0:18my favorite author is FW boram I've got
0:21all of his books just about I think I do
0:24he is long passed away and he wrote from
0:27Australia and the office staff have to
0:30put up with him very
0:32often but uh he said this in the
0:35entrance of one of his books he
0:38said uh I will I have determined he was
0:42near the end of his years of writing and
0:45in the introduction he said I have
0:46determined that as I surveyed my past
0:48and how I preached and all the things I
0:51wrote about that if there's one thing
0:54I'm certain I will have failed
0:57on he said I am certain I will have
1:00failed on adequately telling of the
1:04goodness of
1:06God he wrote this poem God never sends a
1:09flood if a shower will do never sends a
1:12fortune if a shilling will do never
1:16sends an army if a man will do and he
1:19never Thunders if a whisper will
1:22do God knows this
1:25continual back and forth seesaw of life
1:29that moves us from highs to lows and
1:32highs to lows and it's a rhythm that
1:35doesn't stop or start when you get in
1:37the
1:38church if you've only been raised in the
1:40church you'll only know it from a church
1:42perspective if you've never been in the
1:43church you'll recognize it from a carnal
1:46perspective but one of the other you're
1:49going to go through the ups and the
1:51Downs of the Seesaw of life and living
1:55for God there is a cost that comes with
1:57it it costs something for you to be here
2:00today it costs the effort of a plan of a
2:03preparation and it cost you praise if
2:07you
2:08participated it will cost you worship
2:11and prayer to ignore God's agenda there
2:15are costs that come when you do ignore
2:19God's agenda there is a uh situation in
2:23our world now though that uh God's
2:26agenda is not a cutting edge of life it
2:30may look at be looked at as sty and
2:34archaic it may look at be looked at by
2:37those who are Nimble in the business
2:38sector as if doing church is for the
2:42ignorant for the unlearned for the
2:44unprepared that doing church is for the
2:47for those who are weak and don't have a
2:49good plan doing church are for those who
2:52will continually continually stay on the
2:54grind of failure and of course that
2:57narrative is out there and I despise The
2:59Narrative because it's actually not true
3:03but we do have the same grind here that
3:06is going on in the world but when you
3:09come into the Church of the Living God
3:10there is a trap that we can all fall
3:13into and that is we can lose our sharp
3:16edge on looking at the things of God and
3:20the way that's modeled in the Bible is
3:22forgetting Jerusalem Jerusalem is the
3:26symbol of the Church of the Living God
3:28every time you hear it written about in
3:30the Old Testament about Jerusalem you're
3:32also learning about how we ought to
3:35think in
3:362025 about Concepts and thoughts and
3:40precepts about the church and so there
3:44is this continual ignoring of church
3:47Church you not among that crowd or you
3:49wouldn't be here today but I know you've
3:52already made yourself vulnerable just by
3:54coming to church today to be seen in
3:57this parking lot to be seen leaving your
3:59home early to go somewhere on a Sunday
4:02hopefully it's for business they think
4:04but all of us have passed the
4:07vulnerability of coming to church and
4:10remembering the Jerusalem and our life
4:13but in our society the meaning of the
4:15church has been stripped and so now most
4:18times people run from that and in
4:21process there's an unintended
4:23consequence of not having room for God
4:26in your life and that is the Deep of
4:28life turns into the shallow the
4:30gratification of Life must become
4:32immediate because you L lose your
4:34recognition of purpose you will get
4:37click sized morsels in your life that
4:39steal from you the deeper thoughts of
4:42living for God people in this process
4:45will equate the immediate with valuable
4:48they will say they know mat much but
4:50they will comprehend very little we live
4:52in an hour of where we have the illusion
4:56of connection ex this is why there is a
4:59Revival of long form podcasts because
5:02people are tired of the six minute shots
5:06the little pulses of information they
5:08want to know not how were you prepared
5:10and found how to read it off of the the
5:13the the the the projector but what is
5:16your heart really thinking what's going
5:18on and so now people think nothing about
5:21turning on a two plus Hour podcast and
5:24just getting back to it and going back
5:25to it why do they return to this because
5:28there's a hunger for moving beyond the
5:31illusion of connection Emoji emojis
5:35cannot replace emotion and that's why we
5:38love emojis I love to send emojis but
5:41they cannot replace the reality of Li
5:44life and uh we're not talking about
5:46rejecting a efficiencies in life I'm not
5:48talking about rejecting uh a a
5:51advancement of Technology I'm not
5:52talking about these things that are
5:54given to us to make us more efficient in
5:56life but I'm also talking about remember
5:59eternity because efficiencies and
6:02Eternity don't always go together and in
6:06our text we read from the book of
6:08Zechariah Zechariah is a prophet and I'm
6:10always tempted to preach the whole book
6:12every time I come so please forgive me
6:14while I just chop a bunch off
6:17you won't know it but Zachariah was a
6:20prophet that was living during the time
6:23of the destruction of the temple it had
6:25been destroyed 586 BC this was after the
6:30season of David as king and the season
6:32of Saul in the season of Solomon this
6:34was after the Exile where they've been
6:36moved to Babylon this was coming back
6:39after they had reestablished the temple
6:41in Jerusalem and now he was in this
6:43place with a a weird Zone in the B
6:47586 means he's just a few years from
6:50what we call 400 years of Silence it's
6:55as if it's God's last gasp in reaching
6:59his people and Zachariah emerges with
7:02this 14 chapter call it's an oracle to
7:06rebuild and reconnect to the Lord the
7:09first eight chapters Dazzle us with
7:12encouragement the Horsemen's are charge
7:14the horsemen are charging horns are
7:16blasting and men with a measuring tape
7:19is found the last six chapters declare
7:23an apocalyptic fervor that there is
7:25going to be an end of
7:28days and there are linguistic Easter
7:31eggs that are found through out this
7:33Oracle that are so amazing that the eye
7:36doesn't get right at the beginning and
7:38my calling is to somehow get to you all
7:41the Blessed Nuance the Blessed goodness
7:44that is tucked into the sacred pages
7:47themes of Deliverance and moments of
7:49levity and Joy are in this book one of
7:51my favorite verses of the entire Bible
7:54is in this book and it shows of old and
7:56old men and women resting in Jerusalem
7:59streets and then it says what I try to
8:01use just about every B baby dedication
8:04and the streets of the city shall be
8:07full of boys and girls
8:10playing I love that picture Zachariah
8:13was the one who stood tall on his
8:15tiptoes to see the streets of the city
8:18of a New Jerusalem that was coming but
8:21the overarching purpose of this book is
8:24found in the first chapter the third
8:26verse When God Says return to me and I
8:30will return to you chapter two is uh uh
8:35this this continuance of telling of God
8:38to get his people return return return
8:41is there anybody that's fallen in love
8:43with Jerusalem will anyone remember my
8:47place my Mount Zion my house of
8:50dedication and Consecration and and uh
8:53they have found that the Earth has been
8:56given an assigned Patrol and the second
8:59chapter tells us of a patrol that has
9:02been assigned or chap the end of chapter
9:04one that has been going to and fro in
9:07the earth and they have found that the
9:09Earth is looking at rebuilding and
9:12reordering things there was a sort of an
9:15industrial revolution happening in the
9:18Israel of that day but people were not
9:20at all curious about Jerusalem they were
9:24more curious about finding the latest
9:26technologies that had been given in that
9:29hour and there had been an ease that had
9:32settled over God's people it had
9:34permeated the house of the people of God
9:38and the almighty was Disturbed with the
9:41people who had gotten so enamored with
9:44the Technologies of that day and
9:47neglected the truth of Jerusalem and
9:50Mount Zion so he had sent a patrol of
9:53angels to find someone anyone who would
9:56be jealous over Jerusalem because he
9:59said I want you all to know I'm going to
10:02return to Jerusalem in Mercy my heart is
10:06still my house my heart is still Zion
10:11I'm coming back I'm returning in Mercy
10:14does anyone care about Jerusalem Jalem
10:17and it was Love's last appeal to a
10:20people that were on their way to a
10:22backsliding reality and we know that
10:25through that one page in your Bible that
10:28sits hovering between the end of the Old
10:31Testament and the beginning of the New
10:34Testament this one page right here that
10:37one page 400 years where the people knew
10:41all about their iPhone knew all about AI
10:45knew all about the inventions of their
10:47hour knew all about investments in the
10:49city knew all about the newest
10:52inventions in the vehicle World knew all
10:54about all the things that made them more
10:56efficient and effective but they did not
10:59care about Jerusalem and Zion and just a
11:01few pages before this page Zachariah is
11:05telling us his Oracle his prophecy about
11:07a patrol that's gone to find anybody
11:11who's interested in Jerusalem and then
11:13chapter two Comes This is my message
11:17chapter 2
11:19starts we found a
11:22man a man who is vigorous over
11:26Jerusalem a man who has put on his hard
11:29hat and his tool belt he's got on his
11:32work boots and he's marching as fast as
11:34he can to go reexamine and re inspect
11:39Jerusalem and Mount Zion he wanted to
11:42see how high it was and how wide it was
11:44and how big it was and he wanted to make
11:46sure that the walls were right and
11:48things were propeper proper and this man
11:50is walking with a spirit of eagerness
11:52and determination he realized that he
11:55wasn't just a steward of a storied past
11:58but he was anticipating an amazing
12:01future and so he couldn't get up go to
12:04God's house fast enough it's like a lot
12:06of you in this house today you couldn't
12:08get here fast enough because you've been
12:11carrying all kinds of parasites of the
12:13spirit that's trying to get infused into
12:15you and make you carry them everywhere
12:18you go and it's only here where we come
12:20and shake off the Barnacles of carnality
12:23and shake off the carnality that
12:25cataracts our sight and shuts down our
12:28vision and it's here where we get a
12:30realization it's not about efficiencies
12:33it's about
12:36[Music]
12:39eternities and I lifted my eyes and saw
12:42and behold a man with a measureing line
12:44in his hand then I I said where are you
12:48going and he said unto me I'm going to
12:51measure
12:53Jerusalem to see what is its width and
12:55what is its length
12:58behold the angel who talked with me came
13:01forward and another angel came forward
13:04to meet him and said to him run Angel
13:10run run and say to that young man that
13:14one who's running to Jerusalem that one
13:17who loves the heights of
13:19Zion go say to that man who is so
13:22curious about getting to God's house run
13:25and say to that man Jerusalem shall be
13:28inhabited as Villages without walls
13:31because of the multitude of people and
13:33livestock in it and I will be to her a
13:36wall of fire around it declares the Lord
13:39and I will be the
13:41glory in her midst here there there's
13:44this interplay between the Supernatural
13:47Soldier and the engineering surveyor
13:51there's this back and forth why stop the
13:53man that's caring so diligently for
13:56Jerusalem why slow him down and the
13:59Bible gives us this illustration of the
14:02only angel in all scripture that
14:08runs now haste and hurry is often
14:12depicted uh it is not often depicted in
14:15scripture but when it is
14:17it's generally in a subservient or a
14:19servant role Kings and Prophets and
14:22Priests don't go running they're not
14:24this demonstrated as running unless it's
14:27an Elijah who's trying to declare the
14:29drought is over and the rain's coming
14:31and I've got to run other than that you
14:33don't see them running there's no
14:35depiction of Jesus
14:37running and so this concept of running
14:40Abraham we know he hurries and prepares
14:43a meal but that's a hastening of service
14:46Prophet Elijah runs to tell that it's
14:48going to rain but generally running is
14:51the domain of servants and Messengers
14:53and it was a cultural reality a belief
14:56that dignity and deliberation were
14:59together that when you achieve the
15:00higher points in life you didn't run
15:03frantic motion was a symbol of chaos and
15:06subservience in fact Proverbs 19:2 says
15:09desire without knowledge is no good and
15:12whoever makes haste with his feet misses
15:15his way
15:17Proverbs 21:5 says the plans of the
15:19diligent lead surely to abundance but
15:22everybody who is Hasty comes only to
15:27Poverty this surveyor has set out
15:30there's no evidence that he's running
15:33there's just a statement that he's
15:35moving to
15:36Jerusalem and he loves Jerusalem he
15:39means well he's put on his hard hat he's
15:42brought his tools to survey and to
15:44measure he's taken time to go to the
15:47tool shed and get what he knows he needs
15:50to get the Heights and the breadths
15:51measured out of this Jerusalem but the
15:54Heavenly observers those assigned angels
15:57that have come to Earth have come and
15:59one says to the other
16:03run and tell him the Hebrew verb there
16:08is one that literally means move swiftly
16:11run Dart get to him quickly it comes
16:15with urgency and it's in a service of a
16:17revelation far more than speed far more
16:21than running quickly it was a run with
16:24purpose and what was the purpose why
16:27would an angel run God sends this Divine
16:31override this shutdown why God is
16:35jealous over Zion has been looking for
16:38anybody who cared about Zion he wanted
16:40somebody who would go and love that
16:43place and now we finally have one
16:46why are you running to slow him down the
16:50only reason the angel runs is because he
16:53goes to tell the man that his measuring
16:56devices are not sufficient to measure
17:00God's
17:01goodness that Jerusalem is going to be
17:04greater and more glorious than he ever
17:07could figure that no matter what tools
17:09of measurement laser locks he had it
17:13could not comprehend how amazingly
17:15awesome some God's people were going to
17:18have it he said Jerusalem is going to be
17:21a city that's so filled with commodities
17:24that you're going to have more cattle
17:26than they can count in that City so your
17:29walls will not do your measuring tape is
17:32not adequate your measuring devices will
17:34not fix the problem you got to just back
17:37up and say God's going to do it and
17:39God's going to be a wall of fire around
17:41them and it's going to be a glory in the
17:43middle of them run run tell that man
17:48it's better than he thought it was run
17:53stop that man tell him whatever he
17:57thinks about the goodness of God it is
18:00still not enough because he's better
18:03he's greater he's more Mighty he's more
18:06glorious he's more beautiful he's more
18:09precious he's more pleasant than any one
18:12of us ever knew
18:18Paul tried to tell us I ha not seen eath
18:21not heard neither has it entered into
18:22the heart of man the things that God
18:25prepared for those who love him I know
18:27we're going through this industrial
18:29revolution of A Sort right now and all
18:31of us may not be paying as much
18:33attention to it as others but we're in
18:35this season of great change in this year
18:37and I'm telling you the question is how
18:40do we have authentic Church enough to
18:43slow down the frenetic Pace that you and
18:45I are call to live in the velocity of
18:48innovation is unnerving it is unsettling
18:53the happy trail song of yester year must
18:56now be driven at a Breakneck speed the
19:00technological upheaval of reshaping
19:02reality is not asking us for permission
19:06whether we Grant it permission or not
19:08it's marching on and we're never going
19:10back I know people opine about yester
19:13year but we're never going back so God
19:16had a people that wanted to go at least
19:19to Jerusalem and do their best to
19:21measure it out and get it scaled and
19:23figured out and surveyed but God's
19:26saying before you start surveying
19:29Jerusalem I want to tell you something
19:31the only way it's going to be surveyed
19:33is by instruments bigger than you'll
19:34ever have because it's going to be an
19:37amazing place you can get lost in this
19:40present chaos that we're living in you
19:42can become obsessed with the instant
19:45till yeah you want instant coffee and
19:47instant money and instant love and
19:49instant likes and instant follows and
19:52you're always checking who to liked what
19:54you said and who's following you on
19:57Facebook until you get in the chaos to
19:59where you will forget that Jerusalem is
20:02still God's house you forget that Mount
20:05Zion is still his heartbeat and I want
20:08you to know dive into this secular
20:11moment it can be sacred when you walk
20:13into it but never forget that Zion is
20:17going to be greater it's going to be
20:19more amazing it's going to be more
20:21glorious it's going to be more powerful
20:24than you've ever
20:28imagined sister elm's come I'm closing

20:34run hurry to God's people hurry to those
20:39who love Jerusalem don't just Meander to
20:42them run to them and tell them it's
20:48better than you know CU I'm going to be
20:51a wall of fire around her and a glory in
20:54the midst of her what's the church going
20:57to look like going forward well I can't
20:59tell you what it's going to look like
21:01but I can tell you God's going to have
21:03it in the palm of his hand I can tell
21:06you a holy haste is coming towards us
21:09every Sunday to remind us that we have
21:12undervalued the worth of worship
21:17whatever you may think your praise
21:19means it means more than that whatever
21:23you think your prayers
21:25mean it means more than that whatever
21:29you think your petitions mean when he
21:30said bring your petitions unto me it
21:34means more than you thought great is the
21:37Lord and greatly to be praised and his
21:40greatness is unsearchable for my
21:43thoughts are not your thoughts neither
21:46are my ways your ways declares the Lord
21:49for as the heavens are higher than the
21:51earth so are my ways higher than your
21:54ways and my thoughts higher than your
21:58thoughts we don't understand how good
22:02this is hurry Angels hurry to the church
22:07hurry to those who think they love the
22:10church run to them with baed breath tell
22:14them you have
22:16underestimated God's plan defies human
22:20understanding Jerusalem cannot be
22:22Quantified when Angels run it's because
22:25God's people have
22:26underestimated how good God is it
22:28doesn't mean they don't love him it
22:30doesn't mean they're not energetic in
22:32getting the measure of the house done
22:34correctly in an age where everyone else
22:36wasn't paying attention to Jerusalem we
22:39found
22:40one who's armed himself with the
22:43instruments of discovery
22:47the measurements for
22:50legacy and yet God said tell your
22:53children's
22:55children serving God may not look cool
22:59serving God may seem burdensome serving
23:04God may seem out of the way unnecessary
23:07you don't fit and all we want to do is
23:10fit but the the angel is running today
23:13to tell you while our a is building its
23:16new Tower of Babel out of silicone Let
23:20the Church open your windows toward
23:22Jerusalem zachariah's angel stop ran to
23:27stop the premature assessment he said
23:29I'll be a wall of fire around you I'll
23:33never forget the first time we I went to
23:35South Africa I was youth president and
23:37we took I believe it was 68 kids to
23:39South Africa and you all have heard so
23:42many of my stories that's where we had
23:44the the lion kill after midnight and the
23:47truck would not start and the battery
23:50had gone down and we were parked
23:52literally probably from here to this
23:54wall from the kill and uh there were
23:58male lions 12 Lions all around I won't
24:01retell the story but here's the thing I
24:03want to tell you it was the first time I
24:07realized where I was we had finally got
24:10into Krueger Park and there was a rest
24:12area and there was a river that ran
24:14behind the rest area and so you know we
24:17all Americans accustomed to being in
24:20generally safe places we got out of the
24:23bus and we just started Meandering
24:26walking down and the guide came out of
24:28the bus said hey y'all
24:32stop you're in
24:36Africa don't go too close to the
24:39river stay up right here don't be
24:42wandering
24:44around there are troops tooth and Claw
24:46here that will take you
24:49down and I thought for the first time
24:51I'm responsible for all these kids I was
24:53youth president at that time I thought
24:54my Lord the last thing I need is a lion
24:56attack now at the broad
24:58day but he said no it's not the it's not
25:01necessarily Tigers he said the elephants
25:03will hurt you stay away from the
25:06elephants that are down there and we're
25:08just all curious there was danger
25:12everywhere but the Messiah tribe the
25:14Warriors of the sering spetti have this
25:17one thing that they will never cease to
25:19practice in times of famine in the heart
25:23of Africa when the animals of tooth and
25:25Claw are hungry for eating and there's
25:29not a lot of Plenty they have a practice
25:33of building a wall of fire around their
25:36their cattle and their prize possessions
25:40because that's the only thing that can
25:41really protect them in the night when
25:44the Predators
25:46growl
25:47and that wall of fire it's a wall that
25:51bites back it's a force that does not
25:55negotiate fire cracks and Roars and pops
25:58and stings you might strike at it but
26:03you will never land your
26:07blow the Lord said I will be a
26:11wall I don't know what creatures await
26:14us in the future
26:16I don't know what monsters of the dark
26:19will be released from the bottom of the
26:21river
26:21Euphrates I know that there are some
26:24that are bound up until the time of the
26:27end there are some demonic forces bound
26:31until the time of the end and when they
26:33come up I don't know if we can calculate
26:36what they're coming with but I know it's
26:38great wrath but the only place that's
26:40going to help me is not my latest
26:42edition of a cell phone or my neat new
26:44iPad or what flat screen family fun I
26:48have no the only thing that's going to
26:50help me at that moment is being
26:52understanding that Jerusalem is my home
26:55that Zion is my hill and that the Lord
26:59is coming back for
27:05us I'm closing today I don't know where
27:08you're at I don't know what you're going
27:10through I say this every Sunday but it's
27:12still true you're going through things I
27:15don't know God does because you may have
27:16already had a supernatural hint that God
27:19was in the middle of your stuff this
27:21week by something I said and when I said
27:23it I didn't have a clue I was saying it
27:26that's the supernatural that happens in
27:28the house of the Lord and when it
27:30happens to you you just need to stop and
27:32don't thank the pastor you need to thank
27:34God that he's a wall of fire around
27:37about you and he's a
27:39glorying in the midst of you
27:47[Applause]
27:48H but I went to a Coffee Joint to get my
27:51wife a drink today actually it was Meed
27:54a drink and she got one requested on the
27:56way but I wanted her to think it was all
28:00for
28:02her but when I went in driving through I
28:06didn't go in I was driving through the
28:08guy at the window said boy you're
28:12dressed up for business today
28:17and I
28:22smiled said thank you for your
28:25kindness I thought that would be it you
28:27know I'm not necessarily trying to pre-
28:29preach my
28:32message so he handed me my two drinks I
28:34said thank you he said what kind of
28:36business are you in
28:39[Applause]
28:53army of the Lord I said I Pastor an
28:56Apostolic Pentecostal church and we're
28:58about to have some church this
29:02morning now here's the part my heart
29:06sings and
29:07sigh because he looked at me
29:10said is that Catholic or Christian
29:18before you get on your high horse of
29:28haughtiness before you think you he
29:30ought to know there's a
29:33difference for you ought to scold him
29:37because Catholic is definitely Christian
29:40before you scold him for not knowing as
29:43I drove away he went
29:48and I thought
29:51Lord not many people are looking at
29:57Jerusalem not his parents didn't teach
30:00him his grandparents he didn't have
30:02anybody in this world to teach
30:05him but he knew enough to make the
30:09sign of a
30:11cross and somewhere deep in his soul I
30:14believe he got credit from a king
30:23yes it's better than we
30:27know it's greater than we can
30:30imagine there's an angel running you
30:33down
30:34today he's trying to catch
30:37you he's trying to get to
30:40you do you hear
30:42him he's trying to tell you
30:46whatever you think you know about the
30:49goodness of God you haven't seen
30:52anything
30:53yet I'm opening this altar the Holy
30:56Ghost is moving in this house some of
30:59you may not know much more than the side
31:01of the Cross but there's a king that is
31:04in resident in this Jerusalem there is a
31:07Zion that's going to be inhabited by a
31:10people who are saying he's better than I
31:12know he's greater than I imagined he's
31:15higher than the highest he's wiser than
31:19the wisest he's eternity he's Divinity
