is no name of the Lord he can call
13:02on and find peace because God can walk
13:05away. Don't think this is just an Old
13:08Testament phenomena, ladies and
13:10gentlemen. God can walk away. He does
13:13walk away in the New Testament, too. We
13:15don't preach that very often, but I want
13:17us to understand here in this house
13:19right now. Oh, Lord, let me just tell
13:21you real quietly, God can walk away.
13:25When you disregard Him and forget His
13:27ways and disrespect His plan and act as
13:30if you are God instead of Him being God,
13:33He can say, "I've had enough of you."
13:35and He can walk away. He did from Saul
13:39and Saul was always tormented. And so,
13:42all of the wise men of the council
13:44called together and said, "Uh we notice
13:47that Saul seems to have a calming of his
13:49spirit whenever songs and music are sung
13:53and played. Let's go through the entire
13:55kingdom and let's find the greatest
13:57musician and singer that we have in the
14:00whole kingdom." And so, they spanned out
14:03looking for the greatest singer,
14:05songwriter, musician in the entirety of
14:08the kingdom. And they came across one.
14:10They said, "Oh, have you ever heard
14:12Jesse's boy? Have you heard him play and
14:15sing?" And so, they went. They sent an
14:18entourage of judges to hear him play and
14:20sing. I don't know what it felt like. It
14:23was probably more difficult than the
14:26American Idol uh idea. It was probably
14:29harder than America's Voice having the
14:32king's royal judges come and listen to
14:34you play and sing. And so, he walked out
14:37and they said, "All right, sing and
14:39play." And he begins to sing in the
14:40presence of the Almighty. Sweeps from
14:43his vocal cords over that room and they
14:45all sit there and the goosebumps come
14:48over their arms and they look at each
14:50other and one nudges the other and David
14:52is caught up in the rapture of the
14:55sheepfold singing to the sky that he has
14:58sung to all of his days. And that day
15:01they said, "Uh I don't think there's one
15:04better than that." When they come back
15:05together in Jerusalem to see where and
15:09who would come. Different reports came
15:11from the different states and the
15:13different territories. And they all
15:15talked and compared notes until
15:17ultimately they said, "David's the one."
15:20And they said to him, "David, though
15:22he's just a boy,
15:24um and he's good-looking, and he
15:27probably is one of the best ones to play
15:29music, why don't you bring him here?"
15:32And of course he did. And the end of the
15:3516th chapter of 1 Samuel is David
15:38playing and singing for Saul. And every
15:41time he did there was such a miraculous
15:43change that came over the king that he
15:45made David his armor-bearer. He said,
15:48"Not only do I need you to be attendant
15:51me in the throne room, but if ever I
15:53have to go to the battlefield, I need
15:56you to bring with you your lyre. And
15:59there if you'll play and sing, no matter
16:01how hard the circumstance, come with
16:04me." But somewhere through it all he
16:06lost contact with David. And then we get
16:09to the 17th chapter of 1 Samuel. This is
16:13the third time that we are introduced to
16:15David. I'm talking about secrets from
16:17the battle of David and Goliath. This is
16:20the third time we're introduced to to
16:22David in scripture. The first
16:24introduction, David's brought home from
16:27the sheep and anointed. The second
16:29introduction, David is brought to play
16:31Saul music. And they said about him
16:34there, "Not only is he handsome, and not
16:37only can he sing and play, but he's also
16:39a mighty valiant man, that he's a man of
16:41war. He's a prudent in all matters."
16:43There's no evidence that they had to
16:45prove that he was these things. It might
16:47have been that they just stuck that in
16:50there to get him into Saul's presence.
16:52We know by time that he is that, but
16:55there's no evidence of that yet. And
16:57that's where we come to their last
16:59statement. They said, "And the Lord is
17:02with him." That was the music that Saul
17:06had to hear. I want people around me
17:10that the Lord is with. I want my friends
17:13to be people who walk in alignment and
17:16in order. I've been around friends, one
17:19of my best friends, I'll never forget
17:21when one of my best friends, when I was
17:22a young man, decided he wanted to start
17:24walking a little different than the
17:26pastor. Yes, the pastor was my father,
17:29but I'm telling you something, every PK
17:31I know doesn't always stand with their
17:33father. Every PK I know doesn't always
17:36stand up and concern themselves with how
17:38daddy is. I've known a lot of PKs who go
17:41off the deep end, ladies and gentlemen,
17:42but I was going to stand and even though
17:44this young man was such a friend to me,
17:46my dad had been there. His dad had drunk
17:49himself until he went and sat on a
17:53rail of a road railroad tracks and the
17:56train ran him over. IT WAS SUICIDE BY
17:59TRAIN. My dad was the one who drove and
18:02picked him up from school and walked him
18:04through all those times, but there came
18:06a point in his life where he decided,
18:09you know, he was a little smarter than
18:10his pastor. He was a little more had
18:13more revelation than his pastor and he
18:15began TO IT STARTED COMING OUT and we
18:17would sit around and talk and we played
18:18a lot of basketball and on the
18:20basketball court, little things like,
18:22man, I don't know if your dad sees the
18:23glory that was in that verse and I'm
18:25sitting there thinking, what's happening
18:27to you? What's going on? And of course,
18:29I wasn't going to bow up and say
18:30anything back. I didn't have that kind
18:32of juice in me back then because he was
18:35a a dominant force in my life. Uh he was
18:38my potentially best friend at that time.
18:41But I'll tell you what I'm not going to
18:42do. I'm not going to walk with people
18:44that are walking out of alignment. I'm
18:46not going to walk away with people that
18:48walk outside of the order of the Lord.
18:52And so that's where I want to circle
18:54myself. I've been friends with many
18:56pastors and in the years when I came to
18:59Florida, there was a few friends of mine
19:01that we would we would sit around and
19:02talk. Some of them always had some kind
19:05of back door story about how the
19:08district leaders were against them and
19:10it was easy to hear that. It was easy to
19:12listen to that because maybe we were
19:14passed over. Maybe we were not invited
19:16to go eat in the board room. Maybe we
19:19were not a part of the inside group
19:21there at district conference and I
19:22remember eating with them and hearing
19:24them slowly but surely try to talk about
19:27how they had more revelation and how
19:30that leader didn't know how to run that
19:32service and they would go to a camp
19:34meeting service and they'd leave and
19:35they say things like didn't man, we
19:37missed it tonight. I wish our leaders
19:39had an idea and all of the time I was
19:42sitting there saying whoa, whoa, wait
19:44just a minute here something. It's easy
19:46to critique the one that's wearing the
19:48the the the the the headship. It's easy
19:51to talk about them, but you don't know
19:53all the other things that they're trying
19:55to manage in that service at that
19:57moment, before that moment and after
19:59that moment. And so instead of being
20:01with people who always thought they had
20:03the magic sauce, I want to settle with
20:05those who say Lord, I don't have to know
20:08everything that's going on. I know
20:09there's an alignment in my life and I'm
20:12not going to bring revolt. I'm not going
20:14to bring the kind of upheaval that
20:16doesn't trust my leadership.
20:19I don't know why I'm preaching on
20:21leadership tonight. It's one of my
20:23rarest sermons around here. In fact,
20:25after 34 years, you've probably hardly
20:27never heard me preach about it because
20:29it sounds like I'm trying to defend
20:31myself and my daddy didn't raise me to
20:33be the kind of guy that would defend
20:34himself. No, I'm just going to be who I
20:37am. That's the way daddy raised me. Just
20:39go on, take care of yourself, do all the
20:42rest. But sometimes in the house of God,
20:45I'm going to have an authority that I
20:47don't need as a man, but I need to say
20:49it as an authority of God. You need to
20:51back the leadership in this house. You
20:53need to back the board members in this
20:55house. You need to back the people who
20:58lead songs and lead worship and lead the
21:00choir and lead in different departments
21:03BECAUSE LEADERSHIP HAS A HEAVINESS ON
21:06THEM. You need to be praying for Brother
21:08Torres as he tries to build up God a
21:11Spanish congregation. YOU NEED TO PRAY
21:13FOR BROTHER MONCAYO WHEN YOU REALIZE
21:16that there's battles going on there. YOU
21:18NEED TO PRAY, OH LORD, TOUCH THE
21:20PRESBYTER of this section. I'm talking
21:22about Brother Hadamar right now. We need
21:24TO PRAY EVERY I'LL NEVER DRIVE BY HIS
21:26CHURCH without stretching my hands
21:28toward IT AND SAYING, "BLESS THAT MIGHTY
21:31HOUSE of faith." I WANT TO PRAY FOR
21:33BROTHER BOYD. I WANT TO PRAY FOR BROTHER
21:35BERNARD. I WANT TO PRAY FOR OUR
21:37LEADERSHIP. WHY? BECAUSE HEAVY IS THE
21:40HEAD that wears that I'm not going to
21:43say a crown,
21:45but it's leadership.
21:48And of course,
21:49David wouldn't even cut the garment of
21:51Saul
21:52when it was obvious the spirit of the
21:54Lord had departed from him.
21:56He wouldn't touch the anointed of God.
21:59And it has already been revealed. He had
22:01watched Saul try to kill him BY THROWING
22:04A SPEAR WHILE he sang. David had to be
22:07quick in his feet when all of that
22:09happened. What was it all about and what
22:11are the secrets that we've got to learn
22:15from this David
22:17Goliath
22:18battle.
22:20See,
22:21this Goliath moment takes the entire
22:23chapter of
22:24the 17th of 1 Samuel.
22:27And he went to that with no scenario
22:29training,
22:30no certified He was not certified for
22:32open carry of deadly weapons.
22:34He had not only not ever killed a man,
22:37he had only dealt with wildlife.
22:40And uh what is about to happen
22:42is a showdown
22:45to the end.
22:46And the question is,
22:48how shall we live
22:50when the showdown
22:51shows up?
22:53You're going to have a Goliath, ladies
22:54and gentlemen,
22:56and we have been in a month of
22:57consecration.
22:59And this is a message about
23:00consecration.
23:01But it is a message about a different
23:03side of consecration. Many times we've
23:05interpreted consecration
23:07as just getting close to the Lord and
23:11getting near the cross and holding on to
23:14the horns of the altar and rededicating
23:16our life to him. But there's another
23:19aspect to consecration that I'm going to
23:21bring out tonight for you to understand.
23:24And that is there's going to be moments
23:26in your life where your consecration is
23:28not going to take you down, but it's
23:30going to stand you up. There's going to
23:32be moments when your consecration
23:34doesn't put you on your face, but it
23:36puts you on your tiptoes. There's going
23:38to be moments your consecration doesn't
23:40lead you to tears, but it leads you to a
23:42shout. There's going to be times that
23:44your consecration is not going to take
23:46you into a place of brokenness, but it's
23:49going to take you into a place of
23:50declarations.
23:52BECAUSE GOD'S CONSECRATION, IT'S
23:55MULTIFACETED.
23:56Your chances of victory facing this
23:59battle are little to
24:01little to none, but I've come to
24:03proclaim to you consecration will build
24:06you up, too.
24:09Oh yes.
24:12The story of David and Goliath is one of
24:14the most well-known in all of scripture.
24:16You know about Noah and his ark.
24:19You've heard about Jonah and his whale.
24:22You've heard about Daniel
24:24and that den.
24:25Uh even if you didn't go to Sunday
24:27school, even if you've never seen
24:29VeggieTales, even if you don't know what
24:32B2U B2U means,
24:34big, tall, and ugly. You don't know that
24:38that's talking about not Dave and the
24:40giant pickle. You know
24:42that that's talking about Goliath.
24:45That's what you kids of the VeggieTales
24:47generation know about. BTU big, tall,
24:51and ugly's coming your way. Oh, you
24:53don't even have to be a church goer to
24:55know that. David his uh in his part-time
24:59gig of being an Uber Eats driver and his
25:02dad had told him to take lunch to his
25:05brothers. And so, he loads him down with
25:07bread and cheese tells him to get in his
25:10car and make an Uber Eats delivery. And
25:13when he finally gets to the Valley of
25:14Ela he parks his carriage and he's
25:17running to see his brothers. And while
25:19he's running to see his brothers before
25:21he ever gets to deliver the package he
25:24hears from the valley this giant BTU
25:28STANDING UP DEFILING
25:30ALL OF THE armies and the hosts of
25:35Saul.
25:42He can't believe what he hears.
25:44Everybody's talking about the host of
25:46Saul.
25:47When when
25:49when did we become the host of Saul?
25:53When did we become the Cathedral of
25:55Pentecost?
25:58When did we become Pentecostals?
26:01When did we become Apostolics?
26:05All these are wonderful terms.
26:07They represent wonderful things.
26:10But if you're not representing Jesus who
26:11is the Christ
26:13then you have forgotten who you are.
26:16You are not representing the United
26:18Church you are not representing the
26:19Pentecostal movement you are not
26:21representing the Apostolic traditions.
26:23You are representing one who's going to
26:25come back. And when he comes that day
26:28he's not going to check your ministerial
26:30credentials. He's not going to check if
26:32you know all THE TRADITIONS AND THE
26:33PATTERNS OF THIS GREAT WONDERFUL
26:35MOVEMENT THAT I'M honored to be A PART
26:37OF. HE'S GOING TO SAY, "DID YOU KNOW
26:39ME?"
26:41OH, WHEN WE PRAY OF CONSECRATION, I'M
26:44NOT TUNING IN TO TRY TO BE MORE LIKE
26:46THIS CHURCH OR MORE LIKE THAT CHURCH.
26:48I'M NOT TRYING TO MEASURE myself to be
26:50more like this PREACHER OR MORE LIKE
26:52THAT PREACHER. I'M GOING TO THE WORD OF
26:54GOD and getting on my face and I'm
26:55saying, "Oh Lord, I don't know who I was
26:57created TO BE, BUT I KNOW I'M GOING TO
26:59BECOME WHATEVER YOU CREATED ME TO
27:02BECOME. AND SO, I'M GOING TO
27:04I'm going to give you my best. I'm going
27:06to give you my best. I'm going to give
27:07you my best."
27:09I am I am not discouraged. I am not
27:12ashamed. I am not going to be stymied. I
27:15will not be stopped. I will not be
27:17discouraged. I will not be knocked down.
27:23But he doesn't even get out to hear
27:25about that till he tries to find what he
27:27thought would be the bravest cluster of
27:29warriors he could get to. He got to
27:31where his brothers were and he looked at
27:34him them and said, "What's going on
27:36here?" And his older brother kneecaps
27:39him.
27:40And he said a few
27:42cutting words to him.
27:45And he said, "Uh what are you doing down
27:46here?"
27:48"Well, I got a Uber Eats duty for dad,
27:51but uh
27:53I'm making my delivery here. Here's the
27:55bread. Here's all the cheese dad sent.
27:57He also sent me with a bottle of
27:59wonderful wine for the king and your
28:01leaders because he understands order.
28:04And so, I'm going to take that to them,
28:07uh but what are you guys doing sitting
28:09here?" And his brother said, "Um I know
28:12what's going on in your heart. You're
28:13just a proud little sapling.
28:16You you you are uh
28:19what are you doing about your few
28:20sheep?"
28:22The few gives the hint away. He's trying
28:24to knock him down. He's trying to put
28:27him back in his place and it wasn't
28:29about David's place. It was about God's
28:31space. And uh he he said, "I know the
28:34reason you're here. You're just curious.
28:36You wanted to see the battle. You wanted
28:37to come watch some fighting. You're just
28:39driven by curiosity. Ladies and
28:41gentlemen, let me tell you a first
28:43secret about this battle is that people
28:46can mess you up.
28:48God will send people in your life. Yeah,
28:51I said it right.
28:52I said it right. You think they're from
28:54the the devil. The Bible tells us that
28:57that evil spirit that went to Saul was
28:59from the Lord.
29:02Imagine when God reaches down to hell
29:04and say you work for me right now.
29:07The evil spirit was sent by God. He
29:10didn't have an angel that was not fallen
29:12pretend to be bad. No, he reached down
29:14to the angels that he made and he said,
29:16"Hey hell, you're going to give one of
29:18your boys up and he's going to torment
29:19Saul." And this GUY DIDN'T EVEN LIKE HIS
29:21ASSIGNMENT, BUT HE HAD TO DO IT BECAUSE
29:22GOD is God.
29:27God will send someone to your life who
29:30who is so
29:33so driving you down and so driven to
29:36beat you up and so verbally discouraging
29:39you. Sometimes they're subtle. Sometimes
29:41they're in your face. BUT I'M ASKING
29:44THIS CHURCH, WHO in this place is so
29:46secure in what God is doing in your life
29:50that you cannot be intimidated by or
29:52jealous about what God is doing in
29:55somebody else's life?
29:59I mean you got to get TO THE PLACE WHERE
30:01YOU WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED THAT YOU
30:03DON'T HAVE A PLACE AND THEY DO have a
30:05place. NO, I'M GOING TO BE USED BY GOD
30:08AND THEY'RE GOING TO BE USED BY GOD AND
30:10I'M NOT SO INSECURE AS TO THINK THAT GOD
30:14has forgotten me.
30:24You never
30:25need to be intimidated. I'm telling you
30:27in a holiness church, here's another
30:29thing I I'll always remember growing up.
30:31We're going to always be a holiness
30:33church. We're always going to be a
30:34separated church, okay?
30:35But in every holiness church and every
30:37separated church, there's not everybody
30:38that's on the same page. And so the
30:40those that seem to be more in alignment
30:42with what the pastor's asked,
30:44uh they see those who are not quite in
30:46alignment with what the pastor's asked.
30:48And there's always a spirit that likes
30:49to walk the aisles that says, "Either
30:51the preacher clean it up or I'm mad and
30:53I'm going to get out of here." Or they
30:56just sit around and get jealous and they
30:57start doing what they think they're
30:59getting by with. Do you think anybody's
31:02getting by with anything? When was I
31:04given the ruling power to judge a
31:07person's place in God? No, I'm I'm not
31:10given the power to judge a person's
31:12place by God. What we do as outward
31:14expressions are really just expressions
31:17of devotion. That's what they are.
31:19You're not saved by standards, you're
31:21separated by standards. Standards
31:24standards will not save you. Standards
31:27will set you in the presence of the
31:29king. Who shall ascend the hill of the
31:31Lord? He that hath clean hands. I'm not
31:34cleaning my hands so I can get access to
31:36you. I'm cleaning my life and cleaning
31:38the way I DRESS AND CLEANING THE WAY I
31:40INTERPRET THINGS IN A MANNER SO I CAN
31:42GET IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.
31:47I'VE BEEN AROUND SOME THEY THEY do they
31:49do standards when they're not on
31:50vacation and they have a different
31:52standards when they're on vacation. I
31:53wasn't raised that way and I'll never I
31:55didn't raise my kids that way. This Elms
31:57right here is going to be the same on
31:59vacation as he is when I'm here because
32:02there's an authenticity about
32:04understanding. It's not my kids' favor
32:07I'm trying to get. IT'S NOT MY WIFE'S
32:09favor I'm trying TO GET. IT'S NOT the
32:11UPC's favor I'm trying TO GET. I'M
32:13TRYING TO ASCEND THE HILL OF THE LORD.
32:16I'M NOT TRYING TO GET A POLITICAL
32:17OFFICE. I want to ascend THE HILL OF THE
32:19LORD. AND WHEN HE GIVES me a revelation
32:22and it takes ME ANOTHER STEP INTO his
32:23presence, then yes, Lord. YES, LORD. MY
32:27SOUL says yes.
32:32Do not think that everybody God uses
32:34will that to grow you
32:36will like you.
32:38Everybody God uses to grow you
32:41will not always like you. I know you
32:45won't say amen right there. I didn't
32:47expect a lot of help because you thought
32:49everybody God uses is supposed to like
32:52you. But allow me to tell you that God
32:54allows and ordains Goliaths to do God's
32:57work.
32:58You're going to run up on folk that hate
33:00you for no good reason. You're going to
33:02run across people that just don't even
33:04like the way you look and God put them
33:06in your life and you thought, "My Lord,
33:08I got to deal with more hell." It may
33:10not be hell. It might be how heaven's
33:12planning on revealing who you are. God
33:15works in mysterious ways his wonders to
33:18perform. A co-worker that makes your job
33:21feel forsaken might be sent by God. A
33:24neighbor who is unnecessarily mean might
33:27be there by God. A nasty nasty soul who
33:31works and goes and buys groceries where
33:33you buy groceries and you're worried
33:35you're going to see them in the line.
33:37That might have been a plant by God. If
33:39you're going to find yourself standing
33:41against destructive powers and vulgar
33:43people and overwhelming evil and
33:45spiritual wickedness in high places, you
33:47got to understand consecration means
33:49every time something doesn't go my way
33:51doesn't mean it's against me. In fact,
33:54haha, you can do nothing against the
33:56truth, only for the truth. You think
34:00somebody's sliding and slipping all the
34:02way out of the church and they know how
34:03to put on when the pastor's around, but
34:05they slip around over here. Listen, God
34:08is using all of those things to reveal
34:11his church. God uses Goliath and here's
34:14what Goliath does for you. Secret number
34:17one, God will use Goliath because
34:20Goliath awakens in you a disdain
34:23for the lack of God's way.
34:27You disdain those that defy the Lord. I
34:32preached about it on Sunday about those
34:34two men hanging on the cross. One of
34:36those men had gotten to a place where he
34:40had swallowed the ignoring of the ways
34:43of God long enough. He began to disdain
34:48the repulsive things that were said in
34:50the face of Jesus.
34:52He sat there and swallowed and swallowed
34:54until he couldn't swallow anymore. And
34:57that's what David ran into when he came
34:59went into that camp. He heard what this
35:02Goliath was saying and there was a
35:04disdaining in him for this disrespect
35:08and defiance of the ways of God. No more
35:11silence when you feel the presence of
35:14the devil. You get to a place that as
35:17soon as you feel it, you won't just
35:19think it, but you'll start saying in
35:21Jesus' name. You get to the PLACE WHERE
35:24YOU DON'T even have to close your eyes
35:26to say that. You can look something in
35:28the face and say, "In Jesus' name." Aha,
35:33oh the Holy Ghost just hit me right
35:35there.
35:36I'm not strong enough to tell you the
35:38way I feel it, but let me tell you right
35:39now. You've got to get to the place
35:41where when the Holy Ghost hits you, you
35:43know,
35:44I I said to my family, one of the most
35:46joyous dances I've ever seen in my life.
35:50It was some folk up in the mountains of
35:53of the Appalachia and they were dancing
35:56and they got up there
35:58and if I show you
36:00uh it my wife doesn't want me to show
36:02you but I've been practicing.
36:04I'm going to have to find out one day if
36:06I'm brave enough to do it. But uh
36:09it's some kind of Appalachian clogging
36:11and And people could
36:13tap and throw it around and they get
36:15their feet going sideways and they're
36:17doing that and they keep their hands
36:19going like that and the thing that
36:21amazed me is how they're wide-eyed
36:24open looking at everybody in that crowd.
36:26And their feet are just going they don't
36:28look down. They're not checking out
36:29their feet. They know about their feet.
36:31They're checking you out. And then when
36:34the thing that moved me is when the
36:35hands get above the belt line.
36:39They'll get it back down like that and I
36:41thought boy when the hands go above the
36:43belt line that might be a apostolic move
36:45that I'm going to have to adopt. And let
36:47me tell you something what what moved me
36:50is after they they only dance like three
36:52or four minutes and they'd walk down and
36:53a woman would walk up and she'd look out
36:55there and catch it and
36:57and get going and I mean it was amazing
36:59that Jew's harp was going with the banjo
37:01and the fiddle and it was just going
37:04amazing and I just sat there in
37:06amazement. There was so much joy in that
37:08place and those people just wide-eyed
37:10staring it out. There comes a place in
37:12your walk with God that you don't have
37:14to pray like this. You don't have to
37:16pray like this. You get to a place where
37:18a holy boldness that consecration will
37:21stand you up. You're not odd, you're not
37:25weird, and you don't have to go into
37:26la-la land to launch into it. You can
37:29just look at them and say in Jesus name,
37:31how are you doing?
37:34You just jump from up there to right
37:36down here and that's what Holy Ghost
37:37Apostolic's going to learn to do. You're
37:39not so spiritually minded you're no
37:40earthly good and you're not so earthly
37:42good that you're not heavenly minded.
37:44You've got to be able to transition
37:45between THE TWO SPACES. THAT'S WHAT A
37:47GREAT APOSTOLIC CHURCH service is where
37:50you know how to launch into his praise
37:52and then you know how to come right down
37:54and say let's get this thing figured out
37:57right now.
37:58Oh.
38:00Can I tell you what I've never noticed
38:01about David until I was today years old?
38:04David was never a asked or assigned to
38:07fight Goliath. Nobody ever asked him to
38:09do it. Nobody ever told him to do it.
38:11Nobody ever requested that he do it. He
38:14comes to the valley. His brothers try to
38:16send him away. And when he tells Saul
38:18he'll fight, Saul tries to hold him
38:20back. David never even called Goliath
38:23out by name. No, but watch this. God
38:26didn't assign David to fight Goliath. He
38:28just David said, "Ha, there's a cause."
38:32And David picked the fight with Goliath.
38:34You read in your Bible. He says to the
38:37man in verse 26, "What y'all going to
38:40give me if I go DOWN THERE AND FIGHT
38:42with this man? He hasn't called my name
38:45and nobody's asking me if I'll go. But
38:47before I go, I'm going to tell you,
38:49somebody get better getting ready for my
38:50reward. Because when I GO DOWN, I'M
38:53COMING BACK. WHEN I GO DOWN,
39:01SOMEBODY'S GOING TO HAVE to pay up when
39:02I come back because this battle's not
39:04going to beat me.
39:05When Why would David want to rumble with
39:07Goliath? Why would he want to throw
39:09hands with Goliath? Why would he want to
39:11get mixed up with this 9-ft giant that
39:14already had an armor bearer? David had
39:15no armor bearer. Why? You know why?
39:18Because he heard what Goliath said. He
39:20heard Goliath defy the armies of Saul.
39:25But David knew it wasn't the armies of
39:27Saul. Things are so egregious and
39:29felonious and blasphemous and treasonous
39:31and arrogant and hypocritical and
39:32deceitful and absurd and asinine and
39:34evil and demonic and deceptive THAT IT
39:36OFFENDS YOU WHEN YOU hear things said
39:39about YOUR GOD AND YOU CAN'T KEEP YOUR
39:42EYES closed and your mouth quiet. You're
39:44going to stand up through consecration.
39:46You're not here to hurt people. You're
39:48here to put a hurting on the enemy. And
39:50that is what God says. You always want
39:52me to fight for you. You always want me
39:55to battle against your enemies. You want
39:57me to remove your obstacles. You want to
39:59make sure that no weapon formed against
40:01YOU YOU PROSPER. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO
40:03COME TO THE PLACE THAT SOMEBODY'S GOING
40:05TO FIGHT FOR me without me asking you
40:08to? BEFORE SOMEBODY FIGHTS FOR me who
40:11didn't even receive a request in the
40:13mail. It's just you know THE WAYS OF GOD
40:16AND YOUR SPIRIT SAYS ENOUGH.
40:22IS THERE ANY MOMENT in your walk you'll
40:23fight for me?
40:24There are causes bigger than our
40:26comfort.
40:27There are times that our children need
40:28to know and I model it for my kids.
40:31There's times my kids need to know I I I
40:33don't belong to you.
40:34The kingdom of God is more important
40:36than your comfort. I'm not here to make
40:38you comfortable and always hear what you
40:40need and answer all your needs. No, I'm
40:42here because there's a kingdom that's
40:45bigger than my comfort. It's bigger than
40:47what is easy for me. You need to learn
40:50how to be uncomfortable or comfortable
40:53being uncomfortable because the cause is
40:56bigger than me. If I die in the cause of
40:59the Lord, LET ME DIE
41:02LIKE THAT.
41:03UH, IT'S not just a song that was sung
41:05down by the riverside. David heard about
41:08the host of Saul, but apparently they've
41:10forgotten who is building these people
41:12and he stands up and says, "You have
41:14defied the armies
41:17of the Lord."
41:20First secret, God uses Goliaths.
41:24Second secret,
41:25God uses Goliath
41:27to expose that anointing
41:30that's on David.
41:32First one is God uses Goliath because it
41:34wakes you up
41:36to a
41:37time where you say it's enough.
41:39I'm done taking it. I don't need to hear
41:40a preacher to get me going. I don't need
41:43to hear a special song to get me going.
41:44I don't even have to drive by a steeple
41:46to know that what I'm standing for is
41:48God. I know enough about God, it's time
41:50to stand. And the next second thing is
41:52God uses Goliath to expose that
41:54anointing that's on David's life. In
41:56other words, David, Goliath is your
41:58coming out party.
42:02Goliath is your anointing reveal.
42:06Can I tell you WHY GOD USES GOLIATH?
42:09Because too many have underestimated
42:11you.
42:11Can I tell you WHY GOD USES GOLIATH?
42:14BECAUSE TOO MANY SLEPT ON YOU. I'LL TELL
42:16YOU WHY GOD USES GOLIATH. BECAUSE TOO
42:18MANY counted you out. And it TOOK A
42:21GOLIATH BEFORE THE BATTLE WAS EVER
42:23BEGUN. They had misinterpreted you. THEY
42:26THOUGHT YOU GOT THERE BECAUSE YOU WERE A
42:28CUTE FACE. THEY THOUGHT YOU GOT THERE
42:30BECAUSE YOU HAD SOMEHOW understood that
42:33you were called, but they missed that
42:35there was a higher power that you had
42:36ALIGNED WITH. THEY FAILED TO UNDERSTAND
42:39THE GRIND OF YOUR CONSECRATION. THEY
42:42FAILED TO UNDERSTAND THE power of your
42:45secret praise. THEY DID NOT UNDERSTAND
42:48THAT ALL DAY long you've been with
42:50Jesus. AND SO GOLIATH SENDS a
42:53heavy-footed giant in your path. AND
42:55IT'S NOT ABOUT GOLIATH. IT'S ABOUT YOUR
42:58REVEAL.
43:01What about David's weapons? Sister Elms,
43:03come. I'm closing.
43:05What about his weapons?
43:07Have you noticed David had no weapons?
43:10David brought no weapons with that.
43:12In fact, when he walked forward, Goliath
43:14mocked him. He said, "Who is this but a
43:16lad that comes with staves?
43:18Just a shepherd stick.
43:20Uh when I get through with this, the
43:22whole world know
43:24that we win in Palestine.
43:26Palestine.
43:28And David said, "No, when God gets
43:30through with this, they're going to know
43:31there's a lot there's a God in Israel."
43:34David declares,
43:36"You come to me
43:41with sword
43:43and spear
43:44and javelin.
43:49Talk about weapons. I recognize what you
43:52have.
43:54But the problem is is you don't
43:55recognize who I have.
44:02I come to you in the name
44:05of the Lord of hosts.
44:08The whole world is going to know there's
44:10a God in Israel.
44:12Because God chose David to be a part of
44:15his glory.
44:16Whose glory was it that day?
44:18It wasn't David's glory.
44:20It was God's glory.
44:22But God needed a side actor.
44:28A Goliath was going down that day.
44:31And God just needed somebody
44:34who would let God work for him.
44:37It's not David versus Goliath, it's
44:38Goliath versus God.
44:41People underestimate what God enables us
44:43to do.
44:44That's the reason many times God will
44:46walk you into situations you'll say
44:48things like what is God doing?
44:51You don't even understand it. You can't
44:53comprehend it. You're just thinking I
44:55was talking to my mother last night and
44:56I was telling her about some of the
44:58things that we've gone through
45:00this past week. Stuff just stuff that
45:04you know, I'm not trying to say big
45:06things, but we went to Real America's
45:08Voice Studios this past week and the
45:10owner was there and he walked in and
45:12talked with us and
45:13the Holy Ghost moved in and while I was
45:16talking he starts talking in tongues and
45:18wiping tears from his eyes and the Holy
45:21Ghost moved in that room and he said,
45:23"We've got to go in the studio." And we
45:26went in the studio and he had my wife
45:27and Winter and Scarlet singing there and
45:29they videoed it and and then they they
45:32had them sing two songs and
45:34a guy that played Jesus in a movie was
45:36there, a opera singer, and he did such
45:38an awesome excellent job. He he sang a a
45:41song that was from the brush arbor days.
45:43And so before it was over, the owner
45:46looked at me and he said, "Pastor, why
45:49don't you go close this thing with
45:51prayer?"
45:52And I said, "Well, the Lord has taken us
45:55from the hush harbors
45:57down by the riverside
45:59to the brush harbors where the
46:01tongue-talking people had to go.
46:03And the mighty God has walked in this
46:05place. And I lifted my hands and started
46:07praying and I finished it. In fact, I
46:09got inspiration from my grandson, River,
46:11because River changes the way I end
46:13prayers. When I was done with that
46:15prayer, I said, "In the mighty name of
46:18Jesus." I used to just say in Jesus'
46:20name, but River corrected us a little
46:21while back at praying for food. And now
46:23we all have to say in the mighty. So,
46:25I'm standing up there and that owner
46:27took that and made an advertisement out
46:29of it. He sent it to me the next day and
46:31talked to me over 30 minutes just
46:32telling me about his life story. And
46:34what's going on? I I talked to another
46:37man who's been in Washington now for 10
46:39years and he called me this morning. And
46:41I told him, I said, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT
46:42GOD'S DOING, but I can tell you this,
46:45God's doing."
46:51Brother Huntley, uh did I say this
46:53Sunday?
46:53I think I told y'all Sunday what Brother
46:55Huntley has been saying. And the first
46:57time he said it, it threw me, because he
46:59said, "Ain't God somebody?"
47:03When I first heard that, it kind of
47:04threw me. I had not ever heard it like
47:06that.
47:07But every time something good would
47:08happen, Brother Huntley would just shake
47:09his head saying, "God somebody."
47:13I'm sort of in that place right now.
47:16I just want you to know. I want my kids
47:18to know.
47:19I want my grandkids to know.
47:22I want your kids to know.
47:24God is
47:25somebody.
47:31Goliath mocked him,
47:33but there was a song written after the
47:34victory.
47:36Saul had killed his thousands,
47:38but David had killed his 10,000s.
47:41We don't fight like Goliath.
47:43You know, when people say
47:46what's good for the goose is good for
47:47the gander.
47:49That's fighting like Goliath fights.
47:53I know you get in some fusses with some
47:54family members and
47:56sometimes those words will come out.
47:59I'm not looking at anyone in particular.
48:03You'll say things like, "Whatever you
48:05can do, I can do better."
48:07If you don't say it, you might think it.
48:13You can say, "Well, two can play that
48:15game."
48:17You ever thought those thoughts before?
48:19You have somebody
48:20bust a move on you and you just think
48:23"Two can play that game."
48:26That's fighting like Goliath fights.
48:28No.
48:30We fight with the Lord.
48:32It's not my comfort.
48:34It's the Lord.
48:36The third secret
48:38of this lesson from
48:40David versus Goliath.
48:42And this is the one that I want you to
48:43know.
48:45If you hear of all the secrets, this is
48:47the one I want you to know.
48:50The commission,
48:52the calling,
48:54the purpose of David
48:56was not to fight.
48:59It was to deliver
49:02cheese and bread.
49:04This Saturday we're going to have a
49:06session in this place.
49:08And my brother-in-law and my sister are
49:09going to open our eyes to spiritual
49:11warfare
49:13that is powerful.
49:15And it's going to be mighty.
49:17And you may have somebody in your eyes
49:19and your mind that you come on that day
49:21so you can find a new way to fight
49:23against them.
49:25I want you to know something.
49:27Our duty as a church is not to fight
49:31God's fight.
49:34It's to feed
49:35God's sheep.
49:38The devil is defeated.
49:41The battle belongs to
49:44But I've known some people that think
49:46that that's my battle. I'm supposed to
49:47fight that battle.
49:49When Jesus sent his disciples, first the
49:5112 and then later the 70 to preach the
49:53kingdom of God,
49:55he told them go heal the sick.
49:57He told them to go cast out demons.
50:00And the command
50:02was to go and do these things. Why?
50:06What was the greatest duty that they
50:08were to do?
50:09They were to go preach the gospel
50:12about Jesus Christ.
50:14And by so doing, the preaching
50:17would have preaching the kingdom of God,
50:20casting out devils, healing the sick,
50:23raising the dead.
50:25But then the Lord said, "If they do not
50:27receive you,
50:29you're not to say I'm supposed to go
50:31into deeper spiritual warfare."
50:35He said,
50:37"Shake
50:38the dust
50:40off your feet."
50:43And that was to the 12. When he said it
50:45to the 70,
50:47he said, "Shake the dust off your
50:50garments." Both of these are in the same
50:51chapter in the book of Luke.
50:53Luke chapter
50:55Two of those are in the book of Luke,
50:56Luke 9 and Luke 10.
50:58He also says the same thing in Mark
51:006:11.
51:02Dust your feet.
51:04Shake if if the battle
51:07is not won by the Lord,
51:10you do the fighting of the Lord in
51:12Jesus' name.
51:14And then
51:15you do what you got to do.
51:17Doesn't mean quit your job. Maybe
51:19Goliath's supposed to work beside you.
51:22Doesn't mean put your house up for sale
51:24because you're angry at your neighbors.
51:26Maybe you're supposed to have them
51:27beside you. Maybe there you are
51:29revealed.
51:30But consecration
51:32consecration will make it to where you
51:35discern. This is the another gift of the
51:37Spirit, the gift of discernment. Which
51:40fight
51:42does that person want?
51:44Because this fight of David
51:47everybody was afraid to do it, but it
51:50was the Lord's fight.
51:52David wasn't going to run and God was
51:54going to win.
51:56But there's a time in this hour that you
51:58just get permission from God.
52:00The messengers, if you have have done
52:03your part,
52:04you are now free from doing God's part.
52:08You say, "But Brother Elms, I don't have
52:09healings when I lay hands on the sick."
52:11Who's part is the healing?
52:14God's part.
52:15What is your part?
52:17Lay hands on the sick.
52:19When you come to a room with dark, evil
52:20spirits, what's your part?
52:23Call on the name of the Lord and plead
52:25the blood of Jesus. What's God's part?
52:28He takes care of the demons.
52:31You got to distinguish your part from
52:33God's part. I've told you every carcass
52:36I stand over in my chaplaincy, I always
52:38say to them, "Rise and be healed in
52:40Jesus' name."
52:42Laugh, but I'm just doing my part.
52:44Because one of these days God might
52:46decide, "I want to raise this guy from
52:48the dead."
52:50WHAT AM I DOING? I'M NOT HAVING TO BE
52:52GOD. Some people get so discouraged
52:55because they think there's some secret
52:57portion, there's some secret ideal,
53:00there's some abracadabra way to say it
53:02when the battle is the Lord's. So, what
53:05are we called to do? Lay hands on the
53:07sick, pray, cast out devils, go teach
53:11the kingdom of God. IT'S NOT ABOUT ME,
53:14IT'S about the Lord.
53:19Shall we stand?
53:22When he told them to walk away
53:24and dust the feet,
53:26it was never to be about
53:28personal offense
53:31or revenge.
53:33You got to know the difference.
53:36You got to be spiritual enough to know
53:38they can't offend me
53:40because I belong to the Lord.
53:44You want to know who I am?
53:45I'm one of those who lay hands on the
53:47sick.
53:49That's me.
53:50The Bible said they shall recover.
53:53I'm one of those who prays for the
53:55brokenhearted.
53:56I'm one of those when someone has just
53:58gone through an emotional trauma in
53:59their marriage, I walk up and I say,
54:01"You know what? God can do miracles. I
54:03don't know what the answer is. I don't
54:04know if you're supposed to leave home or
54:06stay home. I'm not trying to clarify it
54:08for you, but God can do it all in one
54:10moment. Let's go to him right now."
54:13Don't go walking in like you know the
54:14answer they're supposed to have. Then
54:16all of a sudden you're getting in God's
54:17business.
54:18Let God be God.
54:20But introduce the kingdom of healing,
54:23recovery, restoration, deliverance. No
54:26more bondage. All the blind EYES NOW
54:29BEING OPENED.
54:30We do not heal. We do not deliver. We do
54:33not raise the dead. We do not open blind
54:34eyes. We do not heal from cancer. We do
54:36not rebuild the broken. We do not
54:38restore the abused. God does that.
54:41We are his hands.
54:44And we are his feet.
54:46We come into his presence.
54:48I'm going to close with an old hymn
54:51that it simply says, "There is an unseen
54:53hand
54:55to me
54:56that leads
54:57through ways I cannot see.
55:01When going through
55:03this world of woe,
55:05the hand still leads me
55:08as I go.
55:09I'm trusting to
55:11the unseen hand
55:13that guides me through
55:15this weary land.
55:17And some sweet day
55:19I'll reach that strand still guided by
55:23the unseen hand." They're going to have
