Summary

Pastor David T. Elms proclaims a message of hope, declaring that God is currently rebuilding the ruins of broken lives and nations through a powerful, quick work of the Holy Spirit. Using the analogy of nature's restorers, he emphasizes that no matter how many times a person falls, God provides the supernatural force and fortitude to rise again and restore what was lost.

Key points
  • God is a Master Restorer who specializes in rebuilding broken lives, failed marriages, and shattered dreams.
  • Amos 9:11-13 and Acts 15 provide the scriptural promise that God will rebuild the 'ruins' of both Israel and the Gentiles (Edom).
  • The 'rebuilding' process is often a quick, supernatural work where the 'plowman overtakes the reaper,' symbolizing a torrential outpouring of blessing.
  • A righteous person is not someone who never falls, but someone who receives the power of the Holy Ghost to get back up every time they take a blow.
  • Just as nature has "engineers" (like beavers) that can restore dead ecosystems using meager resources, God can use the "nothing" left in a person's life to regenerate a fruitful future.

Identify one area of your life-whether a relationship, a ministry, or a personal struggle-that feels like a 'ruin' and consciously invite the Holy Ghost to begin the work of rebuilding this week through prayer and persistent faith.

Reflection questions
  1. What 'ruins' in your own life or family have you been tempted to write off as beyond repair?
  2. Pastor Elms mentioned that a just man falls seven times but gets up. How does this shift your perspective on failure and righteousness?
  3. How does the promise of a 'quick work' in Amos 9 change the way you pray for those who seem far from God?
  4. In what ways have you seen God use very little 'material' to build something significant in your past?

0:01Today
0:04may be the most important revelation
0:07you will ever see.
0:09In fact, thank you for selling
0:12celebrating Shauna Noelle Hickson with
0:15us.
0:16But if you will hear the word of the
0:18Lord the next few moments,
0:21it could be the most empowering
0:24revelation that you will have ever
0:26received in your life.
0:28It's not because I'm the speaker, not
0:31because of the day, but because of the
0:34word of the Lord.
0:36If you need power to get up in the
0:38morning, to go to work,
0:40today could be the most important
0:43service you'll ever get to get the
0:45energy and the focus and the drive to
0:49get up in the morning. If you need power
0:52to love the truth of life and the Lord,
0:56today might be the most important day in
1:01all of your life. To love the truth even
1:03when the truth hurts, today might be the
1:07most important day. Today you will
1:10receive power from the Holy Ghost if you
1:13will understand what God is telling us.
1:17Power to recover after you have taken a
1:21blow. Many people are able to stand when
1:24they first get touched by the Lord. But
1:27there are those who realize that even
1:29through my valleys, I have a reason to
1:32serve him. If for some odd reason I have
1:36taken a blow, whether it was from
1:38outside the people of God or whether it
1:42was from some wound that happened in the
1:44house, no matter where you get it, you
1:47need power to recover. The assumption of
1:51the Lord is not how fast you will run,
1:54not how long you will stand, but the
1:56assumption of the Lord is that you will
1:59take a tumble. And the Bible says that
2:03he who gets up after each tumble will be
2:07called righteous. For a just man falleth
2:11seven times. Not literal seven, but
2:15symbolically the number of perfection.
2:18Whatever it takes for you to make heaven
2:21your home, as long as you always have a
2:26get up after your fall down, you'll make
2:30it to heaven. As long as you walk in
2:33allegiance to the truth, you'll make it
2:36to heaven. To do that is not as simple
2:40as a testimony and a blessing from the
2:42Lord. You've got to have force and
2:46fortitude that propels you to get up
2:50when the way that you planned on things
2:52happening doesn't happen. You need that
2:56fuel. Today I have that for you. In our
3:00text we read where the Bible tells us
3:03our theme for the entire year. The theme
3:07for our church is revival. If you've
3:09looked at the text of it, it's found in
3:12Amos, the ninth chapter. We read it.
3:15There's just a few words that says, "The
3:18plowman will overtake the reaper." It is
3:22a symbolic but truthful statement about
3:25how quickly God is going to do his work
3:29in the last days. He said it's going to
3:32be a quick work. It's going to be a
3:34powerful work. It's going to be a work
3:37that's symbolized as the former rain and
3:40the latter rain coming together. A
3:44torrential outpouring of blessing and
3:47deliverance that he promises is going to
3:50happen in the last days. People that you
3:53never thought would serve the Lord are
3:55going to serve the Lord. People whose
3:58lives you thought were ruined are going
4:01to all of a sudden be raised up,
4:05replaced, repositioned, and rebuilt. I
4:09know in our own life we have a way of
4:12writing people off, but God doesn't give
4:15up that easy. He doesn't quit when we
4:19think he's quitting. He doesn't stop
4:22when we think he's stopping. And so he
4:24says in our text, "I will rebuild and
4:29raise up the ruins." There's an amazing
4:32book that was written about the
4:34ecological disasters that have happened
4:36in America because of things that have
4:39happened in the history of America
4:41becoming a great nation. Some of the
4:44things that we have done in trying to
4:46help the land ended up hurting the land.
4:49Species that were not native to this
4:52area became a part of this area. On the
4:55southern boundary you see all these
4:57melaleuca trees just south of our
5:00building. None of those are native to
5:02South Florida. They were imported to
5:05somehow drink up the water and dry out
5:08the land. Well, it's turned into
5:10something that they are looked at now as
5:12nuisance trees because many times men
5:16mess up what God intended. One of the
5:19most interesting discoveries that has
5:21happened is back in the early of
5:22America, the land, beavers were
5:25everywhere on our land. And because of
5:27that, beaver hats, beaver dams, beaver
5:31quilts, beaver they were hunted and they
5:34were wiped out without any regulation.
5:37And much of the lands of America have an
5:40absence of the beaver. Well, there was
5:43an amazing book entitled Eager, The
5:45Surprising Secret Life of Beavers,
5:49written by Ben Goldfarb. And he talks
5:51about how beavers are nature's, or I
5:55would say God's, engineers. The keystone
5:58They are a keystone species that
6:01literally rebuild ruined landscapes. And
6:05so after centuries of near extinction
6:09because of the fur trade, their
6:11reintroduction
6:13is restoring wetlands all across
6:17America. It is recharging aquifers. They
6:20are filtering water. They are creating a
6:23biodiversity hotspots. They are
6:25mitigating floods. They are stopping
6:28droughts. And they are putting down
6:30fires, all helping fight the climate
6:34challenges that have happened because of
6:36people forgetting this. They have
6:38observed beavers and they've taken what
6:41is called nuisance beavers and
6:43introduced them to places where the land
6:45was parched and was dying and the the
6:47number of species were were dwindle and
6:50down. And they have dropped, literally
6:52it started back in the 1970s, by
6:55parachute they dropped beavers in in
6:59that would fall down to the ground and
7:01when the crate hit the ground, the door
7:04would open up and beavers would live and
7:07they began tracking the progress of the
7:09work of these beavers and the places
7:12that were
7:13barren began to come back to life. They
7:16said these are unbelievable creatures.
7:18We're going to try this in the deserts.
7:20Every blue dot in this map is a dot
7:23where right now they have reintroduced
7:26beavers to the territory. Even in the
7:28desert of New Mexico, they have dropped
7:30beavers and the thing about beavers is
7:32that they're very adaptable. They don't
7:34have to have a perfectly nice
7:36environment. They can adapt to what it
7:39is and regenerate and the land is
7:41beginning to live again. The species are
7:44starting to come back. There's a new
7:46hierarchy of of life that has come all
7:49because of nature's engineers. This
7:52amazes me and I'm so intrigued. They in
7:55fact had a area in the panhandle of
7:57Florida where they were having a great
8:00amount of drought and and parched land
8:03and it was undone. And so they took some
8:05beavers and put them where they thought
8:07they once were and those beavers in
8:10spite of alligators and all the
8:12predators that you would think, they're
8:14prospering and they're taking over and
8:17they're replenishing the land the
8:19aquifer of the panhandle. What is this?
8:22There's nothing to me as exciting as
8:26restoring
8:28things. Rebuilding things. Watching
8:31things that were once dead come back to
8:34life. Seeing things that were once
8:36forgotten coming back into a place of
8:39great celebration. Through the years of
8:42this church, I have traveled and made
8:45home team videos around the world. I've
8:48always gone and wherever I traveled, I
8:52told whoever I was with and my family
8:54makes a joke out of it. We're going to
8:56make a home team video while we're here.
8:58And I would research and I would study
9:00something about the area. But most of
9:03them were places that brought back so
9:05many memories. I took you all to the
9:079/11 memorial there in Battery Park in
9:11New York City and we talked about how
9:13God was going to bring back glory into
9:16this world and it didn't matter if all
9:19the bad buildings that came down were
9:21flattened that the hope of the world was
9:24not the armies of the world, it was the
9:27church of the living God. I took trips
9:30into Washington D.C. and there in the
9:33memorials, I talked about how God bless
9:36America and how in every marble
9:39structure there, there is an allegiance
9:42and a respect and a reverence for God.
9:45For those who want to say America is a
9:47godless nation, it only says that
9:50because they must have never gone to
9:52Washington D.C. and they must have not
9:54been able to read because you can't go
9:57to that land without seeing in God we
10:00trust everywhere. It's a ruin though
10:02into comparison to what God intended it
10:05to be. I brought you to Paris where I
10:08was there when President Obama had just
10:11landed and they were celebrating an
10:13anniversary of Normandy and there in
10:15that land in that great place, I talked
10:18about how Paris was the land of
10:20enlightenment. They thought they could
10:22make a nation without God. They thought
10:24that they could have science during the
10:26enlightenment period remove God. They
10:29changed the calendar. Instead of a
10:31seven-day week, they decided we're going
10:33to have 10-day weeks. They decided we
10:35can remove all of the churches and turn
10:38them in to museums and we're going to
10:40remove God from Paris and from France.
10:44And I've talked about the ruins of that
10:46nation and yet I talked about how God
10:49would bring revival into that great
10:51land. I took you to St. Petersburg.
10:54There the remnants of the Soviet Union
10:56stood. I This is the only picture I have
10:59with my wife, but she is at every
11:01picture. She didn't know when she
11:02married me that she would partly be
11:04called to be a movie maker because she
11:06is my camera grip holder and she also is
11:10the great producer of most of these. But
11:12we've had someone to take our picture in
11:14this one so she got in it with me. But
11:17there we saw the remnants of what was
11:19the once great Soviet Union and we had
11:22preached there and we talked about how
11:24God was going to reintroduce into that
11:27land that had been built on a Soviet
11:29Union of atheism and socialism and
11:32removing God out. But that that was a
11:34place where God would come in. I took
11:37you to Normandy and I took you on a
11:39rainy cold day. It was the perfect
11:42weather. It was cold. It was wet. The
11:44wind was driving and I remembered the
11:46men who had paid a price there at
11:49Normandy so that somehow the truth could
11:52march on. I took you to Peterhof Palace.
11:56Not just the remnants of the Soviet
11:58Union. This predated the
12:01Soviet Union. It's in St. Petersburg,
12:04but it goes back to the day of the
12:06oligarchy of the the time land of Russia
12:10and that palace, I gave you a tar a talk
12:13about how there will be palaces built
12:16for us in heaven that nothing the grand
12:19land and the property and the fountains
12:22and the and the gardens and the amazing
12:25sealed silly ceilings would not touch
12:28the mansion to come. you with me to
12:31Caesarea Philippi where I talked about
12:34how there Jesus reminded Peter who who
12:38do men say that I am and he said, I say
12:41that they say some say John the Baptist,
12:44one say you're one of the prophets like
12:46Elias. He said, but whom say you that I
12:48am? And at this very place where I'm
12:50standing, he said Peter said to the
12:53Lord,
12:54you are the son of God.
12:57You are the Christ, the son of the
12:59living God. And Jesus said flesh and
13:01blood hath not revealed this unto you. I
13:04stood in the ruins of the place where
13:07they made that amazing statement. I
13:10carried you where Paul was judged by
13:14Felix where he preached to King Agrippa
13:17where on the land flat right behind me
13:19in that picture with his face facing the
13:22sun that was rising and the governors of
13:25the land sat about 20 rows up in that
13:29theater to judge Paul standing on the
13:31ground. And I told you and there I
13:34preached about how Agrippa and Felix
13:37said, you almost thou persuaded me. And
13:41I preached that God's going to restore
13:43these ruins and I've told you God's
13:46coming back. I took you by the dungeon
13:49of the Dead Sea where John the Baptist
13:52said,
13:53are you him? Are you Messiah? He sent a
13:55man to ask the Lord, are you Messiah or
13:58should we look for another? And Jesus
14:01said, tell them the blind eyes see, the
14:03deaf ears open and blessed is he that
14:07cometh in the name of the Lord. I took
14:09you to the synagogue of Capernaum where
14:12Jesus preached his first message and
14:15there he preached and he said into
14:17Capernaum, if what was done in you was
14:20done in Sodom and Gomorrah, then Sodom
14:23and Gomorrah would have repented. And I
14:26said that this synagogue one day is
14:29going to be revived and Jesus will
14:32preach another message in that
14:34synagogue. I took you to overlooking the
14:36valley of Armageddon and I showed you
14:39well an event is going to happen that
14:41[laughter] has not yet happened and yet
14:43it's coming ladies and gentlemen.
14:45Armageddon is coming. I took you to
14:47Athens where Paul stood and preached and
14:50said, ye men of Athens, I see you are
14:53very superstitious. I see that you love
14:56all the different gods, but I see that
14:59you have built a statue an image to the
15:01unknown God, but I want to proclaim him
15:04to you today. He is not far from every
15:08one of you. And I stood under the shadow
15:12of Corinth where Jesus merged worked
15:15through Paul and Paul gave us those
15:18amazing words. Love suffereth long and
15:22is kind. Love envieth not. Love vaunteth
15:26not itself. He was all spoken here in
15:29Corinth where they judged him. I took
15:31you to the shores of Crete where Paul
15:33quoted the poets and said,
15:36your poets say that you are all liars.
15:39That you are all so men that are lazy
15:44and you're all so people that always are
15:46going around and you're doing wicked
15:49things. He said, but Titus, I know
15:52that's what is said about Crete, but I'm
15:55exhorting you Titus, stay in Crete. And
15:59I told you that because of the church in
16:01Crete that when Muslim attack came in
16:05the wild days that the gospel was held
16:08safe in this island of Crete and the
16:10amazing power of God happened because
16:13the power of Christianity revived Crete.
16:16I took you to the shores of Italy and I
16:18showed you and if you would see it over
16:20my shoulder, there's a lighthouse that
16:23just kept beeping the whole time I
16:25talked. It was a subtle nuance that was
16:28hard to recognize, but it was a
16:30lighthouse that Paul on the days when he
16:33was sailing to the place of his murder,
16:36the place where we would be held in
16:38Mamertine prison, he saw these shores
16:41and said, I am now ready to preach at
16:44Rome. I took you to look at the place
16:47where Paul stood at Troas and just I'm
16:50standing in Troas even right there. And
16:52across the way, you see Macedonia and
16:56he's standing there and he told us he
16:58said, "I wanted to go to the beautiful
17:00land of Turkey, which was Troas, but I
17:03heard a voice call me to from Macedonia
17:07and they said, 'Come over and help us.'"
17:10I'm standing in Asia in this picture and
17:13across that water is Europe and it was
17:15because Paul heard that voice, "Come
17:18over to Macedonia." that the gospel
17:20message has flooded throughout Europe. I
17:23took you to the garden tomb where we're
17:26going to celebrate all this week, where
17:29Jesus was laid and there we remembered
17:33where he had been placed in that place
17:36where there was a treadder of grapes in
17:37this garden tomb and it was there that
17:40they had a stone rolled away and the
17:43guards that watched him pushed aside as
17:46he walked of his own power. I took you
17:50to the garden tomb and I took you to
17:53Miami, Florida, where the Lord had shown
17:55me a vision of an angel that was singing
17:59revival to this place and he was going
18:01to bring great revival all around this
18:04land and I've come to proclaim to every
18:07one of you today that the power of the
18:09Lord is real and everlasting and strong
18:12and he said in the book of Amos, "I'm
18:15not just going to restore the tabernacle
18:17of David." That's what we've heard
18:19preached. That's what we've heard talk
18:21about. That's what we've heard shouted
18:23about, but there's also something in
18:25there and it said, "I'm also going to
18:27restore the ruins of Edom." Edom in the
18:31Bible is a statement about all Gentiles,
18:35those that stand opposite of the way of
18:39the people of Abraham and the Lord said,
18:42"Not only am I going to restore the
18:44tabernacle of David, but I'm going to go
18:47to the place where Edom was and I'm
18:50going to restore it." I've come to
18:51proclaim to you today everything that
18:54you've gone to see that are ruins
18:56nowadays. When the millennium comes,
18:58there's going to be restoration of those
19:01places and they were built for other
19:03gods and other purposes, but there are
19:05no other gods and there are no other
19:08purposes. So, in that day, you and I are
19:11going to travel to the wonders of the
19:13world and we're going to celebrate the
19:16king of kings and the lord of lords. You
19:20say, "Brother Elms, that's all Old
19:22Testament musicians come. That's all old
19:25talk. That's for a bygone era." Well,
19:29you might say that if this prophecy
19:31stayed in the book of in the book of
19:33Amos, but it didn't. They were having a
19:36problem in the book of Acts, Acts the
19:3915th chapter. In that time, they were
19:41having a fuss. They knew that Jews could
19:44be saved. They knew that salvation was
19:46of the Jews, but they were now seeing an
19:49outpouring among the Gentiles and there
19:53was a many people who were thinking,
19:55"No, the Gentiles were not so sure about
19:58the Gentiles." And so, the Lord had
20:00filled Cornelius, a Gentile, and his
20:03entire household, but between that time
20:05and 15th chapter of Acts, there was a
20:08fuss brewing. There was all kinds of
20:10reproof and rebuke and exhortation and
20:13so, to try to solve the problem, they
20:16exhorted James to step forward. James
20:19had never been a disciple of the Lord.
20:22James has never ever walked with Jesus
20:26as one of his disciples. James wasn't
20:29part of the 12 that fed the 5,000. James
20:33was not a part of those who walked up to
20:35the tomb of Lazarus when he was called
20:37forth. James was not in the boat when
20:40Jesus came walking on the water. James
20:43was not there when the demoniac of
20:45Gadara had the demons cast from him, but
20:49let me tell you who James was. James was
20:52with Jesus from the first day he was
20:54born until Jesus was 30 years old. I
20:58don't know how long Mary and Joseph
21:00waited to have a baby after Jesus came,
21:03but James was the firstborn after Jesus
21:07and his big brother. He was so in love
21:10with him. He was so impressed with his
21:12big brother. You had to know he thought
21:15spectacular things about his big brother
21:18and while the disciples knew what Jesus
21:20said for 3 and 1/2 years, James knew
21:24what Jesus said when he was just sitting
21:26around hopping stones across the pond.
21:30James knew what Jesus said when he was
21:32teaching James how to whittle wood and
21:35how to fix a doorpost. James knew what
21:39Jesus said and so, many times in the
21:41book of Acts, if there's a problem that
21:43needs to be solved, they won't call on
21:46Peter. They won't call on Paul. It'll be
21:48James. James, the brother of Jesus, will
21:52step forward. And when they were trying
21:54to solve, "Who is this restoration for?
21:57What ruins can be counted?" James in
22:00Acts 15 stood up and he said, "Uh verses
22:04He said the word of the prophets agree
22:07with this." He was quoting in Acts
22:0915:15. He resolves the question whether
22:13or not the Gentiles could be included.
22:15He resolves the question whether it was
22:17more than just Israel being restored. He
22:20resolves the question whether or not the
22:22other nations would be restored, not
22:25just people. People move about and are
22:27portable. Nations are not portable. It's
22:30a land. It's a fixed boundary with
22:33borders and James said, "He is going to
22:36also rebuild the ruins and the nations
22:41are a part of it." I've come to proclaim
22:44this to you because it doesn't matter
22:46how far down you feel like you are right
22:49now.
22:52He rebuilds.
23:02You feel parched?
23:04He restores ecosystems.
23:08You feel dry as a desert?
23:10He restores the fruitful vine.
23:13You feel forgotten?
23:15You think your family
23:17is nothing
23:19but a leftover ruin
23:21and your strength
23:22of the marriage has atrophied, where you
23:24don't even have the energy to invest
23:27more time into it? I proclaim to you
23:30today
23:32that part
23:33of the gifting of God
23:36is he restores
23:38and rebuilds
23:40the ruins.
23:42Every land
23:44is included
23:45in this restoration.
23:47And when he sent us here in 1992
23:50and the brother Shawn answered the call
23:52in 2010
23:54and those who are coming in 2026
23:57to get the Holy Ghost. We're going to
23:59baptize Elizabeth Rose here in just a
24:01few moments because this little girl who
24:03was born in the church got the Holy
24:05Ghost this last week.
24:07She got the Holy Ghost.
24:14Why? Why is all of this Why does it
24:16matter? She wasn't even born when Shawn
24:19was the student pastor.
24:21Why?
24:23Because the Lord said,
24:25"I'm coming to do a quick work."
24:27Lives
24:29that have been ruined with addictions
24:31and failed marriages and shattered
24:32dreams.
24:33Every broken life
24:36can have a rebuilding
24:39and a restoring. You say there's no
24:42material left in my life to make it
24:44work. Let me tell you something better
24:49than nature's engineers,
24:52the Lord
24:54takes nothing.
24:56He takes nothing.
24:58When they dropped those beavers in the
24:59desert, they said, "There are not even
25:01any trees to work with. We don't even
25:03know how they'll do it."
25:05But they observed over the years and
25:07they were amazed how these beavers
25:09restored the land by using straw.
25:13And then straw grew some reeds.
25:16And then the reeds grew some branches.
25:19And every time, they just kept working
25:23because a beaver only knows,
25:26"I'm going to make this thing happen."
25:28And they work and they work and they
25:30work.
25:31Well, I'm not likening the Lord
25:34to a rodent,
25:37but I'm telling you right now,
25:39I'm standing with you.
25:41Why don't we stand? Altar workers, if
25:43you'll come stand at this front.
25:45Why
25:47do we have a day of celebration and fun
25:49and
25:50tacos and bounce houses and sodas and
25:54games and awards and rewards and
25:57recognition? Why?
26:00It doesn't matter what the headlines
26:02say.
26:04It doesn't matter if there's no kings,
26:06no presidents, no prime ministers,
26:09no governors, no mayors, no CEOs,
26:13whatever people are against,
26:16it doesn't matter
26:18because there's one king
26:21who is in the re-
26:22building
26:24business.
26:25And you're tired
26:27of getting kicked back down.
26:30You're tired
26:32of being told
26:33your family is a wreck and it's getting
26:35worse.
26:36You're sick
26:38of hearing the voice say,
26:40"You're losing your relationship with
26:41your son."
26:43You're sick of hearing it.
26:45You're sick of hearing the voice that
26:47says, "Your daughter is slowly,
26:50gradually getting over you.
26:53You're sick of it.
26:54You're sick of hearing the voice say,
26:56"Your marriage should have been over 10
26:59years ago.
27:00Why don't you face the facts that it's
27:02finished?"
27:04You're sick of it.
27:05I've come to tell you
27:07the master
27:08restorer.
27:13He told the potter, he told the prophet,
27:16"I want you to learn about me."
27:18"Okay, Lord, what should I do?" "Go down
27:20to the potter's house."
27:24If you go to the potter's house and
27:25watch him work a work on the wheel.
27:29Well, where does he get his stuff from?
27:31He gets it from the pit.
27:33And he puts it on his wheel.
27:35He works it and works it. You may have
27:38given up, but he has not given up. And
27:42I'm opening the altar to people who are
27:45tired of hearing, "It's over." You're
27:48tired of hearing, "I'm done." You're
27:50tired of hearing, "It's just wasteland."
27:53You're tired of hearing, "It's just
27:55ruined. I got to just start all over
27:57again." You're tired of starting over.
27:59I'm opening this altar. All these
28:01[music] prayer warriors will join with
28:03you. Why don't you come forward and let
28:05the Lord rebuild
28:08the ruins of your life. Why don't you do
28:12it? Don't be [music] bashful. Don't be
28:14hesitant. Don't be shy. This is when
28:18prayers [music] are made. This is when
28:20petitions are raised. This is when bold
28:23souls says, "The hell, I'm tired of
28:26listening [music] to you. You don't get
28:28to dictate my road map. You don't get to
28:32declare my future. You don't get to to
28:34doom my family. You don't get to decide
28:37my hope.
28:39You don't get to shut down my energy.
28:41You don't get to wear me out no more.
28:44I've been tired, but I got a builder in
28:47my life.
28:48I've been weary, but I got a builder in
28:50my life. [music]
28:51I've got one who will take
